BRUCE
Dorothy Mae "Dot" Bruce, 61, California, died March 13, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Jan. 10, 1940, in Centertown, a daughter of John H. and Gertrude Hodler Leonard. Her mother survives in California. She was married Sept. 13, 1958, in California, to Robert H. Bruce, who survives at the home.
She was a waitress at Nic Nac Cafe and a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, California. A 1957 graduate of California High School, she volunteered at Medical Center of Independence at St. Marks Catholic Church in Independence.
Other survivors include: four sons, Robert Wayne Bruce, Jefferson City, Mark A. Bruce, Lathrop, Kent E. Bruce, California, and Michael W. Bruce, Independence; two brothers, Dennis Leonard, Highland, Mich., and John D. Leonard, California; four sisters, Barbara Glenn, California, Linda McKee and Beverly Cain, both of Centertown, and Rita Pervical, Russellville; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Annunciation Catholic Church. Msgr. Francis Gillgannon will officiate. Burial will be in Annunciation Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

BOUWHUIS
Werner Josef Bouwhuis, 70, Rocky Mount, died March 11, 2001, at Fort Walton Beach Hospital, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
He was born Sept. 22, 1930, in Rheine, Germany, a son of Heinrich and Anna Evers Bouwhuis. He was married to Bernhardine Groppe, who survives.
Other survivors include: one son, Wolfgang Bouwhuis, Crestwood; two sisters, Irmgard Vogel, Fenton, and Gerda Tollner, Bielefeld, Germany; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home - Maplewood Chapel, St. Louis. Gravesides services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Lake Memorial Cemetery, Osage Beach.
Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Thursday.
CHACE
A memorial service will be held March 17, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. in the United Methodist Church, Pilger, Neb., for James R. Chace, who has been missing since Feb. 19, 2001, when he left in his plane from Rapid City, S.D. The plane never arrived at its destination in Norfolk, Neb.
He was born March 3, 1950. His father, Jack Chace, lives in Pilger. His mother, Phyllis Chace, lives in Norfolk, Neb.
He was a realtor and auctioneer.
Authorities are continuing to search for the plane, which also had two passengers, Mona Griffith and her daughter, Lindsay Griffith.
Chace has one son, Jeffrey Chace, Papillion, Neb., and two sisters, Jac E. Chace-Wittstruck, Jefferson City, and Cindy Goeller, Pilger.

DUNAVANT
Bobby Lee Dunavant, 68, Fulton, died March 12, 2001, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
He was born Aug. 12, 1932, in Fulton, a son of William Sr. and Gladys Grimm Dunavant. He was married July 2, 1951, in Fulton, to Bonnie Hall, who survives at the home.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was employed by the city of Fulton as assistant supervisor of the power plant for more than 32 years, retiring in 1995. In 1970, he owned and operated a roofing and painting business. After he retired he operated a small engine repair shop.
He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and was in the choir. He also served as deacon, song leader and youth leader at Hallsville Church of God Holiness.
Other survivors include: four daughters, Brenda Bulson, New Bloomfield, and Kathy Crowson, Lisa Wilson and Darla Durham, all of Fulton; one brother, Ralph Dunavant, Fulton; two sisters, Faye Zillig and Anna Lee Newman, both of Fulton; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Debo Funeral Home. Pastor Mike Crowson will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

PROCK
Harriet E. Prock, 87, Eugene, died March 13, 2001, in Eldon.
She was born Jan. 31, 1914, in Russellville, Ky., a daughter of Sanford and Jemima Strong Hendley. She was married in March 1941 in Houston, Mo., to Ted R. Prock, who survives in Eugene.
She worked for the Department of Agriculture in the Miller and Cole county offices before retiring. She was a member of the Nazarene Church of Eldon, where she taught Sunday school.
She lived in Eugene the past 25 years.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Barbara Lupardus, Eugene; one son, Roger Prock, Lee's Summit; two brothers, Ezra Hendley, Vicksburg, Mich., and Dees Hendley, Pontiac, Mich.; four sisters, Martha Burdett, Hemet, Calif., Mary Miner, Rogers, Ark., Esther Reed, Warsaw, and Wilma Ingram, Portsmouth, Va.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Nazarene Church of Eldon. Pastor Jerry Frye will officiate. Burial will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
Memorials are suggested to Nazarene Church of Eldon.
THOMAS
Lula Ida Thomas, 89, Hartsburg, died March 13, 2001, at Ashland Healthcare, Ashland.
She was born May 12, 1911, in Tripplet, a daughter of John and Myrtle Wilson Wohlgemuth. She was married Dec. 31, 1928, in Linn, to Oscar Thomas, who died Nov. 15, 1992.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: one son, Howard Thomas, Tebbetts; one daughter, Juanita Bennett, Hartsburg; one brother, Herbert Wohlgemuth, Hale; two sisters, Wilma Wohlgemuth, Gladstone, and Melva Porie, Bosworth; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
One son, Clyde Wayne Thomas, one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. Wallace Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Freidens Cemetery, Hartsburg.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.

WILSON
Donald M. Wilson, Col., USAF, Ret., 83, Jefferson City, died March 13, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born May 9, 1917, in Reinbeck, Iowa, a son of Henry and Mary Innes Wilson. He was married April 13, 1941, in Endicott, N.Y., to Dorothy Herbaugh, who died Jan. 7, 1985. He was married Aug. 17, 1985, to Jo Fisher, who survives at the home.
A graduate of high school in Reinbeck, he had been a resident of the Jefferson City area for the past 47 years. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and served in the Air Corps and Air Force from 1942 until his retirement as a colonel in 1969. He was assistant director of selective service for the State of Missouri for 15 years.
A former Boy Scout leader, he was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was on the board of directors of Capital Savings and Loan Company and was a member and past president of the Jefferson City Country Club.
Other survivors include: two sons, Richard Wilson, state of California, and Robert Wilson, Jefferson City; one daughter, Jane Weber, Jefferson City; two stepsons, Bud Fisher, Jefferson City, and Bruce Fisher, Atlanta, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Bobby Jo Coleman, Santa Fe, N.M.; one brother, Homer Wilson, Merced, Calif.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nine step grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. L. Kyle Hern will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the oncology unit at St. Marys Health Center.
JETT
Terry Lyndon Jett, 63, Russellville, died March 13, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Belle, a son of Bryce E. and Volley W. Keeney Jett.
A graduate of Belle High School, he attended Southwest Baptist College and Lincoln University. He earned a bachelor's degree in education and taught in New Bloomfield, Fulton and California. He also taught at the Kirchner State School for the Handicapped.
He worked for the Department of Corrections in the division of training, and studied criminal justice. He was also employed for several years with the Department of Revenue, the last five years in the mail room.
He was a 32nd degree Mason in the New Bloomfield Masonic Lodge AF & AM 60; a member of the Columbia Valley of Scottish Rite; a Shriner of Moolah Shrine Center, St. Louis; and a member of Capital Shrine Club of Jefferson City, where he performed as a clown.
He served on the Russellville Engine Show Committee, was a founder of the Cemetery Restoration Committee and was a member of the Buffalo Club of Olean. He volunteered with Special Olympics. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Jefferson City, the Capital City Square Dance Club and Pilot Knob Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Nathan C. Jett, New Bloomfield; one daughter, Christine M. Pearson, St. Louis; his fiancee, Arlene Sauer, Russellville; two brothers, Thomas P. Jett, Russellville, and Macey G. Jett, Holts Summit; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville. The Rev. Dale Norfolk will officiate. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children; Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri; or the American Cancer Society.
DESCHER
Alma Mary Descher, 84, Jefferson City, died March 12, 2001, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged.
She was born April 28, 1916, in O'Keene, Okla., a daughter of Herman and Anna Wiegers Descher.
She attended St. Peter Catholic School in Jefferson City and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She worked as a sewing machine operator with the former Tweedie Shoe Factory.
Survivors include four cousins, Rose Sheppers, St. Louis, Betty Schanzmeyer, Virginia Horstdaniel and Marcie Redel, all of Westphalia.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Home for the Aged. Msgr. Charles H. Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Home for the Aged.
Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church; or to St. Joseph Home for the Aged.
