Tracy Lynn Hays Bailey Shaffer
Tracy Lynn Hays Bailey Shaffer, 43, of Maugansville, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 2, 1962, she was the daughter of Barbara Ward Schildtknecht and stepdaughter of Donald B. Schildtknecht Sr. of Williamsport, and Donald L. Hays and stepdaughter of Gloria S. Hays. Tracy worked as a process analyst for Morgan Chase Co. in Frederick, Md. She was a graduate of Clear Spring High School.
She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Shaffer; two sons, John William Bailey Jr. and Dalton Cole Bailey, both at home; one sister, Donna L. Bingaman of Clio, Mich.; one brother, Bryan K. Schildtknecht of Hagerstown; one stepsister; two stepbrothers; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at 1 p.m.
at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown,
with the Rev. Loyal Vanderveer officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven cemetery.
Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruth Elizabeth Alder Semler
Ruth Elizabeth "Susie" Alder Semler, 78, of Hagerstown, died Friday, March 24, 2006, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 20, 1927, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Robert Henson and Mary Ellen Kreps Alder. She was employed by Dorbee's Clothing Manufacturer as a spreader. She was a Methodist.
She was a member of VFW Post 1936 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Woodrow Wilson Semler; two sons, Richard L. Semler of Beltsville, Md., and Harold W. Semler of Hagerstown;
two sisters, Jane W. Rock and Helen L. Brashears, both of Hagerstown; two granddaughters; one grandson; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle I. Swartz, Frances V. Hoover
and Mary C. Morningstar; and three brothers, James R. Alder, Thomas E. Alder and William H. Alder.
Services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown.
The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rest Haven cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday
one half-hour prior to services at the funeral home.
John Edward Long
John Edward Long, 89, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
He was the son of the late Calvin D. Long and Dicey V. Long. He was preceded in death by one sister, Leila V. Long; and two beloved canine pals, Rap and Blackjack. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane B. Long of Hagerstown; and one daughter, Eleanor C. Long of Roanoke, Va. He was born in Baltimore in 1916 and was a 1935 graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. He moved to Hagerstown in 1939 and was employed by Pangborn Corporation, Fairchild Aircraft and several local structural steel firms. He was recognized as a
premier engineer and designer by his professional peers. He was an accomplished musician trained in classical Spanish guitar. He played in local dance bands for decades and taught guitar at Phillips Musicland for many years. He had a lifelong interest in model railroading, trains and railroads. In 1982, he established the Locomotive 202 Foundation to fund the restoration of the Western Maryland Railway steam engine in City Park. That work led to his acquisition of additional rolling stock and artifacts that now are on display in the
Railroad Museum at City Park. He felt this was a good way to thank the city of Hagerstown for giving him many positive life opportunities. He was one of three recipients of the 2005 People's Choice Awards from the
Community Foundation of Washington County for his volunteer work.
Services will be Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at 11 a.m. at
Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert Moales will officiate.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
at the funeral home.

Jacob Kline Jack Fawver
Jacob Kline "Jack" Fawver, 91, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 17, 1914, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Floyd Granville and Beatrice Lee Kline Fawver. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Ruth Fawver. He retired from Howmet Aluminum in Lancaster, Pa., after 35 years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.
He was a member of the Washington County Auxiliary, Robert White Masonic Lodge AF&AM, past master of Tall Cedars of Lebanon 95 and a member of BPOE 378. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Virginia Higgins-Fawver; one daughter, Peggy L. Hall of Jacksonville, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Marianne Rennie of
Columbus, Ohio; one stepson, William S. Higgins of Hagerstown; and two stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Jack Fawver II.
Services will be private.

Twila Virginia Brackman
Twila Virginia Brackman, 84, of Hagerstown died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at Fahrney Keedy Nursing Home in Boonsboro.
Born July 21, 1921, in Rainelle, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late David and Nannie Jones Goddard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elisha Ray Brackman. She retired from Universal Electric in Alta Vista, Va. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church in Hagerstown. She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Brown of Hagerstown; two sons, Ray E. Surbaugh of Stafford, Va., and David Brackman of Hurt, Va.;
one brother, Andy Goddard of Williamsbury, Ky.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Jiles.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel in Hagerstown.
Pastor Mark Pittman will officiate. Burial will follow in Rest Haven cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Calvin Earl Parkinson
Calvin Earl Parkinson, 81, of Hagerstown, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at his home.
Born on Sept. 27, 1924, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Norval Ray and Rosa I. (Harrison) Parkinson. Mr. Parkinson was an active member and deacon of Paramount Baptist Church, Hagerstown.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He retired as a supervisor with 30 years of service
from the U.S. Post Office in Hagerstown. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. McConnell of Hagerstown and Beverly J. Cramer of Inwood, W.Va.; two grandsons, Joseph B. Young of
Hagerstown and Michael A. McConnell of Shermansdale, Pa.; two granddaughters, Michele D. Emery and Jennifer A. Barrow, both of Inwood; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Reva Belle (Shackelford) Parkinson; and two brothers,
Roy Parkinson and Glenn Parkinson.
Funeral services will be conducted at Paramount Baptist Church, Hagerstown,
on Saturday, April 1, 2006, at 10 a.m.
with the Rev. Larry Rickard and the Rev. Devin Ward officiating.
Private entombment will be conducted at Rest Haven cemetery.

Glenn Martin Roher
Glenn Martin Roher, 84, of Virginia Beach, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital.
He was born in Security, Md., on July 14, 1921, the son of the late Paul and Viola Mae (McCaulister) Roher. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and also was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired after 25 years as a truck driver with the Teamsters. He was a member of Hagerstown Lodge 217 AF&AM; and, he was a 32nd Degree Scottish Right Free Mason. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Martha Jane (Fambrough) Roher; a son, Robert C. Roher and his wife, Judy, of Virginia Beach; and a grandson, Barry J. Roher and his wife, Sonya, of Callands, Va. He also is survived by seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Roher Jr. and Fred Roher; and sisters, Milberg Hurd, Lena Trovinger, Macy Butts and Joy Slick.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. David G. Fambrough will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery, military honors will follow. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where a memorial service by Hagerstown Lodge 217 AF&AM will be held at 6 p.m
Ruby Joyce Shaffer Wolfe
Ruby Joyce Shaffer Wolfe, 71, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 28, 1934, in Indiana, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Thomas Shaffer and Thelma Irene Mears Swope Parran. She was a 1952 graduate of Hagerstown High School. She retired from Maryland Ribbon. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. Churchey of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kathy L. Metcalf of St. Augustine, Fla.; one son, Daniel B. Wilson II of Tunnel Hill, Ga.; one brother, James C. Parran of Clear Spring; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Christie L. Wilson; and one son, Raymond E. Wilson.

Leonard Wilson Griffith
Leonard Wilson "Jiggs" Griffith, 92, of Hagerstown, formerly of Boonsboro, died, Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Washington County Hospital.
Born on June 30, 1913 in Keedysville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Samuel James and Carrie E. Lapole) Griffith. Mr. Griffith retired in 1975 from Fairchild Aircraft with 35 years of service. He was a member of the Boonsboro Bible Church, The A.A.R.P. and the Region 8 U.A.W. He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Shank) Griffith, two grandsons, five great grandchildren and two great great grandsons. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle John, Edna Mayhue and Helen Bowers and by two brothers, Ralph Griffith and Fred Griffith.
Graveside services will be conducted at Boonsboro cemetery on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Robert Welty officiating. Interment will follow. Anna Grace Powell
Anna Grace Powell, 82, of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 2, 1923, in Petersburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Edwin Guy and Louella Vivian (Rinehart) Feaster. Mrs. Powell was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown. She had worked at Fairchild Aircraft, and retired as a beautician with Studio B in Hagerstown. She is survived by one son, Robert E. Powell and wife, Sandra, of Hagerstown; one brother, the Rev. Robert K. Feaster and wife, Barbara, of Franklin, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Kristin D. Strong and husband, Mark, of Baltimore; two great-grandchildren, Aimee Strong and Ben Strong, both of Baltimore; six nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Malcolm Haney Powell; and a half brother, John G. Roby.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Clark D. Carr and the Rev. Robert K. Feaster officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Claude Ellsworth Showe
Claude Ellsworth Showe, Jr., 70, of Greencastle, formerly of Hagerstown, passed away, Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Manor Care Home, Chambersburg.
Born on October 24, 1935 he was the son of the late Claude E. Showe, Sr. and Ida Mae (Daley) Showe. Mr. Showe was employed by Grove Manufacturing as a parts and sales supervisor for 20 years before purchasing Franco's Tavern, Hagerstown where he retired in 1996. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a lifetime member and Past Commander of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373, Greencastle, Member of the Harry D. Ziegler VFW Post #6319, Greencastle and a Life member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post #42, Hagerstown where he was a Charter and lifetime member of the Korean Last Man's Club.
His hobbies included Golfing, Hunting, Fishing and time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Linda L. Seek and husband Tim of Frederick and Sharon K. Showe of Zullinger, PA; three sons, Kenneth L. Showe and companion Helen Troxell of Hagerstown, Duane L. Showe and wife Kendra of Boonsboro and Jeffrey A. Showe of Hagerstown; three sisters, Jeannie Koontz of Coseytown, Shirley Herbert and Beverly Kifer, both of Hagerstown; three brothers, Mickey Showe, Gary W. Showe and Richard L. Showe, all of Hagerstown, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and friend, Darwin Cook of Greencastle.In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Louise (Reynolds) Showe on July 29, 1987, his second wife, Mary Lou (Wyand) Showe on August 25, 1995 and his companion, Charlotte Harne and one sister, Debbie Showe.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Jeff Gehris officiating. At his request his body will be cremated. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6-8 P.M. where members of the Harry D. Ziegler VFW Post #6319 will hold a memorial service at 7:00 P.M.
