BURR, WILLIAM B. SR., a native of Detroit, died Sat. Jan. 3, 1998 in Zephyrhills, FL, where Mr. Burr resided for 20 years. Mr. Burr retired from the Detroit Fire Dept. He was also Fire Commissioner in Warren for 10 years. He also served in WWII as a Lt. Commander in the Navy. He was a reader in the Christian Science Church in Zephyrhills. Mr. Burr was a member of St. Joseph Valley Lodge #4 F&AM Scottish Rite and the Moslem Temple of Detroit. He was an Eagle Scout and served in the Boy Scouts for 75 years. Mr. Burr is survived by a son William B. Burr, Jr. of Bloomfield Hills, a daughter Edith Ann Cline of Presque Isle, MI, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services were held at Kelly Memorial Funeral Home, Zephyrhills.

COBB, THOMAS H., M.D. Of Rochester Hills, formerly of Waterford, Michigan. December 21, 1997. Age 93. Husband of the late Adelaide (Betty) Cobb; dear father of John K. Cobb, M.D.; Jane A. Cobb, Thomas W. Cobb, PhD., and the late Richard Cobb; grandfather of Karen Cobb Cadman, Susan Cobb Zellers and Christina M. Cobb; great grandfather of Clarissa Cobb Cadman. Dr. Thomas Cobb was an alumnus of the University of Michigan and was a practicing physician in the Pontiac area for many years. He was a retired member of the staff of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac and was a life member of the Oakland County Medical Association. HINSBY, FLOYD C. January 5, 1998. Age 88. Of Grosse Pointe Shores. Beloved husband of Bernadine. Dear father of Caryl Hinsby, Patrick Hinsby (Vicky Timosan), and Susan Hinsby. Grandfather of Rachel and Tarah Duditch and Gretchen Timosan. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark on 09-09-09. At age 15 he came to America where he attended Fordham University in New York. He graduated as an Engineer, Serving his apprenticeship at Doehler Jarvis, Pottstown, PA. He came to Detroit and worked for American Can Co. He met and married his wife Bernadine in 1937. Mr. Hinsby started his own tool and die shop, Prospect Die & Mold Co. in 1947. He provided tools for the automotive/die casting industry and later plastics, specializing in ejection molding. At age 75, he opened a second plant in Fountain Inn, SC., semi retiring at age 84. He was a life time Bayview Yacht Club member, and "Old Goat" (a term used when you have sailed a minimum of 25 Mackinac races). He was an avid sailor all his life, sailing Great Lakes and Floridas southern circuit. For many years he skippered his own 54 sloop, Tamara. Memorial service Friday 4 p.m. at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack at Vernier, Grosse Pointe Woods. Memorials to the American Heart Association or The National Kidney Foundation appreciated or charity of donor s choice.
