Mr. Joe Geouge

Joe E. Geouge, 80, of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Mary L. Geouge. They were married on October 28, 1950.

Born June 14, 1927 in Bandana, N.C., he was the son of the late, Nathan and Carrie Geouge.

Joe was a member of the US Army.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a heavy equipment construction worker, and he retired from RF Kline.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his five sons, Joe E. Geouge of Frederick, Robert C. Geouge and wife Mary of Thurmont, Kevin W. Geouge and wife Angie of Adamstown, Keith Gouge and wife Carolyn of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Brent A. Geouge of Rocky Ridge; 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four sisters, Marilyn Parsons, Gloria Stewart, M. Francis Creson, and Naomia Hensley, a half sister, Vesitina Buchanon, and a brother-in-law, Luther Canipe, all of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and four half sisters.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Friday, August 10. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to funeral services which begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, at the Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, with Rev. Linda Warehime officiating.

Interment will be in Brook Hill United Methodist Church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick.

Mr. Thomas Dorsey Jr.

Mr. Thomas William Dorsey Jr., 80, of Clarksburg, died early Monday morning, August 13, 2007, at his residence.

He was the husband of Mrs. Hester Catherine Blake Dorsey, his wife of 56 years.

Born on Dec. 2, 1926, in Lewisdale, he was the son of the late Thomas William Sr. and Mymie Elizabeth Lyles Dorsey. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and was a lifetime member of Pleasant Grove Christian Community Church, Damascus.

Mr. Dorsey was a plumber by trade and worked first for Jones of Damascus, then a long tenure with Montgomery County Public Schools.

First and foremost, he enjoyed his garden. He also enjoyed fishing and working crossword puzzles.

Besides his wife, Mr. Dorsey is survived by four children, Catherine E. Matthews and husband Otis of Montgomery Village, Thomas W. Dorsey III and wife Jacquelin of Clarksburg, Jeff T. Dorsey of London, England and Roxanne D. Plummer and husband Michael of Damascus; three grandchildren, Anthony K. Plummer, Thomas W. Dorsey IV and wife LaToya, and Krystal E. Dorsey; sister, Clara Mae Dorsey of Philadelphia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Pryor.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Christian Community Church cemetery, Damascus.

Mrs. Shirley Lee Danner

Shirley Lee Danner Wheeler, 68, of Charles Town, W.Va., died Friday, August 17, at her home.

Born October 11, 1938 in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Danner and Virginia Spring Danner.

She had worked for the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Parks Service.

Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Shepherdstown and also volunteered as secretary/treasurer for the Episcopal Church in Shepherdstown and Brunswick.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter #948.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and sewing.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Edward Nelson Wheeler; two sons, Edward Nelson Wheeler II, of Durham, N.C., and Wilson Andrew Wheeler, of Harpers Ferry; two daughters, Christina Arvin, of Boyce, Va., and Robin Marcus, of Charles Town, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Hagan and husband, Joseph of Hagerstown.

At her request her body was donated to the Humanity Gift Registry.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of her family.

Mr. Rudolf Knapp

Mr. Rudolf Franz Knapp, 67, of Walkersville, died on Thursday, August 16, at his residence. He was husband of Penny A. Van Ornum Knapp, his wife of 34 years.

Born on April 28, 1940, in Germany, he was the son of the late Franz and Annie Hamm Knapp. He was mechanical engineer for IBM, retiring in 1995, after 26 years service; and he then went on to work Pearson Digital Learning for an additional 10 years. Rudolf was a member of the Glade Valley Lions Club. He enjoyed skiing and hiking.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Michael Knapp of Utah and Stephen Knapp of Walkersville; and two sisters, Hanne Consee and Monika Knapp both of Germany.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, August 20, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where a service will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bert Lane, Rev. Steve Humphrey and Rev. Dahl Drennings officiating.

Interment will be private.

Mrs. Barbara Scwartzbeck

Mrs. Barbara Lee Norris Schwartzbeck, 66, of Monrovia, died on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick.

She was the wife of Mr. Ruben B. Schwartzbeck, her husband of 45 years.

Born on Oct. 3, 1940, in Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, she was the only child of the late Mrs. Alice Isabelle Kisner Norris, of Hagerstown, and of the late Andrew Leahy Norris. She graduated from Sherwood High School and worked as a salesperson at Woodward and Lothrop before starting a family.

She enjoyed all types of arts and crafts, especially ceramics.

Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Wanda Lee Thornton and Cherie Ann Phillips and husband Robert, all of Hagerstown; and four grandchildren, Brittany Lee and Eric Kenneth Long, and Alexa Rae and Samantha Nicole Phillips.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, from Lakewood Church of God, 22820 Frederick Road, Clarksburg. The Rev. Randy A. Dennis will officiate. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery, Silver Spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Liver Foundation, 7410 Georgia Ave., NW, Suite 4, Washington, DC 20012.

Mrs. Betty Leatherman

Betty Virginia Lerch Leatherman, 77, of Knoxville, died Monday, Aug. 20, at her home.

She was the wife of Richard Lee Leatherman.

Born in Knoxville, Oct. 31, 1929, she was a daughter of the late James Henry and Elsie May Fauble Lerch. She was a member of the Myersville Church of the Brethren. She was employed in her early by the Frederick Tailoring Co. and also part-time at the Myersville Post office.

Surviving, besides her husband, is one sister, Mary Elener Harne of Middletown, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her two brothers, Edward Lerch and Mervin Lerch.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, from the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Curvin D. Stambaugh, pastor of Locust Valley Bible Church, Middletown, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren cemetery, Myersville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick Co., P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21705 or to a church of one's choice.

Mr. William Schettler

On Saturday, August 18, 2007, William Eugene Schettler, of Silver Spring.

Beloved husband of Juana D. Schettler; father of Karen Schettler, David (Cathy) Schettler and Janet (Jay) Speak; grandfather of Julie and Emily Schettler, Jason and Adam McAndrews and the late Katherine Schettler; brother of John D. Schettler.

Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd., West, Silver Spring. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Hughes United Methodist Church, 10700 Georgia Ave., Wheaton, MD, 20902. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park.-- Memorial contributions may be made to Hughes United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Mrs. Lillian Johnson

Lillian Laura Hoke Johnson, 95, of Walkersville, died Monday, August 20, 2007, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville.

Born on January 15, 1912, in Middleburg, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Laura Strawsburg Clabaugh. She was the wife of Norville Thomas Johnson, who predeceased her in 1967.

Mrs. Johnson was formerly employed with Cambridge Rubber Company, Taneytown, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the American Legion, Woodsboro. She enjoyed puzzles, game shows, and baseball, especially the Baltimore Orioles. She was very active in the lives of her grandchildren.

Surviving are daughters, Dorothy Haines, Betty Martin and husband Jim, all of Walkersville; son, Robert Johnson and wife Barbara of Walkersville; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by daughters, Virginia Johnson, Joan Johnson, Jean Johnson; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jason Bluell; sisters, Edna Winebrenner and Maude Rentzel; and brothers, Clarence and Carroll Clabaugh.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge. Inurnment will be at a later date in Haugh's cemetery, Ladiesburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to memorial services on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.

Mrs. Elizabeth Remsberg

Mrs. R. Elizabeth Remsberg, 101, of Middletown died Friday, August 17, at Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick with her her family at her side. She was the wife of Charles H. Remsberg for 46 years.

Born in Braddock Heights, May 13, 1906, she was the daughter of the late John William Lorenzo and Bessie May Feaga Poole.

She was a 1925 graduate of Middletown High School and a 1927 graduate of Towson State Normal School and taught in local one-room schools. She loved history and traveled to 88 countries on seven continents.

Mrs. Remsberg was lifelong and devoted member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Middletown. She taught Sunday school for 53 years; a member of the Christ de Fille Sunday school class, the woman's guild, Faith group, Hoffman Home auxillary, and the Homewood Auxillary.

She was also a life member of Mid Valley Homemakers, MiddletownValley and Braddock Heights Historical Societies, Francis Scott Key Foundation, Frederick County Landmarks, Community Foundation of Frederick Co., Frederick DAR, former docent of the DAR Museum, Washington, D.C., Catoctin Soil Conservation Cooperator, Zonta Club of Frederick, Salvation Army Auxillary, a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #79, and a former member of the Ornithology Society of Frederick.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Betty and Warren DeColigny of Randallstown, William A. Remsberg of Edgewood, Robert and Susan Remsberg of Northpoint, Maine, Angela and Dudley Smith of College Station, Texas; nine grandchildren, Sharon and Todd Thomas of Middletown, Charlotte and Joe Armentrout of Hampstead, John DeColigny of Westminster, Edwin and Virginia Remsberg of Fallston, John Charles and Caren Remsberg of New Providence, Pa; Thomas Remsberg of Allentown, Pa., Stephanie and Roger Allen of Austin, Texas, Gresham and Barbara Smith of Richardson, Texas; Beth Smith Glasshoff of Katy, Texas; and nine great-grandchildren, Megan Thomas, Erin Thomas, Kelli Thomas, Cynthia Armentrout, Bennett Remsberg, Emma Remsberg, Rebecca Remsberg, Sidney Glasshoff, and Benton Havens.

She was predeceased by her brother Charles Poole but is survived by her sister-in-law Naomi Poole of Frederick.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, at the chapel of Christ Reformed Church in Middletown. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday August 20, from the church. There will also be a viewing one hour prior to the church service on Monday.

Rev. Suzanne Smith Morris will officiate. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. One of Elizabeth's passions was sharing history and geneology of Middletown, her church, and its cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to cemetery memorial fund of Christ Reformed Church, c/o Treasurer, Jay House, 4144 Remsburg Rd., Jefferson, MD 21755.

Ms. Kimberly Evans

Ms. Kimberly Ann "Kim" Evans, 38, of Falling Waters, W.Va., died Saturday, August 18, 2007, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born on Sept. 3, 1968, in Calvert County, she was the daughter of Barbara Ann Bruce Bradley of Falling Waters and Arnold Hutchins of Severn.

Kim was an avid fisherman, enjoyed watching the Redskins and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Stephen Michael Hutchins and wife Erica; her maternal grandfather, Arthur C. Bruce of Calvert County; and her uncles and aunts, Gary Bruce and wife Susan, Arthur C. Bruce and wife Terri of Mount Airy, Steve Bruce and wife Myrna of Lusby, Florence Sayre and husband David of Baltimore, Paul Hutchins and wife Becky of Waldorf, Earl Hutchins and wife Ann and Dorothy Monnett and husband Clarence of Prince Frederick. She is also survived by her special friend, Chris Miller, and many cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy. Steven Bruce will officiate.

Interment Pine Grove cemetery, Mount Airy.

Mr. Edmund Regulinski

Edmund J. Regulinski, of Flushing, N.Y., and most recently Buckingham's Choice, Adamstown, died on Thursday, August 9. Beloved husband of Estelle. Loving father of Robert (Diane) and Dennis (Kara). Cherished grandfather of Cynthia, Brian, Karen, Russell and Lauren.

Edmund was a retired lieutenant with the New York City Fire Department. Mass of Christian burial was held on August 13, at Christ the King R. C. Church in Commack, N.Y. Interment followed at Calverton National Military cemetery on Long Island. Memorial contributions to N.Y. Firefighters Burn Center Foundation, 21 Asch Loop, Bronx, NY 10475, appreciated.
