Myrtle Titterud
Funeral services for Myrtle Margarite Titterud, 89, Ham Lake, took place Aug. 9 at Glen Cary Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul Settergren officiated.
Titterud died Aug. 6, 2004 at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale. She was born March 13, 1915 in Minneapolis to Herbert William and Amanda Wilhemena (Gustafson) Anderson.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (William) Pedersen of St. Peter, Shirley (Wallace) Sundberg of Red Wing and Sharon (Richard) Swanson of Brooklyn Park; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Lindholm of Brooklyn Center; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; sisters, Ethel and Betty Anderson; and brother, Warren Anderson.
Pallbearers were Michael Gabrick, Gordon Hass Jr., Gerald Titterud, Henry Larson, and Dean and Dale Lindholm.
Interment was at Glen Cary Lutheran Cemetery, Ham Lake. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Vivian Ward
Funeral services for Vivian J. Ward, 62, Dayton, will take place today (Friday, Aug. 13) at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church., Rev. Dennis Heiden will officiate.
Ward died Aug. 9, 2004 at her daughter's home in Ramsey. She was born June 22, 1942 in Minneapolis to Jesse J. Sr. and Ada M. (Sanford) Jett and was a personal care attendant.
She is survived by her husband, Al; daughters, Jean (Brian) Towley, Donna (Gregg) Christopherson, Sarah Ward; nine grandchildren; father, Jesse Jett Sr.; siblings, Beryl Mox, Sanford Jett, Susan Tucker, Connie Norman, Cindy Watrous and Jesse Jett Jr.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ada Jett; and son, George Ward.
Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Melvin Wicks
Funeral services for Melvin O. Wicks, 78, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 3 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids.
Wicks died July 29, 2004. He was born Feb. 5, 1926 in Minneapolis.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; sons, Mark (Darlene) and John (Debbie); daughter, Rosemary (Mike) Bucy; daughters-in-law, Dawn and Valerie; brother, Orlin (Doris); 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Elizabeth; sister, Ruth; and son, Richard.
Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Evva Alsaker
Funeral services for Evva L. 'Toots' Alsaker, 73, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 12 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. Duane Schmeichel officiated.
Alsaker died Aug. 7, 2004 in Coon Rapids. She was born Dec. 11, 1940 in Tuttle, N.D., to Edmund and Olga Nerlien. She was an auxiliary member and retired volunteer of the Coon Rapids VFW Post.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Jerry), Lannis (Gail), Sheila (Jim), Loren (Mary), Steven (Michelle), Terry, Robyn (Kenny), Lisa (Chris); 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna and Venoie (Dennis); and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; baby son; grandsons, Ryan and Wade; eight brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers were Michael Mayne, Leslie Proefrock and Jesse, Chad, Brandon and Cory Alsaker.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home.
Gary Carlson
Funeral services for Gary Robert Carlson, 49, Anoka, took place Aug. 13 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. Jim Martin officiated.
Carlson died Aug. 4, 2004 in Anoka. He was born in Rochester to Norman and Arleen Grant, was divored and worked as an automobile mechanic.
He is survived by his son Bradley and daughter Krista.
Internment was by cremation. Arrangements were made by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.
Mary Ellen Duerr
Funeral services for Mary Ellen Duerr, 68, Champlin, took place Aug. 10 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Mike Van Sloun officiated.
Duerr died Aug. 6, 2004 at her home. She was born Jan. 12, 1936 in Minneapolis to Robert Billstrom and Marcella Oenning and was a banking accounts manager.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Christine (Barry) DeZiel, Laura (David) Dahlheimer, Mary Jo (David) Quam, Jane (Skip) Young, Sue (John) Talbot, Deanna (Jim) Comeau, James Jr. (Karen) Duerr, Julie (Gary) Talbot; 17 grandchildren; parents, Robert and Marcella Billstrom; five sisters; and one brother.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Daniel.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.
Lynn Duevel
Funeral services for Lynn Duevel, 80, New Hope, took place Aug. 14 at St. Timothy's Catholic, Blaine. Rev. Harry Tasto officiated.
Duevel died Aug. 11, 2004 in New Hope. She was born April 12, 1924 in Minneapolis and was self-employed.
She is survived by her husband, Norbert; sons, Tom, Jerry and Jim; daughter, Pat O'Ryan; and their families.
Pallbearers were Bob Koetter, Rick, Tim and Ed Duevel, Bill Glowacki and Jeff Schneider.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Oleta Fields
Funeral services for Oleta Fay Fields, 76, Andover, took place Aug. 18 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Fr. Mike Van Sloun officiated.
Fields died Aug. 13, 2004 at her residence in Andover. She was born March 10, 1028 to Albert and Ethel Holley in Haskell, Tex, and married Raymond Anthony Fields.
She was one of the first female rural postal carriers in Anoka County. She was also an avid golfer.
Fields was preceded n death by her parents and sister Shirley. She is suvived by her husband Raymond, children Tony (Janey), Ron (Suzanne), Steve (Cheryl), Robert (Susan), Mike (Shenna), Loretta Fields and Greg Fields; 10 grandchildren; sisters Anita, Lolita and Helen and many other relatives and friends.
Internment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Mary Hackbarth
Funeral services for Mary E. Hackbarth, 74, Brooklyn Park, took place Aug. 12 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Brooklyn Park. Rev. Martin Stillmock officiated.
Hackbarth died Aug. 9, 2004 in Brooklyn Center. She was born Aug. 18, 1929 in Anoka to Edward L. Egan and Margaret A. Weidner and was a retired factory worker for Target.
She is survived by her sons, Tom (Mary K.) and Kelly; stepson, Darrel Hackbarth; daughters, Susan (Tim) Armstrong and Mary (Jimmer) Hollerbach; stepdaughter, Darlene Ploeger; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Micky and Eddie; and sisters, Betty Irwin, Sue Hartfiel, Peggy Wells and Maureen Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Paul (Clancy); and brother, Joe Egan.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.
LeRoy Hanson
Funeral services for Leroy Arnold Hanson, 74, Champlin, took place Aug. 13 at the Servant of Christ Lutheran Church in Champlin. Rev. Brenda Legred officiated.
Hanson died at his home in Champlin Aug. 9, 2004. He was born May 6, 1930 in Minneapolis to George and Antointhe Hanson and married Joan Helsine. He was a 40-year employee of Honeywell.
Hanson is survived by his wife Joan; children Scott (Sandy) Hanson, Vonnie (Mike) Drier, Michelle Kropski, Diane (Tom) Schwartz), Ray (Linda) Wojcik, Pat (Nancy) Wojcik; 13 grand children; sister Georgeanne (Ray) Karnuth and his brother Wallace Hanson.
Internment was private. arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Richard Herrala
Funeral services for Richard Andrew Herrala, 73, Anoka, took place Aug. 12 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Rev. Rosanne Swanson officiated.
Herrala, who served in the Army, died Aug. 10, 2004 in Anoka. He was born March 1, 1931 in Ely to Andrew and Tyne Herrala and married Dolores Takavitz. He was employed in the music industry as an instrument salesman.
Herrala was preceded in death by his wife Dolores. He is survived by his sons David (Sandy), Mark (Judy), Michael (Shannon), Dan (Wanda), Douglas and Steve (Sherry) and 11 grandchildren.
Internment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetary. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home of Anoka.
