Karen A. Sankovich

Karen Ann Sankovich, 50, of Clinton Township, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at her home. She was born April 6, 1949, in Detroit.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; daughters, Stacey and Jayna; brother, Richard Robertson; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr, Warren, with the Rev. William H. Otten officiating. Burial will be at Resurrection cemetery in Clinton Township.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today.

Fred R. Schley

Fred R. Schley, 88, died Thursday, March 16, 2000. He was born Feb. 9, 1912, in Detroit.

Mr. Schley, a sales representative for most of his life, retired in 1977 from Hobart Manufacturing Co. where he received many awards for sales achievements. His career included an assignment in England and Europe, where he directed European sales operations. He was a graduate of Detroit Southeastern High School and attended Michigan State University.

Mr. Schley's retirement years were spent pursuing his interest in boating and fishing. He was a charter member of the Lake St. Clair Advisory Committee and a member of the Mount Clemens Power Squadron. He also worked part-time for the Ludington News until 1977.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Romelda; son, Dr. F. Craig (Peggy) Schley of Harrison Township; grandsons, Steven Jantz, Dr. David Jantz, Michael Schley and Tim Schley; and great-grandchildren, Kaylee Jantz and Alex Jantz.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Will & Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mount Clemens with Rev. Jerry Volz officiating. Private entombment will take place at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday, noon-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial contributions can be sent to the Mount Clemens Beautification Committee, the American Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.

Joan M. Swart

Joan M. Swart, 58, of Warren, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at her brother's home in Roseville. She was born Aug. 17, 1941, in Detroit.

Mrs. Swart was retired from General Motors. She enjoyed collecting pottery and antique toys.

She is survived by siblings, Donald (Diane) Driscoll of Roseville and Robert Driscoll of Warren; several nieces and nephews; and relatives, Jack (Gerri) Swart, Michael (Pat) Swart and Maureen Brown.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dick; parents, Susan and Donald Driscoll; and sister, Dorothy.

Services were held privately. Memorials may be given to the Karmanos Cancer Society.

Carol L. Templeton

Carol L. Templeton, 43, of Eastpointe, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, in St. Clair Shores. She was born Dec. 28, 1956, in Grosse Pointe.

Mrs. Templeton was a medical assistant for Grosse Pointe Pediatrics.

She is survived by her husband, Vance; children, Matt, Jason, Jennifer and Andrew; granddaughter, Alexis Christine; and father, Edmond Ahlgrim.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores. Inurnment will be at White Chapel cemetery in Troy.

Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Saturday.

Philip J. Viviano

Philip James Viviano, 65, of Shelby Township since 1969, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in William Beaumont Hospital, Troy. He was born Aug. 2, 1934, in Detroit.

Mr. Viviano owned and operated Sam Viviano & Sons Produce for 30 years with his father at the Fort Street terminal (Detroit produce terminal).

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a member of Knights of Columbus in St. Clair Shores 3725 and St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Colette; children, Mary of Ferndale, Christina of Shelby Township and Salvatore of Shelby Township; and brothers, Peter of St. Clair Shores and Anthony of Shelby Township. He was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Mary.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Vianney Catholic Church, 54045 Schoenherr, Utica, with the Rev. Jerome Machlik officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery, Clinton Township.

Visitation is 1-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary service at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall, Utica.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Mercy of Macomb Hospital Foundation.

Barbara Younger

Barbara Younger, a 27-year Fraser resident and former city councilwoman, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in St. John Hospital, Detroit. She was born in Detroit.

Mrs. Younger served on the Fraser City Council from 1991 to 1999, where she was instrumental in placing ambulance service on the ballot for residents to vote on and supported the need for a new city hall and public safety building, which are now under construction.

She also served on the Fraser Board of Education where she was a trustee and secretary. She formerly worked as a school teacher in Birmingham.

Relatives said Mrs. Younger "led a productive life helping those around her and within her community. She stood for the rights of the citizens in many capacities. Barbara served the citizens of Fraser with honesty and integrity."

She is survived by her children, Melissa and Jay Younger. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Younger; and her parents, Bernard and Florence Silverman.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser.

Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

Jane Ziolkowski

Jane "Jennie" Ziolkowski, 79, of Eastpointe, died Friday, March 10, 2000, in her home. She was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Hamtramck.

Mrs. Ziolkowski is survived by her son, David (Shirley); grandchildren, David and Brian; siblings, Leo (Odessa) and Stella; and daughter-in-law, Martha. She was predeceased by her husband, William; daughter, JoAnne; and siblings, Stanley, Helen and Joseph.

A memorial service will be held privately by the family. For more information, please call (810) 264-4215.

Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township. Arrangements were handled by Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield, Clinton Township.

Elwood C. Cook

Elwood Charles Cook, 78, of Sterling Heights, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Bi-County Community Hospital, Warren. He was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Highland Park.

Mr. Cook was a self-employed real estate manager in residential and commercial properties. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a former member of the Highland Park Police Reserves and of the Dawn Patrol. He also was a private pilot who enjoyed flying.

He is survived by his cousins, Merrill Gable of Troy, Prudence Pugaric of Royal Oak and Charles (Ann) Gable of Roseville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Price Funeral Home, 3725 S. Rochester Road, Troy. Burial will be in Grand Lawn cemetery, Detroit.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind.

Charles W. Cottrell

Charles W. Cottrell, 81, a lifetime resident of Mount Clemens, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Mount Clemens General Hospital. He was born July 11, 1918.

Mr. Cottrell retired from his job as a park ranger for the Huron-Clinton Metroparks. He was also self-employed as a home builder.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Laura Cottrell; son, Dennis Cottrell of Harrison Township; daughters, Janice Wright of Riley Township, Barbara Ash of Macomb Township and Carol (Richard) Engelbert of Columbus Township; brother, Reggie Cottrell of Wisconsin; and sister, Fern Clark of California.

Mr. Cottrell made arrangements for his body to be donated to the University of Michigan for research, so there will be no funeral services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton Township.

Paul Delisi

Paul Delisi, 83, of Casco Township, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at St. Joseph's Mercy of Macomb West hospital, Clinton Township. He was born Jan. 12, 1917, in Detroit.

Mr. Delisi was a self-employed carpenter.

He is survived by his daughter, Marianna (Douglas) Browne; sons, Paul Frank Delisi and Robert (Sandra) Delisi; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol Delise. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 14085 14 Mile Road, Sterling Heights, with the Rev. Joseph Gembala officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Detroit.

Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Friday with a Scripture service at 7 p.m. at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr, Warren. Additional visitation is 9:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Della Duncan-Wolfe

Della Duncan-Wolfe, 90, of Lake City, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Lakeview Lutheran Manor, Cadillac. She was born Jan. 10, 1910, in Baxter Springs, Kan.

Mrs. Duncan-Wolfe retired in 1972 after 22 years as a fifth- and sixth-grade teacher at Sherwood School in Center Line.

She is survived by her son, Glen (Pat) Duncan; daughter, Carol (Dick) Jones; daughter-in-law, Carol Duncan; sisters, Esther Hood, Loeta (Frank) Stocking and Lorna (William) Furgerson; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husbands, James Duncan and Glenn Wolfe; and son, Gilbert Duncan.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, Warren, with the Rev. David Gladstone, Warren Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ortonville cemetery, Ortonville.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and noon-8 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
