Age 59, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2004 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born March 3, 1945 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of William D. and Clara (McCann) Martin Sr. Mrs. Chrysler was a crossing guard for the Ypsilanti Public Schools for 28 years. Survivors include one son, Matthew Crysler of Ann Arbor; one sister, Eilene (Robert) Debelak of Phoenix, AZ; three brothers, William (Kathryn) of Manchester, Ronald (Audrey) of Tecumseh and Robert (Brenda) Martin of Ypsilanti; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 17 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-9 P.M. Tuesday.

Age 47, died January 20, 2005. Funeral 11-00 A.M. Monday, January 24 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Visitation 10-11 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial in United Memorial Gardens.

Dexter, Helen
Rockwood, MI
(formerly of Whittaker, MI)

Age 91, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at Oakwood South Shores Medical Center. She was born September 6, 1913 in Milan, the daughter of John and Estella (Denton) Vedder. On September 12, 1931, she married Josiah Dexter in Whittaker and he preceded her in death May 26, 1987. Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Flat Rock. She worked at the UM Hospital in Radiology and owned and operated the grocery store in Whittaker. Survivors include- one daughter, Earilyn Dexter of Rockwood; one son John Ed (Jeanette) Dexter of Kalkaska; son-in-law, Raymond Sampier of Pinckney; eleven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters; one granddaughter; three brothers; and two sisters. The funeral service will be 2-00 P.M. Saturday, February 12 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Huseltine of the First United Methodist Church of Flat Rock officiating. Burial will follow in Marble Park cemetery in Milan. Contributions may be made to either the First United Methodist Church of Flat Rock or Arbor Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 2- 4 & 6-9 P.M. Friday.

Dillion, Brown
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 88, departed this life to be with his savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, Friday, February 18, 2005. He was born January 26, 1917 in Ivel, KY, the son of Joe and Cord (Rice) Dillion. Mr. Dillion left Kentucky in 1953 to work for Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti. He was employed there for 28 years until he retired January 19, 1983. Mr. Dillion leaves behind- ten children, Joe (Linda), Joyce Hunter, Don, John (Lea), Deloris (Arthur) Smith, Ronnie (Andrea “Andy”), Kelly (Sue), Betty Almo, Frankie and Tony; 24 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; a very special friend, Suzanne Peplinski and her son, Brian; three sisters; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother. The funeral service will be 10-00 A.M. today at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Walker Harris of Belleville Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Ann Arbor. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Dunn, John W.
Belleville, MI

Age 78, passed away Friday, February 4, 2005. He was born January 3, 1927 in Oakland City, IN, the son of Robert and Dessie (O’Neal) Dunn. He served honorably in the U.S. Army. On February 15, 1947, he married Marie Stoops and she survives. Mr. Dunn was employed by Ford Motor Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1979. He was a born-again Christian and a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Detroit. In addition to his loving wife of 58 years, survivors include- three daughters, Brenda Vargo, Connie (Wallace) Lowe and Ronita (Bob) Johnson; one son, Richard (Linda) Dunn; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Thelma) Dunn; three sisters, Dorothy Caricoe, Betty (Joe) Pyle and Sarah Dunn; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonita Weaver, and four sisters. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Wednesday, February 9 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor. The family will greet friends at the funeral home 6-9 P.M. Monday and 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. Tuesday.

Ellickson, John F.
Belleville, MI

Age 67, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at his residence. He was born October 29, 1937 in Moorhead, MN, the son of Norman and Mabel (Hanson) Ellickson. He was a graduate of the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was instrumental in working with the war orphan program while in Korea. He worked as an airframe and power plant mechanic at United Airlines for 32 years, retiring in 2000. John was a member of the Belleville Moose, the American Legion, the Belleville Eagles and a longtime and very active member of the Yankee Air Museum. Survivors include- two brothers, Fremont Ellickson of Broken Arrow, OK and Norman (Karen) Ellickson of Milan; and one niece, Janet Ellickson of OK. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Ionne Ellickson. The funeral service will be 1-00 P.M. Saturday, December 11 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel where visitation will be from 11-00 A.M. until time of service. Contributions may be made to the Yankee Air Museum Recovery Fund. John was a very outgoing, friendly person who was liked by all who were privileged to know him and will be dearly missed. He never knew a stranger.

Emery, Pamela L.
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 48, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at home following a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born August 18, 1956 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of Theodore and Dorothy (Moody) Budary. She was a member of Northridge Church in Plymouth. Survivors include- her husband, Robert Emery; three children, Scott (Andrea) Clark of Taylor, Michael (Lisa) Clark of Ypsilanti and Michelle Harper of Saline; two stepsons, Bobby Emery at home and Justin Emery of Garden City; four granddaughters, Lauren, Melissa, Audrey and Erin; one brother, Ted (Jennifer) Budary of FL; two sisters, Elaine (Dan) Fleure of FL and Kimberly Budary of Garden City; and several other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents. The funeral service will be 3-30 P.M. Friday, January 21 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Paton officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. Contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-9 P.M. Thursday.

Epling, Avery
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior. Avery was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He passed away Monday, January 17, 2005 while enjoying his winter retirement in Daytona Beach, FL. He was born April 24, 1927 in Pike Co., KY, the son of Harrison and Parzidy (Taylor) Epling. On March 29, 1951, he married Ruth Charles in Pikeville, KY and she survives. Avery was employed by Dura Corporation (Motor State) for 34 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Faithway Baptist Church, Ypsilanti. In addition to his loving wife, Ruth, of 53 years, survivors include- one sister, Lona “Sissie;” one daughter, Diana (Leon); two sons, Jeff (Shelby) and Greg (Janice); five grandchildren, Brad (Keri), Laura (Brett), Jennifer (Joey), Matthew (Ashley) and Jordy; three great grandchildren, Cole, Chandler and Kaylie; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters. A celebration of his life will be 1-30 P.M. Saturday, January 22 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. William Phillips officiating. The eulogy will be given by Avery’s grandson, Joey of Bowie, TX. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. The family wishes donations be made to either the Ronald McDonald House or Childrens’ Hospital of Michigan. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where friends and family may visit 1-4 & 6-9 P.M. Friday.

Ferguson, Faith Ann
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 5, passed away Monday, April 4, 2005. She was born January 18, 2000 in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Paul G. and Heather D. (Cameron) Ferguson and they survive. Also surviving are- her brother, Cameron; grandmothers, Diane “Nana” Riddle and Sharon “Nana Too” Ferguson; great grandparents, Janet and Frank Seibert and Barbara Bokanoski; aunts and uncles, Melanie and Kenny Cameron and Rebecca Ferguson; cousins, Emilee “My MeMe”, Cory and Chase; several great aunts and uncles; and her kitty cat, Tommy. She was preceded in death by her sister, Hannah. The funeral service will be 11-00 A.M. Thursday, April 7 at South Side Baptist Tabernacle, 6710 Textile Road, Ypsilanti with Rev. Jimmy Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Union-Udell cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 P.M. Wednesday at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel and at the church from 10-00 A.M. until time of service Thursday.

Fisher, Irene Anna
St. Clair Shores, MI
(formerly of Ypsilanti)

Age 84, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005 at Hillside Terrace in Ann Arbor. She was born May 21, 1920 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Casper and Anna (Kimmel) Popiolek. She had been a homemaker and enjoyed china painting. She attended Bethel Lutheran Church in St. Clair Shores. Survivors include- two children, Christine Kozak of Ypsilanti and Raymond Kozak of China, MI; five grandchildren, Donovan (Jennifer) Dreyer, Mona (Brandon) Black, Raymond and Jeremiah Kozak and Sandy Wurth; six great grandchildren, Mitchell and Breanne Black, Lillian and Lucille Dreyer, Anthony Kozak and Jordyn Wurth; five nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Popiolek. The funeral mass will be 11-00 A.M. Thursday, March 31 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 1301 S. Harris Road, Ypsilanti with Rev. Fr. David Franco O.S.F.S. as celebrant. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. Wednesday at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel where a scripture service will be prayed at 7-00 P.M.

French, Joseph W.
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 61, passed away Monday, February 7, 2005 at Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born June 30, 1943 in Dawsons Spring, KY, the son of Henry and Frances McCormick. Joe was a former Washtenaw County police officer, a U.S. Marine and had a long career at Parker-Hannfin in Monroe. Survivors include two sons, Daniel (Heather) of MO and Joseph of Howell and one granddaughter, Sydney. The funeral service will be 2-00 P.M. Friday, February 11 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-9 P.M. Thursday.

Gentile, D. Jean
Ypsilanti, MI
(formerly of Sturgis, MI)

passed away Thursday, February 3, 2005 at Heartland Health Care Center with her family by her side. She was born in Traverse City, MI, the daughter of Darwin and Georgetta (Loucks) Kreps. She was a graduate of Wyandotte Roosevelt High School, was a member of Sturgis Presbyterian Church and the order of the Eastern Star. On June 22, 1949, she married Ernest Anthony Gentile and he survives. Mrs. Gentile was a teacher’s aide with the Sturgis Public Schools, working with high school special needs students. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, affectionately known as “Meme.” In addition to her loving husband of 55 years, survivors include- two sons, Anthony Craig (Wendy) Gentile of The Woodlands, TX and Darwin Charles (Robin) Gentile of Greensboro, NC; one daughter, Michelle Jean (Michael) Freund of Ypsilanti; six grandchildren, Whitney, David, Alicia and Nicole Gentile and Amanda and Samuel Freund; two sisters, Louise Martin and Barb (Jack) Baird; one brother, Charles (Pat) Kreps; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 4-00 P.M. Monday, February 7 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow. Contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3840 Packard Road, Suite 260, Ann Arbor, MI 48108. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home where the family will greet friends 2-6 P.M. Sunday.

Goodsman, Arnita L.
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 93, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2005 at the Gilbert Residence. She was born June 4, 1911 in Pontiac, MI, the daughter of William Scott and Ethel A. (McIntyre) Leslie. On October 4, 1941, she married Clarence J. Goodsman in Kimball, Nebraska and he preceded her in death October 3, 1991. Mrs. Goodsman was a lifelong resident of Ypsilanti. Besides being a wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Goodsman worked as a telephone operator for the former Hoover Ball & Bearing of Ann Arbor and later for Montgomery Wards at Arborland in the early 1960s. Survivors include- one son, James R. (Marilyn) Goodsman of Ypsilanti; a daughter, Sandra L. (Robert) Reeves of Estero, FL; four grandchildren; one great grandson; brother-in-law, John H. (Alice) Goodsman of Ypsilanti; and one nephew, Richard (Judy) Wise of Hillman, MI. Her sister, Mrs. Peggy Wise of AZ preceded her in death in 2000. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Contributions may be made to the Gilbert Residence, 203 S. Huron Street, Ypsilanti, MI 48197-5452. Arrangements handled through STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel.
