MITCHELL

Jesse Waneta Mitchell, 60, Lebanon, formerly of  Jefferson City, died April 27, 2000, at Christian Healthcare South, Lebanon.

She was born June 27, 1939, near Lenox, a daughter of Delbert "Shorty" and Augusta Harris Johns. Her mother survives in Rolla. She was married Aug. 17, 1963, in Rolla, to Robert F. Mitchell, who survives at the home.

A homemaker, she was a member of First Christian Church, Lebanon.

Other survivors include: one son, Keith Mitchell, Pana, Ill.; two brothers, Gary Ronald Johns, Columbia, and Larry Roger Johns, Elko, Nev.; three sisters, Bessie Almeta Warren, Fenton, Mary Lue Ingram, Rolla, and Shari Loner, Coburn, Pa.; and one grandson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holman-Howe Funeral Homes, Lebanon. Larry Snow, the Rev. Tom Lowrance and the Rev. Freddie Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to Christian Healthcare Hospice.

ROLLINS

Norene Rollins, 82, Dixon, died April 27, 2000, in Maries Manor Health Care Center, Vienna.

She was born March 18, 1918, in Maries County, a daughter of Tom and Lillie Branson Wiles. She was married April 22, 1939, in Vienna, to Oland Rollins, who survives at the home.

A member of Smyrna Church of Christ, she was a homemaker. She worked in the hat factory at Vienna for 15 years .

Other survivors include: two sons, Gilbert Rollins and Randy Rollins, both of Dixon; one daughter, Doris Cohlmia, Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Georgia Bullock, Dixon, and Jessie Mae Luebbert, St. James; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. Charles Pitts will officiate. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery, Dixon.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday.

BEMIS

Nettie Mae Bemis, 79, Rocky Mount, died April 28, 2000, at Eldon Health Care.

She was born Dec. 9, 1920, in Alluwe, Okla., a daughter of Charles and Louise Fink Bratcher. She was married July 4, 1938, in Miami, Okla., to Thurman R. "Tex" Bemis, who died in 1987.

She owned and operated Casino Boat Dock and Ozark Water Ski Thrill Show at Lake Ozark.

Survivors include: one daughter, Barbara Brooks, Rocky Mount; three sisters, Mary Baxter, Kansas City, Lillian Fieldse, Rialto, Calif., and June Sears, Bartlesville, Okla.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

One son, Bobby Bemis, and one grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Jay Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday.

BRITTON

Flossie M. Britton, 88, Macks Creek, died April 27, 2000, at the Windsor Estate Nursing Home, Camdenton.

She was born Feb. 27, 1912, in Macks Creek, a daughter of William "Volly" and Bertha Eidson Cyrus. She was married to John Britton, who died July 8, 1958.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Macks Creek, and owned and operated several restaurants in the area.

Survivors include: one brother, Arley Cyrus, Macks Creek; three sisters, Mary Lee Wheeler, Marionville, Eathel Gardner, Macks Creek, and Betty McCall, Elkland; five grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, Junior Cyirus Britton, one daughter, Adra Webster, and one grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dinzel Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Macks Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. today at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek.

BROWN

Mary Young Moore Brown, 100, Versailles, died April 27, 2000, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

She was born March 10, 1900, in Versailles, a daughter of Joseph D. and Belle Salmon Moore. She was married June 17, 1923, to Martin Brown, who died in 1979.

A graduate of Stephens College, Columbia, she taught one year at Versailles High School. She was a member of Versailles United Methodist Church, Morgan County Historical Society, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 410, Versailles, and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Gary DeWitt will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

HAGEWOOD

Emma C. Kay Hagewood, 83, Versailles, died April 27, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 13, 1916, in Philadelphia, Pa., a daughter of Ferdnand G. and Bertha Violet Wenzell Lentz. She was married Oct. 5, 1940, in Reno, Nev., to Sam R. Hagewood, who died May 3, 1997.

A telephone switchboard operator, she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 410, both in Versailles.

Survivors include cousins.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Charles Kellim will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Baptist Church.

FOWLER

Cornelia (Connie) Fowler, 50, Olathe, Kan., died April 28, 2000, at her home.

She was born June 11, 1949, in Trenton, a daughter of Theodora Manning Alexander and H. Maurice Alexander, who survives in  Jefferson City.

Other survivors include: stepmother Virginia Alexander,  Jefferson City; one son, Ty James Fowler, of the home; one daughter, Michelle Fowler, of the home; one sister, Susan Herron, Ozawkie, Kan.; one step-brother, David Drury, Gardner, Kan.; one step-sister, Cindy Buckman, Livermore, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Debbie Drury, Gardner, Kan.

Private services were held April 29, 2000. Arrangements were under Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe, Kan.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Olathe, or the charity of your choice.

GILLIAM

Jack D. Gilliam, 54,  Jefferson City, died April 29, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 29, 1946, in Miller County, a son of Ray and Betty Duncan Gilliam. His parents survive in Iberia. He was married March 28, 1970, in Eldon, to Janice Payne, who survives at the home.

A graduate of the School of the Osage and an Army Reserves veteran, he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Lincoln University, was a general contractor in  Jefferson City, and a member of Dix Road Church of Christ,  Jefferson City.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Amie Wheeler,  Jefferson City, and Cassie Gilliam, of the home; and his maternal grandmother, Venice Duncan, Iberia.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville. Brent Newton will officiate. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to Fairhaven Children's Home.

GILLISPIE

Chester Gillispie, 88, Vienna, died April 29, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born July 25, 1911, a son of Fred and Cora Curtis Gillispie. He was married Oct. 23, 1954, in St. Louis, to Helen Hochstatter, who survives at the home.

A member of Westview Baptist Church,  Jefferson City, he attended Little Flock Baptist Church, Vienna, as his health began to fail. He worked as a freight checker with Acme Fast Freight, St. Louis, and delivered phone books for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Karen Cizek, Florissant, and Sandy Lambright, Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Blanche DeBruler, Excelsior Springs; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, Vienna. Brother Jim Hoffman, St. Louis, will officiate. Burial will be in Vienna Public Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today and from 9-11 a.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the Vienna Public Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or the Little Flock Baptist Church.

HOWELL

Mary V. Howell, 74, California, died April 28, 2000, in California.

She was born Dec. 13, 1925, in Blytheville, Ark., a daughter of Obie D. and Inez Hubbard Holleman. She was married, May 24, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., to Reuben "Rudy" Howell, who died April 4, 1974.

She was a homemaker, of the Pentecostal faith and attended school in Blytheville, Ark.

Survivors include: one brother, Billy Holleman, California; one aunt, Alice Walker, California; and several cousins.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

RUDDER

John Cornelius Rudder, 79,  Jefferson City, died April 28, 2000, at his home.

He was born March 25, 1921, in Sedalia, a son of Samuel M. and Eulalie Nadine Roach Rudder. He was married Sept. 4, 1943, in Panama City, Fla., to Lottie M. Wing, who died Sept. 8, 1991.

Attending Immaculate Conception School and graduating from  Jefferson City High School, he received a degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he worked for the Federal Highway Administration,  Jefferson City, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he served as lector, communion minister and on the Liturgy Committee. He was a charter member and past president of the  Jefferson City Speed Skating Club, a past member of the Elks Lodge, and a member of the  Jefferson City Country Club. He was also a volunteer at the Samaritan Center.

Survivors include: John C. Rudder Jr., Houston, Texas , David M. Rudder, Des Peres, Harry G. Rudder,  Jefferson City, Ralph M. Rudder, California, Paul W. Rudder, Centertown, and Mark T. Rudder, University City; one daughter, Lottie F. Bushmann, Columbia; one brother, Samuel Rudder, Knoxville, Tenn.; and 17 grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Greg Higley will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors,  Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 6 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Samaritan Center or the Helias Foundation.

SCOTT

William Ernest (Billy) Scott, 64, Versailles, died April 28, 2000, at Veterans Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
