VAUGHT
Herbert Dean Vaught, 65, Roach, died Feb. 2, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Aug. 24, 1936, in Pueblo, Colo., a son of Charles R. and Doris Dixon Vaught. He was married Oct. 4, 1980, in Dixon, to Elizabeth A. McDonald Moeckli, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, he was a Navy veteran. He worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections at the Algoa Correctional Center from 1966 until his retirement as a captain in 1995.
He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church, Dixon.
Other survivors include: four sons, Tim Vaught, Adam, Wis., and James Moeckli, Ronnie Moeckli, and Dan Moeckli, all of Jefferson City; four daughters, Lorraine Barfield, Newellton, La., Valerie Crossland, Richland, and Betty Moeckli Taggart and Debbie Moeckli Gibler, both of Jefferson City; one sister, Vivian Jones, Iberia; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
One son, Herbert Vaught, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Donald Maples will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
LaMONTAGNE
Robert N. LaMontagne, 74, California, died Feb. 2, 2002, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.
He was born Feb. 26, 1927 in Worcester, Mass., a son of Emerick and Alice Chouinard LaMontagne. He was married Jan. 18, 1975, in Honolulu, to Nesta Lee Morales Kennedy, who survives at the home.
He worked in pest control for more than 18 years and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Catholic. He had lived in Greenville, N.H., and Honolulu.
Other survivors include: one son, Emerick LaMontagne, Honolulu; one daughter, Claudette LaMontagne, Dallas, Texas ; one stepson, Kerry Lynn Kennedy, Tokyo, Japan; and one sister, Claudette DeBari, Hyattsville, Md.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. The Rev. Roy Morales will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

BROOKS
Derwood "Tommy" Brooks, 83, Holts Summit, died Feb. 3, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 22, 1918, in New Bloomfield, a son of J.W. and Mollie Trammell Brooks. He was married April 23, 1938, to Lela Fern Vaughn, who preceded him in death.
He had lived in New Bloomfield and attended New Bloomfield schools. He was a lifelong cattleman and farmer. He was a member of Eagles 2693, Jefferson City, and Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Reva Jo Ferguson, Holts Summit, Donna Sue Holzhauser, Tebbetts, and Marilyn Kay Francis, Osage Beach; one brother, Carl Brooks, Steedman; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit. Burial will be in Dry Fork Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund or Dry Fork Cemetery.
FAHERTY
Edmund J. Faherty, 90, Eldon, died Feb. 3, 2002, in Eldon.
He was born March 29, 1911, in Tipton, a son of Oscar and Rose Sommerhauser Faherty. He was married Oct. 19, 1933, in Jefferson City, to Louise Sanning, who survives at the home.
An Army veteran of World War II, he had life memberships in the Eldon VFW Post 2442 and Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eldon. He owned Motor Inn Auto Service, Amarillo, Texas , and was retired from Sanning Enterprises as a maintenance employee.
He was involved with 4-H and Catholic Youth. He was a representative for the National Farmers Organization; president of Osage River Flood Control Association; and chairman of County Extension Office.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Frank F. Faherty, Kent, Wash., and J.O. Faherty, Lubbock, Texas ; and one sister, Stella Kohrn, Independence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. James J. O'Sullivan will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

GOULIAS
John N. Goulias, 77, Columbia, formerly of Jefferson City, died Feb. 1, 2002, in Columbia.
He was born March 12, 1925, in St. Louis, a son of Nick J. and Anna Dimana Gitcho Goulias. He was married May 26, 1975, in Branson, to Frances Bickell, who survives.
He received his bachelor, masters and doctorate degrees in chemical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. In 1957 he received his M.E.A. in engineering administration. He worked for Shell Oil Company in Wood River Ill. from 1947-1950 and 1952-1953 as petroleum refinery technologist. He worked for Rocketdyne Division of North American Aviation, Field Propulsion Laboratory from 1957-1958, in Canoga Park, Calif. From 1961-1962, he was a military operations research analyst with the Center for Naval Analyses. He worked in St. Louis in small business as consultant and stockholder, in research and development of gaseous absorption devices for 12 years. He worked from 1972-1974 for Missouri Air Conservation Commission in Jefferson City as air pollution control engineer. He worked for Illinois Institute for Environmental Quality in Chicago as an environmental scientist beginning in 1974.
He was a registered professional engineer in the state of Missouri for 20 years, was a member of Air Pollution Control Association, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: three stepsons, James A. Rothwell, St. Louis, Edward F. Rothwell, Swarthmore, Pa., and Don Hampton Rothwell, Columbia; one stepdaughter, Barbara F. Davis, Columbia; 13 step grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia. Pastor Jay Self will officiate.

HICKS
Charles Albert Hicks, 80, Jefferson City, died Feb. 4, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Oct. 7, 1921, in Roanoke, Va., a son of Leonard and Molly Saul Hicks. He was married Dec. 4, 1948, in Newton, N.C., to Martha J. Setzer, who survives at the home.
He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Va., with a degree in engineering. A resident of the Jefferson City area since 1953, he worked as an engineer for the Missouri Highway Department for 33 years until his retirement in 1982 He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Leonard D. Hicks, Jefferson City, one daughter, Susan Hicks Koenen, Gypsum, Colo. and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Russell D. Lytle will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church.
LAZZERINI
Angel Lazzerini, 40, Green Valley, Calif., died Feb. 4, 2002, at her home.
She was born Oct. 8, 196l, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Loraine Rippeto. She was married to Tony Lazzerini, who survives.
She moved to California in 1994 and worked as director of sales for the Fairfield Holiday Inn.
Survivors include: two sons, Justin Glenn Gonder, Chico, Calif, and Andrew Michael Gonder, Jefferson City; one brother, Gerald L. Houseman, Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Joyce Angelbeck, Jefferson City, and Barbara L. Stude, Holts Summit.
Services will be Thursday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fairfield, Calif. The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, Fairfield.

ROBINETT
Hazel Lou Robinett, 81, Brumley, died Feb. 4, 2002, at Miller County Care Center, Tuscumbia.
She was born July 23, 1920, in Bentown, a daughter of James C. and Ollie Elizabeth Shelton Witt. She was married July 1, 1944, in Tuscumbia, to Sidney Atha Robinett, who died Dec. 27, 1979.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Rodden Church of Christ in Brumley.
Survivors include: two sons, Lester Robinett and Chester Robinett, both of Brumley; one daughter, Dorcus Louise Rodden, Brumley; one brother, Clay Witt, Montreal; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
An infant daughter, Donna Lou Robinett, died April 13, 1948.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Gene Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Robinett Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.

STIEFERMANN
Sophia Marie Stiefermann, 92, Westphalia, died Feb. 5, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Sept. 21, 1909, in Westphalia, a daughter of Ferdinand and Gertrude Hoer Holtermann. She was married April 7, 1937, in Westphalia, to Ernest Leo Stiefermann, who died July 29, 1994.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, and the Ladies Sodality.
Survivors include: two daughters, Ann G. Bexten, Westphalia, and Dolores A. Andra, Atchison, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
One infant daughter, Viola Stiefermann, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia. The Rev. Robert A. Kurwicki will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
