Mrs. Eva L. Johnson (dated Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997)
GIBSON -- Mrs. Eva Lockey Johnson, 79, of 8301 Fletcher Road died Monday in her home.
Mrs. Johnson retired as group leader in the spooling department of J.P. Stevens. She was a member of McColl, S.C., Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, the Eastern Star and Gibson Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Gibson Baptist Church by the Revs. Joel Perry and John Butson. Burial will be in the McCormick family cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Jo A. Scott of McColl and Sue Caviness of Gibson; a sister, Mildred Goodson of Tatum, S.C.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at McDougald Funeral Home in Laurinburg.

Miss Orell McLamb (dated Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997)
ROSEBORO -- Miss Orell McLamb of Penny Tew Mill Road died Tuesday in Mary Gran Nursing Center in Clinton.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Piney Green Baptist Church by the Rev. Dennis McDonald. Burial will be in the McLamb family cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Butler Funeral Home of Roseboro.
Miss McLamb is survived by three sisters, Durema Raynor of Roseboro, Lula Warren of Newton Grove and Geraldine Baird of Elizabethtown.
The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Mrs. Susie P. Barbour (dated Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997)
BENSON -- Mrs. Susie Pearson Barbour, 79, of 405 E. Holmes St. died Tuesday in her home.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church by the Revs. Robert Hutson and Willard Hardison. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Barbour is survived by her husband, Sheldon T. Barbour; a daughter, Carolyn Langdon of Raleigh; and one granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Rose & Graham Funeral Home.

WHITE OAK -- Mrs. Reather Dianne Rumph, 54, of 8082 N.C. 53 W. died Monday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Walter McLeod (dated Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997)
LAURINBURG -- Walter McLeod, 89, of 306 Carver St. died Saturday.
He was employed by Laurinburg Institute.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Solid Rock Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Ingram. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home of Laurinburg.
Mr. McLeod is survived by two sisters, Willie M. Quick of Laurel Hill and Lendell Matthews of Richmond, Va.; and a brother, Harry Pegues.
The family will receive friends at the home of Willie M. Quick, 8841 Old Wire Road, Laurel Hill.
Rodney Little (dated Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997)
BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Rodney Little of Brooklyn, formerly of Scotland County, N.C., died Monday.

Samuel McConnell (dated Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997)
SOUTHERN PINES -- Samuel McConnell, 88, of Southern Pines died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Powell Funeral Home and Crematory of Southern Pines.
Mr. McConnell is survived by a daughter, Darrah Opdhal of Long Green, Md.; a sister, Janet Smith of Bismarck, N.D.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
William R. Turnage (dated Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997)
DUNN -- William Rayford Turnage, infant son of Lloyd Rayford and Martha M. Turnage of Dunn, died Monday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Devotional Gardens Cemetery near Dunn by the Rev. Billy Keene.
In addition to his parents, William is survived by his paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Margie Turnage of Dunn; his maternal grandparents, Frank and Martha Murphy of Beulaville; his paternal great-grandmother, Viola Turnage of Four Oaks; and his maternal great-grandmother, Hazel Jarman of Jacksonville.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home chapel and at other times at the home of Lloyd and Margie Turnage, Route 2, Dunn.
Mrs. Alice G. Williams (dated Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997)
COATS -- Mrs. Alice Gregory Williams, 89, of Coats died Monday in Golden Years Nursing Home in Falcon.
She was a homemaker and a member of Rehobeth Primitive Baptist Church in Johnston County.
The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. today in Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home chapel in Dunn by Elders Worth Stephenson and Fred Williams. Burial will be in Stewart Cemetery near Coats.
Mrs. Williams is survived by two sons, Harold T. Williams of Angier and Stacy A. Williams of Coats; two daughters, Hazel W. Roberts of Coats and Faye W. Gautier of Benson; a sister, Selma G. Johnson of Lillington; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the home of Stacy and Judy Williams in Coats.

James McArthur Jr., 31, of 1861 Tryon Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
The funeral will be conducted at noon today in Holy Family Church in Chapel Hill by Chaplain Peter Massey-Kipp. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh. Arrangements are being handled by H.M. Colvin Funeral Home.
Mr. McArthur is survived by his father, James McArthur Sr. of Pittsburgh; his mother, Carrie L. McArthur of Fayetteville; a brother, David L. McArthur of Raleigh; a sister, Susan McArthur of Raleigh; and his paternal grandmother, Susie Bridges of Library, Penn.
Mrs. Claire A. Morin (dated Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997)
SOUTHERN PINES -- Mrs. Claire A. Morin, 74, of Southern Pines died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
A private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home and Crematory.
Mrs. Morin is survived by her husband, Paul E. Morin; a son, Paul E. Morin Jr. of Chino Hill, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

CARTHAGE -- Mrs. Celia Rosettia Diaz, 40, of Carthage died Sunday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Emmanuel Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Eugene Ussery.
Mrs. Diaz is survived by her husband, Eusebio Barcenas; three sons, Kenneth Jackson of Wagram, and Jimmy Jackson and Allen Diaz, both of Carthage; two daughters, Sandra and Charity Diaz, both of Carthage; her father, John A. Stone of Sanford; her mother, Frances Presley of Carthage; a sister, Lorette Bowman of Carthage; two brothers, J. Dillard Stone and Harold W. Presley Jr., both of Carthage; and her maternal grandmother, Bertha Hales of Carthage.
The family will receive friends Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Boles Funeral Home and Crematory in Seven Lakes and at other times at 137 Jody Road, Carthage.
Miss Ava G. Hardin (dated Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997)
FAIRMONT -- Miss Ava Gray Hardin, 60, of 708 Holly St. died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
She was a member of Proctorville Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Floyd Funeral Services chapel by the Rev. Howard Fowler. Burial will be in Hardin Cemetery.
Miss Hardin is survived by two brothers, Loddrick Hardin and William Hardin, both of Lumberton; two sisters, Navonna Hardin of Barnesville and Mattie Parham of Lumberton.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Navonna Hardin, 6652 South Creek Road, Barnesville.
Ralph E. Robinson (dated Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997)
CLINTON -- Ralph Ellis Robinson, 71, of 4271 Turkey Highway died Tuesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Mr. Robinson was a retired vice president and general manager of Triangle Motor Company. He was a veteran of the Korean war, and a member of Rowan Baptist Church and Hiram Lodge 98 AF & AM.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Rowan Baptist Church by the Rev. Gregory Day. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Jo N. Robinson of the home; two daughters, Peggy K. Dunston of Stanly and Joy Earp of Raleigh; a sister, Elizabeth Hall of Clinton; and two grandsons.
