WHISPERING PINES -- John McLauren Prizer, 70, of Whispering Pines died Sunday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Mount Hope Cemetery in Southern Pines. Arrangements are being handled by Powell Funeral Home.

Mr. Prizer is survived by three sons, John L. Prizer Jr. of Maitland, Fla., and Robert W. Prizer and Douglas R. Prizer, both of Waterford, Mich.; three daughters, Catherine E. McLaren of Keego Harbor, Mich., Susan M. Machalowski of Holly Springs and Victoria A. Prizer of Ferndale, Mich.; a brother, Edward L. Prizer of Maitland, Fla.; a sister, Catherine A. Worthen of Salem, Mass.; and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Moore County Historical Association, P.O. Box 324, Southern Pines, N.C. 28388.

Juanita D. Darden (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

CLINTON -- Ms. Juanita Denton Darden, 92, of 310 Sampson St. died Saturday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Darden was a member of First Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Royal-Hall Funeral Home chapel by Drs. Darden Battle and Tom Denton. Burial will be in the Clinton Cemetery.

Ms. Darden is survived by a daughter, Peggy A. Dallas of Jacksonville; two sons, A.C. Darden Jr. of Clinton and Clarence B. Darden of Washington; a sister, Retha D. Kinman of Lands End, S.C.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 408 College St., Clinton, N.C. 28328.

Averis P. Wearins (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

LUMBERTON -- Averis Pittman Wearins, 62, of 5229 Union Chapel Road died Sunday in Cabarrus County Northeastern Hospital in Concord.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Symrna Baptist Church by the Revs. Shelly Dial and David Hunt. Burial will be in Robeson Memorial Gardens.

Toomey of Hollywood, Fla., and Teresa Locklear of Lumberton; three brothers, Leroy Pittman of Lincolntown, Md., Welton Pittman of Carson, Calif., and Larry Pittman of Ardmore, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.

Wayne M. Wearins (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

LUMBERTON -- Wayne Martin Wearins, 37, of 5229 Union Chapel Road died Thursday in Cabarrus County Northeastern Hospital in Concord.

Jack B. Cain (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

Jack Bernis Cain, 57, of 5539 Trade St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Oak Ridge Cemetery by Dr. David Hodge.

Mr. Cain is survived by a son, Jeffery Cain of Fayetteville; two brothers, James Cain of Trinity and Leamon Cain of Lumberton; and a grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McNeill Funeral Home.

Viola T. Hollingsworth (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

Mrs. Viola Tew Hollingsworth, 81, of 2637 Clinton Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in her home.

Mrs. Hollingsworth was a member of Temple Baptist Church for 45 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Temple Baptist Church by the Revs. Robert Lewis and Virgil Wilson. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hollingsworth is survived by a daughter, Karen Clark of Fayetteville; two sons, Doug Hollingsworth and Kenneth Hollingsworth, both of Fayetteville; a brother, Alvis Tew of Fayetteville; three sisters, Ellen Benton of Fayetteville, Alma Mintz of Lincolnville and Willena King of Salemburg; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Tanya S. Mitchell (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

SPRING LAKE -- Ms. Tanya Sharice Mitchell, 27, of 207 Wapiti died Oct. 3 in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Family Worship Center by Pastor Davenport. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cape Fear Crematory of Fayetteville.

Ms. Mitchell is survived by a son, Mathew L. Bass of Beaumont, Texas; her mother, Rosemary M. Bass of Beaumont; her stepfather, Kelly Coleman of Spring Lake; and two sisters, Kelly R. Coleman and Terrell P. Mitchell, both of Spring Lake.

Lou L. Del Priore (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

Mrs. Lou L. Del Priore, 90, of 316 Palomar St., Fayetteville, died Monday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Bruce Martin. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Del Priore is survived by two daughters, Patricia M. Bandolas of Fayetteville and Barbara M. Hooper of Nashville, Tenn.; a son, David R. Markham of Charleston, S.C.; a brother, William A. ‘‘Buck’’ Lockhart of Camden, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Martha A. Wade (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Martha Ann Wade, 103, of 133 Appletree Lane died Sunday in Autumn Care of Raeford.

Arrangements will be announced by Cunningham & Sons Mortuary.

John J. Neal (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

John Joseph Neal, 35, of 5020-F Watauga Road, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Sampson Memorial Hospital in Clinton.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Scott Filmer. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Conshohocken, Pa.

Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Wendy M. Neal of the home; two daughters, Kimberly L. Neal and Megan P. Neal, both of the home; his mother, Carol Neal of Philadelphia; three brothers, Tom Neal and George Neal, both of Philadelphia, and Paul Neal of Barnegate, Pa.; and seven sisters, Carol A. Neal of Arlington, Texas, Lucy Bradshaw of Beach Haven, N.J., Anna Neal, Laura Neal and Kimberly Neal, all of Philadelphia, Rose Hughes of Churchville, Pa., and Theresa Neal of Arlington.

The family will receive friends today from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carolyn B. Lee (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

Mrs. Carolyn Louise Broome Lee, who was one of the last surviving daughters of a Confederate soldier, died Saturday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Lee, of 4042 Camden Road, Fayetteville, was 93.

A spokesman for the United Daughters of the Confederacy in Richmond, Va., estimated that fewer than 250 “real daughters,’’ as they are called, are still living nationwide.

A graveside service for Mrs. Lee will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Cross Creek Cemetery by the Rev. Bruce Suggs.

Mrs. Lee is survived by a daughter, Doris Broome Martin of the home; a son, Clyde J. Broome of Winston-Salem; a sister, Lilly Hall of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home in Hope Mills.

Beverly S. Weinzetl (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

SANFORD -- Mrs. Beverly Sharlow Weinzetl, 62, of 5003 Cardinal Circle died Sunday in Central Carolina Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in Chapel of St. Luke United Methodist Church by the Rev. Tom Loftis.

Mrs. Weinzetl is survived by her husband, Robert S. Weinzetl Jr.; a son, Robert H. Weinzetl of Avon, Ind.; two daughters, Kimberly L. Smith of Efland and Curry L. McClurken of Dalton, Ga.; her stepmother, Margaret Sharlow of Gainesville, Fla.; two brothers, Francis C. Sharlow of Ingomar, Pa., and Walter Sharlow of Butler, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Carolina Trace Country Club.

Memorials may be made to FirstHealth Hospice of Lee County, 109A Vance St., Sanford.

Eudorah I. Taylor (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

STANTONSBURG -- Ms. Eudorah Israel Taylor, 90, of 512 S. Main St., formerly of Lumberton, died Sunday in Wilson Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in New Hollywood Cemetery by the Rev. Joe Bounds.

Ms. Taylor is survived by a son, Lacy H. Taylor Jr. of the home; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Richard O. ‘Chet’ Graham (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

WHITEVILLE -- Richard Owen ‘‘Chet’’ Graham, 87, of 721 Legion Drive died Saturday.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Union Baptist Church in Lake Waccamaw by the Rev. Ronald Campbell. Burial will be in Millican Cemetery in Whiteville. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home.

Mr. Graham is survived by his wife, Elvie Graham; eight daughters, Pauline Williams, Corena Shaw and Carolyn Burns, all of Whiteville, Selena Johnson of Tabor City, Mary Williams of Miami, Bernice Hurdle of Naperville, Ill., Alene Graham of Montclair, N.J., and Stephanie Roman of Evergreen; five sons, Jasper Graham of Chadbourn, Richard Graham Jr., of Whiteville, Macey Graham of Sanford, Thomas Graham of Paterson, N.J., and Douglas Kirksey of Fort Eustes, Va.; three brothers, George W. Graham of Freeman and James A. Graham and William O. Graham, both of Riegelwood; and seven sisters, Genieve Ross, Lula C. Brown, Lorraine Robinson and Ruby L. Blanks, all of Springfield, Mass., Sylvia Shipman of Elizabethtown, Mary L. Blanks of Freeman and Tessie Fry of Chicago.

Isabell Grissett (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

FAIRMONT -- Ms. Isabell Grissett, 48, of 943-100 Tard Drive died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.

Christyne V. Williams (Dated Thursday, October 28, 1999)

TABOR CITY -- Elder Christyne V. Williams, 66, of Tabor City died Monday in Loris Community Hospital in Loris, S.C.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Holy Light Holiness Church. Burial will be in Columbus County Singing Union cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Westside Funeral Home.

Elder Williams is survived by her husband, Dr. John C. Williams of Tabor City; four children, Loretta Thomas, Dianna W. Bellamy, John C. Williams Jr. and Deeshia Aguilera; two sisters, Maggie Faulcon and Doris Jeter of Tabor City; a brother, Dan Johnson of Tabor City; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Dianna W. Bellamy in Tabor City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christyne V. Williams Ministry.

Sue E. Tew (Dated Thursday, October 28, 1999)

Mrs. Sue Ellen Tew, 60, of 5615 Williams Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Northwood Temple Church by the Rev. John Hedgepeth. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Mrs. Tew is survived by her husband, Erdmon Tew of Fayetteville; two sons, Ronald R. Stellfox and Robert R. Stellfox, both of Fayetteville; a daughter, Susan Trujillo of Fayetteville; a sister, Doris Hozphael of Mercer, Pa.; and a brother, James Davis of Port St. Lucie, Fla.

The family will receive friends at the home of Susan Trujillo, 2050 Ironwood Drive.

Naomi S. Stone (Dated Thursday, October 28, 1999)

BENSON -- Miss Naomi Stewart Stone, 79, of 201 E. Church St. died Tuesday in her home.

Miss Stone was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. Margaret Hockett and Bobby Smith. Burial will be in Benson City Cemetery.

Miss Stone is survived by a sister, Nina S. Richardson of the home; and a brother, Warren Stone of Raleigh.
