Ronald Mortenson
Funeral services for Ronald A. Mortenson, 71, Mora, took place Aug. 24 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. Roger Stensaas officiated.
Mortenson died Aug. 20 in Minneapolis. He was born June 21, 1933 in Detroit Lakes to Andrew Mortenson and Ruth Day and was a mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Becky Nielsen, Greg and Dan Mortenson; grandchildren, Kristy, Jennifer, Christopher, Tony, Michael; great-grandchildren, Taytum, Levi; sisters, Merle, Vida, Helen; brothers, Floyd, Les, Roy, Bruce, Buck; and numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by infant daughters; parents; and a sister.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Coon Rapids Funeral Home.
Wayne Teale
Funeral services for Wayne Allen Teale, 80, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 19 at Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home. Rev. Mari Larson officiated.
Teale died Aug. 16 in Roseville. He was born Sept. 6, 1923 in Bogard, Mo., to Wallace A. and Mable Benedict Teale and was a retired heavy equipment oiler in construction.
He is survived by his wife, Mary 'Lucy;' sons, Tom (Karen), Tony (Vicki) and Kerry (Gladys); daughters, Mary (Jack) Somora and Barbara (Randy) Sando; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Jean (Larry) Brimmer.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Leah.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.
Barbara Treanor
Funeral services for Barbara Ann Treanor, 73, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 24 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Liane S. Rock officiated.
Treanor died Aug. 20 in Anoka. She was born April 25, 1931 in Minneapolis to George and Marie (Cullen) Stiebler and was a retired mail sorter at the Minneapolis Post Office.
She is survived by her children, Steven (Lynda), Deborah (John) Miller, Suzanne (Peter) Pietruszewski, Bradley, James, Tracy, Kevin (Lynda) Treanor; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, George (Dee) Stiebler; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; grandson, Travis; sister, Marion Miller; and brother, Jack Clark.
Pallbearers were Steve, Bradley, James, Tracy and Kevin Treanor and Shane Otten.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Steven Vasel
Funeral services for Steven Vasel, 34, Catlett, Va., took place Aug. 21 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Thomas Kunnel officiated.
Vasel died Aug. 15 on Mt. Wilson, Colo., while rock climbing, training to climb Mt. Everest. He was born Sept. 1, 1969 in St. Paul to Wayne J. Vasel and Margie Oeltjenbruns and was a nuclear export control specialist for Gregg Services. He served in the military from 1987 to 1997, including the Gulf War and was a Russian linguist.
He is survived by his fiancee Susan Snow and her son, Elliot; children, Alexandra and Christopher Vasel and their money Renee Vasel; mother and stepfather, Marge and Harlan Oeltjenbruns; brother, Adam Vasel and spouse Kari; sister, Lorinda Vasel; niece, Kjerstin Vasel; nephews, Gabriel and Zachary Lambert; grandmother, Evelyn Wagner; uncle, John Wagner and spouse Alice; aunt, Myrna Stone; and cousins, Matt Wagner and spouse Megan and Charles Lundby.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne John Vasel.
Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Marie Waldorf
Funeral services for Marie B. Waldorf, 67, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 20 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Blaine. Revs. Harry Tasto and Bernard Reiser officiated.
Waldorf died Aug. 15, 2004 in Coon Rapids. She was born Dec. 26, 1936 in Superior, Wis., and was a caregiver.
She is survived by her children, Leanne (Tim) Omodt, Karen (Larry) Farr, Steve (Mary), Cheri (Scott) LaMere, Kimberly (John) Ligeros; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, 'Toot' Archambeau and 'Tom' Erno; brother, Jim Patnode; and many family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; and brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers were Jason, Joshua and Jeremy Mann, Paul Farr and Ryan LaMere.
Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Bert Amonett
Private family service for Bert Amonett, 82, Anoka, will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Amonett died Oct. 3, 2004 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital. He was born Oct. 2, 1922 in Stillwater and was retired from the city of St. Paul maintenance department.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Rodney Amonett, Nancy Amonett; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia and Sue; and brother, Russell.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Betty Bowman
Betty L. Bowman, 82, Coon Rapids, died Sept. 26, 2004 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center.
She was born Jan. 14, 1922 in Peoria, Ill., to Jacob and Gertrude Johnson.
She is survived by her daughters, Sally, Nancy and Linda; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Bernice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude.
Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Nora Burland
Memorial service for Nora Mae Burland, 90, Orr and McGregor, formerly of Coon Rapids and Andover, will take place at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 9), at First Congregational Church of Anoka.
Burland died Sept. 25, 2004 at Cook Nursing Unit. She was born in Gilby, N.D., in 1914 to George and Louise Beedy. She had a successful career in a retail dress shop. After retirement she was active in the Coon Rapids Super Senior Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Dona Anderson (Gary) of McGregor; son, Ronald (Susan) of Orr; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; and all her brothers and sisters.
Private family interment will take place at Orr Saturday, Oct. 16. Arrangements were by the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
Denise Carik
Funeral services for Denise Heather Louise Carik, 34, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 4 at Oak Haven Church. Rev. Fred C. Tuma officiated.
Carik died Sept. 29, 2004 at Hennepin County Medical Center from injuries received in a car accident. She was born May 6, 1970 in Moline, Ill., to Dennis Joseph and Caroline Marie (Bickford) Dixon and was a secretary in the Spring Lake Park School District.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Gabrielle; mother, Caroline Dixon; father, Dennis Dixon; brothers, Jonathan (Carol) and Derek Dixon; niece, Julia Dixon; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Jonathan and Derek Dixon, Joseph, Mark, Timothy and Thomas Carik.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
William Connett
Funeral services for William A. 'Bill' Connett, 79, Anoka, took place Oct. 5, 2004 at Anoka United Methodist Church.
Connett was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; children, Diane (Denny Axell) Seifert, William P. Gary (Julie), Daniel (Jenna); stepsons, Robert (Barbara) Lange, Ronald (Lois) Lange; grandchildren, Jason, Sara, Ashley, Brandon, Trevor, Andrea, Cory, Rachel, Kristy, Robert and Mark; several great-grandchildren; and sisters, Evelyn, Betty and Agnes.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Grover.
Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.
Doris Harrington
Doris L. Harrington, 82, Anoka, died Sept. 26, 2004.
She is survived by her husband, Doane; daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Marvin Christenson; and granddaughter, Lisa Marketon.
Arrangements were by the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
