Richard Rodgers

Funeral service for Richard Guy Rodgers, 72, Conway, Ark., formerly of Anoka, took place at New Life Church. Rev. Paul Young officiated.

Rodgers died Nov. 17, 2004 after a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 24, 1931 in Anoka to Army Lt. Hollis Rodgers and Evelyn Guy Rodgers, who were both descendants of Minnesota Territory pioneers. He was an Air Force veteran in the Korean War, flying 50 missions over North Korea and receiving nine Air Medals. For 24 years he worked as a U.S. immigration officer.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Young Rodgers; sons, David Rodgers of Spokane, Wash., Mark Rodgers of Florida, Patrick Rodgers of Mobile, Ala., and Brad Rodgers of Amsterdam, The Netherlands; daughters, Lisa Kay Burns of Spokane, Wash., and Sandy Michel of Conway, Ark; brothers, Terry Rodgers of Stillwater, and Jack Rodgers of Annandale, Va.; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Interment was at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Arrangements were by Central Arkansas Funeral Service, Conway.

Margaretha Rowe

Funeral service for Margaretha 'Marge' Rowe, 78, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 8 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. John Cedar officiated.

Rowe died Jan. 2, 2005 at the Wellstead of Rogers. She was born April 28, 1926 in Minneapolis.

She is survived by her children, David (Rita) Rowe and Diane (Dan) Zupfer; grandchildren, Ben, Sam, Annette, Michael, Zachary and Camille; and great-grandchildren, Chantel, Austin, Elsie and Olivia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; and mother, Marjorie Johnson.

Interment was at Foster Cemetery, Onamia. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Philip Schultz

Funeral service for Philip Joseph Schultz, 49, Bethel, took place Jan. 8 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Rich Patrow officiated.

Schultz died Jan. 4, 2005. He was born Dec. 10, 1955 in Minneapolis to Charles Kenneth and Darleen Pearl (Voss) Schultz. He was owner/operator of Soderville Construction.

He is survived by Lori Tasler; his children, Zach (Michelle), Sarah Keiser and Crystal Schultz; granddaughter, Isabella; mother, Darleen Richardson; sisters, Barbara Brown, Gloria (Curt) Magnuson, Charlotte Halverson and Kathryn (Brian) Holmstrom; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles; and brother, Kenneth.

Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Allen Sheldon

Funeral service for Allen D. Sheldon, 85, Mounds View, took place Jan. 10, 2005 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fridley. Rev. Don Erdmann officiated.

Sheldon died Dec. 31, 2004 in Fridley. He was born June 6, 1919 in Pine Island to Del and Bessie Sheldon and was a retired legal editor at West Publishing.

He is survived by his wife, Cornelia; children, Allen Blake Sheldon, Elaine (Glen) Milner, Arlene Sheldon, Roxanne (Bob) Coffelt and Joel Sheldon; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Miriam; and brother, Harold.

Pallbearers were were Allen Blake and Joel Sheldon, Glen and Adam Milner, and Robert and Sheldon Coffelt. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Ross and John Swenson.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Francis Smith

Memorial service for Francis DeWayne Smith, 66, Anoka, took place Jan. 8 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Chaplain Richard Stenholtz officiated.

Smith died Jan. 1, 2005. He was born April 20, 1938 in Pisgah, Iowa, and was a retired Air Force master sergeant with 40 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Kevin, Bryan (Ann), Debbie (Jay) and Greg; grandchildren, Breanna, Brennan and Justin; sister-in-law, Dee Smith; nephew, Jason; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Frances; and brothers, Doug and Dewight.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Lauren Soderquist

Funeral service for Lauren Gunnard Soderquist, 76, Soderville, took place Jan. 7 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Rev. Tessa Moon Leiseth officiated.

Soderquist died Jan. 4, 2005 at Cambridge Health Care Center. He was born July 27, 1928 in Anoka to Carl Gunnar and Ebba Josephine (Lee) Soderquist. He was a retired switchman for the Burlington-Northern Santa Fe Railroad, charter member of the Ham Lake Fire Department from 1969 to 1981 and a member of the Anoka American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; sons, Gregory, Jeffrey (Laura), Thomas and Robert; stepdaughter, Victoria (Doug) Smith; grandchildren, Chelsey, Wyatt and Danielle; stepgrandchildren, Shannon, Ariel, Luke and Erin; step-great-granddaughter, Sequoia; and aunt, Ann (Marvin) Larson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepdaughter, Brittany.

Pallbearers were Gregory, Jeffrey, Thomas, Robert and Mark Soderquist and Brent Lee.

Interment was at Our Saviour's Lutheran Cemetery, Ham Lake. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Margaret Tate

Funeral service for Margaret Tate, 74, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 7 at New Brighton Christian Church. Rev. Ron Hanson officiated.

Tate died Jan. 2, 2005 at Mercy Hospital. She was born July 9, 1930 in Cortland, N.Y.

She is survived by her husband, Leland; children, Vernon (Cathy), Duane (Julie) and Gloria Engen (Pat); 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Ransom and Barbara Kelley; and sister-in-law, Lois Olds.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Rovy Olds.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Elizabeth Winge

Funeral service for Elizabeth A. Winge (Hanson), 83, Elk River, took place Jan. 5 at Church of Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. Jose Puthenparambil officiated.

Winge died Jan. 2, 2005 in Elk River. She was born Oct. 24, 1921 in Minneapolis.

She is survived by her children, Bennett (Rita), Kathleen Hosch (Tom), Kevin (Shelley); eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Mike Ondarko.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd Hanson and Kermit Winge.

Interment was at Sunset Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Marcella Billstrom

Funeral service for Marcella (Sally) Billstrom, formerly of Coon Rapids and Carlsbad, N.M., took place Jan. 12, 2005 at St. Phillip's Catholic Church, Litchfield.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Dorothy Moen, June (Gene) Blanski, John (Darlene) Billstrom, Barbara (Martin) Weidenbach, Nancy (Michael) Perusse, Deborah (Stephen) Dufresne; son-in-law, James Duerr; 35 grandchildren; and 69 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ellen Duerr; grandson, Daniel Duerr; and son-in-law, Milton Moen.

Mary Hauwiller

Funeral service for Mary M. Hauwiller, 85, Ham Lake, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 22), 11 a.m. Deacon Peter Bednarczyk will officiate.

Hauwiller died Jan. 15, 2005 at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. She was born Dec. 20, 1919 in Milwaukee, Wis., to Charles and Mary (Slojtka) Vanderburgh and was a farmer.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Novotny; son, Tom Hauwiller; grandchildren, Jeff and Jason Frydenlund, Britnee, Seth and Caleb Hauwiller; and great-grandson, Jack.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; and son, Charles.

Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Walda Hodge

Funeral service for Walda Joan 'Wally' Hodge, 70, Coon Rapids, formerly of Anoka, took place Jan. 20 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Liane S. Rock officiated.

Hodge died Jan. 16, 2005 at Mercy Hospital. She was born March 5, 1934 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Robert Crawford and Elaine Magdalene (Postelle) Whitmore. She worked for Target Corp. in accounts payable.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Cathy) of Ramsey, Sharon Hodge of Wahkon, Janice (Joel) Krupicka of Elk River, Gregory (Marti) of Minneapolis, Howard (Tricia) of Champlin; grandchildren, Sidra, Alayna, Allison, Kristi, Sara and Davis; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Kylie; and sisters, Nancy (Donald) Gibbs of Pequot Lakes and Barbara Kluenenburg of Detroit Lakes.

Pallbearers were Robert, Gregory and Howard Hodge, Joel Krupicka, Derek Enderle and Brian Walz.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
