MOUNT OLIVE -- Ms. Mary Luceille Williams, 65, of 302 Kornegay St. died Monday in her home.

Anna Pittman

LUMBERTON -- Ms. Anna Pittman, 90, of Lumberton died Sunday in Carrolton Nursing Home.

Arrangements will be announced by Biggs Funeral Home.

Terrance Bradham Jr.
(Dated Tuesday, November 2, 1999)

Terrance Bradham Jr., infant son of Terrance T. and Eshanda Bradham Sr., of 614 Brittany Place, Fayetteville, died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in H.M. Colvin Funeral Home chapel by Pastor E.B. Herman. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park.

In addition to his parents, Terrance is survived by two sisters, Khadjha L. McPhaul and Kaliya C. Bradham, both of Fayetteville; his paternal grandmother, Ruth Bradham of Laurinburg; his paternal grandfather, James Shannon of Boston; his maternal grandparents, Larry and Dorothy McPhaul of Fayetteville.

Christine B. Benway
(Dated Tuesday, November 2, 1999)

Mrs. Christine Brissette Benway, 50, of 594 Longwood Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in her home.

Mrs. Benway was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church by Father Jack Kelly.

Mrs. Benway is survived by her husband, Kenneth J. Benway of the home; two daughters, Kristen Nestor of Malden, Mass., and Pamela Weir of Stow, Mass.; her parents, William and Marie Brissette of Marlboro, Mass.; three brothers, David Brissette of Marlboro, Richard Brissette of Hudson, Mass., and James Brissette of West Boylston, Mass.; a sister, Jeanne Donovan of Auburn, Maine; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 35752, Fayetteville, N.C. 28303.

Inez M. Fleck
(Dated Tuesday, November 2, 1999)

Ms. Inez Matthews Fleck, 78, of Fayetteville died Sunday in her home.

Mrs. Fleck was a member of Christ Methodist Church, LaFayette Court No. 6 Order of the Amaranth, Fayetteville Chapter No. 334 Order of the Eastern Star and Cape Fear Shrine No. 8 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She also was a volunteer for Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Christ Methodist Church by the Rev. Carrie Parrish. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Ms. Fleck is survived by a daughter, Gail Harrington of Raleigh; a son, Gary S. Fleck of Fayetteville; a sister, Violet Davis of Greensboro; four brothers, N.J. ‘‘Bud’’ Matthews of McLeansville and Calvin Matthews, Hobart Matthews and Frank Matthews, all of Greensboro; and a grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cumberland County, 235 N. McPherson Church Road, Suite 210, Fayetteville, N.C. 28303.

Mattie ‘Mat’ Smith

LAURINBURG -- Ms. Mattie ‘‘Mat’’ Smith, 91 of 8900 Hasty Road died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Jones Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. T.R. Davis. Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery.

Ms. Smith is survived by two sisters, Estella Smith of Laurinburg and Tommie J. Dixon of Red Springs.

The family will receive friends at the home of Estella Smith, 11781 Johns Road.

Lurener H. Bryant

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Lurener Hunt ‘‘Rena’’ Bryant, 82, of 1150 Pine Run Drive died Monday in Woodhaven Nursing Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses by James Carmichael. Burial will be in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Bryant is survived by a son, Bruce Bryant of Lumberton; three daughters, Mary F. Storey and Wanda Turner, both of Fayetteville, and Paula Strickland of Lumberton; a sister, Frances Locklear of Pembroke; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Josephine G. Patterson

CHADBOURN -- Mrs. Josephine G. Patterson, 75, of 545 Dessie Road died Saturday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

Elder Ricky Mason will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Zion Wall Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will be in Belview Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Mrs. Patterson is survived by a daughter, Jeanette P. Watson of Loris, S.C.; a son, Herman Canady of the home; a sister, Daisy McCrae of Philadelphia; and two brothers, Ezekiel Gamble of Baltimore and Nathaniel Gamble of Washington, D.C.

Ellie W. Johnson

DUNN -- Ms. Ellie Louise Weaver Johnson, 86, of 604 Lucas Road died Sunday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Carter Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Weaver. Burial will be in Johnson-Bordeaux Cemetery.

Ms. Johnson is survived by a daughter, Doris Elmore of Dunn; a son, Linnie R. Johnson of Wade; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

SOMERSET, N.J. -- Mrs. Annie Lee Jacobs Williams, 92, of Somerset, formerly of Lake Waccamaw, N.C., died Friday.

Waverly Edwards

LUMBERTON -- Waverly Edwards, 64, of 40 Marion St. died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in O’Hovia AME Church in Barnesville by the Revs. Jesse Peacock and Ruth Jones. Burial will be in Marsh Branch Church cemetery in Barnesville. Arraignments are being handled by Community Funeral Home.

Mr. Edwards is survived by a son, Michael Edwards of Erie, Pa.; his mother, Mary Fincher of Buffalo, N.Y.; seven sisters; and four brothers.

Samuel E. Mitchell
(Dated Tuesday, November 2, 1999)

LAKE WACCAMAW -- Samuel Everette Mitchell, 64, of Carver Moore Road died Monday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. James Cemetery by the Rev. Graylen Mitchell. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by six sisters, Luticia M. Jacobs, Sarah Spaulding, Lila Spaulding, Mary A. Graham, Laura M. Webb and Ruby M. Campbell, all of Lake Waccamaw; and two brothers, Joseph E. Mitchell and Lewis Mitchell, both of Lake Waccamaw.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Worthington Funeral Home.

Floyd S. Ammons

ROSEBORO -- Floyd Samuel Ammons, 67, of 2086 McDaniel Road died Sunday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

Mr. Ammons was a deacon at Carr’s Chapel Freewill Holiness Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Carr’s Chapel Freewill Holiness Church by the Revs. Billy Bass, Tommy Honeycutt and Joyce Bryant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Ammons is survived by his wife, Esther B. Ammons of the home; a daughter, Lois Bass of Roseboro; two sons, Larry Ammons and Walter Ammons, both of Roseboro; two sisters, Virginia Bradshaw and Katie Autry, both of Clinton; two brothers, W. Otis Ammons and Charles D. Ammons, both of Roseboro; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Home.

Frances M. Cain

BLADENBORO -- Ms. Frances Morgan Cain, 65, of Paits Apartment No. 12D died Sunday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Lewis-Bowen Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Orborne Gibson. Burial will be in Kelly Cemetery.

Ms. Cain is survived by a son, Larry W. Cain of Chadbourn; a sister, Lona Rollins of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Johnnie Morgan of Clarkton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Larry Cain, Dan Durden Drive, Chadbourn.
