SPRING LAKE -- Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Horace Hall, 69, of 36 Carnation Circle died Sunday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Liberty Baptist Church by the Rev. Craig Conner. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Lois Hall of the home; a son, Horace ‘‘Sonny’’ Hall Jr. of the home; and a daughter, Lisa V. Hall of the home.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at Wiseman Mortuary.
James E. Greer

GREENSBORO -- James Edward Greer, 87, of Greensboro, formerly of Whispering Pines, died Monday in his home.
Mr. Greer was a chemist with Burlington Industries for 40 years before retiring.
A graveside service will be conducted today in Westminster Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Forbis & Dick Funeral Service.
Mr. Greer is survived by his wife, Nellie L. Greer of the home; three daughters; two sisters; a brother; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Carol W. Gleason

Mrs. Carol Ann Wise Gleason, 60, of 2880 Lee Hill Circle, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Gleason is survived by her husband, George P. Gleason; a son, Leon P. Gleason of Charlotte; two daughters, Debra A. Armstrong of Spring Lake and Catherine C. Pfouts of Hueytown, Ala.; a brother, Donald Wise of Colden, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.
Mrs. Mary B. Doby

SANFORD -- Mrs. Mary Alice Burkhead Doby, 77, of 714 Frazier Drive died Wednesday in St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Northview United Church of Christ by the Revs. Clarence Gunter and Darell Greene. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.
Mrs. Doby is survived by her husband, George Doby; a daughter, Suzanne D. Cagle of Carthage; four brothers, A.C. Burkhead Jr. and Cooper Burkhead, both of Sanford, Billy Burkhead of Horse Head, N.Y., and Ted Burkhead of Baltimore; a sister, Mildred Hatchell of Florence, S.C.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
Glenn P. Davis

BOULDER, Colo. -- Glenn Paul Davis, 43, of Boulder, formerly of Lumberton, N.C., died Monday.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday in Trinity Episcopal Church in Lumberton. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka, N.C. Arrangements are being handled by Groce Funeral Home of Asheville, N.C.
Mr. Davis is survived by his mother and stepfather, Jane and John T. Squires of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Saranne D. Wilson of Pittsboro, N.C., and Jonelle D. Clowes of Cary, N.C.; and a brother, James R. Davis of Shelby, N.C.
The family will receive friends at the church after the funeral.
James H. ‘Jim’ Crump
ABERDEEN -- James Herbert ‘‘Jim’’ Crump, 64, of Aberdeen died Monday in his home.
Mr. Crump was a math professor at the College of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City before retiring.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Mike Branscome. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home and Crematory.
Mr. Crump is survived by his wife, Shelvey S. Crump; a son, James G. Crump of Emerald Isle; a daughter, Wanda J. Bergan of Southern Pines; a brother, Bobby Crump of Powhatan, Va.; and two grandsons.
The family will receive friends at the home.

Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her husband, Johnny A. Carpenter of Raeford; four sons, Rodney Carpenter, Garrett L. Carpenter and Tarrell Carpenter, all of Raeford, and Brett M. Carpenter of Plattsburg, N.Y.; six brothers, Norman McGregor Jr. of Raleigh, Robert T. McGregor, Jack McGregor, James F. McGregor and Michael A. McGregor, all of Raeford, and Eddie J. McGregor of Charlotte; five sisters, Virginia M. Johnson, Carrie L. Ferguson, Carol D. McPhatter and Deborah D. McGregor, all of Raeford, and Zemenia M. Mrs. White was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Mrs. White is survived by her husband, Edwin O. White of Whiteville; a daughter, Rebecca W. Ballard of Whiteville; a sister, Annie M. Stanley of Tabor City; and three grandchildren.

EAGLE SPRINGS -- Mrs. Mamie Horner Rouse, 93, of 7431 N.C. 705 died Saturday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mrs. Rouse was a homemaker.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Rock Hill Friends Church by the Revs. John Powell and Mike Holyfield. Burial will be in Tabernacle United Methodist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Rouse is survived by three daughters, Johnsie R. Williams and Crissie R. York, both of Eagle Springs, and Hester R. Garner of Winston-Salem; three sons, James ‘‘Ben‘‘ Rouse of York, Pa., Carl ‘‘Paul‘‘ Rouse of Eagle Springs and Cecil Rouse of the home; two sisters, Bonnie H. Williams and Dola H. Rexrode, both of Eagle Springs; a brother, Carl Horner of Eagle Springs; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
