Lillie A. Marti, 98, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at Oak Hills Living Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery.
Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by sisters-in-law, Ceil Marti of Grand Forks, N.D., Helen Marti of Mankato, Magdalene Marti of New Ulm; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Edna Miller, Sylvia Marti, Ruth Olson, Arloine Aufderheide; and brothers, Leonard Marti, Harold Marti, W.R. "Bibs: Marti, and Lloyd Marti.
She was born on May 19, 1902, in Sleepy Eye to William and Caroline (Wenger) Marti. She had worked as a long distance operator for the telephone company in New Ulm until she retired. She was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm and had been a member of the United Methodist Women at church and she had been a member of the Sioux Valley Hospital Auxiliary in New Ulm.

Erwin O. Dahlke, 79, of Green Isle, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Hennepin County Medical Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Gree Isle, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and one hour before services Saturday at the church. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. today at the church.
Fenske Funeral Homes, Arlington, handled arrangements.
He is survived by wife, June Dahlke of Green Isle; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Charles Selchow of Green Isle, Shirley and Larry Sommers of Green Isle, Marilyn and Jim Uecker of Chaska, Janice and Bob Douglas of Reading, Penn.; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Myrna Dahlke of Glencoe, Ronald and Betty Dahlke of Green Isle; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Alma Schmidt of Sheboygan, Wis., Velma Baumchen of Waconia; brothers and sister-in-law, Marvin Dahlke of Milwaukee, Wis., Arthur and LaVerna Dahlke of Arlington, Harry Dahlke of Chicago; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Clara Penske, Sylvia Lucht; brothers, Alfred and Elmer.
He was born May 23, 1921, in Arlington Township to Herman and Dora (Meyer) Dahlke. He married June Meyer on May 7, 1944, at Zion Lutheran Church, Green Isle Township. He farmed until retiring in 1990, when he moved to Green Isle.

Henry C. Mathistad, August 31, 2000, at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Butterfield.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James.
He is survived by his wife Elisie of Butterfield; daughter Mavis and husband Tom Bearie of Watertown; son Roger of Morristown; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice Askevold, Mabel Beck, Esther Bosshardt, and Ragna Schneider; brothers, Charlie, Selmer "Sam", Helmer "Ham", Palmer "Pete", Carl "Syver", John, and William "Bill".
He was born April 8, 1912, in Jackson County, to Christian and Anna (Grev) Mathistad. Henry farmed with his brothers on the family farm before entering active duty with the U.S. Army in May 1942. He was stationed in Europe with the 743rd Tank Division and was involved in the Battle of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Following his honorable discharge in October 1945, he was employed by the railroad on the section line between Butterfield and Comfrey. He married Elsie Louise Geiger on Oct.20, 1951, in Comfrey. They made their home in Butterfield, as Henry did some construction work before taking jobs at Butterfield Foods and Tony Downs Foods, St. James. He retired in 1971. He was a member of First Lutheran Church; VFW Post No. 9607; and Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Butterfield.

Barney Jenniges, 81, of Wabasso, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, in Sanborn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7:30 p.m. Monday, and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a parish prayer service 7:30 p.m. Monday. Sunset Funeral Home, Wabasso, is handling arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Loretta; sons, Michael and wife, Betsy, of Atlanta, Kenneth and wife, Shelley, of Indianapolis, Ind., Timothy and wife, Lori, of Fishers, Ind., Joseph and Kathy of Delano; daughter, Linda Guetter of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Omar "Butch" Jenniges and wife, Alice, of Wanda, Yuo Jenniges and wife, Trudy, of Glenwood, Dennis Jenniges and wife, Harriet, of Janesville, Alphonse Jenniges and wife, Elaine, of Brainerd; and sister, Rose Spangler of Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Barney V. Jenniges was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Wanda, to Ben and Rosa (Otte) Jenniges. He grew up on the family farm and attended Wanda Elementary and Lamberton High School, graduating in 1936. He married Loretta Uhlenkamp on May 1, 1946 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Morgan. They lived on a family farm three miles southeast of Wabasso, where he farmed until retiring in 1982, and moved into Wabasso. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Colombus, served as an Eucharist minister giving home communion, was on the church cemetery board and received the Bishops Medal of Service in 1997. He also served as director on the W.A.F.E.R. board, was director of the Historical Society, was a member of the Wabasso Lions Club, Wabasso Senior Citizens and was the outstanding Senior Citizen for Redwood County in 1993.

Harry C. Finkelson, 92, of Madelia died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Austin Medical Center, Austin.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madelia. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Madelia.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are handled by Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia.
Finelson is survived by brothers, Wilhelm of Austin, Raymond and wife, Florian, of Austin, and Harvey and wife, Barbara, of Afton, Wyo.; sisters, Kerney Adams of Austin, and Lucille and husband, Lorin Woods, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Harry Finkelson was born Oct. 17, 1907, in Adams, the son of Peter and Clara (Hanson) Finkelson. He grew up and attended public school in Adams. He married Eva May Youngdahl on May 27, 1932, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams. They lived in Austin, and Harry worked for Hormel for several years. In 1954, they farmed near Madelia, which they did for many years, then moved into Madelia. After they retired, they voluntered at Luther Memorial Home, serving meals to seniors.

Sister Michael Walch, 82, of Rochester died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at Assisi Heights, Rochester.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, Assisi Heights. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and before services Thursday at Assisi Heights.
Walch is survived by a sister, Renata Walch of Assisi Heights; a brother, Michael Walch of Altura, Minn.; and members of her Franciscan community.
Annabelle Theresa Walch was born March 27, 1918, in Minneiska, Minn. She entered the Franciscan Congregation in 1940 from Immaculate Conception Parish, Oak Ridge, Minn. She became a Franciscan Sister with the profession of vows in 1943 and began her ministry of domestic care at St. Mary's Parish, Sleepy Eye. She ministered in parishes in Rochester, Adrian, Johnsburg, Ellsworth, Austin, Winona, and Ironton, Ohio. From 1977 to 1993, Sister Michael was assigned to St. Mary's Parish, Sleepy Eye, where she served as a Title I teacher's aide. She retired to Assisi Heights in 1993 and celebrated her golden jubilee that year.

Florence C. Towler, 96, of Redwood Falls, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Redwood Falls. Interment will be in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, with an Eastern Star service at 6:30 p.m.
She is survived by sons, Rev. James Towler and wife, Arlene, of St. Cloud, Robert Towler and wife, Dorothy, of Rock Island, Roger and wife, Annette, of St. Cloud; daughter, Donna (Weisbrod) and Bob Lee of Rochester; son-in-law, Gene Hook of Tracy; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Christison and wife, Audy, of Plainview; sister, Margaret and husband, Earl Evans, of Midville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, one brother and three sisters.
Florence Towler was born July 19, 1904, in Plainview, Wabasha County, Minn., daughter of James Miller and Inga Marie (Christensen) Christison. She attended Plainview Public Schools and Owatonna Normal School, graduating in 1924. She married John E. P. Towler on July 14, 1928, on the family farm in Plainview. After their marriage, they lived in Clarksfield, Montevideo, and later moved to Redwood Falls in 1941. He died in 1984.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Women Society of Christian Service, Women Federation, Eastern Star, serving as a worthy matron, was a Sunday school teacher, library caretaker and worked with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America.

Irma Hulke, 75, of 1501 South Valley Street in New Ulm, formerly of rural New Ulm, died Monday, September 4, 2000 at her home in New Ulm.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
She is survived by her husband, Willard A. Hulke, of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law Rachel and James Harbarth of rual Gaylord, Nancy and Bernie Reinhart of rural New Ulm, Lois and Randy Trump of Faribault, and Linda and Bill Youngblom of rural Lafayette; sons and daughters-in-law James and Jayne Hulke and Robert and Karen Hulke all of New Ulm; a son Richard Hulke of New Ulm; 15 grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edgar and Sally Lueders of Faribault, Leonard and Phyllis Lueders of Austin, Willard and Karen Lueders of Sheboygan, Wis., and Martin and Carole Lueders of Fridley; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harvey and Ardella Hulke of Courtland; a sister-in-law Lillian Rasmussen of New Ulm; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sylvia and Richard Koehler of Hanska. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and two brothers, all in childhood, a sister and brother-in-law Martha and Marvin Wegner; a sister-in-law Dorothy Lueders; and a brother-in-law Clifford Rasmussen.
She was born July 14, 1925 at home in Newhall, Iowa to Karl and Adeline (Kolander) Lueders. The family lived in Lakefield and Faribault where she graduated from the Faribault High School in 1943. After high school she attended Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato where she received her teaching degree in 1945. She then taught school at the Immanuel Lutheran School in rural Courtland. On June 20, 1947 she married Willard Hulke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault. After marriage they farmed near Swan Lake, rural Courtland, and later farmed in rural New Ulm, east of Klossner.
They retired from farming and moved to New Ulm in 1992. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Courtland, and a member of the Dorcas Society at church. She had been active as a volunteer in many community and church activities.

Matilda Wagner, 9, of New Ulm, formerly of Comfrey, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000 at Oak Hills Living Center, New Ulm.
Services are 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Comfrey, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday at the church. there will be a CCW rosary 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Sturm Funeral Home, Comfrey, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews; and special friend Lavon Smith of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl; son David; brothers, Isidore, Alphonse, Hyacinth, Leo, and Aloysius; and sisters, Ceclia Wooley, Caroline Schmitt, Evelyn Babler, Marcella, and Matilda.
She was born Aug. 1, 1904 in Mulligan Township, Brown County, to William and Lucy (Schumacher) Schmitt. She lived most of her life in Comfrey, attending country school and Comfrey School. She married Earl Wagner on Oct. 8, 1928 in Comfrey. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. She was part owner of Wagner's Grocery Store, Comfrey.

Lona Mae Hauptli, 87, of Wabasso, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000 at St. Cloud Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at New Avon United Methodist Church, New Avon Township, with burial in Salem United Methodist Cemetery, New Avon Township.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and will continue Friday one hour prior to services at the church.

Erwin Koreis, 89, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Providence Yakima Medical Center, in Yakima, Wash.
Mass of Christian burial will be noon Friday at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Yakima with burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Yakima.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home in Yakima. A Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers,memorials may be given in Koreis' name to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice in care of the Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife Verna of Yakima; son James and Ann Koreis of Thorp; brother Hilary Koreis of Bellingham, Wash.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Geraldine Hull.
He was born Oct. 11, 1910 to Joseph L. and Caroline (Hacker) Koreis, in New Ulm.
He worked for Burrow's Motor Company for 22 years, retiring from Turner Implement in 1976.
