Mr. Cecil Elwin Priest

Mr. Cecil "Bob" Elwin Priest, 91, of Fairfield, Pa., died Thursday, January 11, 2007, at St. Catherine's Nursing Home. He was the husband of Rita Norris Priest, his wife of more than 28 years.

Born July 26, 1915, in Valley City, N.D., he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Priest Kohn.

Mr. Priest retired as the owner of Quality Tire Service in Emmitsburg. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a member of the American Legion, Post No. 121, Emmitsburg, and of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Beverly McWilliams and husband Walter of Westminster, Lois Schott and husband Hermann of Taneytown, Marion Kobush and husband Steven of South Carolina and Andrea Harner of Florida; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Estella Staves, Evelyn Manard and Inez Crawford.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Anthonys Road, Emmitsburg, on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m., with Father David Shaum as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Anthony's cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 17025, Baltimore, MD 21297.

Arrangements are by Stauffer Funeral Home, Thurmont.

Mrs. JoAnn Garrett

Mrs. JoAnn Garrett, 59, of Adamstown, died Sunday January 21, 2007, in Frederick. She was the wife of Gary L. Garrett, her husband of 39 years.

Born December 20, 1947, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Bernard C. and Anna Marie Carmack Gibson and is survived by her stepmother, Ellen E. Gibson.

Mrs. Garrett was a graduate of Frederick High School class of 1965 and a member of the South End Baptist Church of Frederick. JoAnn will always be remembered by her family and friends for being a loving wife, mother and grandmother and for her continuous pledge to donate to many charitable organizations.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Garrett is survived by her sons, Steven L. Garrett and wife Amy of Inwood, W.Va., and Allen L. Garrett and friend Jeanette Adolphson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; her brother, Ronald C. Gibson and wife Bonnie of Hagerstown; her sister, Cynthia M. Grable and husband William of Adamstown; grandchildren, Austin L. and Ethan J. Garrett; nieces and nephews, Melinda M. Dodson, Blaine C. Gibson and Shannon Binda; great-niece and great-nephew, Anna and Kyle Dodson; one aunt, Martha Burdette; and several cousins.

Visitation with family will be on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Keeney and Basford P.A. Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. at the South End Baptist Church, 506 Carrollton Drive Frederick. The Reverend J. Kenneth Stalls will officiate.

Pallbearers to serve are, Robert Reece, William Grable, Robert Dodson, Blaine Gibson, Mark Slater and Neal Jerrell. Interment will be at the Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908 Eldersburg, MD 21784.

Mr. David Garth Perry Sr.

Mr. David Garth Perry Sr. (Sonny), of Germantown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2007.

Born in Gaithersburg on June 13, 1934, he was the son of the late Harry C. Perry Sr. and Nannia Bentz Perry.

He was the devoted and beloved husband of Anna White Perry (Bunny) for 48 years. He was a loving father to Michele Federline and husband Dwayne of Frederick, Nicole Cohen and husband Yurii of Ithaca, N.Y., and David G. Perry Jr. and wife Christine of Mount Airy. He was a loving and proud grandfather to Kenny Federline, Lauren Federline, Tyler Perry, Ryan Perry and Nicholas Cohen.

David is survived by his siblings, Harriet Gartner of Gaithersburg, Harry Perry Jr. (Bud) and wife Dot of Silver Spring, Virginia Federline and husband John of Frederick, Richard Perry and wife Lu of Gaithersburg, Ruth Bowman and husband Paul of Mount Airy, Lawrence Perry and wife Gladys of Damascus, Sue Wynne of Frederick, Frances Kennedy of Frederick, Roxanne Stewart and husband Jerry of Benson, Ariz., Dorothy Beebe and husband Richard of Frederick, Janet Bognaski and husband Paul of Mount Airy; and sister-in-law, Lillian Perry of Big Timber, Mont.

He was preceded in death by one brother, James Perry.

David graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1953. He was a Sgt. in the United States Marine Corps, serving in Korea. He retired from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department in 1987. For the past 20 years, he was employed by the Montgomery County Public Schools as a school bus driver. He was a founding member of Mother Seton Parish, Germantown, and an active participant in the community.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Mother Seton Parish, 19951 Father Hurley Boulevard, Germantown. Interment with military honors will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to one of the following: Mother Seton Parish (address as shown); Operation Second Chance, Inc., Citigroup Smith Barney, Attn: Cindy McGrew, 18310 Montgomery Village Ave., Suite 740, Gaithersburg, MD 20879.

Arrangements are by Molesworth-Williams P.A., Funeral Home, Damascus.

Mr. Tolbert Houck Jr.

Mr. Tolbert Kemp Houck Jr., 89, formerly of Urbana, and more recently of Frederick, died on Sunday, January 21, 2007, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Helen Humm Houck, whom he married December 30, 1938, in Lewistown. Mrs. Houck died in 1999.

Born April 20, 1917, in Ceresville, Frederick County, he was a son of the late Tolbert Kemp and Nora Haugh Houck.

He worked for Monocacy Farms at Urbana, from March 1940, until retiring in 1984. He continued working on the farm part-time until 1990. He enjoyed playing cards, tending to his large garden and hosting family dinners on Sundays.

Mr. Houck was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ (formerly Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church), Charlesville, from his early teens until his death. He served many terms as an Elder, faithfully contributing to the activities to enhance the growth and welfare of the church.

Surviving are four sons, Dan Houck and wife Helen, Robert Houck and wife Ginny, all of Knoxville, William Houck of Jefferson and Rick Houck and wife Tina of Charlesville; three daughters, Carole Houck, Marta Burchardt and husband John and Norele Zanganah and husband Sudad, all of Frederick.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, Justin Houck and companion Sherry Brice, Larry Houck and wife Sandy, Jarrett Houck and wife Karyn, Ricky Houck and companion Wendy Stoner, Kristi Houck and companion Greg Gordon, and Dastan Zanganah; one step-grandchild, Dawn Greene and fiancee Jonathan Hutta; seven great-grandchildren, Katie, Kyle, Darianne, Azia, Kaylee, Brian and Ethan Houck; and three step-great-grandchildren, Sykler Gibbs, Jordan Smith and Conor Greene-Hutta; his sister, Gladys Welty of Frederick; one nephew, Frank Welty; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Humm of Charlesville.

He is preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Sourren Welty, Robert Woodrow Humm and William Holtz Humm; and a great-grandson, James William Houck, who died in 2000.

Mr. Houck will also be remembered by special friends, John and Mary Key, Ralph and Carol Putman, Joy Houck, Harry, Peter and Ned Wright and Bill and Margaret Sunday.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith United Church of Christ, 9333 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. The Rev. Marilyn E. Washburn, his pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the Faith United Church of Christ, 9333 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren and include Justin, Jarrett, Larry and Ricky Houck, Dastan Zanganah and great-grandson Kyle Houck.

Mr. William Richardson

Mr. William Patrick Richardson, 90, of Walkersville, died Sunday, January 21, at the Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville. He was the husband of Mary Theresa Cam Richardson, who died September 5, 1979.

Born July 6, 1916, in New York City, he was a son of the late Patrick and Anna Hodgens Richardson.

Mr. Richardson graduated from Regis High School, class of 1934, in New York. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific theatre, receiving the bronze star. He had been employed with the Mayfair House Hotel in New York and with Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies in New Brunswick, N.J. He was a faithful member of St. Timothy's Roman Catholic Church, Walkersville.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth T. Richardson and wife Karen A. of Mechanicville, N.Y., and Patrick J. Richardson and wife Billie of New Market; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Manos of Spotswood, N.J.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Richardson; and a brother-in-law, 1st Lt. Nicholas Manos, USAF.

A Catholic Wake Service will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Rd., East Brunswick, N.J.

A Catholic Mass will be held at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Spotswood, N.J.

Interment will be at Holy Cross Burial Park, Cranbury, N.J.

A memorial service will be held locally and will be announced at a later date.

The Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 1201 N. Market St., Frederick, is handling the arrangements.

Ms. Carole McCardell

Ms. Carole Ann McCardell, 65, of 11 N. Conococheague St., Williamsport, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born August 25, 1941, in Williamsport, to the late Frank Leonard Sr. and Dorotha Madge Renner McCardell.

She was preceded in death by her fiancˇ, Frank N. Rosenberry, in 1998.

She was a 1959 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was employed by General Electric as a shipping clerk, until retiring in 2003. She was most recently employed by Leiter's Fine Catering, Williamsport. She was a lifelong member of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Williamsport. She was a member of AARP. She enjoyed traveling and playing bingo. She was a very caring and giving person, who would often put others needs before her own.

Survivors include her sisters, Mary Ellen Mercer and husband Earl of Frederick and Nancy L. Miller and husband Wallace L. of Falling Waters, W.Va.; brother, F. Leonard McCardell Jr. and wife Carol S. of Falling Waters, W.Va.; nephews, Randall L. Hart of Hagerstown, David N. Hart of Falling Waters, W.Va., Christopher B. Miller of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Thomas L. McCardell of Hagerstown; niece, Denise N. Fagan of Holland, Pa.; great-nephews, Brian M. Hart of Hagerstown, Dylan A. Hart of Falling Waters, W.Va., Lucas O. Miller of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Jack A. Fagan of Holland, Pa., and Connor G. McCardell of Hagerstown; and great-nieces, Staci L. Hart of Hagerstown and Danae E. Hart of Falling Waters, W.Va.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., on Tuesday, Jan. 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 1 p.m. Tuesday for the convenience of family and friends. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 24, at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 32 E. Potomac St., Williamsport, at 10 a.m., with Monsignor Alfred E. Smith as celebrant. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 32 E. Potomac St., Williamsport, MD 21795.

Mrs. Delpha Warrenfeltz

Mrs. Delpha "Rae" Warrenfeltz, 82, a Baltimore resident for 50 years, retiring to Walkersville, died Monday, January 22, 2007, at her home. She was the wife of Paul M. Warrenfeltz, her husband of 63 years.

Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on April 20, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Wood Edward and Pearl Taylor Lanier.

Mrs. Warrenfeltz attended Glade Valley Church of the Brethren. She always enjoyed spending time with her children and taking care of others.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by seven children, Paul M. Warrenfeltz Jr. of Nashville, Tenn., Donald E. Warrenfeltz and Joyce Lochridge, both of Baltimore, Ronald Warrenfeltz of Mount Airy, Daniel R. Warrenfeltz of Catonsville, Jeannette M. Smith of Grand Prairie, Texas, and John C. Warrenfeltz of Baltimore; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald K. Lanier of Monroe, La.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, David Gale Warrenfeltz; a brother, Wood E. Lanier Jr.; and a sister, Delma Rachel Stankus.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, with the Rev. Daniel House officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Woodsboro.

Mr. Robert Shaffner

Mr. Robert S. Shaffner, of Adamstown, formerly of Derwood, died on Wednesday, August 15.

He was the beloved husband of Margaret K. Shaffner; loving father of David Shaffner and the late Jane Marie Trede; brother of the late Raymond D. Shaffner; and grandfather of Robert Trede, and Christopher, Elizabeth and Michael Shaffner.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, at the Buchingham's Choice, Adamstown.

Interment will be held at Gate of Heaven cemetery.

Mr. Bruno J. Nicknadarvich Sr.

Mr. Bruno J. Nicknadarvich Sr., 94, of Frederick, died Thursday, August 9, at the Citizens Care & Rehab Center. He was the husband of the late Theresa De Mao Nicknadarvich.

Born May 20, 1913 in Charleroi, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph and Tillie Thomas Nicknadarvich.

Bruno was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge #684, the American Legion Post #11, Knight of Columbus, the V.F.W. and Civilian Conservation Corps. He served his County in the U. S. Army during WWII, loved sports and was an avid bingo player. In earlier years, he was employed as a printing press operator at IBM.

He is survived by his son, Bruno J. Nicknadarvich Jr. and wife Pam of Frederick; grandchildren, Bruno J. Nicknadarvich III, Steven Wise, Ian Manicom and Sarah Manicom; his sister, Stella Lawther of Morgantown, W.Va.; and his brother William Nicknadarvich of Bladensburg.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, August 12 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

There will be a Christian Wake service on Sunday Evening at 7 p.m. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 13 from East Oak Grove cemetery, Morgantown, W.Va.

Mrs. Marie Moxley

Mrs. Marie Smith Moxley, 95, formerly of Woodsboro, died Saturday, August 11, 2007, at Glade Valley Nursing Home, Walkersville, after an extended illness.

Born March 25, 1912, near Libertytown, she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Jenny Elizabeth Waltz Smith. She was the wife of Anthony Nelson Moxley, who died in 1993.

Mrs. Moxley was a member of the Woodsboro Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Woodsboro Food and Friends. She and her husband farmed near Libertytown. She later moved to Woodsboro and had been a resident at Glade Valley for 5 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and bingo while participating in all of the nursing home activities.

Surviving are daughter, Doris L. Stephenson and husband Walter of Frederick; six sons, Anthony E. "Jacky" Moxley and wife Jessie of Taneytown, William E. Moxley and wife Joan, Paul W. "Sonny" Moxley and wife Carol, all near Libertytown, Leon C. Moxley of Thurmont, Gary N. Moxley and wife Shirley of New Market and Larry R. "Buddy" Moxley and wife Barbara of North English, Iowa; a niece, Betty Bomboy of Lewisburg, Pa.; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.-- She was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Smith.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Liberytown, with the Rev. Dorothy Lundgren, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Chapel cemetery, near Libertytown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel cemetery, c/o Paul Droneburg, 11022 Daysville Road, Frederick, MD 21701.
