HASLAG
Everett H. Haslag, 84, Loose Creek, died March 3, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born July 25, 1918, in Osage County, a son of Linus and Josephine Backes Haslag. He was married Sept. 8, 1937, in Loose Creek, to Helen Schmitz, who died Jan. 25, 1993.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek.
Survivors include: one son, Charles L. Haslag Sr., Linn; one daughter, Carleen A. Peitzmeyer, Loose Creek; two sisters, Evelyn Schmitz, Jefferson City and Alvina Castrop, Westphalia; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek. The Rev. Greg Meystrik will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
HENDERSON
Jean Malone Henderson, 75, Vienna, died March 2, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Jefferson City, to George W. and Lois Augusta Anderson Malone. She was married Sept. 11, 1948, to Howard Loyal Henderson, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include; two sons, Loyal Smith Henderson and Carl Tyler Henderson, both of Vienna; three daughters, Sue Wenger, Mulvane, Kan., Terry Lynn Snodgrass, Vienna, and Patricia Wombwell, Montrose; two sisters, Patricia James, St. Louis, and Helen Harner, Winchester, Va.; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Vienna. The Rev. Karen Alden will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday at the church.
Memorial are suggested to the Old Jail Museum, Vienna Public Cemetery or Vienna United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kordes Funeral Home, Rolla.
KELLEY
Donald W. Kelley, 71, Jefferson City, died Feb. 27, 2003, at his home.
He was born Sept. 22, 1931, in Fredonia, Kan., a son of Pat and Sadie Adamson Kelley. He was married Feb. 7, 1963, in Sedalia, to Eva Baldwin, who survives at the home.
He attended Buxton School in Fredonia. He was a resident of the Jefferson City area since 1963. He owned and operated D and D Mobile Home Sales and Service and currently worked for Bryan Mobile Home Company. He was a member of VFW, Fredonia, and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Other survivors include: one son, Chris W. Kelley, Bullhead City, Ariz.; four stepdaughters, Nichole Evans and Jennifer Draeger, both of LaHabra, Calif., Victoria Draeger, San Diego, and Velma Jean Knowlton, Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother, James Kelley, Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Agatha Darlene Dexter, Fredonia, Judith Cohee, Baton Rouge, La., and Mary Allsman, West Plains; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to Oak View Living Center.
SCHEPERLE
Cletus W. "Shep" Scheperle, 78, Benicia, Calif., died Feb. 24, 2003, at his home.
He was born May 2, 1924, in Brazito, a son of Louis and Alma Scheperle. He was married to Virginia Scheperle, who died in 1991.
He lived in Benicia since 1983. He was a career Navy aviator and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, retiring as a lieutenant commander after 24 years of service. He then worked for Honeywell as a sales representative and distributed computerized technology to the NASA programs in Florida and Texas . He lectured on building experimental aircraft for several flying associations in northern California. He was a member of the EAA, Napa Chapter 167.
Survivors include: one daughter, Kim Stevens, Benicia; one brother, Walter Scheperle, Jefferson City; and two sisters, Beulah Beatty, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Margaret Vandeloecht, Fulton.
Services will be private. The body will be cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia.
Memorials are suggested to the EAA, Napa Chapter 167, Bridgeport Airport, Napa, Calif.
TUCKER
Wanda Lee Tucker, 73, Camdenton, died March 1, 2003, at Osage Beach Health Care Center.
She was born Dec. 28, 1929, near Walnut Ridge, Ark., a daughter of Frank W. and Edna Stuart King. She was married in 1974 in Florissant, to Cleo Uel Tucker, who died Sept. 29, 1993.
She lived most of her adult years in St. Louis and Warrenton, moving to Camdenton in 1981. A homemaker, she was a member of Graceland Church.
Survivors include: five sons, Robert Moentmann and Richard Moentmann, both of Florissant, Rudy Moentmann, Sharon Springs, N.Y., Preston Moentmann, House Springs, and Roger Moentmann, Camdenton; one daughter, Wilma Spangler, Camdenton; three brothers, Preston King, Hobart, Ind., Frank King, Cedar Lake, Ind., and James King, Portage, Ind.; one sister, Joyce Huber, Valpo, Ind.; 30 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
One son, Steven Tucker, and one grandson preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Graceland Church. The Rev. Ralph Kingston will officiate. Burial will be in Allee Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to Graceland Church.
WALDEN
James Edward Walden, 54, Rocky Mount, died Feb. 28, 2003, at his home.
He was born April 5, 1948, in Columbia, a son of Robert M. and Opal M. Turner Walden.
Survivors include: one son, Jacob S. Walden, Chicago; one brother, Donald R. Walden, Fort Collins, Colo.; one sister, Phyllis Walden, Berywn, Ill.; and one grandchild.
The body was cremated.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today at Am-Vets Hall, Rocky Mount.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
WIEBURG
Euing "Red" Wieburg, 73, Camdenton, died Feb. 26, 2003.
He was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Strickler, Ark., a son of Nathan and Adeline Taylor Wieburg. He was married Sept. 12, 1954, in Tulsa, Okla., to Evangeline Mae Rosecrans, who survives.
He graduated from Van Buren High School, Van Buren, Ark., in 1948. He attended Little Rock Junior College, Little Rock, Ark. He worked for Shewin-Williams Paint Company for 30 years, retiring in 1978. In 1980, he founded Wieburg Enterprises, Camdenton, and operated it until 2000. He was a member of Osage Hills Baptist Church, Osage Beach, The Gideons International and Promise Keepers. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Other survivors include: one son, David Wieburg, South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; one daughter, Susan Hudgens, Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Juanita Rowe, Van Buren, Ark.; and six grandsons.
Private graveside services will be Saturday in Wieburg Family Cemetery, Camdenton.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton, and from noon-2 p.m. Friday at Osage Hills Baptist Church, Osage Beach, with military honors at 2 p.m. A reception will follow in Fellowship Hall.
Memorials are suggested to The Gideons International.
BATEMAN
Laura L. Bateman, 84, Jefferson City, died March 4, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Feb. 7, 1919, in Kansas City, a daughter of Alva and Lavonne Perkins Swain. She was married Dec. 28, 1938, in Kansas City, to Howard M. Bateman, who died in 1973.
She was a 1937 graduate of Central High School, Kansas City. She owned and operated several gift shops at the Lake of Ozarks and was a volunteer at St. Marys Health Center.
Survivors include: one son, Steve Bateman, Holts Summit; three daughters, Trisha Robbins, Lake of the Ozarks, and Sandra Ahart and Karen Strange, both of Eldon; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
