Henry Schmidt, 88 of Belle Plaine and formerly of Gaylord, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Augu. 9, 2004, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gaylord. Full military rites will be conducted by the Gaylord Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post 433.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. Visitation will continue Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Henry is survived by his wife, Emma Schmidt of Belle Plaine; sons, Kenneth Schmidt of Maple Grove, and Wayne Schmidt of Inver Grove Heights, four grandchildren and sisters, Florence Chapin and Frieda Guiffre, both of Lincoln, Neb.
Henry Schmidt was born on April 14, 1916, in Lincoln to Fred and Elizabeth (Schoeneman) Schmidt.
Henry entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 30, 1942, and served during World War II, where he was promoted to the rank of corporal. He was honorably discharged on July 3, 1945.

Ida Maas, 85, of rural North Mankato, died Saturday, August 7, 2004 at the Grandview Good Samaritan Center in St. Peter where she had been a resident since 2000.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with Pastor Luke Myslik officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue on Tuesday for one hour prior to the time of service at the church.
Ida (Schroeder) Maas was born August 9, 1918 in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County to Louis and Maria (Dallmann) Schroeder. She attended country school and married Arthur Maas on April 12, 1939 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. They farmed in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County before retiring in the early 1980's. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet her entire life. In her younger years she worked hard on the farm and enjoyed her garden, flowers, cards, dancing to old time music, listening to music, and especially little children.
Ida is survived by one daughter and her husband, Donna and Dick Lange of rural North Mankato; one son and his wife, Donald and Judy Maas of rural Lake Crystal; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Schroeder of Mankato and Martha Schouviller of St. Peter; a brother and his wife, Harold and Val Schroeder of St. Peter; and by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur, on September 26, 2000; a grandson, Derek Maas; two sisters; six brothers; and by nieces and nephews.

Raymond Weise, 82, of 318 12th North St., New Ulm, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 at the Franklin Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 10, at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, with Rev. Todd Nelsen officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by Lafayette American Legion Post No. 300 will follow at First Lutheran Cemetery in Lafayette.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Raymond Charles Weise, the son of William and Ann (Wiedl) Weise, was born Dec. 12, 1921, in New Ulm, where he graduated from New Ulm High School in 1939. He entered the Merchant Marines, serving on a ship and traveling the world. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to New Ulm where he married Mayonne Johnson on July 25, 1946. They lived in various areas before settling in St. Peter where he worked for the State Security Hospital for over 17 years, retiring in 1977. In retirement, the couple moved to New Ulm where he continued to keep busy with a variety of jobs. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
Survivors included his wife, Mayonne of New Ulm; son, Ronald Weise of Fairmont; daughter, Shelly Busby and her husband Jeffrey of Hudson, Wis.; two grandchildren, Michael Alan Busby and his wife Amanda, Adam Glen Busby; three great-grandchildren, Tyrel Michael Busby, Mianda Mayonne Busby, and Kya Christian Busby, all of Hudson, Wis.; brother, Donald Weise and his wife Doris of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Marlys Tappe and her husband Carl of Hendersonville, N.C., Bette Johnson of Lafayette; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a son Richard Raymond Weise, who was killed in the Vietnam War, and a brother Roland Weise.

HANSKA -- A remembrance memorial service for Dennis Brudelie of Orefield, PA, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m. at Nora Unitarian Universalist Church in Hanska.

Kevin P. Froehlich, 25, of Winthrop, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2004, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Interment will be in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 9 p.m. Tuesday, at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop, and will continue from 9 ­ 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop.
Kevin Patrick Froehlich was born January 11, 1979, in New Ulm. He was the son of Bruce and Lynette (Henke) Froehlich.
Kevin was baptized on February 19, 1979, at the New Ulm Hospital. His affirmation of baptism was Easter Sunday, April 15, 1979, at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop. He was confirmed in his faith on May 15, 1994, at First Lutheran Church.
Kevin graduated from GFW High School in 1998. He worked for Crop Productions and GFW Schools.
Kevin was a member of Sibley County Sheriff Posse, FFA Alumni, and the Weekend Winthrop Wranglers trail riders.
Kevin was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with his family, socializing with friends, riding horses, spending time on the farm, and camping. His close friends will remember how he always enjoyed visiting, "right around supper time."
Kevin courageously struggled with kidney failure for 25 years, but with the love and support of family and many friends, he always kept his spirits high and fought the good fight. He was a blessing and inspiration to many and was always able to build up the spirits of those who were around him.
Kevin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Victor and Luella Froehlich and maternal grandfather, Harvey Henke.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Bruce and Lynette Froehlich of Winthrop; siblings, Ryan Froehlich and his wife, Jennifer of Winthrop, Scott Froehlich of Fairfax, and Elisa Froehlich and her special friend, Ryan Dording of Winthrop; maternal grandmother, Lucille Henke of Winthrop; a niece, Lilli Young of Winthrop; aunts and uncles, Janice Drill and her husband, Ken of Courtland, Deb Alsleben and her husband, Dan of New Ulm, Linda Gould and her husband, Ray of Savage, MN and LeAnn Byro and her husband, Randy of Winthrop; cousins, Mark Drill and his wife, Vanessa; Brant Drill and his wife, Rachel; Tami Drill; Darin Drill; Melissa Alsleben; Michele Alsleben; Jeremy Gould; Autumn Gould; Jason Byro; Joshua Byro; and Ashley Byro. and many friends.

Ann Gulden, 91, of Pierz, formerly of Searles, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Pierz Villa in Pierz.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at St. John's Catholic Church in Searles, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, and 7-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Schmucker Funeral Service, New Ulm. Parish prayer service is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
(Food donations should be left at the Searles town hall.)

Jerome Otto Meier, 56, of Moorhead, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at the Moorhead Healthcare Center.
He was born April 30, 1948, in Marshall to Marvin C.H. and Marian A.(Marquardt) Meier. He grew up in Vesta.
He is survived by his mother, Marian Meier of Park Rapids; sons, Jay Kays of Virginia, and Jeromy Meier, Rockford, MN; daughters, Kelly Jo Kays, Florida, Shelly Holmer, Osage and Sara Crowell, Grand Rapids; brother, Marvin D (Marie) Meier, Nevis and several grandchildren.

Rose Mary Reiner, 82, of Springfield, died Saturday, August 7, 2004, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Tuesday and 7:30-10 a.m., Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home and a CCW rosary at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at the church.
She is survived by son Steven Reiner of North Mankato; daughters, Peggy Reiner of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sue Pankratz of Mankato, and Jan Raushel of Aitkin; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Joe Mickelson; sisters, Ruth Rono, Esther Greenberg, and Mary Hacker
Rose Mary Reiner was born June 18, 1922 in Leavenworth, MN, to Fred and Josephine (Hillesheim) Mickelson.

Jon Ringnell, 39, of Fairmont, died Saturday, August 7, 2004 at his home.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm with Rev. Joyce Tollefson Capp officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Hanska.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 7:00 a.m. to the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Jon Leslie Ringnell, the son of Leslie and Everal (Sletta) Ringnell, was born October 5, 1964 in New Ulm. The family made their home in various states before moving to Welcome in 1978 where Jon attended school and graduated from Welcome High School in 1983. As a high school senior, he spent an entire year as a foreign exchange student in Norway. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from St. Olaf College in 1987. As part of his college studies, he spent a semester in the Middle East, based in Jerusalem where he taught English. Jon lived and worked in Minneapolis for several years before returning to the Fairmont area.
Survivors include his parents, Les and Everal Ringnell of New Ulm; sister, Kristi Vanasse and her husband Jeff of Fairmont; two nephews and one niece, Cody, Nicolas, and Sarah Vanasse of Fairmont; uncles, Orris Sletta and his wife Arlys, Grant Sletta and his wife Jolene, and Mark Sletta and his wife Marlys, all of Hanska, Doug Ringnell and his wife Ginny of Sherburn; aunt, Jean Horner and her husband Jerry of Harlingen, TX; stepgrandfather, Irv Plaisance of Madelia; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.

Sarah Renae Christenson, 21, of Nicollet, died Sunday, August 8, 2004, from injuries as a result of a car accident in Mora, Minn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet with Father Edward J. Ardolf celebrating. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Sarah is survived by her parents, Kevin J. and Barbara J. Christenson of Nicollet; sisters, Amanda and Hannah; by a brother, Matthew; and by many close friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ed and Charlotte Christenson of Bird Island, and Frank and Jean Schnoes of Paullina, Iowa; an uncle, Walter Corson; and by a cousin, Shawn Christenson.
Sarah was born on July 20, 1983, in Olivia to Kevin and Barbara (Schnoes) Christenson. She attended Nicollet Public School K-12 graduating in 2002. She was employed at In-Laws Restaurant in Nicollet and Menards in St. Cloud. She attended Saint Cloud State University for two years majoring in Communication Disorders-Sign Language.
Sarah had a zest for life, was outgoing, fun, kind, and respectful. She really cared about people and touched many lives through babysitting. She enjoyed traveling, reading, crafts, and sewing. Sarah was also an accomplished photographer. She was a member of the Newman Center Christ Church in Saint Cloud and the Women's Choir at Saint Cloud State University. Her twinkling brown eyes and big smile will be greatly missed. Sarah got the most of every day and lived life to the fullest.

Moline 'Lena' (Johnson) Ekman, 89, of Saint James, died Monday, August 9, 2004, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.
Services are 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery
Visitation is 10:30-11:30 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
Moline "Lena" Johnson Ekman, daughter of Reinder and Dena (Hassebrock) Johnson was born January 25, 1915 at Lakota, Iowa.

Ann Gulden 91, of Pierz, formerly of Searles, died Monday, August 9, 2004, at the Pierz Villa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church in Searles with Father John Richter celebrating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday and 7-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm. A parish prayer service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ann Marie Dahmen, the daughter of Nicklaus and Catherine (Brausen) Dahmen, was born March 18, 1913 in Granite Township, Morrison County.
She was united in marriage to Vic Breu in 1936. She helped Vic in the operation of Breu Brothers Garage by changing tires, oil, and pumping gas.
Ann also cooked for the priests in Searles. Her family and friends especially enjoyed her fried chicken and delicious pies. She liked quilting with friends and making homemade sausage and bread. After Vic's death, Ann continued to live in Searles. She married Rudy Gulden in 1969. Together they enjoyed fishing and traveling, and especially enjoyed their trip to Germany to visit relatives. Rudy died in 1974. Ann lived in Searles until July 2000 when she moved to North Point in Mankato. In August 2003 she moved to Pierz to be closer to her nieces.
She always made people feel welcome when they came through her door. Ann's beautiful smile lit up her face and she will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
Survivors include her sister, Irene Dahmen Probasco of Mooresville, NC; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husbands, Vic Breu and Rudy Gulden; brothers, Leo, Leonard, Lawrence, Al, Ed, Alfred, Bill, Nicky and Andy; and sisters, Loretta, Regina, Helen and Clara.
Food donations for the funeral should be left at the Searles Town Hall, due to construction in the fellowship hall of the church.
