IMLER

J. Howard Imler Sr., 83, Eldon, died July 21, 2002, in  Jefferson City.

He was born June 28, 1919, in Barnett, a son of John A. and Comfort Alberteen Smith Imler. He was married in December 1940 to Geraldine Hodel. He was married April 16, 1963, in Camdenton, to Merle Lambeth Weaver, who survives at the home.

He worked for Gerbes Supermarket from 1953-1973. He owned and operated a store in Mt. Pleasant until his retirement. He was a member of Etterville Christian Church and American Legion Post 229. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include: one son, Jim Imler, Eldon; two stepsons, Eddie Weaver,  Jefferson City, and David Weaver, Tracy, Calif.; one daughter, Rita Runyan, Eldon; one stepdaughter, Lee Ann Cline, Tonaset, Wash.; one brother, Layte Imler, Kansas City; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Wanda "Wendy" Duncan, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Etterville Christian Church. Borys Boyuk will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eldon.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

PUCKETT

David Neal Puckett, 66, Eugene, died July 20, 2002 in  Jefferson City.

He was born Nov. 13, 1935, in  Jefferson City, a son of Chester C. and Hazel E. Saucier Puckett. His mother survives in  Jefferson City.

He owned and operated Puckett Hauling from 1954-1961. He was a truck driver for International Shoe Company from 1961-1986, when he retired. He was a cattle farmer. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Mary's Home. He was a member of the Teamster Union St. Louis Local and the American Angus Association.

Survivors include: two sons, Timothy Chester Puckett and Rodney David Puckett, both of Eugene; one daughter, Gayla Sue Neiman, Eugene; two brothers, Raymond Puckett, St. Bonifacius, Minn., and James Puckett, Linn; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church. The Rev. Clarence Wiederholt will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home in Mary's Home, with rosaries at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m..

Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of the Snows Parish School.

BRIDGES

Melvin L. Bridges, 92, Gravois Mills, died July 21, 2002, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

He was born Aug. 24, 1909, in Dent County, a son of George and Rosetta Tournbaugh Bridges. He was married Nov. 8, 1947, to Madeline Pinkerton, who survives in Versailles.

He was a cement truck driver.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

CLINGMAN

Elvin M. Clingman, 85, Mokane, died July 21, 2002, at Riverview Nursing Center, Mokane.

He was born July 28, 1916, in Mokane, a son of Arthur and Lutie Newsom Clingman. He was married April 30, 1938, to Bernadine Eldringhoff, who survives at the home.

He was a farmer for many years and retired from Fulton State Hospital in 1978. He was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, Mokane.

Survivors include: one son, Jay Clingman, Lake Mykee; two daughters, Jo Ann Mealy, Mokane, and Barbara Niblack, Fulton; two brothers, Arvel Clingman, Mokane and Raymond Clingman, Fulton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Thursday at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. The Rev. Rob Fields will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, with a Christian wake service at 5 p.m., at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church.

JAMES

Marie James, 80, Stover, died July 22, 2002, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia.

She was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Stover, a daughter of Irvin B. and Lena Campbell Silvey. She was married Oct. 19, 1939, in Versailles, to William E. "Bill" James, who survives at the home.

She attended Stover High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Stover, serving as Sunday school secretary for many years. She served as an election judge in Stover.

Other survivors include: one son, Jack James, Stover; one daughter, Lana James, Versailles; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Connie Arlene Cornett, and one grandchild preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dinzel Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Stover Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Stover.

PIVERAL

Verlin W. Piveral, 80, Sunrise Beach, died July 20, 2002, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born April 15, 1922, in Maryville, a son of Harry and Eunice Griffy Piveral. He was married Sept. 6, 1942, to Jewel M. Granito, who preceded him in death.

He was a supervisor for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 35 years. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the VFW, and Masonic Lodge 299 and Scottish Rite, both in Kansas City.

Survivors include: one son, Verlin W. Piveral Jr., Kansas City; one daughter, Toni M. Owen, Dunnellon, Fla.; one brother, Charles Piveral, Rochester, Minn.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be Saturday at Lake Memorial Gardens, Osage Beach.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

KNOX

Donald Knox, 58, Harlingen, Texas , formerly of  Jefferson City, died July 20, 2002, in Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen.

He was born Sept. 16, 1943, in Salem, a son of William F. and Frances Chapman Knox.

A Navy veteran, he was a graduate of  Jefferson City High School.

The remains will be cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, Harlingen.

VALDEZ-BAKER

Autumn Rain Valdez-Baker, 6, Jamestown, died July 19, 2002, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics from injuries sustained in an accident.

She was born April 18, 1996, in Lake Ozark, a daughter of Bryan Valdez and Christy Clark. Her father survives in Ault, Colo. Her mother and stepfather, Christy and Chris Baker, survive in Jamestown.

She had completed her kindergarten year at Jamestown School. She attended Humphrey's Creek Christian Church in Capps.

Other survivors include: two brothers, Adam Joseph Orville Valdez-Baker and Taylor Thomas Lloyd Baker, of the home.; four sisters, Tiana Sky Valdez-Baker, Christina Lee Baker, Christa Jean Baker and Elizabeth Lorine Baker, all of the home; maternal grandmother, Carlene Clark, Tuscumbia; paternal grandparents, Joe and Juanita Valdez, Fort Collins, Colo., and Lloyd and Pat Baker, California; great-grandmother, Lola Christine Hatfield, California; maternal great-great-grandmother, Ethel Baker, Clarksburg; and paternal great-great-grandmother, Lucy Cottle, Fort Collins.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Salem Baptist Church, north of California. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Capps Cemetery, Tuscumbia. The Rev. Rusty Thomas and the Rev. Russell Cobb will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the sisters and brothers of Autumn Rain Valdez-Baker, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 South Oak St., California, Mo. 65018.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantrial Funeral Services, California.

WILSON

Dorothy Wilson, 91, Iberia, died July 23, 2002, near Iberia.

She was born Jan. 12, 1911, near St. Anthony, a daughter of William and Abigail Agnes Humphrey Dake. She was married April 21, 1928, in Tuscumbia, to Ray Wilson, who died Oct. 13, 1995.

She worked at H.D. Lee Pants Factory, Richland, and L.B. Manufacturing, Iberia, until her retirement. She was a member of the Brays Advent Christian Church near Iberia. She was a member of the American Legion Post 105 Ladies Auxiliary in Iberia.

Survivors include: one son, Bill Wilson,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Ida Irwin and Flora Copeland, both of Iberia; one stepdaughter, Ruth Dake, Iberia; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

One son, Vernia Wilson and one grandson, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Earl Skidds will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to Lake Ozark Area Home Health and Hospice or Brays Advent Christian Church.
