Cresence Yatckoske
Cresence Yatckoske, age 94, of the Foley Nursing Center, Foley, MN, died May 16, 1999, at the Center.

Funeral services were held May 19 at Ronneby Road Christian Church, Ronneby, MN, with the Rev. Carl Reed officiating. Burial was in the Lone Pine Cemetery in Morrill, MN.

Cresence was born August 17, 1904, in Pierz, MN, to Joseph and Frances (Meyer) Dahmen. She married Orvin Yatckoske April 22, 1924, in Little Falls, MN. The couple had lived and farmed in Morrill Township since 1932. She had lived at the Foley Nursing Center since 1996. She was a member of the Ronneby Road Christian Church in Ronneby. She was loved by many and was a devoted Christian.

Survivors include her sons and daughters, Irene Ogg Wiens of Anoka, MN, Melvin and Marie of St. Paul, MN, Erland of Pierz, MN, Dolores and Chuck Chakmakian of Allentown, PA, Roland and Barbara of St. Louis Park, MN, and Orvin, Jr., and Mary Lou of Blaine, MN; sister and brother, Agnes Malloy of Dearborn, MI,
and Michael Dahmen of Pierz; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvin on January 30, 1978 and nine brothers and sisters.

Angeline Dembouski
Angeline M. Dembouski, age 93, a resident of St. Paul, MN, died May 15, 1999, at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 18 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN, with Father Roger Thoennes officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Angeline was born in Morrison County on May 30, 1905, to Frank and Antonia (Halicki) Froncak. In 1918 the family moved to Waite Park, MN, where her father worked at the railroad car shops. In 1924 she moved to St. Paul, and worked for a clothing manufacturer until her family moved back to the Harding area. After her father was injured, she helped on the farm. She married William J. Dembouski November 28, 1929, and they both worked the farm. William took up the carpenter trade, and in 1945 they bought a farm near Backus, MN. After the barn they built burned down, Bill went back to construction work in 1955, and they relocated to St. Paul. Angeline began working for Cohn-Feldman clothing manufacturing as a power machine operator. While she was employed, she was a shop steward for the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, and retired from there in 1977. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Altar & Rosary Society, and belonged to St. Pascal’s Parish from 1974 to the present.

Survivors include five sons, Andrew J. of Hackensack, MN, Eugene P. and wife Joan of Woodbury, MN, Richard D. of St. Paul, Raymond M. and wife Dawn of Mankato, MN, and Stanley T. and wife Sarah of LaGrange, IL; four daughters, Stella L. Czeczok and husband Joseph of Brainerd, MN., Virginia R. Tostenson-Davis and husband Roy, and Constance A. VanBlaricom and husband Charles, all of Backus and Carol T. Drury and husband Gerald of South St. Paul; one brother, Frank Froncak of Harding; four sisters, Sr. M. DePaul with the Order of St. Benedict of St. Cloud, MN, Julia Nalipinski of St. Paul, Leone Christ of Oconomowoc, WI, and Magdalen Mlot of Milwaukee, WI; 30 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; her daughter, Mary M. Ziolkowski; three grandchildren; two sisters, Stella Needham and Sr. M. Francene of the Order of St. Benedict and two infant brothers.

Lillian Benick, 92

Lillian V. (Jambor) Benick, a resident of Merrifield, died Sept. 15, 2010, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, at St. Francis Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Laflamme officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Lillian was born May 28, 1918, in St. Paul, to Phillip and Victoria (Ostrowski) Jambor. Lillian lived the past 57 years in Merrifield.

Lillian is survived by her two daughters, Betty Shriber (John) Scheff of Arizona and Rosemary (Norm) Hollings-worth of Little Falls; grandchildren, Karen (Roger), Kim (Jason), Jamie (Teresa), Janel (Jeff) and Jean (Rod); great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; and brother, Herman.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.

Louie Patnaude, 70

Louie M. Patnaude, a resident of rural Fort Ripley, died at his home on Sept. 22, 2010.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Sept. 25, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, with the Rev. Gerald Dalseth officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Louis “Louie” Moses Patnaude was born Dec. 22, 1939, in Ripley Township, Morrison County, to the late Moses and Mary Patnaude. He grew up on the family farm in Ripley Township. He attended country school and Little Falls Community High School. He entered the United States Navy March 30, 1957, and was discharged June 2, 1958. Following his military service, he worked in the Twin Cities and eventually moved back to the farm. He was united in marriage to Karina Przybilla June 29, 1965, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. The couple made their home in Pierz before moving to the family farm in 1984. Louie also worked at Larson Boats in Little Falls and drove truck for International Transport. He also had his auctioneer and pilot’s licenses. Louie enjoyed fishing, hunting, visiting, traveling, woodworking and crafts. Louie was a story teller and he loved to stretch the truth (a lot). He also had bragging rights to his new tractor and baler. Louie especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family and enjoyed his morning coffee time with the neighbors and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karina Patnaude of Fort Ripley; children, Patrick (Lisa) Patnaude of Fort Ripley and Kari Lynn (Kevin) Dembouski of Harding; grandchildren, Daisy and Ivy Dembouski of Harding and nieces and nephews.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Moses Salvio Patnaude, Jr. and brother, Gary Patnaude.

Carl I. Torkelson, 75

Carl I. Torkelson, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at his home in Onamia.

Carl was born Jan. 14, 1935, in Goteborg, Sweden, to the late Bertil and Greta (Karlsson) Torkelson. He married June O’Hotto in 1962, in Chicago. She passed away in 1968. Carl lived in various states throughout his life. He married Kathy DeColigny in 1977. They later divorced. He later moved to Onamia and worked at Grand Casino Mille Lacs until his retirement.

He is survived by a daughter, Tammi (Joe) O’Neil of Pierz; and a brother, Siad (Mary Ann) Torkelson of Mesquite, Nev.; nieces, Lisa Milton, Bourbannais, Ill., and Lori Mealing, North Augusta, S.C.; granddaughters, Sara (Justin) Luberts and Kaitlin O’Neil, both of Pierz; and great-grandchildren, Breann and Jack Luberts.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, June.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.

Marjorie Thomas, 68

Marjorie Thomas, a resident of St. Cloud, died Sept. 14, 2010.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, with the Reverend Scott Pogatchnik officiating. Burial was held Monday, at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.

Marjorie was born Sept. 16, 1941, in Foley, the daughter of George and Otillia (Marx) Timmers. She received her diploma from Foley High School. Marjorie married Martin Thomas Jan. 17, 1959, at St. Mary’s Cathedral. She was a member of St. Augustine’s Parish, St. Monica’s Mission group, American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Aid Association, and the Order of Foresters. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, time spent at Breezy Point, bingo, cards, trips to the casino, travelling, and being an independent Amway Distributor. She was employed by Holes Webway for 11 years, and retired from Sears after 15 years. She lived life to the fullest, was known for her optimism, wonderful sense of humor and her loving, generous heart.

Survivors include: her husband, Martin; children, Jeffrey (Rhonda) of Lastrup, Scott (Terri) of Maple Grove, Barbara (Jim) Warner of Buffalo, Laura (Gary) Hinnenkamp of Sauk Centre; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Cordella (Tom) Latterell of Foley; and many nieces, nephews, and many dear close friends. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, sister Evelyn Miranowski, infant sister Mary Jane, brother Herbert, and infant grandson Benjamin Warner.

Elmer Becker, 76

Elmer Becker, a resident of Garrison, formerly of Minneapolis, died Sept. 8, 2010, at The Heritage House in Pequot Lakes, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren, after losing his battle with lung cancer.

Funeral services were held Monday, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Onamia. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Eva Frank, 91

Eva Frank, a resident of Little Falls, formerly of Sobieski, passed away Sept. 13, 2010, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, with Father Leo Moenkedick officiating. Burial was in the St. Stanislaus Parish Cemetery in Sobieski.

Eva was born Dec. 24, 1918, in Stark County, Schefield, N.D. to the late Anton and Isabella (Berger) Schoch. She was united in marriage to John Frank Nov. 6, 1940, at St. Pius Catholic Church in Schefield, N.D. In 1947, they moved to a 120 acre dairy farm in Sobieski. Eva was a homemaker, raising eight children. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Choir and St. Anne’s Mission Group. Eva loved to read and quilt. She also enjoyed her flower gardens, playing cards, Scrabble and camping.

Eva is survived by sons and daughters, Bernard (Suzanne) Frank, Dorothy Frank and Lydia (Dennis) Zwilling, all of St. Cloud, Edana (Lawrence) Kringen, of Onalaska, Wis., Ken (Susan) Frank of Little Falls, Loretta Frank of Minneapolis, Marian (Niel) Braun of Wahpeton, N.D., and Michael (Louise) Frank of Flensburg; two siblings, Rose Frank and Mathilda Binstock, both of Dickinson, N.D.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, John Frank in 2008; parents; brothers, Valentine, Jerome and twin brother Adam; sisters, Katherine, Mary (Sister M. Sponsa and later known as Sr. Mary S.S.N.D.), Wilhelmina and Veronica.

Pallbearers were Aaron Frank, Andy Frank, Adam Frank, John Kringen, Josh Zwilling and Austin Barrett.
