THOMPSON

Margaret Olive Thompson, 80, Warsaw, formerly of  Jefferson City, died April 6, 2002, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton.

She was born April 5, 1922, in Marshall, a daughter of Clay C. and Vergie M. Ballew Fizer. She was married to Lee C. Thompson, who preceded her in death.

She graduated from Marshall High School. She was a homemaker and also worked at Crown Drug Store in  Jefferson City and Sedalia. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Warsaw. She was a member of VFW Post 1003 Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693 Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, David Province, Gainesville, Texas ; one brother, Buddy R. Fizer, Warsaw; and one step grandchild.

Private graveside services will be held in Lamine Cemetery, Lamine.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.

SLANKER

George Daniel "Danny" Slanker Jr., 60,  Jefferson City, died April 7, 2002, in Cripple Creek, Colo.

He was born July 9, 1941, in  Jefferson City, a son of George D. Sr. and Maxine D. Todd Slanker. His parents survive in  Jefferson City. He was married Dec. 18, 1971, in Columbia, to Mary Lois Berendzen, who survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of  Jefferson City, he was a 1959 graduate of  Jefferson City High School. He attended Southwest Missouri State University and served in the Missouri Army National Guard. He owned and operated S. & O. Land Development Company.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Ann Devere Slanker, Kansas City, and Susan Todd Slanker, of the home; one brother, Todd Slanker, Rocky Mount; and one sister, Suzanne Garlich, Sedalia.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Freeman Mortuary. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Parkinson's Foundation.

NIEMAN

Otto F. Nieman Jr., 79, formerly of  Jefferson City, died April 1, 2002, in Dallas, Texas .

He was born Sept. 30, 1922, in  Jefferson City, a son of Otto and Hazel McCaughey Nieman.

A 1940 graduate of  Jefferson City High School, he attended Kemper Military Academy and the University of Missouri. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He worked in the hotel industry and started at the Hotel Phillips, Kansas City. He then returned to  Jefferson City and was assistant manager at the Hotel Governor. He most recently was a night manager at La Valencia Hotel, LaJolla, Calif. He retired from the hotel industry after 38 years and moved to Kentucky.

Survivors include one daughter, Denise Nieman Ozanus, Oak Point, Texas .

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Gardens at Grace Episcopal Church in Paducah, Ky. The remains will be cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Metrocrest Funeral Home, Carrollton, Texas .

MAXWELL

Services were Saturday for Ernest Walter Maxwell, 92,  Jefferson City, who died April 4, 2002, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

He was born June 6, 1909, in Huggins. He was married to Marie Maxwell, who preceded him in death.

He was a farmer and a carpenter and worked on construction at Ft. Leonard Wood. He was a lifelong member and ordained deacon of the Number One Freewill Baptist Church, Huggins and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, Mountain Grove.

Survivors include: two sons, Vernis Maxwell, Tulsa, Okla., and Dennis Maxwell,  Jefferson City; one brother, Lonzo Maxwell, Mountain Grove; two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.

Services were at Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.

Memorials are suggested to the building fund of the First Baptist Church,  Jefferson City.

JOHNSON

Robert Eugene Johnson, 58, Russellville, died April 8, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Nov. 19, 1943, in  Jefferson City, a son of Roy T. and Pearl Jewel Lairmore Johnson.

He worked as a cook at several area restaurants.

Survivors include: two stepsons, Thomas Lee Heneisen, Ashland, and Walter Heneisen, Holts Summit; four brothers, Floyd Johnson and George Land, both of Holts Summit, Ronnie Johnson, Fenton, and Roger Land, Elmwood, Ill.; one sister, Betty Long, Russellville; and five step grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors,  Jefferson City. The Rev. Joseph Skiles will officiate. Burial will be in Lane Cemetery near Linn.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

BURNS

Floyd R. Burns, 84, Camdenton, died April 7, 2002.

He was born Sept. 11, 1917, in Laclede County, a son of J.W. and Minnie Allen Burns. He was married April 12, 1940, to Dorothy Webster, who survives at the home.

He was raised in Camden County. He moved to Kalamazoo, Mich., and Belton, before returning to Camden County.

He worked for the Camdenton R-III Schools in the janitorial department from 1968-1980, when he retired.

He was a member of Ira Missionary Baptist Church near Eldridge, where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include: four sons, Bud Burns, Charles Ray Burns, Jr. Burns, and Phillip Burns, all of Camdenton; one daughter, Shirley Welsh, Camdenton; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Decaturville Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Danny Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Allee Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.

Memorials are suggested to Zion Cemetery Care Fund.

BOHMANN

Sylvester E. Bohmann, 83, Gainesville, Texas , died April 7, 2002, at Bonham, Texas .

He was born Sept. 15, 1918, in  Jefferson City, a son of Frank and Minnie Bohmann. He married Bridget Bohmann, who survives in Gainesville.

He owned and operated Bohmann Construction Company for many years and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gainesville.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include: three sons, Glenn Bohmann, Lawrence, Kan., Gerry Bohmann, Forney, Texas , and Kenny Bohmann, Ottawa, Kan.; three daughters, Barbara White , Enterprise, Ala., and Bernadine Brown, and Doris Rauschuber, both of Gainesville; one sister, Deloris "Babe" Pringer,  Jefferson City; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Reinhard Sternemann will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville.

Visitation, including a rosary, begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville.

BAKER

Beverly Lynne Baker, 50, Versailles, died March 31, 2002, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

She was born Dec. 21, 1951, in St. Louis, a daughter of Ralph and Ester Bea Kerr Goddard. Her father survives in Jourdanton, Texas . She was married to C.G. "Bud" Aldridge, who survives at the home.

She spent most of her childhood in Texas . She was a certified medical technician and nurse aid at Good Shepherd Care Center for the past 11 years.

Other survivors include: two sons, Joshua Ray Baker and Corey Wayne Baker, both of the home; one daughter, Stephanie Gregory, Warrensburg; two brothers, Gary Goddard, Lockhart, Texas , and Kevin Goddard, Brenham, Texas ; one sister, Denise Davis, Jourdanton; and one grandson.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles. Burial will be in Jourdanton.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

BELT

The Rev. Loren J. Belt, 86, St. Louis, formerly of  Jefferson City, died April 8, 2002, in St. Louis County.

He was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Elk City, Okla., a son of Dorse H. and Edna May Deering Belt. He was married May 4, 1941, to Vesta Messenger, who survives in St. Louis County.

He received his bachelor's degree at  Oklahoma Baptist University and his master's degree in education from the University of  Oklahoma. He received his bachelor of divinity, master of theology, and doctor of theology degrees from the Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kan. He was a pastor and denominational minister for nearly 60 years.

His pastorates in  Oklahoma included: Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Grant County; First Baptist Church, Buffalo; Trinity Baptist Church, El Reno and Southside Baptist Church,  Oklahoma City. He served as director of city missions in Wichita, Kan., and director of race relations for the Illinois Baptist Convention.

His ministry in Missouri included: pastor of First Baptist Church and Salem Baptist Church, both in California.

His last pastorate was the Calvary Baptist Church in  Jefferson City.

For 22 years he served as the state director of race relations for the Missouri Baptist Convention.

He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in St. Louis County and the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Missouri.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Belt, House Springs.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, California. The Rev. C.D. Butler and the Rev. Earl Abel will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Waukomis Cemetery, Waukomis, Okla. The Rev. Danny Marney will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, and from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Gideons International, 1023 Holly Drive,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.
