SCHLUETER

Alice Grace Schlueter, 75,  Jefferson City, died March 20, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born May 27, 1926, in St. Louis, a daughter of Michael B. and Josephine M. O'Donnell Bardol. She was married Jan. 17, 1948, in St. Louis, to Elmer John Schlueter, who survives at the home.

She was employed in the auditor's office at the Missouri Pacific Railroad in St. Louis. Later, she was a clerk with the Missouri Division of Employment Security from 1972-1976. She was a homemaker.

She was a 1943 graduate of Normandy High School, St. Louis. She was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral; St. Joseph Ladies Association; Perpetual Adoration; X-Club; Central Bank Classic Club; St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary; Antique Club; and several bridge clubs. She also was a Girl Scout leader.

Other survivors include: two sons, James J. Schlueter,  Jefferson City, and Donald E. Schlueter, Springfield; two daughters, Dr. Janis S. Beacham, Olathe, Kan., and Barbara A. Bleazard, Wildwood; one sister, Jane Walsh, St. Louis; one brother, Michael Bardol, St. Louis; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

One infant son, Robert Michael Schlueter, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Frederick J. Elskamp will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Samaritan Center, 1310 E. McCarty St.,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65101; or to Hospice of  Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri, 601 E. High St.,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.

HANLEN

Vincent J. "Vince" Hanlen, 86, Camdenton, died March 20, 2002, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born March 18, 1916, in Leslie, a son of Jeremiah and Anna Rohan Hanlen. He was married Jan. 30, 1936, in Sullivan, to Margaret Schmidt, who survives at the home.

He graduated from Sullivan High School. He worked for the W.H. Powell Lumber Company in St. James until 1949, when he moved to Camdenton and managed the E.B. O'Brien Lumber Company. He started Square Deal Lumber Company, Camdenton. In 1967, he went to work for the Missouri State Park System in  Jefferson City and Lebanon, retiring in 1980. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton. He served as president of the Camdenton Chamber of Commerce in 1954.

Other survivors include two sisters, Helen Hanlen and Frances Hanlen, both of Sullivan, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

One son, Patrick Hanlen, and one daughter, Benita Shannon, preceded him in death.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.

MURPHY

James E. Murphy, 73, Centertown, died March 21, 2002, at his home.

He was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Moniteau County, a son of Roy F. and Della Bolin Murphy. He was married Aug. 5, 1951, in Centertown, to Billye Sue Wagner, who survives at the home.

A 1946 graduate of Russellville High School, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Cooks' Paint and Varnish in  Jefferson City for several years. He owned and operated Jim's MFA in Russellville during the early 1960s. He was business office manager for Charles E. Still Hospital for 29 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a member and deacon at Centertown Baptist Church and a member of American Legion Post 531, Centertown.

Other survivors include: two sons, Michael James Murphy and Patrick D. Murphy, both of  Jefferson City; one brother, Robert Murphy, Russellville; one sister, Nadine Hirschvogel, Russellville; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Centertown Baptist Church. The Rev. John Gorham and the Rev. Dave Scudder will officiate. Burial will be in Centertown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.

Memorials are suggested to Centertown Baptist Church or the Centertown Cemetery Association.

PRATER

Gene Prater, 68, Crocker, died March 20, 2002, at his home.

He was born Jan. 25, 1934, in Richland, a son of Homer and Myrtle Laws Prater. He was married May 19, 1956, in Miami, Okla., to Patricia Elis Johnson, who survives in Crocker.

He worked for Gateway Salvage Yard in St. Robert for 25 years.

Survivors include: three sons, James Davis, Crocker, Gary Davis, Dixon, and Michael Solonon, state of Alaska; three daughters, Sandra Richter, Marshfield, Janetta Laycox, Maryville, and Norma Helton, Crocker; one sister, Colleen Clark, St. Louis; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

One infant son, Cecil Prater, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Long Funeral Home, Crocker. Larry Lawrence Coffee will officiate. Burial will be in Crocker Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from 1-2 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

BOOKER

Lawrence T. "Sonny" Booker, 50, Osage Beach, died March 21, 2002, at St. John's Regional Health Center.

He was born July 30, 1951, in Maples, a son of Lawrence and Grace Creech Booker. His mother survives in Newburg. He was married Oct. 25, 1975, in Anutt, to Mayme York, who survives in Osage Beach.

He worked as a truck driver for Waste Corporation of America.

Survivors include: one daughter, April Lynn Booker, Osage Beach; four brothers, LeRoy Carl, Steelville, Charles E. Booker, Rogersville, Martin D. Booker, Osage Beach, and Joe Booker, Edgar Springs; two sisters, Beverly Martin, Park Hills, and Mary Jean Durnbaugh, Strafford.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hedges Funeral Home in Osage Beach. The Rev. Mike Gorman will officiate. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Garden Cemetery in Osage Beach.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

OTT

Colleen B. Ott, 73, St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of  Jefferson City, died March 20, 2002, at Bayfront Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 13, 1928, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Manuel and Billie Balhorn.

She attended Central Methodist College in Fayette. She moved from  Jefferson City to Florida in 1959. She owned and operated the Rainbow Lodge Motel in St. Petersburg for 25 years. She was a Cub Scout den leader, a charter member of Chapter CB-PEO in St. Petersburg and was a volunteer at Bayfront Medical Center.

Survivors include two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The body will be cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of National Cremation Society in St. Petersburg.

WARNOL

William "Chess" Warnol, 63, Dixon, died March 22, 2002, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.

He was born July 10, 1938, in Dixon, a son of William T. and Thelma Wagoner Warnol. His mother survives in Dixon.

He worked at Brown Shoe Company in Dixon and he was also a brick-layer.

Survivors include; one son, William Roger Warnol, state of Florida; two brothers, Donald Warnol and Carl Warnol, both of Dixon; five sisters, Neoma Sommer, Barbara Warnol, Carolyn Evans, and Relora Wills, all of Dixon, and Kathryn Mitchell, Lecoma.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Long-Gilbert Funeral Home in Dixon. Pastor Bill Reese will officiate. Burial will be in Warnol Cemetery in Dixon.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the family of William "Chess" Warnol.

PRITCHARD

Hugh F. Pritchard, 84, Macon, died March 22, 2002, at Loch Haven Nursing Home, Macon.

He was born Sept. 29, 1917, in Oregon County, a son of John A. and Laura B. Clayton Pritchard. He was married Feb. 14, 1964, in Springfield, to Cleva Hardister Rowe, who survives at the home.

He graduated from Alton High school, Alton. An Army veteran of World War II, he worked at the Department of Conservation,  Jefferson City, as a supervisor. He worked with the Conservation Commission throughout several southern Missouri counties for 35 years.

He was a member of Church of Christ in Willow Springs.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Judy Pritchard, Pawhuska, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Pat Turner, Fairfield, Texas , and Bonnie Hall, Macon; one stepson, Fred Rowe, Macon; one brother, Dr. Murray Pritchard, West Plains; three grandchildren and nine step grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at James River Assembly of God Church, near Ozark. The Rev. Buddy Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Monday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hutton and McElwain Funeral Home, Macon.

SCHRIEBER

Gregory Randall Schrieber, 22, formerly of  Jefferson City, died March 19, 2002, in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, in a swimming accident during his spring break.

He was born Oct. 13, 1979, in Framingham, Mass., the son of Randy and Joanne Mozer Schrieber, who both survive in Cary, N.C.

He lived in  Jefferson City from 1980 until 1984 and from 1988 until his graduation with honors from  Jefferson City High School in June 1998.

While in  Jefferson City, he attended West Elementary School,  Jefferson Junior High School and Simonsen Ninth Grade Center.

In high school, he was active in band, debate, model United Nations, tennis, Spanish Club and the National Honor Society. He attended the Missouri Scholars Academy in 1996 and was a National Merit semifinalist.

He attended Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa, on a trustee's scholarship, majoring in political science. He studied in Costa Rica for the fall semester of 2001 and planned to graduate in May with honors.

He had been accepted into the Green Corps Environmental Leadership Training Program.

He served as an intern for an Iowa congressman in Washington during the summer of 1999. He was active in Iowa politics and national politics, serving the presidential campaign of U.S. Sen. Bill Bradley.

He was active in environmental causes and worked for Greenpeace; he represented the organization at the Global Climate Change Conference in the Hague, Netherlands, in 2000.

Other survivors include: two sisters, Kristen Schrieber and Elizabeth Schrieber, both of Cary, N.C.; one brother, Mark Schrieber, Cary, N.C.; one paternal grandmother, Mildred Schrieber, Coleridge, Neb.; and maternal grandparents, Robert and Patricia Mozer, Manhasset, New York.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Cathedral. The Rev. David Buescher will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to Greenpeace USA, 702 H. Street, NW, Suite 300, Washington , D.C., 20001.

Arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
