Edna Joan Townsend, 74, of Lapeer- Hadley, died Friday (Nov. 29, 2002).
She was born March 27, 1928, in Hadley to Mark and Ethel (Hodson) Earhart. She married George Townsend on June 6, 1947.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She graduated from Hadley High School.
She is survived by her husband, George Townsend; children, Patricia (Tom) Robinson of Chesterfield Township, Mary Jane (Bill) Malloy and Michael (Diane) Townsend of Columbiaville; and siblings, Mark (Vera) Earhart of Hadley and Jane Ribble of Metamora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Ethel Earhart.
Burial will be in Metamora cemetery, Metamora.
Arrangements by Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.

Harriet Detkowski
Died: Thursday, November 28, 2002
Age: 92

Clifford

Harriet Detkowski, 92, of Clifford (formerly of Cheboygan), died Thursday (Nov. 28, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
She was born Oct. 15, 1910, in East St. Louis, Mo., to Julius and Sophia Gembarski. She married George Detkowski Sr. on Jan. 12, 1931, in Port Austin.
She was a homemaker and member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette.
She is survived by her sons, George (Carmen) of Clifford, Richard (Sharon) of Metamora and Jerry of Mayville; daughters, Joanne Howard of Clarkston and Patricia Duffiney of Hadley; sister, Regina (Don) Pethers of Mason; 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 14 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1991; son, Robert; four brothers and five sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 7) at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marlette.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marlette. The Rev. Richard Bokinskie will officiate.
Cremation will take place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.
Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

Maximiliano Rodriguez Sr.
Died: Thursday, November 28, 2002
Age: 89

Brown City

Maximiliano Rodriguez Sr., 89, of Brown City, died Thursday (Nov. 28, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
He was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Mexico to Jose and Telesfora Arguello Rodriguez.
He is survived his daughters, Lucy (Ron) Racine of Imlay City, Lupe of Imlay City and Anita of Imlay City; sons, Joseph (Antonia) of Imlay City, Max Jr. (Nancy) of Brown City, David of Imlay City and Robert of Lapeer; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; thee brothers and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, two grandsons and two brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
Funeral services were Monday (Dec. 2) at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac. The Rev. Gerry Frawley, pastor of St. Nicholas Catholic Church of Capac, officiated.

Betty L. Craig
Died: Wednesday, November 27, 2002
Age: 65

Largo, Fla.

Betty L. Craig, 65, of Largo, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at her home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1936, in Lapeer to Joseph and Florence Craig.
She was a licensed practical nurse and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She moved to Florida in 1982.
She is survived by her sister, Ellenmae (Casey) Craig-Wietrzny of Milwaukee, Wis.; step-mother, Thelma Craig of Raytown, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

C. Marshall Smith
Died: Wednesday, November 27, 2002
Age: 65

Kansas

C. Marshall Smith, 65, of Overland Park, Kan., died Wednesday (Nov. 27, 2002) in an accident at his home.
He was born April 14, 1937, in Detroit, to Mary (McMeans) and Carl Smith.
He grew up in Lapeer and was a member of the Lapeer High School Class of 1955. He graduated from the University of Michigan with bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering and earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Detroit. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a licensed professional engineer and a member of the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society. While residing in Ann Arbor, he was a manager at Arthur Anderson Consulting and Sycot Corp., and he was director of quality assurance and regulatory affairs of Sarns-3M. He moved to Kansas in 1988 where he was the regulatory manager an Nellcor Puritan Bennett and established an independent consulting practice for the regulation of medical devices in 1998. He was active in the Germania Club of Kansas City and Stein Collectors International and enjoyed woodworking and folk music.
He is survived by his daughters, Ellen (Jim) Grosh of Ann Arbor and Dawn (Ken) Swarthout of Farmington Hills; grandchildren, Katherine and Laura Grosh, Scott and Matthew Swarthout; and brother, Wayne (Barbara) Smith of San Marino, Calif.
Memorial contributions may be made to Charlevoix County Community Foundation for the Beaver Island Health Center or the Little Traverse Conservancy for Beaver Island.
A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday (Dec. 7) at First Presbyterian Church, 1669 W. Maple Road, Birmingham. Interment of cremains will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday in Mount Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Karen Jeanette McCarthy
Died: Wednesday, November 27, 2002
Age: 59

Ludington

Karen Jeanette (Johnson) McCarthy, 59, of Ludington (formerly of Lapeer), died Wednesday, (Nov. 27, 2002) after a long, hard battle with cancer.
She was born April 13, 1943, in Lapeer to Max L. and Mildred E. (Lyman) Johnson. She married Dennis G. McCarthy on April 11, 1970.
She was born and raised in Lapeer, then moved to Ludington in 1978. She had been a resident at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility since Nov. 6. She will be remembered by all for the love and devotion she had for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed a special friendship with her cousin Cindy (Lyman) McPherson of Cadillac. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new places.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; daughters, Julie M. (Bob) Koviak of Scottville, Michelle S. (Richard) Burch of St. Johns, Denise G. (Roland) Cerka of Ludington and Amy L. (David) Newman of Ludington; nine grandchildren; mother, Mildred E. Johnson of Lapeer; sister, Kathryn L. (Jack) Sweeney; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Max L. Johnson; and sister, Kay L. (Johnson) O'Brien.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Oceana- Muskegon County or Our Savior Lutheran Church of Scottville.
Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 7) at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Scottville.
Funeral services life was 1:30 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 7) at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Scottville. The Rev. Schroeder will officiate. A luncheon will follow.
Cremation has taken place.

Terry Lee Lister
Died: Wednesday, November 27, 2002
Age: 51

Columbiaville

Terry Lee Lister, 51, of Columbiaville (formerly of Davison and Nevada), died Nov. 27, 2002.
She was born Nov. 14, 1951, in Tooele, Utah, to Bill and Ellen (Hine) Reed.
She was a homemaker. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her soulmate, Dan Wildey of Columbiaville; son, Clint Reagle of Idaho; step daughter, Kodi Lister of Boston, Mass.; grandchilren, Stephanie, Brianna and Natasha; mother, Ellen Crumley of Nevada; step siblings, Sheila (Rockie) Crumley, Veta (Adam) Estrada, Victor (Alana) Crumley, Grace (Jim) Fostel and Frank Crumley; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Reagle; father, Bill Reed; sister, Rita Otterness; and step father, Harry Crumley.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
The family has chosen cremation.

Maraget I. Sitts
Died: Wednesday, November 27, 2002
Age: 97

Lapeer

Margaret T. Sitts, 97, of Lapeer, died Wednesday (Nov. 27, 2002).
She was born May 29, 1905, in Flint to Roy and Alta (Russell) Hutton. She married Donald Sitts on July 18, 1937, at the Liberty Street Gospel Church Parsonage in Lapeer.
She graduated from Lapeer High School and attended Moody Bible Institute. She was the church secretary and worked at the WMPC radio station as secretary and many other jobs. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, where she was very active. She loved to read, enjoyed the out of doors, birds and flowers.
She is survived by her nephew, Jack (Margie) Hutton of Lapeer; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Sitts in 1979; brothers, John Hutton, Raymond Hutton and Leon Hutton; sister, Ernestine Moore; and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible Church, Lapeer.
Funeral services were Saturday (Nov. 30) at Calvary Bible Church, Lapeer. The Rev. Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was in Oregon Township cemetery.
