Albert D. Jones
Albert David Jones, 75, of 100 Fairground Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born June 7, 1922, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Oscar and Bertha Rowe Jones.
He retired from Central Coca-Cola Bottling Co.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 694.
He is survived by his wife, Doris L. Hiser Jones; three daughters, Judy Koehrer, Donna Brown and Mary Showe, all of Hagerstown; four sons, Harold Jones, Walter Barnhart Sr. and Clyde Barnhart, all of Hagerstown, and Donald Barnhart of Inwood, W.Va.; one sister, Grace Mayhew of Hagerstown; three brothers, Oscar Jones, Lloyd Jones and Harry Jones Sr., all of Hagerstown; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Paul Reno will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Marian W. Jennings
Marian W. Jennings, 87, of 17314 Ontario Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 23, 1910, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Grace Bowers Weaver.
Her husband, Dr. George Jennings, died in 1974.
She was a graduate of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia.
She was a member of Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown.
She also was a member of Women's Auxiliary of Washington County Hospital and Women's Aglow.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda J. Wolford of Hagerstown, and Karen J. Davies of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one sister, Ruth Hiltebeitel of Spring City, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son, George Jennings III; one sister, Dorothy Frederick; one brother, Lewis Weaver; and one great-grandson.
Private services will be today at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Joseph W. Davies Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Flo A.G. Rhodes
Flo A. Geyer Rhodes, 83, a resident of Garlock Manor Nursing Home in Hagerstown, and formerly of Waynesboro, Pa., died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998.
Born Aug. 28, 1914, in Quincy, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Albert and Elsie C. McFerren Geyer.
Her husband, Thomas L. Rhodes, died in 1970.
She was a 1932 graduate of Quincy High School.
She was employed at Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing in Hagerstown.
She is the last of her immediate family and is survived by two grandchildren, Karen A. Bryan of Clear Spring, and Andrew C. Rhodes of Hagerstown; one great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas R. Rhodes, and nine brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.
There will be no public viewing.
Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
Sandra J. Moore
FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Sandra Jean Moore, 40, of 6827 Tara Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, from injuries suffered in a vehicle accident.
Born March 25, 1957, in Hagerstown, she is the daughter of Gene R. and Shirley T. Sours Moore of Hagerstown.
She graduated from the School of Nursing at Wye Mills College.
She was a nursing assistant at Dorchester Hospital.
She attended Mount Hope Outreach and Bible Studies.
In Hagerstown, she attended Trinity Bible Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by three daughters, Tawney Lake Morgan and Trine Rae Webster, both of Hagerstown, and Tiari Che Grover of Kent Island, Md.; two brothers, Gerald "Jerry" Moore of Hagerstown, and Ricky Moore of Shelby, N.C.; and one grandson.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. Pastor Betty Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Ruth Y. Bailey
Ruth Y. Bailey, 92, of 20217 Robinwood Court, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 10, 1905, in Cradon, Wis., she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Fanny Elizabeth Stickney VanZile.
Her husband, Ferber Bailey, died in 1968.
She was a graduate of LaSierra College in Riverside, Calif.
She was an elementary school teacher for the Seventh-day Adventist School System and the public school system in Wisconsin.
She and her husband were part of a group of 200 families that moved to Matanuska Valley, Alaska, in 1935, to colonize the area for the United States government.
She was a member of Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Nona F. Cummings of Hagerstown, Janice Kvale of Anchorage, Alaska, and Ardith Wahelan of Carson City, Nev.; one son, Ferber Gene Bailey of Shelton, Wash.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, David Ralph Bailey; and nine brothers and sisters.
Services will be announced later.

Judy C. Vaughn
Judy Corrigan Vaughn, 83, of 338 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 22, 1914, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Nora L. Duffy Corrigan.
Her husband, Gilmore "Jim" L. Vaughn, died in 1978.
Known as "Miss Judy," she started her dance career in the chorus line of Roxy Theatre in New York City. She taught dance in New Jersey before coming to Hagerstown. She taught both tap and ballet to thousands of children in Hagerstown and surrounding areas for 45 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She was a member of Dance Masters of America.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy R. Vaughn of Hagerstown; one son, P. Richard Melintz of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Terrence Patrick Hourigan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. George Limmer as celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Daniel Hopkinson
GOLDSBORO, N.C. - Daniel Hopkinson, 85, of Goldsboro, and formerly of Sharpsburg, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Bryan Center in Goldsboro.
Born May 24, 1912, in London, England, he was the son of the late Samuel Hen and Florence Yarwood Hopkinson.
His wife, Florence Elizabeth Hopkinson, died in 1983.
He was a retired security officer with the British Embassy in Washington, D.C.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the British Army.
He was a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church in Goldsboro.
He is survived by three daughters, Jean Lewis of Goldsboro, Rita Myers of Gambrills, Md., and Maureen Brizzi of Southern, Md.; two sons, Daniel E. Hopkinson of Silver Spring, Md., and Terence Hopkinson of Sharpsburg; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by 22 sisters and brothers.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Samples Manor Cemetery in Samples Manor. The Rev. Albert K. Lane III will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Amos A. Holter
JEFFERSON, Md. - Amos A. Holter, 88, of 6102 Holter Road, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born on the farm where he resided, Aug. 15, 1909, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Annie C.C. Bussard Holter.
His wife, Frances Slifer Holter, died in 1990. They were married Sept. 20, 1933.
He was a 1926 graduate of Middletown High School. He attended University of Maryland at College Park, pursuing combined courses in arts and law, where in 1930, he attained a bachelor of arts degree with honors, and in 1932, received a LLB degree.
He was admitted to the bar of the State of Maryland on Nov. 15, 1932, and immediately became an associate in the office of Leslie N. Coblentz. After Coblentz's death, he continued to practice as a sole practitioner until 1996 when he joined the firm of Offutt, Horman, Burdette and Frey P.A.
In 1935, he was elected to the board of directors of the Commercial Bank of Maryland and was appointed attorney to the same institution, serving until the consolidation of that bank with Western Maryland Trust Co. in 1938. For many years he was president of City Business Properties Inc. and assisted in the matters pertaining to the construction and operation of the first Sears store in Frederick, Md., at 10-12 W. Patrick St. in 1936.
In 1947, he became attorney for Frederick County National Bank, a relationship continued in a limited capacity until his death. In 1948, he was elected to the board of directors of Frederick County National Bank and served in that capacity for 40 years.
He was a member of Kiwanis Club, with perfect attendence for more than 17 years. He also was a member of the board of directors of School of Nursing when the school was operated by Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was a member of American Bar Association, Maryland Bar Association and Frederick County Bar Association, where he served as president and secretary for 10 years.
He was a life-long member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Middletown, Md., where he served as deacon, elder and chairman of the congregation, and as a member of the choir for 33 years. He also was a member of the Sunday school, serving as a teacher and general superintendent.
He is survived by three children, Mary Ann Smith and Amos A. Holter Jr., both of Jefferson, and Alice V. Linton of Frederick; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one grandson.
A private service will be at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. Mark A. Wakefield will officiate. Burial will be in Reformed Cemetery in Middletown.
A public memorial service will be Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m. at Christ Reformed Church in Middletown.
