She was born November 4, 1918 in Gable, South Carolina the daughter of the late Bunyan Mahoney Tallon and the late Ida Viola Tallon (nee Newman). She was a homemaker. Lillie Ruth Boblitz Boone, age 93, of Westminster, formerly of Woodbury, died Monday, November 29, 2010, at Brinton Woods Nursing Home in Sykesville. She was the wife of the late Charles “Pat” Boone, Sr. She was born November 16, 1917 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Walter Boblitz and the late Birdie Barger Boblitz and the late step-mother Elsie Boblitz. She was a homemaker. She worked at Hooper Mill and was a secretary at St. Thomas Aquinas Church and a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Mothers Club. She enjoyed bowling and was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed music and movies of Frank Sinatra. She was the mother of Barbara A. Fogler of Westminster and the late Charles C. “Pat” Boone, Jr. She was the sister of the late Oliver Boblitz and the late Emma Long. She was born April 18, 1913 in Carroll County, MD the daughter of the late Oliver Fleming and the late Elsie (Wetzel) Fleming. She was a homemaker and had worked for the Mackie Company. She loved to work in her garden and was a musician and an artist. Sylvia Eloise (Burgess) Smith, age 53, of Gaithersburg, MD, died Thursday December 2, 2010, at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney, MD, after Battling Cancer. She was the spouse of Howard E. Smith, Jr. of Gaithersburg. She was born June 13, 1957 in Frederick, MD the daughter of Beulah AnnaMae (Burgess)Luby and the late Charles Edward Luby, Sr. She was retired from the State Roads Administration. She enjoyed doing Search and Find Puzzles and Spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by 3 daughters: Lychelle Smith of Gaithersburg, Tasha Fulton of Gaithersburg, and Crisie Smith of Germantown, Brothers: Jeffrey, Charles, Jr., Stanford, Wayne and John Luby, Sister Theresa Dawson, 6 Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Charles H. Klaus, Sr., age 96, of Woodlawn, Died peacefully, Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at his home, following a brief illness. He was born March 10, 1914 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late John W. Klaus, Sr. and the late Katherine D. Klaus (nee Ahring). He was a faithful member of the Independent Order of Old Fellows for 75 years. As well as belonging to the Rebecca’s’ Lodge. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge. President of Calvert Distillery Retiree’s Club, longtime member of the Salem U.M. Church in Hebbville, MD. He was the husband of Frances B. Klaus (nee Brophy) of 49 years. He was the father of- Charles H. Klaus, Jr and wife Raye and Cassie A. Klaus-Maye and husband Merrill. Also survived by his loving and faithful companion Margaret “Dolly” Duvall, 4 granddaughters, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Palmer, Jr., William M.
Major William Merrill Palmer Jr., USMC (ret.), age 64, passed away, Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at his home in Sykesville with his family by his side. He was born on October 30, 1945 in Baltimore, MD, to William M. Palmer Sr. and Doris K. Palmer. He was the older brother of David and Dennis Palmer. He attended the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Georgia Tech University, and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1968. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Marine Aviator until his retirement in 1988. Maj. Palmer was a Vietnam Veteran, flying CH-46 helicopters as well as the A-4 Skyhawk later in his career. He also worked for US Airways, Northrop Grumman, and taught math at North Carroll and Westminster High Schools until the month before his passing. He was married
to Carol Ann Jespersen in Dallas, TX on October 14, 1978. He was a father to two boys, Jonathan Samuel, married
to Kelly Seebold, and Christopher Andrew, married
to Andria Langham. He also had one grandchild, Reese Addison, two dogs, and several “grand-dogs”, as he was fond to call them. Maj. Palmer was fond of many activities. He loved to sail, was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Navy football, coached South Carroll football and Freedom Optimist lacrosse, and watched the athletic events of his sons. He loved to tell jokes, and always enjoyed a good laugh. He had a zest for life, always with a smile on his face. He is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Carol Palmer of Sykesville, sons and daughters in law, Chris and Andi Palmer of Valdosta, GA; and Jon and Kelly Palmer of Great Mills, MD; brothers and sisters in law, Dennis and Karen Palmer of Kildeer, IL and David and Debby Palmer of Towson, MD; nieces Nina Lorenz Palmer and Martha Hagenbuch; and nephew Stephen Palmer. He is also survived by a very large extended family in Texas. The Family will welcome visitors on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Mr. Robert Eugene Burgess, 78, of Orrtanna PA. formerly of Mt. Airy, MD, went home to be with the Lord Saturday December 11, 2010 at his daughter’s home in Frederick MD. He was born June 1, 1932 in New Market, MD the son of the late Charles Thurman Burgess and Lyda Ann Kelly Burgess. He was the husband of Dorothy May Snyder Burgess his wife of more then 57 years. He retired from NIH in 1975, he received several awards for his work as an employee and civil servant . He served as a Deacon at Mt. Airy Full Gospel Church for 5 years and was a Bus driver for Carroll County Public Schools for 11 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are Daughters Linda and Husband Kenneth Disque of Orrtanna, PA and Deborah and David Fox of Frederick, MD 3 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren and a Brother James Burgess of Baltimore, MD He is preceded in death by two sisters E.
