HUNT
Minister Willie Gray Hunt, Jr. of 2157 Gerald Street Departed this world on October 19, 1999. He will celebrate his new found Heavenly Home with his father, Willie Gray Hunt, Sr.; his brother, Charles L. Hunt; and a sister, Debra Hunt. Left to cherish his loving memory are his devoted wife of thirty years, Bernice Hunt; a son, Willie Gray Hunt III; a daughter, Debna Hunt; his mother, Dorothy Hunt; a sister, Denise (Charles) Clayton; along with a host of aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins, and friends. Willie G. Hunt had so many achievements, honors, and activities to name. His most important achievements were his unwavering service to the Lord Almighty and the legacy he bestowed upon so many. Graveside services will be held at Evergreen cemetery on Friday, October 22, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sam P.L. Hickerson officiating. There will be no public viewing. In lieu of any acts of kindness, please make any donations to the Kate Bitting Reynolds Hospice Home of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County. IJAMES
COOLEEMEE -- Mrs. Hazel Smith Ijames, 83, of Main Street, died Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at her residence. A graveside service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Center United Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Dennis Marshall officiating. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Ijames, 110 Main Street, Cooleemee for visitation. They request memorials be considered for Hospice of Rowan County, 825-A West Henderson St., Salisbury, N.C. 28145 or to the charity of the donor's choice. Mrs. Ijames was born September 14, 1916 in Davie County to the late W. Albert and Nora Spry Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Episcopal Church of Good Shepherd of Cooleemee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ijames in 1987. Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Ijames O'Neal of Wilmington and Penny Ijames Bray of Morganton; two sons, James W. Ijames of Salisbury and Richard L. Ijames of Mocksville; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue Cuthrell; and two brothers, Richard Smith and Lawrence Smith all of Cooleemee.

JORDAN
MOCKSVILLE -- Christopher Mack Jordan, 22, of Petes Lane, passed away October 19, 1999 at Davie County Hospital. Mr. Jordan was born August 3, 1977 in Rowan County to Joe Jordan of Mocksville and Glenda Whitt of Mocksville. He was a 1996 graduate of Davie High School and a member of Blaise Baptist Church. Mr. Jordan was employed by Jockey International in Mocksville. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Brian and Kevin Jordan; two sisters, Sharon Lawson and Tara Whitt all of Mocksville; paternal grandparents, Loman and Blanche Jordan of Cooleemee; and maternal grandparents, Dan and Mary Presnell of Cooleemee. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 21, 1999 at 8:00 p.m. at Blaise Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Sellers officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday, October 21, 1999 from 6-8 p.m. at Blaise Baptist Church. Committal Service will be held Friday, October 22, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Blaise Baptist Church cemetery. LAWSON
Mr. Robert Edward Lawson, 77, of Winston-Salem, died Monday, October 18, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 15, 1922 to William Robert and Minnie Grubbs Lawson in Behtania, N.C. He married Sarah Walker Lawson on September 29, 1942. To this union was born two children, Sarah Kay Lawson Hurd who died October 21, 1998 and Robert E. Lawson, Jr. (wife Ramona) of Raleigh, N.C.; one son-in-law, Shober W. Hurd of Walkertown; three grandchildren, Thomas Lawson of Raleigh, Terresa Parks (David) of Lexington and David Hurd (Amy) of Rural Hall; three great-grandchildren, Samantha Hurd of Rural Hall, Christopher Hurd of Rural Hall, and Joshua Parks of Lexington; and one sister, Viola Bowman of Clemmons. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He belonged to VFW Post #10471 in Walkertown. He was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church and of the Auditorium Class. Mr. Lawson retired from Vernon Foster Builders. A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 1999 at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Easler officiating. The body will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

MARTIN
MOCKSVILLE -- Mocksville pays respect to the memory of Mrs. Johnsie Joan M. Martin, 70, of Main Street, Mocksville. Mrs. Martin passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at N.C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem following heart surgery several weeks ago. She was born March 22, 1929 in Yadkin County to the late John Frank and Gertrude Allgood Martin. Mrs. Martin retired in 1989 after working many years in the Davie County School System. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mocksville. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, R.P. Martin; two sons, Phil Martin of Raleigh, N.C. and Mark T. Martin of Mocksville; four sisters, Mary Brock of Mocksville, Betty Barnes of King, Faye Hilton of High Point, and Ruth Steelman of Kannapolis, N.C.; one brother, Fred Martin of Kannapolis; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Suzanne Ridenhour and two brothers, Paul and Roger Martin. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 1999 at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, 1999 at First Baptist Church in Mocksville with the Reverend Bill Davis officiating. MCKIMIE
JONESVILLE, N.C. -- Clarice W. McKimie, 71, passed away Sunday, October 17, 1999 as the result of a car accident. She was born August 13, 1928 in Elkin, N.C. to Nathan Hubert and Pear Woodruff Williams. She was a 1945 graduate of Boonville School and a member of Island Ford Baptist Church. She was an employee at McDonalds in Jonesville and the Chamber of Commerce in Yadkinville, N.C. She was also a volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Western, N.C. Clarice is preceded in death by her husband, Ray on August 19, 1999; her father, Hubert Williams in 1977; her mother, Pearl W. Williams, October 11, 1999; and a granddaughter, Chrissy Elliott in 1991. She is survived by one son, Richard Casstevens of Hampton, Va.; three daughters, Brenda (John) Detert of Hampton, Christine (J.C.) Elliott, and Darlene (Larry) Crews all of Boonville, N.C.; one step-daughter, Rita Merlenbach of St. Louis, Mo.; and one step-son, Chris McKimnie of Bethany, Okla.; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Otis Williams of Winston-Salem; and a special friend, Becky Boyles of Mocksville, N.C. Friends will be received at Island Ford Fellowship Hall, Hwy. 67, Jonesville, Thursday, October 21, 1999 from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be conducted on Saturday, October 23, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Island Ford Church with the Rev. KERNERSVILLE -- Mrs. Minnie Hill McMahan "Granny Mac", 91, of 4520 Old Winston Rd., Kernersville, N.C. 27284, died Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at her residence. She was born July 4, 1908, the daughter of the late Samuel and Ellen Huckabee Hill in Brycefield, Tenn. Mrs. McMahan was a homemaker and a charter member of Kernersville Full Gospel Mission, member for over 35 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobart McMahan; a daughter, Hazel McMahan; four sons, Raymond, Robert, Edward, and Buford McMahan. Surviving are four daughters, Betty Bentley of Kernersville, Mrs. C.B. (Juanita) Rouse, Jr. of Chilhowie, Va., Mrs. Harold (Wilma) Epperson of Marion, Va., and Mrs. Charles (Carolyn "Libby") Gorbett, Jr. of Pasadena, Texas; two daughters-in-law, Ruth McMahan of Marion, Va. and Louise McMahan of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Margaret Bagwell of Hendersonville, N.C.; thirty-six grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. MOONEY
STATE ROAD -- Mr. Thomas Samuel Mooney, 62, of 123 Adams Ridge Rd., died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, October 20, 1999 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel in Elkin by Rev. Don Hayes and Bobby Lyles. Burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. Mr. Mooney was born in Surry County, May 26, 1937 to C. Floyd and Mae Caudill Mooney. He was a veteran of the Berlin Crisis, he retired from McLean Trucking Co., and was employed by ABT Co. in Roaring River. He was a member of Charity Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Gentry Mooney of the home; one son, Charles Lee (Theresse) Mooney of State Road; one grandson, Jesse Lee Mooney; one brother, James Jerry (Pauline) Mooney of State Road; and his mother-in-law, Edna Gentry of State Road. MORROW
ROARING GAP, N.C. -- Mrs. Mary Francis Morrow, 78, of Lake Suzy, Florida and Roaring Gap, N.C., died Thursday, October, 14, 1999 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Punta Gorda, Fla. She was born September 27, 1921, the daughter of Fred and Luella Hankinson Hallenback. She was a winter resident of Lake Suzy for more than 11 years. She was a member of Kingsway Country Club in Lake Suzy and High Meadows Golf and Country Club of Roaring Gap, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter David Morrow who died in 1996. Surviving are two daughters, Anne M. Harrison of Lake Suzy, Florida and Marilyn M. Giacometti of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, John D. Hallenbeck of Wilmington, N.C.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m Friday at Grandview Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Sparta, N.C. officiated by Dr. James T. Frazier. Burial will be in Sparta cemetery. REEVES
Mrs. Willie Finney Reeves, 100, the widow of Rufus C. Reeves, died Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at the Winston-Salem Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Mrs. Reeves was born on September 22, 1899 in Sparta, N.C. to Lee Smith and Alice Crockett Finney. She was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church. Mrs. Reeves is survived by a daughter, Miss Maxine E. Reeves of Winston-Salem and one sister, Mrs. Ethel F. Grubbs of King. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Shiloh United Methodist Church cemetery in Alleghany County. RIDGILL
Mr. Harvey Dinkin Ridgill, 69, of 3715 Maverick Avenue, departed this life in the early morning hours on October 19, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center, after a brief illness. He was born to Maybelle Pendergrass Ridgill and the late Rev. Garfield A. Ridgill on August 5, 1930 in Manning, S.C. He moved to Winston-Salem, N.C. at an early age and attended the local schools. He served a two year term in Korea between 1951 and 1953 with the U.S. Army. As a member of First Baptist Church, he served in the Sunday School and as an usher. Mr. Ridgill was well known and touched many lives while employed at the various K&W Cafeteria's throughout the city. He will be remembered by many for his warm personality and his sensitivity to the needs of the customers and co-workers. Although Mr. Ridgill was not a biological father, he supported, nurtured, inspired, and encouraged many, including his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Garfield Ridgill, Sr.; two brothers-in-law, Laughton Kelly and Lewis Mack; and one sister-in-law, Odessa Ridgill. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Mrs. Maybelle Pendergrass Ridgill; three sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Kelly and Doretha Ridgill of the city, and Sarah Ridgill of Inglewood, California; one brother, Mr. Garfield Ridgill, Jr. of the city; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 22, 1999 at 12:00 p.m. from First Baptist Church where Rev. Wendel Johnson will officiate and interment will follow at Piedmont Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to and services will be conducted by Gilmore Funeral Directors.

ROBERSON
Mr. Hill Roberson, 84, of 8036 Thorndike Rd., Greensboro, N.C., died October 19, 1999 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born June 15, 1915, was a retired painter with Gene Hedrick Construction Co., and a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Elsie Black Roberson of the home; daughters, Elizabeth Travis of Nashville, Tenn. and Elaine Loggins of Atlantic Beach, N.C.; grandchildren, Tazma Bright and Amber Vota; great-grandchildren, Morgan Cottle and C.J. Cottle; a sister, Jeanette Dillon of High Point; three stepdaughters, Wanda Hill of Pennsville, N.J., Beverly Long of Winston-Salem, and Robin Gordon of Colfax; three step-sons, Wayne Price of Elmer, N.J., Clinton Price of Walkertown, and David Price of Winston-Salem; ten step-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Peters and Dr. Joe Long officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home, Kernersville.

ADAMS
THOMASVILLE -- Mr. Paul Jessup Adams, 75, a resident of 311 Washboard Road, died Thursday morning at his residence after several months of declining health. Mr. Adams was born on Oct. 2, 1925, in Pilot Mountain, a son of John William "Willie" and Laura Jane Jessup Adams. He had been a resident of High Point and Thomasville most of his life and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. In 1968, he and Jay Young co-founded Adams Plywood Inc. His nephew, James Bennett worked side by side with him throughout his career. Mr. Adams co-founded B&A Plywood with his nephews Ronald and Claiborne Bennett. He also founded H&B Plywood with a special friend, Buford Hunter and nephew, James Bennett. He will always be remembered for his love of life and generous spirit. On Oct. 19, 1946, he married Helen Wiley who survives of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Debra K. Adams of Durham; two sisters, Mrs. Foye Beeson of Thomasville and Mrs. Treva Hilton of High Point; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Elaine Adams and a son, Paul "Buck" Wayne Adams. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point by the Rev. Bob Metters. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. BROOKS
KERNERSVILLE -- Miss Mamie Josephine Brooks, 82, formerly of 204 Clayton St., Winston-Salem, and a resident of Bradford Village East died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, after a lengthy illness. Miss Brooks was born and raised in the Winston-Salem area, where she attended Sedge Garden School. She was a retiree of Hanes Hosiery and a member of Crestwood Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher. Miss Brooks is survived by two nieces and a nephew. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Waughtown cemetery by the Rev. Neal Eller. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville. GILES
KING -- Mr. Lewis Daniel Giles, 72, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Giles was born June 2, 1928, in Prince Edward, Va. the son of Ernest Luther and Claudia Manning Giles. He was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mary Cates "Jean" Giles of the home; three daughters, Rebecca (Michael) Butner of Germanton, Teresa (Rudy) Bray of King and Robin (Joe) Brannock of Walkertown; four sons, Larry Daniel Giles of King, Bo (Ann) Giles of Jacksonville, Fla., Gary (Tammy) Giles and Keith Giles, all of Winston-Salem; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola (D.S.) Grindstaff of Winston-Salem and Merlin Rose Howerton of McKinney, Va.; three brothers, Alvin Booth and Willie Booth of McKinney, Va., and Hubert Manning of Rice, Va.; and a loving dog, Coco. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at King Memorial Park by the Rev. Jon White. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. Mr. Walter William Hall, 62, of 2422 Glenn Ave. passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born April 4, 1938, in Cornelius. He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife, Arlene Glenn Hall; 18 children, Beverly Hall, Melinda Moseley (Leonard), Bessie Smith (Maxi), Arlene Vinson, Deborah Ross and Robert Fisher (Tanya), all of Winston-Salem, Patricia Hall of Kernersville, William Fisher (Flo), Mark Hall, Paul Hall, Connie Hall, Marlene Hall, Bobby Hall, Darlene Tate (Terry), Roger Springs, Irma Springs and Keith Springs, all of Charlotte, and Barbara (John) Williams of Randolph, Mass.; 35 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Duncan Hall and Willie Mae Hall, both of Charlotte; three aunts, Julia Lindo of Washington, D.C., Ada Caldwell of Cornelius, and Anna Martin of Winston-Salem; two uncles, Ira Hall (Fannie Mae) of Davidson, and Johnnie Neely (Ada) of Washington, D.C.; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at the Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Huntersville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Violet Beamer Henderson, 76, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Henderson was born Oct. 26, 1923, to Kyle Lester and Sally Ann Vermillion Beamer. She lived all of her life in Forsyth County and was a member of Bethabara Moravian Church. She retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 36 years of service. Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Henderson, and a son, David E. Henderson Jr. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Jean Hendrix of Lewisville; a brother, James Lester Beamer of Winston-Salem; a grandson, Kevin Elwyn Henderson of Winston-Salem; two special friends, Maxine Davis and J.P. Powell; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Vogler & Sons Reynolds Road Chapel. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forsyth Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C S. LANGHURST
Mrs. Mildred Boston Langhurst, 80, of Silas Creek Manor, Winston-Salem, died Oct. 18, 2000. She was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Racine County, Ohio, to Wilbur J. and Beatrice King Boston. She was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid golfer. Surviving are a daughter, Carol Mucci of Yadkinville; a son, Wylie M. Langhurst II and wife Andee of Egg Harbor, N.J.; four grandchildren, Cynthia Bolen, Cathy M. Taylor and husband Scott, Griffin Langhurst and James Morelli; three great-grandchildren, Michelle Nash, Salina Alridge and Brandon Taylor; a great-great-grandchild, Ashton Scott Nash; a sister, Frances Taylor of Illinois; and two brothers, Earnest Boston of Pasco, Wash., and Lawrence Boston of Marshville, N.C. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Rhonda Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

MOUNCE
Mrs. Catherine Greenwood Mounce, 88, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at the Brian Center. Mrs. Mounce was born May 11, 1912, in Elkin to Luther and Hattie Gentry Greenwood. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she was a member of the senior s group for many years. She retired from Belk Department Store with 16 years service. Mrs. Mounce was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her stepmother, Sally Greenwood; a brother, Morgan Greenwood; and two stepsisters, Audrey Sloop and Bernice Corder. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Helen Cook and husband Briggs of Greensboro and Ms. Verna Binkley of Lakeland, Fla.; a son, John Mounce and wife Sue of Chicago; six grandchildren, Briggs Cook Jr. and wife Anne of Madison, Wis., David Cook of Greensboro, John Binkley and wife JoAnne of Hylton Head, S.C., Darren Binkley and wife Cynthia of Winston-Salem, John Mounce II of Chicago and Penny Schneider of Glenn Ellyn, Ill.; six great-grandchildren, Chloe and Ashton Binkley, Alyssa and Jordin Schneider and Angela and Troy Binkley; a brother, Robert Greenwood of Lakeland, Fla.; and a stepsister, Maierene Bates of Elkin. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bobby Reese officiating. Interment will be at Friendship Baptist Church cemetery in Elkin. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
