William H. Horn
MYERSVILLE, Md. - William H. Horn, 82, of Pleasant Walk Road, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born March 6, 1915, in Fannettsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Morgan D. and Fannie Newman Horn.
After his retirement from AMPS in Carlisle, Pa., he was a master clock and furniture craftsman.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 12th Division, from 1942 to 1945.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Wolfsville, Md.
He was a member of AMVETS, American Legion and VFW in Chambersburg, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Eccard Horn; three stepchildren, Bill Burhman and Charlotte Wisner, both of Wolfsville, and Andrea Palmer of Myersville; two brothers, Glenn Horn of Shippensburg, Pa., and Ira Horn of Carlisle; eight stepgrandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in Wolfsville. The Rev. Randall Reid will officiate. Burial will be in Salem United Methodist Cemetery in Wolfsville.
The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Verne M. Glaser
FREDERICK, Md. - Verne M. Glaser, 75, of 708 Wyngate Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born April 13, 1922, in Greencastle, Pa., he was the son of the late Lewis and Ruth McFadden Glaser.
He retired in 1984 as an internal auditor after 33 years of employment with Peoples Life Insurance Co.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Southwest Pacific Theater and graduated from the Command and General Staff College. He was a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was a life member of John R. Webb VFW Post 3285 in Frederick, and the VFW's Golf Club; and a member of Catoctin Club, Fraternal Order of Elks Lodge 684 of Frederick, and Reserve Officers Association.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Geraldine M. Glaser; one son, John L. Glaser of Germantown, Md.; one sister, Ruth Glaser of Maugansville; two brothers, L.E. Glaser of New Windsor and Darrow Glaser of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Capt. Stanley D. Arnold will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Gardens in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Friends may also call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m.

Kenneth E. Mowen
Kenneth Edward Mowen, 66, of 20302 Lehmans Mill Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 3, 1931, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Alvey Willis Mowen and Elizabeth Viola Eakle Mowen Gallion and stepson of the late Marshall William Gallion Sr.
He was employed by the City of Hagerstown and Mainling Service.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Broadfording Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Bussard Mowen; two sons, Steve W. Mowen and Brad Mowen, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Sally Farris of Hagerstown and Doris Gallion-Farris of Cumberland, Md.; three brothers, Alvey R. Mowen, Robert "Bill" Mowen and Marshall "Sonny" Mowen, all of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; and great-nephew, Matthew Bussard, whom he raised.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty J. Bussard; and two brothers, Rodger Mowen and John B. Mowen.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Broadfording Church of God, 16109 Broadfording Road, Hagerstown. The Rev. William C. Crowe and the Rev. James Caldwell will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Sarah M. Herold
Sarah May Herold, 62, of 147 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at Colton Villa Nursing Center.
Born Feb. 15, 1936, in Elizabeth, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Leon and Harriet Covil Milton.
She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy W. Herold; three sons, Raymond Herold, Vincent Herold and William Herold, all of Hagerstown; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard W. Simpson will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
Lloyd E. Wilhide
WILLIAMSPORT - Lloyd Elmer Wilhide, 99, formerly of the Deerfield and Sabillasville, Md., area, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport, where he resided.
Born Sept. 22, 1898, in Deerfield, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Clara K. Damuth Wilhide.
He was a retired contract school bus driver in Frederick County, driving for more than 40 years. He also farmed in the Deerfield area.
He was a life-long member of Deerfield United Methodist Church in Deerfield, and was Sunday school superintendent for many years.
He is the last of his immediate family, and is survived by two nieces, Vada Stiles of Boonsboro and Kathleen Dear of Wilburton, Okla.; one great-niece; four great-nephews; six great-great-nieces; and two great-great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Wilhide; and one brother, William Wilhide.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St., Thurmont, Md. The Rev. George Tuggle and the Rev. James Coblentz will officiate. Burial will be in Weller Cemetery in Thurmont.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Louise E. Gaver
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Louise E. Gaver, 83, of Church Hill Road, died Monday, March 2, 1998, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born March 25, 1914, in Lakeside, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Bertha Parkinson Routenberg.
Her husband, Dr. Leo J. Gaver, died in 1995.
She was a 1931 graduate of Catonsville High School.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Myersville, and had been a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baltimore and the church choir.
She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Gaver Whistler of Myersville; and two grandchildren, Christine Whistler of Arlington, Va., and Robert Whistler, serving with the U.S. Navy in Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by one son, Richard Gaver; and one brother, Tommy Routenberg.
Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Church Hill Road, Myersville. The Rev. David Howell will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Myersville.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville.

FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Services for Sandra Jean Moore, 40, of 6827 Tara Road, who died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, will be today at 1 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. Pastor Betty Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Errol T. Wallace
BRONX, N.Y. - Errol Tyrone Wallace, 55, of 161 Morris Ave., died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, in the Bronx.
Born Oct. 15, 1942, in Norfolk, Va., he was the son of the late James A. and Margaret Wallace.
He attended North Street School in Hagerstown.
For several years, he was a drug store manager. He was retired.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Wallace of White Plains, N.Y.; two brothers, James "Butch" Wallace of New York and John Wallace Sr. of Philadelphia; one aunt, Vivian Barnes Mason of Hagerstown; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Kings Apostle Holiness Church of God, Bethel Street, Hagerstown. Elder Darlene Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Arrangements are by Watson Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
Martha J. Hockersmith
Martha Jane Hockersmith, 84, formerly of Harvard Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Homewood Retirement Center, Williamsport.
Born Feb. 10, 1914, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harper S. and Emma K. Miller Bonebrake.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Samuel Hockersmith.
She was employed by E.J. Fennel. She was previously employed by L'Aiglon and Dorbee Manufacture Co.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one sister, Ruth Grohl of Niles, Ohio; one brother, Harper J. Bonebrake of Waynesboro, Pa.; two nieces; two nephews; one great-niece; and three great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Rollins.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate.
There will be no viewing.

Albert D. Jones
Albert David Jones, 75, of 100 Fairground Ave., Hagerstown, who died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, was the son of the late Oscar and Catherine Rowe Jones. He is survived by a sister, Grace Mayhue of Hagerstown.
