Daniel A. Stanfield, 27, of Davison, died June 15, 2002 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 3, 1975, to Art and Linda Crawford and Faith Stanfield. He married Mindy Sue O'Dell on Aug. 29, 1997.
He was a member of the Beulah Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his wife, Mindy; son, Joseph Marc; daughter, Ashley Anne Stanfield; parents, Art and Linda Crawford and Faith Stanfield; parents-in-law, Cindy and Mark Hegle; grandparents, Pat and Mona O'Dell.
He was preceded in death by his Grandpa Decker and Grandma Crawford.
Funeral services were June 18, 2002 at Allen Funeral Home, Davison. The Rev. Ben Porter officiated. Burial was in Davison cemetery.

Nettie L. Yacks
Died: Saturday, June 15, 2002
Age: 82

Brown City

Nettie L. Yacks, 82, of Brown City (formerly of Lum), died Saturday (June 15, 2002).
She was born May 27, 1920, in Columbiaville, to Nelson and Lillian (Warren) Sanford. She married Floyd Yacks Sr. on March 27, 1942.
She had worked at Howell Industries in Lapeer. She was a life member of the Women's V.F.W. Auxiliary 10884 in Mayville.
She is survived by her children, Floyd "Vic" (Darrellene) Yacks, Jr. of North Branch, Gerald (Susan) Yacks Sr. of Oscoda, William (Edie) Yacks of Peoria, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Yacks Sr. on Nov. 17. 1981; daughter, Fay Ann Yacks in 1948; siblings, Molly White, Clifford Sanford; and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Funeral services were Tuesday (June 18, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was in German cemetery, Oregon Township.

Oliver Dean Schroeder
Died: Friday, June 14, 2002
Age: 73

Lake Orion

Oliver Dean Schroeder, 73, of Lake Orion (formerly of Leonard, Rochester and Detroit), died Friday (June 14, 2002).
He was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Detroit, to Emerson and Helen (Rezanka) Schroeder.
He was a pattern-maker for Chrysler Corp. for 34 years, retiring in 1980. He served in the Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Joy E. Schroeder; children, Tim (Jennye) Schroeder of Armada, David (Nancy) Schroeder of Warren, Andrew (Terese) Schroeder of Royal Oak, Caryl (David) Carson of Rochester Hills, Janet (Carl) Briley of Dryden, Darrel (Terri) Marcotte of Brighton and Steve Marcotte of Rochester; many grandchildren; brother, Royal (Ethel) Schroeder of Defiance, Ohio; and sister, Jackie (Glenn) Koyl of Naalehu, Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Noreen Schroeder in 1996; his parents; and sister, Virginia.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Lung Association.
Funeral services were held Monday (June 17, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Michael W. Tyler officiated. Burial was in Green Corners cemetery, Hadley, with a military graveside service under the auspices of the American Legion Post 16 Honor Guard.

Dorothy Gwynne Miller
Died: Friday, June 14, 2002
Age: 88

Clawson

Dorothy Gwynne Miller, 88, of Clawson (formerly of Royal Oak), died Friday (June 14, 2002).
She was born Aug. 15, 1913, in Liverpool, England. She married Frederick S. Miller.
Shewas a graduate of Royal Oak High School in 1921.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Robbin) Miller of Toledo, Ohio, David (Marie) Miller of Baltimore, Md., Joyce (Karl) Kennaugh; siblings, Margery Eliot of Washington, D.C., Laurence Howarth of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Scott, Eric, Joshua, Kurt, Jonathan and Jesse; and great-grandchildren, Justin, Nicholas, Mikayla and Ethan.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
A memorial services were Wednesday (June 19, 2002) at St. John Episcopal Church, 115 Woodward Ave, Royal Oak. Cremation has taken place.

Harley Lee Grant
Died: Friday, June 14, 2002

Mayville

Harley Lee Grant, 84, of Mayville, died, Friday (June 14, 2002) at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe.
He was born Dec. 3, 1917 to James and Ruth (Stanley) Grant. He married Philippa Ann Fortier in Northhampton, Mass on Aug. 4, 1945.
He fought with the 2nd Marine Division in the South Pacific during World War II. He received battlefield commission as an officer and also served in combat in the Korean War. He retired as a major after 30 years of service in the U.S. Marines, in 1966. He enjoyed basketball, football, bowling, golfing and quarter horses.
He is survived by his wife, Philippa of Mayville; daughters, Mary (Clayton) Bell of Mayville, Nancy (Jim) Heston of Bradon, Fla. and Sandy Cassiday of Minneapolis, Minn; two grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
Burial will be in the Arlington National cemetery.

Mary A. Whipp

Age: 88

Lapeer

Mary A. Whipp, 88, of Lapeer, died Friday (June 14, 2002).
She was born Oct. 8, 1913, in Fenton, to Andrew and Fannie (Kostka) Rusinski. She married Bernard Whipp in Flint on April 3, 1937.
She is survived by her son, Charles Whipp of Lapeer; grandchildren, Lori Broecker of Davison, Julie (Pierre) King of Lapeer, Patrick (Kathy) Hunt of Imlay City and Paula (Robert) Pender of Lapeer; great-grandchildren, Jesse Broecker, Derek Broecker, Amber Broecker, Jeremy King, Tara (Chad) King Gonda, Tony Hunt, Mandy Hunt, Ryan and Karl Pender; great-great-grandchildren, Rowdy Bridger and Austin Gonda; siblings, Julie Hutchins of Lapeer and Edward Rusin of Bloomfield Hills; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Bernard Whipp in 1996; daughter, Marlene Hunt in 1999; parents; and siblings, Andrew, Joe, George and Margaret.
Funeral services were Monday (June 17, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. The Rev. Janusz Iwan officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Frank Lester II
Died: Thursday, June 13, 2002
Age: 38

Roscommon

Frank Lester II, 38, of Roscommon (recently from Lapeer), died Thursday (June 13, 2002).
He was born June 11, 1964, in Lapeer, to Frank Lester I and Sharon Papke. He married Sue Whelpley.
He was the general foreman at Albar Industries. He enjoyed his dune buggy, hunting and fast cars.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Lester of Roscommon; children, Stephanie (Andy) Biddle of Davison, Jessica Zielesch of Flint, Paul Zielesch of Hadley, Jason Zielesch of Davison, Angie Zielesch of Roscommon and Frankie Lester III of Roscommon; grandchildren, Anthony, Devin, Lakota and Skyllar; father, Frank (Peggy) Lester I of Lapeer; mother, Sharon Papke of Lapeer; parents-in-law, Roy and Dora Whelpley of Hadley; siblings, Cheryl (Craig) Ream of Lapeer, Lisa Lester of Imlay City, Chad (Shelly) Banchoff of Flint and Rhonda (Mike) Tracey of Lapeer; grandmothers, Margaret Witham of Lapeer and Gloria Cowell of Lapeer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Chuck Cowell and Donald Witham.
