Linnell Service

BENTON — Cecilia B. Linnell's family celebrated her life Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Ames Cemetery, Benton.

Her surviving children that attended were Carroll and Juanita Linnell, and William and Eliza Linnell. Grandchildren included Veronica and Mark Gordon, Eric and LeAnne Linnell, Karen and Barry King, Patrick and Betty Jean Linnell, and Heidi Meunier.

Other members included Bridgett, Ashley, Joshua, Jake, little Will, her great-grandchildren, and David and Mary Champine, her nephew and niece.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll Linnell, who died in 1972, and her son, Bernard Linnell, who died in 1999.

The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the nurses who took care of her. They were a source of comfort and care during her illness.

She will be especially missed by Veronica, her granddaughter. "Vickie" spent a great deal of time helping and caring for her grandmother while she was ill. Cecilia's great-granddaughters, Bridgett and Ashley, contributed to her comfort and care.

Cecilia was blessed with 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Florence I. Bacon

MADISON — Florence Isabel Bacon, 70, of Madison, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Maplecrest Rehabilitation & Living Center in Madison.

She was born July 21, 1930, in Farmington, daughter of Forrest and Isabel (Osborne) York. She graduated from Skowhegan High School and trained to be a registered nurse at the former Sisters' Hospital in Waterville. She attended Northwestern University in Chicago.

She was employed as a registered nurse at various hospitals outside Maine and for eight years at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, retiring in 1989.

She was a Madison resident for the past five years and previously was a Skowhegan resident for 17 years. She was a member of the Skowhegan Federated Church.

Florence was the wife of Dr. Ralph Olson from 1956 to 1966. She married Thomas Bacon in 1968.

Her husband, Thomas Bacon, died previously.

Survivors include a son, Jonathan Olson, of Stamford, Conn.; a daughter, Leslie Olson, of Tewksbury, Mass.; two brothers, Forrest E. York, of Cornville, and David F. York, of Madison; two sisters, Sylvia Sala, of Madison, and Mary Wyman, of Canaan; many nieces and nephews.

There will be no funeral. Interment will be made at Mount Rest Cemetery, Athens.

Arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home of Madison.

James G. Brann

JEFFERSON — James Glidden Brann, 84, of 418 Augusta Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Country Manor Nursing Home, Coopers Mills Village, Whitefield.

He was born June 24, 1916, in Jefferson, son of Lawrence Alden and Gertrude (Noyes) Brann, and attended Murphy School in Jefferson.

As a young man, he was employed as an electrician at Bath Iron Works during World War II and at Kittery Naval Shipyard. He had sold real estate in his younger years.

Mr. Brann had worked for many years as a carpenter, builder and home contractor. He was an avid citizens band (CB) radio operator, whose handle was "Dragon." He loved to play the Maine State Lottery, despite his period of ill health.

He was the companion of Saima F. Harvella for nearly 20 years. He and Saima made their home in Jefferson for the past few years and had previously lived in Windsor.

In addition to his loving companion, Saima F. Harvella, of Jefferson, survivors include two sons, Roland O. Brann, and companion, Sue Sproul, of Jefferson, and Ronald J. Brann, and his wife, Carol, of Waldoboro; a daughter, Juanita J. McLean, of Waldoboro; a sister, Ethel Noyes, of Jefferson; two brothers, Oliver Brann, and his wife, Terrie, of Whitefield, and Charles Brann, of Augusta; five grandchildren, Shawn Brann, Natasha Brann, James Brann Jr., Robert Lermond and Stephen McLean; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

By request, visiting hours are private. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Shepard Cemetery, Route 32, Jefferson, with pastor Albert York, of Weeks Mills Advent Christian Church, officiating. Committal and burial will follow.

Arrangements are by Gray & Pratt Funeral Directors of Windsor.

Edward F. Patterson Jr.

PITTSFIELD — Edward F. Patterson Jr., 44, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at his 61 Hartland Ave. home in Pittsfield.

He was born July 19, 1956, in Waterville, son of Edward F. and Alice (Shaw) Patterson.

Edward graduated from Maine Central Institute and attended Los Angeles City College in California.

He worked in the food and beverage service for many years, both in California and Maine.

Survivors include his parents of Pittsfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Carol Patterson, of Ames, Iowa, and Gregg and Elaine Patterson, of Los Angeles, Calif.; a nephew, Michael Patterson, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a niece, Ms. Dana Patterson, of Houston, Texas; a very special aunt, Rosalie Shaw, of Pittsfield; special cousins, Paulette Stoddard, and her husband, Richard, of Pittsfield; special cousin, Jane Reny and her husband, Jim, of Burnham; close friend and ex-wife, Theresa Conley, of Portland; special friends, Holly Miles, Dennis Frederick, Allen Alton, and Ronnie Rollins, all of Pittsfield, and Mark Young, of Sanford, and Donna Kezar, of Plymouth. He also leaves many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.

At his request, please omit flowers. Donations may be made in his memory to the Sebasticook Valley Hospital, c/o Sue Staughton, 99 Grove Hill, Pittsfield ME 04967.

Arrangements are under the direction of D.H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.

Shirley Stevens Reynolds

WINSLOW — Shirley Esther (Stevens) Reynolds, 83, of Winslow, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at her home.

She was born Nov. 30, 1917, daughter of Bert and Elivira Stevens in Belfast, and attended Winslow schools.

She married Sanford E. Reynolds on Nov. 26, 1933. She lived on the family farm on the Reynolds Road in Winslow and raised 15 children, eight girls and seven boys.

Along with taking care of the family, and the family farm, she liked gardening and sewing. She still managed to find the time to sell Avon products, be a 4-H club leader, and sewed hundreds of dance costumes over the years. On most summer days, you could usually find her picking whatever berries were in season.

She owned the Checkered Apron in Vassalboro for a number of years and worked with her daughter, Audrey, many of the most recent summers at Lake Breeze Restaurant in China, making biscuits, pies, and doughnuts.

She was predeceased by her husband, Sanford, in 1989.

Survivors include three sisters, Mary Reynolds, Pearl Cowing and Avis Moody, of Augusta; a brother, Joseph Stevens, of Greenville, S.C.; daughters and sons, Esther Cayouette, of Winslow, Marilyn Gordon, of Rockland, Audrey Gammon, of China, Sharon Dubois, of Oakland, Sanford E. Reynolds Jr., of Deep River, Conn., Stephen Reynolds, of Winslow, Cynthia Schroeder, of Jacksonville, Fla., Bruce Reynolds, of Winslow, Pauline Leach, of Winslow, Geoffrey Reynolds, of Fairfield Center, Nelson Reynolds, of Winslow, Beth Reynolds-Beutel, of Orono, Timothy Reynolds, of Winslow, Peter Reynolds, of Winslow, Effie Reynolds, of Winslow; special friends, Olive Daley, of Prince Edward Island, Canada, and Jeanette Thibodeau, of Hartwell, Ga.; 30 grandchildren and 32 great-granchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Redington Funeral Home in Waterville. Further arrangements and services will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in the memory of Mrs. Shirley E. (Stevens) Reynolds may be sent to the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers, 34 Gilman St., Waterville ME 04901.

Laurie Ann Russell

BINGHAM — In loving memory of Laurie Ann Russell, 40, who died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at her Bingham home.

She was born Oct. 27, 1960, in Peoria, Ill., daughter of Floyd and Mary Ann (McDonald) Murphy.

She was a Bingham resident for seven years, previously living in Waterville.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Ann Murphy, of Illinois; a brother, Jeffery Murphy, of Illinois; her partner of 14 years, Debbie Young, of Bingham; children, Pamela Yeager, of Wisconsin, Lisa Doody, of New Gloucester, Dina Gooding, of Westbrook, Martin and Amanda Peary, of Bingham; grandchildren, Kyle Allen Yeager and Kylie Jordan Doody; a niece and two nephews. She was much loved and will be sadly missed.

There will be no funeral. Arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home of Bingham.

Doneka M. Cole

SKOWHEGAN — Doneka M. Cole, 2 weeks old, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

She was born Nov. 22, 2000, in Bangor, daughter of Marjorie Levensailor and Earl G. Cole Jr.

Survivors include her mom and dad of Skowhegan; a sister, Crystal Collins, of Winterport; two brothers, Steven Little, of Pawcatuck, Conn., and Shawn Michael Cole, of Stafford Springs, Conn.; maternal grandparents, John and Betty Levensailor, of Skowhegan; two uncles, Clifford Cole, of Westerly, R.I., Stephen Levensailor, of Fairfield Center; and two aunts, Joan Levensailor, of Skowhegan, and Catherine Corr, of Springvale.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Helen Laporte and Earl Cole.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at the Old Village Cemetery in Clinton, with the Rev. Cecil Jones officiating.

Arrangements are by Smart & Edwards Funeral Home of Skowhegan.

Gloria J. Grant

WINDSOR — Gloria J. Grant, 55, of Windsor Neck Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, from injuries received in an automobile accident on Route 17 in Windsor.

She was born April 13, 1945, in Richmond, daughter of Bertram James and Virgie Mae (Hysom) Sutter.

Gloria attended Gardiner schools and Cony High School in Augusta, receiving her general educational development (GED) diploma.

She was a past president and former member of the Gardiner Lioness Club.

Gloria was employed as a dietary aide at the Togus Veterans Affairs Medical Center for the past 13 years. She was employed previously for 25 years at Health-Tex in Gardiner.

Gloria enjoyed bingo, camping, traveling, yard sales, and being with family and friends.

She married James R. Grant on May 18, 1997, in Windsor.

Surviving are her husband, James R. Grant, of Windsor; a son, Richard J. Nimon, and his wife, Melissa, of China; two daughters, Sherry Petrie, and her husband, Mark, of Oakland, and Shirley Wiles, and her husband, Mike, of Glenburn; two stepdaughters, Melissa Pheiffer, of Saco, and Mari-Elle Grant, of Sabattus; a sister, Barbara A. Tounge, of South China; a brother, Richard A. Sutter Sr., of South China; two sisters-in-law, Sherry Sutter, of Windsor, and Maple Christie, of Augusta; her former mother-in-law and dear friend, Gerry Nimon, of Oakland; eight grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her parents died previously, as did a brother, Bertram J. Sutter, of Windsor, and a brother-in-law, Gregory C. Tounge, of South China.

Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Gray & Pratt Funeral Home, Windsor Neck Road, Windsor, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, with the Rev. James Sutter, Gloria's cousin, of West Gardiner, officiating.

Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Windsor.

If desired, the family suggests memorial gifts to the American Diabetes Association, Maine Affiliate, c/o Theresa L. Haskell, PO Box 210, Windsor ME 04363-0210. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
