Virginia Wyatt
Rayne - Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Virginia Wyatt, 85, who died Thursday, April 20, 2006, in Crowley American Legion Hospital.
interment was in Elizabeth Memorial Cemetery in Branch.
Survivors include one sister, Ethelyn Lockard, of Mississippi; and 19 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Wyatt and Ellen Fusilier Wyatt; one sister, Julia Faye Rayford; and five brothers, Bernard, Ivan, Elmo, Woodrow and James Ray Wyatt.

The family requested that the visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. Saturday until service time.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Alice H. Lyons
Alice Hebert Lyons, 84, died Friday, April 21, 2006, at Lakewood Quarters in Baton Rouge.
She was born near the Mire/Duson community but lived in Sulphur for most of her adult life. Mrs. Lyons was a vibrant member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church; and, she was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters since 1956, the Altar Society, and the Eucharistic Ministry. She also served as treasurer of the Catholic Daughters for a number of years.
Alice and her husband, Victor Lyons, were both retirees of the Firestone Plant in Lake Charles.
Survivors include her niece, Bobbie Hebert of Baton Rouge.
Alice Lyons was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Lyons, one brother, Louis Hebert, one nephew, Fr. Donald Hebert, and 12 half brothers and sisters. She was the youngest of 14 children and the only remaining survivor of Emilie and Theophile Hebert of the Mire/Duson area.
Alice cherished her church, especially the Catholic Daughters, her friends, and the Lyons and Hebert families. She will be missed by all.
Funeral services commenced with visitation on Tuesday, April 25, from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Hixson Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur. A visitation was also to be held on Wednesday, April 26, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Mire church hall.
The funeral mass was officiated by Fr. Harrington at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption Church in Mire.

Lillian Richard Doucet
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Assumption Church in Mire, with Msgr. Russell Harrington officiating, for Mrs. Lillian Richard Doucet, 83, of Rayne, who died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, in American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Readers were granddaughters Paige Thibod-eaux, and Vickie Doucet Cavitt. The soloist was Wendal James.
Burial was in Assumption Cemetery in Mire.
Visitation was observed on Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by her husband, Eby Doucet, of Rayne; four sons and their spouses, James Aubrey and Patricia Doucet, Scott, James Lee Doucet, Rayne, James Michael And Kathy Doucet, Carencro, and Malcolm and Margaret Doucet, Rayne; two daughters, Patsy Doucet Comeaux and Marlene and John Allen Thibodeaux, all of Rayne; two sisters, and Amie Lavergne, Rayne and Urella; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Maurice Richard and Mrs. Clementine Guidry Richard.
Pallbearers were sons Aubrey Doucet, Michael Doucet, and Malcolm Doucet, and three grandsons Bryant Comeaux, Keith Doucet, Matt Doucet, and one son-in-law John Allen Thibodeaux.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Alton Gilliam Cormier
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, in Assumption Church in Mire, with Msgr. Russell Harrington officiating, for Alton Gilliam Cormier, 66, of Rayne, who died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2006, in Lafayette General Medical Center.
A rosary was recited Sunday, April 16, 2006, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was observed on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
Burial was in Assumption Cemetery in Mire.
He is survived by his wife, Earline Cormier, Mire; one son, Tim and April Cormier, Ocean Springs, Miss.; two daughters, Pam and Lynn Canino, Mire; and Sharon and Pat Collins, Tatum, Texas ; one brother, Nelson Cormier; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr.Alton was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Arthur Cormier and Mrs. Elodie Martin Cormier.
Mr. Alton retired after 24 years with the police force at the University of Louisiana .

Forest Joseph Trahan
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Buddy Breaux officiating, for Forest Joseph Trahan, 72, of Rayne, who died at 10:45 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2006, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
A rosary was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Visitation was observed on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2 mausoleum in Rayne.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Trahan, Rayne; three daughters and their spouses, Diana and Edgar Jay Quebodeaux, Kathy and Ronnie Meaux and Michelle and Russell Lavergne, all of Rayne; six grandchildren, Sandy Quebodeaux, Sawn and Klint Fruge, Justin and Madison Lavergne, Katie and Dwyane Leckelt and Celeste and Stoney Dupuis; five great-grandchildren, Holden Racca, Madalyn Dupont, Aidan Leckelt, Gannon Quebodeaux and Jack Thomas Dupuis; and one brother and his wife, Harry Lee and Nelda Trahan, Mire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Editha Cormier and Clomare Trahan; one brother, Lucius Lopez and a nephew, Jimmy Lopez.
Pallbearers were Jack Quebodeaux, Harry Glenn Trahan, Russell Lavergne, Stoney Dupuis, Merlin Lormand and Ray Cormier.
Honorary pallbearers were Justin Lavergne, Jack Thomas Dupuis, Holden Racca, Aidan Leckelt, Gannon Quebodeaux, Harry Lee Trahan, Ronnie Meaux and Allen Dale Lormand.
He was a retired carpenter and fireman. He loved camping and visiting the local festival, especially for the Cajun music.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Dr. Meza’s office, and the fifth floor central nurses at Our Lady of Lourdes.

Lily Mae Credeur
MIRE –– Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, for Lily Mae Credeur, age 81, the former Lily Mae Leblanc, who Passed away Sunday, April 16, 2006, at 12:42 a.m. at her residence in Mire.
interment was in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery in Mire.
Musical selections were provided by Ron Moreau, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs were Amazing Grace, Hail Mary Gentle Woman and Go Rest High on That Mountain.
Ms. Credeur was a native and lifelong resident of Mire. She was a parishioner of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire. She was employed with Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center for 16 years.
Survivors include one brother, Patrick Leblanc and wife Patsy of Mire; two sisters, Louella Viator and husband Preston of New Iberia, Theresa Forestier and husband Alfred, Jr. of Mire; and 18 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Credeur; her parents, Judice Leblanc and the former Edola Meche, both natives of Mire; one brother, Willie Lee Leblanc; and one nephew, Clinton Leblanc.
A rosary was prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
Pallbearers were Chad Guidry, Rob Guidry, Edward Viator, Derek Forestier, Cory Forestier and Steven Leblanc. Honorary pallbearers were Timmy Forestier, Danny Forestier and Richard Leblanc.

Mrs. Houston “Black” Doucet
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 3 p.m. at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Branch for Hazel Matte Doucet, 82, of Branch, who died at 8 a.m. at her residence in Branch on Monday, April 10, 2006.
interment was in the St. Edmund Catholic Cemetery in Branch, with Father Francis Bourgeois conducting the services.
Survivors included three daughters, Cheryl Thibodeaux and husband Francis of Spring, Texas , Wanda Mudge and husband Alvin of Branch, and Phylis Schultz of Branch; one brother, Joseph Lee Matte of Morgan City; one sister, Velma Folks of Greenwell Springs; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Houston “Black” Doucet and her parents, Joseph and Zelima Thibodeaux Matte.
She was a member of the St. Edmund Ladies Altar Society.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3 p.m. Tuesday until services Wednesday at 3 p.m.
A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

Carlton Richard Mouton
Carlton Richard Mouton, Sr. was born on September 29, 1937 to the late Frank Mouton and Lillian Pierce-Mouton, both of Rayne. He departed this life on Thursday evening, April 6, 2006, in the Heart Hospital of Lafayette.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006, a Christian burial at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in Rayne. Reverend Cozy Gage will be the celebrant and will conduct the funeral services.
Entombment will be in Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery.
Carlton Richard Mouton was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lillian Mouton; his sister, Ethel Mouton Jackson ; and two brothers, Leo Mouton and Cammie Mouton.
During his life he served his country in the United States Army, from which he was honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion Post 77 of Rayne. Carlton “Richard” was employed at Sunbeam Bakery for over 20 years. His last occupation was a security guard at the Schlumberger Company.
Carlton “Richard” was united in holy matrimony to Margaret Ann Dugas of Rayne, of this union three children were born, two sons, Carlton Richard Mouton, Jr. (Suzzette) of Rayne, and Christopher Kent Mouton (Natasha) of Los Angeles, Calif. and one daughter, Venesta Faye Mouton-Wilson of Rayne. He had four grandchildren, Marquita Wilson, Jeremy Mouton, Ty Mouton and Jasmine Mouton.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife of 46 years, Margaret Dugas Mouton; his three children; four grandchildren; two sisters, Jessie Curtis and brother-in-law L.D. Curtis of Houston, Texas ; Emma Dell Hall of Houston Texas ; two brothers, Edward Clyde Mouton and sister-in-law Awdora Mouton of Washington , DC; Terry Mouton of New York, New York, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Carlton “Richard” was a very well known man in the community of Rayne. He was known to everyone as “Richard” or “Rich”, but to his grandchildren he was called “Granddaddy.” His smile brought joy to everyone’s face. He was a kind and gentle man who loved to laugh and tell jokes. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten by his family and friends.
The family requests visitation be observed from 8:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006, until time of funeral service of 1:00 p.m. Syria Funeral Home of Lafayette is in charge of arrangements.
