MONROE CITY - Bernetta Hirner, 96, of Monroe City and formerly of Hannibal, died at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Bishop-Davies Nursing Home in Hurst, Texas .
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Monroe City. Father Bill Flanagan will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Garner Funeral Home & Chapel in Monroe City.
Mrs. Hirner was born Jan. 19, 1905, in Hannibal to N.J. and Edith Pine Mulkey.
She was married to Henry C. Hirner on June 11, 1923, in Hannibal. He preceded her in death in February 1975.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jo Davidson of Monroe City and Lois Besgrove of Eules, Texas ; one brother, John Mulkey of Houston, Texas ; six grandchildren, Debbie Rupp, David Besgrove, Michael Besgrove, John Besgrove, James Besgrove and Robert Besgrove; three great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family wishes to include as survivors her sons-in-law, Charlie Davidson and Bill Besgrove.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary C. Metcalf, Dorothy Wiegenstein, Helen Pounds and Louise Waelder; two brothers, George Mulkey and Charles Mulkey; and one grandson, Mark Glascock.
Mrs. Hirner was a bookkeeper for Falstaff Brewing Co. of Hannibal for more than 30 years. She was a member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hannibal, now Holy Family Church. She attended Marion County schools.
She moved from Hannibal to Monroe City in 1976, then lived in Texas for the past few years. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts, and many of her quilts were donated for church functions. The family wishes to add she had a great love for her family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 2630 W. Freeway No. 202, Fort Worth, Texas ; Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Monroe City; or the ALS Foundation, 4621 S. Cooper No. 131-288, Arlington, Texas .
Pallbearers will be Jordon Rupp, Kenneth Capps, Jack Gwinner, Ed Kendrick, Tim Kendrick and Glenn Kendrick.
Dorothy Grace Griffin
Quincy, Ill.
June 11, 1916 - June 17, 2001
HANNIBAL - Dorothy Grace Griffin, 85, of Quincy, Ill., and formerly of Hannibal, died at 6:55 a.m. Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Father Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Griffin was born June 11, 1916, in Oakwood to Roy and Tilda Rodenbeck Cashman.
She was married to Raymond F. Griffin on May 8, 1943, in Hannibal. He preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1987.
Survivors include one brother, Jack Cashman of Louisiana; and one sister, Lucille Ulrich of Frankford.
The family wishes to also include as survivors, three nieces, Shirley Scheiner of Quincy, Alta Boyd of Frankford and Jackie Ringhauser of Louisiana; two nephews, Bob Cashman of Louisiana and Dale Cashman of Virginia Beach, Va.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. Griffin formerly worked for International Shoe Co. She was a member of the Holy Family Church.
Pallbearers will be Harold Scheiner, Lee Harris, Bob Cashman, Andy Morrison, Rustin Harris and Rod Harris.

Sept. 23, 1905 - June 16, 2001
PARIS - Lucile Stone, 95, of Paris, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Wildwood Nursing Home in Madison.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Agnew Funeral Home in Paris. The Rev. Jonelle Loehnig will officiate. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stone was born Sept. 23, 1905, in Paris to George L. and Josie Pitts Johnston.
She was married to Albert Stone on Jan. 26, 1924, in Paris. He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1981.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Stone of Warrensburg; and two grandsons, Kevin Stone and Erik Stone.
The family wishes to include as survivors one daughter-in-law, Margaret Stone of Warrensburg; and one niece, Marie Vance of Paris.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Mrs. Stone and her husband owned and operated Stone Feed Store in Paris from 1959 to 1981. She was a former member of the Oak Ridge Christian Church.
Danny McDonald
Millersburg
Nov. 26, 1959 - June 17, 2001
VANDALIA - Danny McDonald, 41, of Millersburg and formerly of Vandalia, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at his home.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at Holt Funeral Home in Vandalia. The cremains will be buried later.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at the funeral home.
Mr. McDonald was born Nov. 26, 1959, in Hannibal to Kenneth McDonald and Charline Bagley.
Survivors include his parents; one son, Corey McDonald of Hermann; two daughters, Shawna McDonald of Holt Summit and Danielle McDonald of Hermann; three brothers, Eugene McDonald and Dwayne McDonald, both of Vandalia, and Randy McDonald of Center; two sisters, Charlotte Gaw of Warrensburg and Angela Bagley of Mexico; and his grandmother, Velma McDonald of Vandalia.
The family wishes to include as a survivor one aunt, June Trower of Vandalia.
Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ross and Edna Thompson, and Ernie McDonald.
Christopher Scott Powell Jr. Matthew Robert Powell
HANNIBAL - Christopher Scott Powell Jr. died at 9:27 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2001, and Matthew Robert Powell died at 12:10 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2001.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. The Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Christopher and Matthew were born June 14, 2001, in Hannibal to Christopher and Sarah Reutenauer Powell.
A triplet sister, Trinity Alexis Powell, survives.

HANNIBAL - Elizabeth Range, 98, of Hannibal, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Levering Regional Healthcare Center.
Funeral services are pending at Williams Funeral Home in Hannibal.

HANNIBAL - Harold Eugene Bassett, 69, of Hannibal, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2001, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services are pending at Smith Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Joseph Arnold (Had) Rutherford Sr.
Vandalia
Sept. 19, 1908 - June 14, 2001
VANDALIA - Joseph Arnold (Had) Rutherford Sr., 92, of rural Vandalia, died at 9:14 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Vandalia. Pastor Virgil Clow will officiate. Burial will be at Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday at Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia, with a Masonic service.
Mr. Rutherford was born Sept. 19, 1908, in rural Pike County near Gazette to Nathan Joe and Katherine Webber Rutherford.
He was married to Emma Wilma Kraft on Sept. 21, 1941, in Bowling Green. She preceded him in death July 5, 1987.
Survivors include one son, Joe Rutherford Jr. of Columbia; two daughters, Mary Lou Shaw of Eufaula, Ala., and Linda Waters of Vandalia; one sister, Juanita Hough of Wellsville; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lowell Rutherford.
Mr. Rutherford had farmed south of Vandalia since 1948. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a 34-year member of the Kilby Cemetery Board.
Mr. Rutherford was a 50-year member of Vandalia Masonic Lodge No. 491, AF & AM, where he served as master in 1967. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite and Shrine.
