Walter Traphagen

Funeral service for Walter F. Traphagen, 76, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 10 at King of Glory Church. Rev. Gerald Peterson officiated.

Traphagen died Aug. 5, 2005 in Coon Rapids. He was born Aug. 9, 1928 in Oacoma, South Dakota to Walter and Frances Traphagen. He married Jaunita and worked as a machinist.

He is survived by his wife, daughter Linda (Jimmie) Armstrong; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Internment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Robert Billstrom

Funeral service for Robert E. Billstrom, 96, formerly of Coon Rapids and Anoka, took place in Litchfield Aug. 19, 2005.

Billstrom was born April 28, 1909 in a sod hut in Napoleon, N.D., of Swedish immigrants.

He is survived by six children and their spouses; 35 grandchildren; and 70 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella; daughter, Mary E. Duerr; and infant grandson, Daniel Duerr.

John Boros

Funeral service for John J. Boros, 78, Anoka, took place Aug. 25 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Mike VanSloun officiated.

Boros died Aug. 19, 2005 at Mercy Hospital. He was born June 23, 1927 in Sobieski to Leo F. and Elizabeth M. (Kaiser) Boros. He was a Korean War veteran, a charter member of the Crosier Apostalate, fourth-degree Knights of Columbus and a member of the VFW, Moose Club, American Legion and Lions Club. He was a retired real estate broker and owner of the Chris Agency in Anoka.

He is survived by his daughters, Christine (Gary) Anderson, Marilyn, Deborah, Sandi (Marc) Weis; sons, Thomas (Judy), James (Toni), Robert (Victoria); grandchildren, Jennifer (Nate) Parlin, Justin Anderson, Jacqueline and Krista Boros, Prescott and Alexandra Weis, Elizabeth and Catherine Potts, Penina Boros; great-grandchildren, Samuel and Katrina Parlin; sisters, Genevieve (LeRoy) Elliott, Veronica (Harvey) Doble; brother, Richard (Renata) Boros; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles; good friend, Sharlene Lemon; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; parents, Leo Sr. and Elizabeth; infant daughter, Kathleen; and brothers, Henry and Leon Jr.

Interment was at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Bulldog Lake. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Dennis Brown

Funeral service for Dennis Richard Brown, 44, Anoka, took place Aug. 22 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Mark Hellmann officiated.

Brown died Aug. 18, 2005 in Ramsey. He was born Nov. 22, 1960 in Minneapolis to Richard David and Deloris Mae (Makowsky) Brown. He was a self-employed mechanic.

He is survived by longtime companion, Rhonda Gould; son, Nicholas; parents, Richard and Deloris Brown; grandmother, Mabel Makowsky; brothers, Darin and Daniel (Sandra) Brown; sister, Debra (Victor) Johnson; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Nicholas Gould, Brian Dahl, William Makowsky, Joel and Darin Brown and Cortland Johnson.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Kay Bruns

Memorial service for Kay Lynette Lindquist Bruns, 52, Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Spring Lake Park, took place Aug. 11 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Colorado Springs.

Bruns died Aug. 6, 2005 when she was struck in a crosswalk by a pickup truck and killed. She was born July 19, 1953 in Minneapolis. She was a 1971 graduate of Spring Lake Park High School, was a piano teacher and was employed with the Picnic Basket for over 15 years.

She is survived by her parents, Mayland and Robert Lindquist of Spring Lake Park; sister, Nancy and family of Fargo, N.D.; brother, Steven of Alexandria, Va.; husband, Dennis; daughter, Camilla of Florida; and sons, Courtney and Erik.

Phyllis Buckley

Funeral service for Phyllis Mae Buckley, 82, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 19 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Dennis Zehren officiated.

Buckley died Aug. 16, 2005 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Oct. 20, 1922 in Minneapolis to Martin Wilhelm and Elsie Johanna (Barney) Malzahn.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Sherry), Cathy (Gary) Carlson and nancy (Jeff) Whitecotton; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Buck;" and grandson, Christopher Carlson.

Pallbearers were Craig and Troy Buckley, Kevin Pederson, Jack Sjurseth, Jeff Carlson and Glen Engberg.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Clarence Forse

Funeral service for Clarence Chester Forse, 88, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 24 at First Baptist Church of Anoka. Rev. John Hunter and Jerry Westberg officiated.

Forse died Aug. 21, 2005 at his home. He was born Nov. 30, 1916 in Moose Lake to Arthur and Mary Sophia (Sippola) Forse. He was a retired tool and die maker.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; daughters, Laurel and Shelley Forse; and sisters, Tina (Arnie) Hagfors, Helen Schmidt, Lillian (Myron) Ostlund, Doris (Rev. Henry) Johanson.

He was preceded in death by his son, Terence.

Pallbearers were Warren Lamusga, Bill Obedoza, Randy Gwin, Norman and Jerry Hagfors and Keith Moline.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Joy Hannan

Funeral service for Joy Ann Hannan, 70, Melrose, Wis., took place Aug. 20 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Bill Eaves officiated.

Hannan died Aug. 16, 2005 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wis. She was born Dec. 18, 1934 in Minneapolis to Paul Lewis and Dolores Ethel (Tolan) Pierce Sr.

She is survived by her children, Dolores (Richard) Doers, Loren Hannan Jr., Patricia Blanchard, Vicki (Duane) Weldon, Michael (Lisa) Hannan, Daniel (Karen) Hannan; grandchildren, Erin Brandon, Kelly Kelzenberg, Danielle and Adam Blanchard, Tifanie and Cory Weldon; great-grandson, Jason Kelzenberg; brother, Paul (Winness) Pierce; and sisters, Bunny (Gary) Lien and Nicky (John) Becker.

Pallbearers were Loren Jr., Michael and Daniel Hannan, Paul Pierce III, John Becker and Duane Weldon.

Interment was at Pierce Cemetery, Oak Grove. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Lon Kensek

Funeral service for Lon P. Kensek, 57, Andover, took place Aug. 15 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Kensek died Aug. 8, 2005. He was a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, worked for 10 years as a chemist, was a director at TIRO Industries and was creator, co-owner and technical services consultant of SIRA International. He was a member of the Minnesota Astrological Society.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth (Treffert); daughter, Amanda Kern and fiance Greg Huber; brother, John (Mary Ann); sister, Betty (Harold) Berry; parents, John M. and Carrie Kensek; nephew, John P. (Heather); business partner and friend, Virginia Wrobel; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by Candace.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Edward Kessler

Funeral service for Edward Kessler, 88, Circle Pines, took place Aug. 8 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Del Schmidt officiated.

Kessler died Aug. 3, 2005. He was born June 24, 1917 in Aberdeen, S.D.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Orren Koehler

Funeral service for Orren J. Koehler, 93, Nowthen took place Aug. 22 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Elk River.

Koehler died Aug. 21, 2005 at North Memorial Hospice. He was a lifelong resident of Nowthen, retired employee of Federal Cartridge and a member of the Nowthen Engine Club.

He is survived by his wife, Clairejean; children, Patti (Duane) Reynolds, Carol (James) Bierbaum, Mary Jo (Kurt) Berendt, Judi (Gary) Huss, Rick (Wanda), Paul (Mary), Denise Koehler, and George (Roxy); grandchildren, Vanessa and Kendra Reynolds, Brian and Scott Bierbaum, Robert and Nicholas Berendt, Jaime and Jason Huss, Susan Peine, Michael (Jenny) Lamp, Matt (Beth) Baufield, Alan, Phillip and Megan Koehler and Jacob Koehler; great grandchildren, Katlynn, James and Robert Hores, Christopher and Adam Peine, Caleb Buecksler, David Lamp, Keegan Reynolds and Shelby Baufield; and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne; and brother, Francis Koehler

Interment was at St Andrew's Parish Cemetery. Arrangements were by Dare's Funeral Home, Elk River.

Lowell Kvam

Funeral service for Lowell M. Kvam, 75, Belle Plaine, formerly of Anoka, took place Aug. 21 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. James Martin officiated.

Kvam died Aug. 18, 2005 in Belle Plaine. He was born Oct. 7, 1929 in Benson to Lars and Marie Kvam and was employed in sales.

He is survived by his sister, Cora Wollschlager; brother, Arden (Barb) and Ken (Margaret); and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; and parents, Lars and Marie.

Pallbearers were Steve and Kevin Kvam, Larry Effertz, Robert Padfield, Pete Seamans and Scott Zdrazil. Honorary pallbearers were Kristie Seamans, Kim Zdrazil, Laurie, Franny and Karen Kvam, Roger Wollschlager, Vicki Appino, Julianne Effertz and Marilu Padfield.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
