Esther P. Harrington
TIMONIUM - Esther Potter Harrington of Timonium, formerly of Easton, died Friday, July 25, 2000 at Stella Maris Nursing Home. She was 96.
Born Jan. 6, 1904 in Hamilton, she was the daughter of the late William Wolk and the late Mable Dunham.
Her husband, W. Stuart Harrington, is deceased.
A homemaker and a sales clerk, she was active in the Memorial Hospital volunteers.
She was the devoted mother of Carolyn P. Burrows of Vaugh, Mont. and Jean H. Matthews and her husband, Donald H., of Sparks; dear sister of Nellie P. Jones of Easton and the late Marvin D. Potter, Benjamin Potter, William W. Potter, Dorothy P. Gise and Carolyn P. Harris. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, at Old Wye Episcopal Church, Wye Mills. The Rev. Charles Osberger of Old Wye Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Arrangements are by Lemmon Funeral Home, Timonium.

Charles E. Knell Jr.
STEVENSVILLE - Charles E."Charlie" Knell Jr., of Stevensville, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000 at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis. He was 49.
Born Nov. 11, 1950 in Baltimore, he was the son of Charles E. Knell Sr. and Jean Fitzgerald.
After graduating from Calvert Hall High School in Baltimore, he attended University of Maryland Baltimore County. He owned Allied Capital Mortgage Corp. and was a settlement officer for Capital Title. He was an active A.A. member.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Knell is survived by his wife, Linda M. Sterling of Stevensville, whom he married Nov. 18, 1988; and a sister, Cindy Franz of Virginia Beach, Va.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Christ Episcopal Church in Stevensville.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 132 Queenstown, MD., 21658.

Carol A. Richter
STEVENSVILLE - Carol Ann Richter of Stevensville died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000 after complications from a long struggle with pulmonary hypertension. While awaiting a double-lung transplant, Carol fought for insurance and regulatory reform and became involved in organ transplant research. She was 53.
Born in Baltimore, she lived with her family in Chicago and Pennsylvania before settling on Kent Island. She enjoyed spending time with her family, tennis, reading, dancing, cooking and entertaining, especially at Christmas. She never missed an Oriole game and she never passed up a chance to sit by the pool or to read a book on the beach.
Mrs. Richter is survived by her husband of 34 years, Brian; her son, Matthew of EarIville, Pa.; her daughter, Amy Reilly of Churchton; her brother, Michael of Old Lyme, Conn.; and her two grandchildren, Jackson and Patrick.
The family will receive friends and neighbors at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester on Friday, Aug. 11, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Chester.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in memory of Carol Richter be made to the Transplant Resource Center of Maryland, 1540 Caton Center Drive, Suite R, Baltimore, Md. 21227.

Wallace W. Skinner
EASTON - Wallace William Skinner of Easton died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 83.
Born June 5, 1917, he was the son of the late John Skinner and Sarah Williams Skinner.
Mr. Skinner is survived by his wife, Viola W. Skinner of Easton; and a son, Wallace Skinner Jr.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 12 at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Easton, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in The New Chapel Cemetery, Easton.

Charles J. Wabeck
SALISBURY - Charles J. Wabeck, died Monday morning at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury from pneumonia and complications of non-Hodgkins lymphoma that he had been battling for several years.
He was professor emeritus of animal and avian sciences on the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources faculty of the University of Maryland, College Park. Wabeck retired last year after 30 years as a Maryland Cooperative Extension poultry processing specialist with the University of Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore Research and Education Center, first at Salisbury and then at Princess Anne for the past 15 years. He was well-known as a poultry processing industry leader, both in the Delmarva area and throughout the nation.
He served for many years as superintendent of the 4-H poultry and rabbit shows at the Maryland State Fair in Timonium. He also coached Maryland 4-H poultry judging teams several times to high standings in regional and national youth competition. One of his teams won the national championship in 1987. He served from 1989 to 1994 chairperson of the national 4-H poultry and egg judging contest, and he was a co-author of the National 4-H Poultry Judging Manual, published in 1983.
His list of awards includes recognition from Gamma Sigma Delta, the honor society of agriculture; the Medal of Achievement from Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc.; a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture; and the Blue and Gold award from the Maryland FFA Association. He won the Pfizer Extension Award in 1997 for distinguished service to the nation's poultry industry.
Wabeck was a founding member of the Mid-Atlantic Cooperative Extension (MACE) Poultry Health and Management Unit, and he served on the planning committee for every MACE regional meeting on practical biosecurity for poultry during the past 13 years.
He also was actively involved with program planning for the National Meeting on Poultry Health and Processing, sponsored during October each year in Ocean City by Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. and he assisted with educational displays and demonstrations for many years during the annual Delmarva Chicken Festival.
Born at Montague, Mass., he earned academic degrees in poultry science from the University of Massachusetts and the University of New Hampshire. He earned a Ph.D. degree in food science at Purdue University.
Wabeck is survived by his wife, Sandra Wabeck of Salisbury; a daughter, Karen Wabeck of Miami, Fla.; a son, John Wabeck of Napa, Calif., and his mother, Laura Wabeck of Greenfield, Mass.
Funeral services are scheduled Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury.
Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.

Hugh B. Williams
ROCK HALL - Hugh Branham Williams of Rock Hall died of heart failure Friday, Aug. 4, 2000 at Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown. He was 69.
Born in Lewes, Del., he was the son of the late Charles S. and Julia Branham Williams.
He spent his early years in Delaware, later graduating from Harvard University. He continued his education at Columbia University in New York City where he completed two years of law school. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.
For 35 years he worked for IBM in New York retiring as executive in 1989. In 1992, Mr. Williams and his wife Gwyn moved to Rock Hall. He donated his time to several organizations in Chestertown and Kent County helping them to establish computer programs and designing web sites.
In addition to his wife of 20 years, Mr. Williams is survived by his four daughters, Gwynne B. Williams of Milford, Conn., Marguerite B. Williams and Holly M. Williams, both of San Francisco, and Jennifer N. Barr of Columbia; three sons, Joseph J. Williams of Syracuse, N.Y., A. Stephen Barr of Philadelphia, and Christopher Williams of Newport, R.I.; two sisters, Anne Blake of Chico, Calif., and Gwynne Jacobs of New York City; and two grandchildren. A brother, C. Sumner Williams, died in January of this year.
Services and burial will be private.

Lt. Col. William M. Brulle
EASTON - Lt. Col. William Morris Brulle, U.S. Army/Retired of Easton died Saturday, July 29, 2000 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. He was 93.
Born in Fredericksburg, Va. on July 20, 1907, he was the son of the late William Henry and Rose Frances Stoll Brulle.
A 1932 graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a B.S. in Economics, he earned a Masters Degree in Financial Management from George Washington University in 1967. Following his graduation from Johns Hopkins, he taught for a year and was associated with the Baltimore Emergency Relief Committee as a social worker for four years. He then worked for the Commercial Credit Corporation until joining the U.S. Army in 1942. During World War II, he served in the European Theatre of Operations in Military Government. He retired from the military in 1960, at which time he moved to Easton.
Lt. Col. Brulle was a member of the AARP, a former member of the Miles River Power Squadron, the B P.O. Elks, Lodge #1622, Easton, and the Talbot County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League.
His wife, the former Ernestine M. Summers, whom he married in 1946, died in 1980.
Lt. Col. Brulle is survived by a sister, Marjorie B. Shook of Irvington, Va., and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military honors were held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 814 Light Street, Baltimore, Md. 21230.
Arrangements are by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton.
