Nicole A. "Nikki" Cook, 18, Jefferson City, died Aug. 26, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born icon May 5, 1981, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Leroy "Butch" and Laura Bailey Cook. Her stepfather and mother, Bob and Laura Coyne, survive in Jefferson City. Her father and stepmother, Leroy "Butch" and Jayne Cook, survive in Holt.

She attended the Special Learning Center, Vogelweid Learning Center, Kearney Junior High School and Liberty High School. She currently was attending Simonsen 9th Grade Center.

She played basketball and was a participant in the Special Olympics.

Other survivors include: two brothers, Christian Coyne, Jefferson City, and Christopher Clark, Holt; three sisters, Christina Cook, Kansas City, Misty West, Jefferson City, and Kristina George, Holt; maternal grandparents, Jim and Annette Bailey, Jefferson City; paternal step grandparents, Bill and Eileen Bennett, Smithville; maternal step grandparents, Russell and Lillian Coyne, state of Pennsylvania; maternal great-grandmother, Louise Renault, Kansas City; and maternal great-grandfather, Lynn VanDalsem, Jefferson City.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the Nicole Cook Memorial Fund, in care of United Missouri Bank of Jefferson City.

ANDERSON

Willa Irene "Billie" Anderson, 75, Versailles, died Aug. 24, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born icon May 17, 1924, in Gravois Mills, a daughter of Willard O. and Tishia Irene Nevis Meyer.

She was secretary for Thomas Furniture in Versailles. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Versailles.

Survivors include one daughter, Julia Krattli, Gravois Mills, and one half-sister, Betty Daniels, Versailles.

One son, Jimmy Brian Anderson, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kidwell Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Versailles.

NEVINS

Jewell O. Nevins, 73, Fulton, died Aug. 25, 1999, at his home.

He was born icon Nov. 4, 1925, in Jefferson City, a son of J.W. and Elise Alice Farris Nevins. He was married icon July 11, 1953, in Fulton, to Della Jo Bellamy, who survives at the home.

He worked at Brady's Glass, retiring in 1987. He then worked in maintenance at Gaspers.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Barbara A. Merten, Fulton, Bonnie C. Bowers, Lawrence, Kan., and Donna Jo Atterberry, Fulton; three sons, Danny L. Nevins, Rick L. Nevins and Michael K. Nevins, all of Fulton; one brother, Taylor Nevins, Jefferson City; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Mike Crowson will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Callaway County YMCA.

CORRIGAN

James K. Corrigan, 62, Jefferson City, died Aug. 26, 1999, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.

Arrangements are incomplete at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

NEWKIRK

Charles H. Newkirk, 77, Camdenton, died Aug. 26, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born icon May 27, 1922, in California, Mo., a son of James D. and Beulah Mae Allee Newkirk. He was married icon April 2, 1943, in California, to Norma Parkes, who survives at the home.

A Camdenton resident for the past 11 years, he was employed as a purchasing agent for J.F. Pritchard Co. prior to his retirement. He was a member of Blue Ridge Methodist Church in Kansas City.

Other survivors include: one brother, Jim Newkirk, Stover; and six sisters, Wilma Cornine, Margaret Rohweder, Jody Blankenship and Kathrine Cooprider, all of California, Norma Howlett, Oak Grove, and Sue Nutt, Sedalia.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Steve Moseley will officiate. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Barnett.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

GLOVER

Edward Everett Glover, 69, Mokane, died Aug. 28, 1999, at Riverview Nursing Center, Mokane.

He was born icon Aug. 20, 1930, in Callaway County, a son of Martin M. and Anna Katherine Glover. He was married icon March 26, 1962, in High Gate, to Mary Ann Varnadore, who survives at the home.

A corporal in the Army, he retired from the South Callaway R-2 School District in 1996, where he had been a groundskeeper for several years.

He was a member of Mokane IOOF Lodge 597 for 48 years and a longtime member of the Callaway County Fox Hunters Association. He belonged to the Mokane Lions Club since 1962.

He coached numerous baseball and softball teams and was involved in numerous school organizations.

Other survivors include: two sons, Gregory E. Glover, Tebbetts, and Douglas L. Glover, Mokane; two brothers, Martin Glover, Mokane, and Cedric Elsenrath, Portland; two sisters, Frances Sweany, Eldon, and Mary Orchard, Mokane; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Debo Funeral Home. Danny Hockemeyer will officiate. Burial will be in Hams Prairie Cemetery, Hams Prairie.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

HOWSER

Donald Edward Howser, 57, Wardsville, died Aug. 29, 1999, at his home.

He was born icon June 5, 1942, in Jefferson City, a son of Roy E. and Dolores Pfenenger Howser. His mother survives in Jefferson City. He was married icon June 20, 1964, in St. Thomas, to Allene Boessen, who survives at the home.

He was a 1960 graduate of Helias High School. He graduated in 1964 from Christian Brothers College, Memphis, Tenn., with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He received a master's degree in management from Baker University, Ottawa, Kan.

He was employed for 12 years at the Leeds General Motors Plant, Kansas City. He owned and operated Howser Electrical and Mechanical Contractors, Inc. for 14 years. He was employed as a maintenance engineer with Pfizer, Inc., and at the Turner Corporation, Kansas City, from 1992 until his retirement in 1997.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Wardsville; a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus; a member and past president of the Missouri River Retrievers Club; a member and past officer of the Kansas City Retrievers Club; a member and past officer of the Apache Flats Lions Club; and a member of the Harley Owners Group, Kansas City. He won numerous awards for training and trialing Labrador retrievers. He had the youngest dog in the history of the American Kennel Club to win the junior hunter title.

Other survivors include: one son, Donald E. Howser Jr., Columbia; two daughters, Cynthia L. Howser and Shellie M. Howser, both of Raytown; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Church. The Rev. Mike Coleman and Msgr. Bernard Boessen will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Mortuary, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the ALS Association of the Keith Worthington Chapter, The Helias Foundation, or the Building Fund of St. Stanislaus Church.

HUME

Bessie R. Hume, 88, Jefferson City, died Aug. 28, 1999, at Oak View Living Center.

She was born icon Dec. 28, 1910, in Columbia, a daughter of Charles and Ecce Torbit Hume.

She graduated from high school in Kansas City and attended Christian Women's College, Columbia. She was employed by the Missouri Division of Workman's Compensation for 25 years and also worked at Porth's Jewelry Store.

She was a member of the Christian Church, the Boone County Historical Society and the Missouri State Democratic Committee.

She is survived by one nephew, Frank Monroe Hume Jr., Jefferson City.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Mindy J. Kiepe will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to Jefferson City Parks and Recreation.

MATTHEWS

Alton Joseph Matthews Jr., 71, St. Louis, died Aug. 29, 1999, at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete at Meyer-Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Chamois.

GOWANS

Louise Marion Gowans, 83, Fulton, died Aug. 28, 1999, at Fulton Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was born icon Feb. 4, 1916, in Oak Park, Ill., a daughter of William A.D. and Clara Fandry Collister. She was married icon May 12, 1934, in Waukegan, Ill., to Neil Gowans, who died Feb. 4, 1945.

She moved to the Hams Prairie area in 1946. She retired from the dietary department at Fulton State Hospital in 1970.

Survivors include: three sons, Allan Gowans, Fulton, Ernest Gowans, Jacksonville, Fla., and Tom Gowans, Sedalia; three brothers, William Collister, San Antonio, Texas, Lionel Collister, Columbia, and Clarence Collister, Norman, Okla.; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Alec "Sandy" Gowans and William Gowans, and one granddaughter, preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Hams Prairie Cemetery. The Rev. David Mueller will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetic Society.

LONIGRO

Joseph "Joe" Lonigro, 63, Linn Creek, died Aug. 28, 1999, at his home.

He was born icon Oct. 3, 1935, in New York, N.Y., a son of Anthony and Mildred Sapieta Lonigro. He was married icon Dec. 27, 1958, in Bronx, N.Y., to Ann McCawley, who survives at the home.

A retired firefighter in New York, he was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Camdenton.

Other survivors include: one son, Robert Lonigro, Linn Creek; two daughters, Bernadette Lonigro and JoAnne Lonigro, both of Ramsey, N.J.; two sisters, Joan Dichiaro and Arlene Schmidt, both of Staten Island, N.Y.; and one grandson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. The Rev. James Feummeler will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Laurie.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

SCHEPERLE

Clifford Paul Scheperle, 84, Jefferson City, died Aug. 31, 1999, at Oak Tree Villas Retirement Center.

He was born icon April 29, 1915, in Stringtown, a son of Adam E. and Pauline Opel Scheperle. He was married icon Sept. 3, 1939, in Stringtown, to Emeline B. Schneider, who died May 6, 1981.

An Army veteran of World War II, he owned and operated AAA Masonry Inc. until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693.

He was a past member of Bricklayers Union 11.

Survivors include: one daughter, Janis G. Miller, St. Louis; three sons, Gary P. Scheperle, Jamestown, Keith E. Scheperle, Lohman, and Dale A. Scheperle, Jefferson City; one brother, Raymond G. Scheperle, Jefferson City; three sisters, Nelda Brauner, St. Martins, Ola Liescheidt, Jefferson City, and Mary Ann Farris, Enon; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jerome Brownlee will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund or Missouri River Hospice.

WALL

Maudie Wall, 79, died Aug. 30, 1999, at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.
