Albert 'Al' Dittmer, age 91, of Fairfax, passed away on Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at his home in Fairfax.
Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.16, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Interment will be at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Cairo Township. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and 7:30 ­ 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Tuesday.
Albert "Al" Henry Dittmer was born June 19, 1912, in Helen Township, McLeod County, to William and Emma (Bullert) Dittmer. On April 28, 1938, Al married Anna Weckwerth, in Arlington.
Al and Anna owned and operated Deep-Rock Station in Fairfax. They later owned and operated Dittmer Oil (formerly Conoco) until he retired in 1993. Al was a member of the Fairfax City Council for 22 years, and on the Board of Directors for Mayflower Country Club. He was a member and was very active in St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax, and had served as a deacon, in the past.
Al loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, golf, traveling and playing cards. Al and Anna enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, Ariz.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; son Robert Dittmer, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Mary Dittmer; and brother Elmer.
Al is survived by his wife, Anna Dittmer of Fairfax; grandchildren, Debra Grams and husband Kirk of New Ulm; Robert Dittmer, Jr. and his wife Cathy of Valencia, Calif., Jeffrey Dittmer and his wife Sonja of Waxahachie, Texas, and Paul Dittmer and his wife Mary-Ellen of Gibbon; great-grandchildren, Dustin, James, Christopher and Kaylee; sisters, Esther Mueller of Glencoe, Ella Ide of Lester Prairie, and Verna Ruehling of Jordan; brother, Harvey Dittmer and his wife Hattie of Chaska; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Meta Anna Drusch, 90, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Morgan, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, in Tucson.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Morgan, with burial at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Morgan. Visitation will be one hour prior to service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Meta Anna Drusch was born Jan. 14, 1913, to August and Augusta (Drusch) Drusch in Morgan Township, Redwood County.

Leslie Amsden, 79, of Comfrey, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Springfield Medical Center Hospital in Springfield.
Service is 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 17, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Comfrey, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, and 7:30-10 a.m., Wednesday, at Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey.
He is survived by son Michael Amsden of Crosslake; daughter Rose Haseleu of Springfield; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brother Fay Amsden of Springfield; sisters, Irene Hornick of Willmar, Donna Block of Westbrook, Bev Menton of Mankato, and Sandy Windschitl of Springfield.
Leslie Raymond Amsden, the son of Charles and Pearl (Giese) Amsden was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Comfrey.

Alice Madsen, 87, of Morgan, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Gil-Mor Manor, Morgan.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 17, at St. John Lutheran Churh in Morgan. Burial will be private.
Visitation is Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls.
She is survived by daughter, Linda Olson of Los Alamos, N.M.; one grandson; and brother Wallace Bergman of Wadena.
She was born Nov. 26, 1916, in Todd County, Minn., to William and Jennie (Johnson) Bergman.

Walter 'Bud' Anderson, 88, of Hanska, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Nora Unitarian-Univeralist Church near Hanska, with Rev. Sarah Oelberg officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm Veteran's Organizations will follow in the Mount Pisquah Cemetery, Hanska.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of Hanska is handling the arrangements.
Walter Charles "Bud" Anderson, the son of Charles and Jenny (Erickson) Anderson, was born June 15, 1915 in Star Prairie, Wisconsin, soon after moving with his family to North Dakota. When Bud was nine, his mother died during childbirth. He moved to Hanska with his brother, Percy in 1937. He farmed with the Clifford and Emil Larson families.
He met Norma Erickson in Hanska, and they were married in San Francisco on January 21, 1946. Bud was serving in the United States Navy at the time. He had joined the Navy in 1940 for a seven year term. He was at Pearl Habor on December 7, 1941. After the war ended, Bud and Norma spent part of their first year living in Hawaii where Bud completed his Navy career. They returned to Hanska where he started work at the Hanska Meat Market in 1947. A number of years later, Bud and Norma bought the market from Al Wiedeman in 1957. They worked very well as a team and ran a very successful business. Their specialty was Homemade Hanska Summer Sausage. They retired from the business in 1980. Aside from the business, Bud volunteered for many things in the community. He was Volunteer Fire Chief for about 25 years, Scoutmaster, active in the Businessman's Association and Lion's Club.
Bud's life was his business and he liked to travel and camp with his family. His wife died July 17, 2000. He became a resident of the Luther Memorial Home in June of this year. Bud was a member of Nora Unitarian-Universalist Church and Oscar O. Haugen American Legion Post #365.
Survivors include his daughter, Sally Herman and her husband Tom of Champlin; son, Charles Anderson and his wife Rolande of Henderson, NV; two grandchildren, Andy and Ben Herman; brother, Russell Anderson and his wife Gwen of Big Fort, MT; sister, Alice Daniels of Big Fort, MT; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Bud was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

Stella M. Bohannon, 85, of Redwood Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Wood Dale Nursing Homein Redwood Falls.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Middle Creek United Methodist Church in Flora Township, Renville County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Wednesdy at the church. Arrangements are by Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls.
She is survived by sons, Ardeen Reek of Redwood Falls, and Bennetr Reek of Independence, Mo.; a daughter, Jeanette Gens of Nokomis, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was born Feb. 10, 1918 in Okmulgee, Okla., to Dewitt and Theda (Slammer) Barber.

Roman Lamecker, 83, of 320 South Highland Avenue in New Ulm died Saturday, December 13, 2003 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 7:30-10:00 a.m. at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council and the Knights of Columbus will pray a combined rosary at 6:00 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. both Tuesday at the funeral home.
Roman is survived by his wife, Lucilla Lamecker a resident at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye; daughter, Kathy Lamecker of Neenah, Wisconsin; and a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Rudy Benson of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Stanley Lamecker and Leo Lamecker.
Roman was born on November 12, 1920 in Courtland Township, Nicollet County to Anton and Otillia (Reinhart) Lamecker. From 1938-1941, he served in the National Guard. On June 2, 1943, he married Lucilla Hoffman at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. Roman spent forty years of his life welding: six years at New Ulm Welding and Machine, twenty-six years, as owner and operator of Kral and Lamecker Welding, and nine years at 3M. He then retired in 1983. Roman spent much of his free time woodworking and fishing. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council, The St. Patrick's Council #1076 Knights of Columbus, and Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

Audrey D. Neubarth, 74 of Arlington, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 at her home. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington with a 7:45 p.m. prayer service, and one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church.
Audrey is survived by her children; Sandra Gruenhagen of Cologne, Dale Neubarth, Lyle Neubarth, and Bruce Neubarth, all of Arlington, and nine grandchildren.
Audrey was born Dec. 26, 1928in Arlington to Charles and Christine (Scheele) Jahr.

Lois Rosnau, 78, of Winthrop, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at the North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, as a result of injuries she sustained in an auto accident.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 20, at 10:30 a.m., at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop. Burial will be in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-8 a.m. Saturday at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Saturday.

Janet Steffl, age 61, of Clements, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at her home in Clements, surrounded by her loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan, with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, both at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Nelson-Martin Funeral Service of Morgan. Memorials preferred to "We Care, " St. Michael's School or the American Cancer Society.
Janet Margaret Steffl was born Dec. 12, 1942, in New Ulm, the daughter of Edward and Louise (Fischer) Schmitz. She grew up in Lafayette and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1960. Following her school, she worked as a telephone operator for New Ulm Telephone Co. On Oct. 26, 1963, she was united in marriage to Edwin L. Steffl at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church in Lafayette. They lived near Morgan from 1963 until December 1969, when they moved to a farm near Clements. She worked as a dietary aide, housekeeper, and recently, as a laundry aide at Sunwood Good Samaritan Center for 20 years until her present illness.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Clements. She belonged to Christian Mothers, Catholic Aid Association, and was an active volunteer for St. Michael's School in Morgan.
Her hobbies included sewing, creative writing and baking. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Janet collected Snow Babies, Coke-Cola memorabilia and farm toys, and she enjoyed bargain hunting. She also created the game Color Craze. Janet also was a volunteer for the We Care Program in Morgan.
Janet is survived by her husband of 40 years, Edwin of Clements; four children, Anthony Steffl and wife LeAnn of Lakeville, Christopher Steffl and wife Carol of New Ulm, Amy Nesburg and husband Timothy of Morton, and Denise Peterson and husband Timmy of Detroit Lakes; 11 grandchildren, Caitlyn, Holly, Ryan, Justin, Brandon, Brady, Mackenzie, Beau, Signey, Michaela and Zachariah; mother Louise (Fischer) Schmitz of New Ulm; two sisters, Marlys Huss and husband Roger of Kinnelon, N.J., and Deanna Paa and her husband Ken of New Ulm; and brother Ronald Schmitz and wife Bette of Spicer.
She was preceded in death by her father Edward Schmitz; and infant daughter, Christine.

Norman E. Bradtke, 91, formerly of Arlington, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home.
Services are 11:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 19, at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington. Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Fairfax.
Visitation is Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until services at the church.
He is survived by a daughter Louise Sandwick of Chaska; a son John Bradtke of Highland Lake, Ill; two granddaughters; sister Lorna Sievert of West Bend, Wis.
He was born April 30, 1912, in Fairfax to Rev. Immanuel and Frieda (Tappe) Albrecht.
Kolden Funeral Service of Arlington handled arrangements.

Paul D. Hess, 90, of Fairfax, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax, with burial in the Fort Ridgely Cemetery, in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County, at a later date.
Paul D. Hess was born on May 13, 1913, in Ipswich, S.D., to William and Francise (Otz) Hess.

Loraine "Sis" Meurer, 89, formerly of Nicollet, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m.m Saturday, Dec. 20, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. Friday at Landkamer-Johnson-Boman funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation resumes one hour before the funeral at the church.
Loraine is survived by her daughters, Judy Westermayer of Mankato, and Mary Kay Kluntz of Cleveland; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was born Loraine Margaret on June 10, 1914, to Raymond and Frances (Bertrand) in Sleepy Eye.

Lois Virginia (Peterson) Rosnau was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Winthrop, to John and Martha (Ericson) Peterson.

Douglas Webster, 68, of rural Winthrop, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington, as a result of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident near Gaylord.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 19, at the Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County, with burial in the church cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Winthrop Honor Guard and Lafayette American Legion Post.
Visitation will be 5 - 9 p.m. today at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Friday.
Douglas is survived by his wife Sally of rural Winthrop; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Eric Nelson of St. Paul, and Heidi and Tom Bramley of Burnsville; sons and daughter-in-law, Eric Webster of Lafayette, and David and Pam Webster of Konstancian, Poland; grandchildren, Lindsay, Jessica, Elias, Jack, Lydia, Laura, Samantha, Harrison, William, Emily, Owen, Samuel and Charles; sisters, Carolyn Webster of La Mirada, Calif., and Beatrice Roscoe of Atkin; brothers, Elroy Webster of New Sweden, and Robert Webster of Lafayette; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Paul on May 20, 1985.
Douglas was born Aug. 14, 1935, in New Ulm to Elroy C. and Laura (Lind) Webster. He attended school in St. Peter and was a 1953 graduate of St. Peter High School. He then attended University of Minnesota, St. Paul, School of Agriculture for one year. He served in the U.S. Signal Corp in Lirvorno, Italy, from April 1956 to September 1957.
Douglas was united in marriage to Sally A. Mueller on June 29, 1958, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gaylord. After marriage they farmed in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County. Douglas served as a director of Farm Credit Services, Lafayette, and Winthrop School Boards, Riverbend Cooperative Education Board, Bernadotte Township Board, Bernadotte Lutheran Church serving as Councilman. President of Churchmen, Choir and Cemetery Board, Winthrop American Legion Post 300, Winthrop VFW, Winthrop Honor Guard Unit, Lafayette Lions Club, Lafayette Shipping Association, Nicollet County Farmers Union and the Lafayette Boy Scout Troop 2.

Fred G. Winick, 90, of Sun City, Ariz., and formerly of Minneapolis, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, in Peoria, Ariz.
He is survived by wife Shirley M. Winick; daughters, Candice Marie of Seattle Wash., and Holly Kandra of Portland, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
He served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
A private memorial service will be held in Portland, Ore.
