Mr. Paul Haupt

Mr. Paul Grayson Haupt, 81, of Silver Spring, died Monday, Jan. 28, at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring.

He was the husband of Sophia Haupt.

Born Oct. 2, 1920, in Myersville, he was a son of the late Columbus Washington and Anna Flook Haupt.

Mr. Haupt was a member of Woodside United Methodist Church, Silver Spring.

He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting with his son.

He was an avid Redskins fan.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are one son, D. Gary Haupt and wife Sandi; four stepchildren, Janet (Richard), Carol (Jim) and Richard (Brenda) Keller, and Loraine (Allen) Butler; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan 31, at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd., West, Silver Spring, where funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1.

Interment will be in Mount Zion Methodist cemetery, Myersville.

Mrs. Ada V. Kelley
Dated: Thursday, January 31, 2002.
Mrs. Ada V. Fagan Kelley, 92, of Baltimore, formerly of New Windsor, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Memorial Hospital, York, Pa.

She was the wife of the late Ralph L. Kelley.

Born Nov. 29, 1909, in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Ellen Owings Fagan.

Mrs. Kelley was a housewife.

Surviving are one son, Robert F. Kelley Sr. of Severn; one daughter, Carol Williams of Baltimore; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mindy Coates of Bethel United Methodist Church, New Windsor, officiating.

Mr. Richard Wagerman
Dated: Monday, February 4, 2002.
Mr. Richard Emory "Bud" Wagerman, 73, of West Main Street, Emmitsburg, died Saturday Feb. 2, at Gettysburg Hospital, Gettysburg, Pa.

Born July 31, 1928, in Emmitsburg, he was a son the late George Samuel and Alice Elizabeth Ohler Wagerman.

Mr. Wagerman was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver for 40 years.

He was a member of Francis X. Elder American Legion Post 121, Emmitsburg; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6658, Emmitsburg; and AMVETS Post 7, Thurmont.

Surviving are one son, Lamar Richard Wagerman and wife Mary Ann of Thurmont; two grandchildren, Lamar R. Wagerman II and wife Barbara of Emmitsburg, and Michelle Hahn and husband Brian Sr. of Fairfield, Pa.; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Helen Strayer of Fairfield, Betty Garman of Elkhart, Ind., and Anna Moser, Virginia Krietz and Patricia Croft, all of Gettysburg; and four brothers, Jack Wagerman, James Wagerman and Kenneth Wagerman, all of Emmitsburg, and George Wagerman of Charles Town, W.Va.

Mr. Wagerman was preceded in death by a sister, Freda Eversole.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Skiles Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg. Funeral services will be held there at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7.

Interment will be in Emmitsburg Memorial cemetery.

Mr. Lemuel Seabright
Dated: Monday, February 4, 2002.
Mr. Lemuel T. Seabright, 85, of 6604 Gilardi Road, Boonsboro, formerly of Bladensburg, died Sunday, Feb. 3, at Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro.

He was the husband of Dorothy E. Welch Seabright, who died in 1977. They were married 40 years.

Born Aug. 17, 1916, in Washington, he was a son of the late Arthur T. and Elsie L. Hayes Seabright.

Mr. Seabright had retired in 1979 from the Government Printing Office in Washington.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army's 88th Blue Devil Division in Italy.

Mr. Seabright was a Protestant.

He was past master of York Lodge 225 AF&A Masons, Cheverly. He was a member of Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211, Funkstown; AMVETS Post 10, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1936, and Eagles Club 694, all of Hagerstown; North American Rod and Gun Club, and the South Mountain Rod and Gun Club.

Surviving are one son, Jerry T. Seabright of Rohrersville; four grandchildren, Jeffrey T. Seabright of Sharpsburg, Joel E. Seabright of Boonsboro, James T. Seabright of Middletown, and Jennifer Poling of Boonsboro; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Seabright was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Reiley.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Funeral services will be held there at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Fort Lincoln cemetery, Brentwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boonsboro Volunteer Fire Co., 5 St. Paul St., Boonsboro, Md. 21713.

Mr. William Martin
Dated: Tuesday, February 5, 2002.
Mr. William Calvin Martin, 83, of Thurmont, died Sunday, Feb. 3, at St. Catherine's Nursing Center, Emmitsburg.

He was the husband of the late Anna Catherine Smith Martin and the late Mary Catherine Moser Martin.

Born June 15, 1918, in Thurmont, he was the son of the late Calvin Stewart and Bessie Marie Eichelberger Martin.

He worked for the state Roads Department for 20 years; as a lab technician at Fort Detrick for 22 years retiring in 1969, and then worked for the county Roads Department for 10 years, retiring in 1979.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a member of Edwin C. Creeger American Legion Post, Thurmont.

He loved working outdoors as well as hunting and fishing.

He is survived by son-in-law, Franklin L. Valentine of Thurmont; one grandson, Franklin William Valentine and wife Vickie of Thurmont; two great-granddaughters, Lacee Marie Valentine and Emilee Anna Valentine, both of Thurmont; one sister, Rita Shuff of Thurmont; and two brothers, Floyd Martin of Thurmont, and Edwin Martin of Largo, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara A. Valentine, who died May 12, 2001.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, with Dr. James Fisher, of Trinity United Church of Christ, officiating.

Interment will be in Blue Ridge cemetery, Thurmont.

Mrs. Katherine Arrington
Dated: Tuesday, February 5, 2002.
Mrs. Katherine G. Arrington, 95, formerly of Sykesville, died Sunday, Feb. 3, at her son's home in Mount Airy.

She was the wife of Daniel Richard Arrington, who died in 1987.

Born Dec. 29, 1906, in Richlands, Tazzwell County, Va., she was the daughter of the late George William and Ida Sarah Bailey Hurt.

She was a graduate of Bel Air High School and of the former Towson Normal School (teacher's college).

She taught at the former Marriottsville School House. She was also a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, D. Richard Arrington Jr. and wife Dorothy of Mount Airy, George W. Arrington and wife Sharon of Marlinton, W.Va., and Louis C. Arrington and wife Sandra of Madison, Wis.; one sister, Mary Slagle of Woodbine; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James P. Hurt Sr. and George Hurt; and two sisters, Elizabeth Amoss and Virginia Slagle.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Haight Funeral Home, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Douglas Hoffman.

Interment will be in Mount View cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, West Friendship, or to the Hospice of one's choice.

Mrs. Edith Turner
Dated: Tuesday, February 5, 2002.
Mrs. Edith Arline Turner, 82, of Silver Spring, died Sunday, Feb. 3, at her home.

She was the wife of the late Stirling C. Turner.

Born April 10, 1919, in Cloverly, she was a daughter of the late Archibald Stirling and Pearl Nathalie Harding Turner.

She graduated from Sherwood High School, Sandy Spring.

She was a member of Spencerville Seventh-day Adventist Church, Spencerville.

She was a homemaker and a seamstress and enjoyed needlework, gardening and music. She also loved animals.

She did her family genealogy and also helped others with theirs.

She was a volunteer for Montgomery General Hospital and helped make party favors for the patients at holiday times.

She was a member of Sandy Spring Museum, Montgomery County Historical Society, National Poetry Society and Cloverly Homemakers.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Donna Marie Engelhard of Mount Airy, Deborah Darlene Johnson of Silver Spring, Michael Wayne Turner of Ashton, and Nancy Louise Kohanyi of Damascus.

Friends may call Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Harding Family cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Hospice, 9805 Dameron Drive, Silver Spring, Md. 20902.

Mr. Elmer Martin
Dated: Tuesday, February 5, 2002.
Mr. Elmer G. Martin, 87, a resident of Shook Home, Chambersburg, Pa., formerly of Wilson Avenue, Chambersburg, died Sunday, Feb. 3, at the home.

He was the husband of Ida P. Burkholder Martin, who died Oct. 30, 1987.

Born May 30, 1914, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Elmer and Della Mae Myers Martin.

He had been employed by the former Martin Brothers Grocery and later by the former Hollar's Grocery Store, both in Chambersburg.

He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Chambersburg.

He was a member of Junior Hose and Truck Co. 2, Chambersburg.

He is survived by two sons, Elmer G. Martin Jr. and wife Carmen of Walkersville, and Thomas A. Martin and wife Brenda of Chambersburg; one sister, Louise Cromwell of Chambersburg; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Irvin.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, where viewing will be held at noon prior to the services Thursday. The Rev. Dr. C. Edward Morgan will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Building 2, Suite 321, 2001 N. Front St., Harrisburg, Pa. 17102; or to the American Heart Association, Franklin/Fulton Division, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Mr. George Offutt
Dated: Tuesday, February 5, 2002.
Mr. George William "Bill" Offutt, 71, of 114 Bayberry Court, Stephens City, Va., died Sunday, Feb. 3, in Winchester Medical Center.

He was the husband of Margaret Lou Harper, whom he married Aug. 12, 1950, in St. Rose of Lima Church, Germantown.

Born July 11, 1930, in Eckhardt, he was the son of Ruth Elizabeth Filsinger Offutt of Frederick and the late Ralph W. Offutt Sr.

He attended First United Methodist Church.

He retired from Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, as director of maintenance and safety.

He was a member of Knights of Pythias, Charles Town Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge 846 and Gaithersburg/Laytonsville Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, William Barry Offutt of Three Churches, W.Va.; one daughter, Claudia Kay Cole of Winchester, Va.; three grandchildren, Courtney and Brooke Offutt and Madeline Cole; one sister, Ruth Ann German of Frederick; and one brother, Ralph W. Offutt Jr. of Gaithersburg.

All services are private.

Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, Va.

Mrs. Kathryn McCormick
Dated: Wednesday, February 6, 2002.
Mrs. Kathryn M. McCormick, 75, of Frederick, died Monday, Feb. 4, at Northampton Manor Nursing Center, Frederick.

Born Dec. 5, 1926, in Bridgeport, Conn., she was a daughter of the late Joseph George and Mary Kelleher Maier.

Mrs. McCormick was a registered nurse.

She was a graduate of St. Joseph's College, West Hartford, Conn., in 1949, with a bachelor's degree.

She worked for 10 years as head of the Discharge Planning Department at Meridian Hospital, Meridian, Conn., then worked 15 years in the same capacity at Hillside Manor, Hartford, Conn., retiring in 1992.

Surviving are two sons, Richard J. McCormick and wife Dorly Piske of Laramie, Wyo., and Robert J. McCormick of Detroit; one daughter, Alice M. McCormick and husband Michael Steeves of Frederick; and four grandchildren, Ana Maria McCormick and Mathias McCormick both of Laramie, Timothy Steeves and Valeria Steeves, both of Frederick.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where Christian Wake services will be held at 8:45 p.m. Thursday.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 116 E. Second St., Frederick, with the Rev. Keith Boisvert as the celebrant.

Inurnment will take place in Connecticut at a later date.
