SANFORD -- Robert Glenn Dowdy, 87, of 1107 Carthage St. died Saturday in Central Carolina Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Jim Sponenberg. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.
Mr. Dowdy is survived by his wife, Helen P. Dowdy of Sanford; a son, James Dowdy; and a sister, Mozell Lassiter of Henderson.
Willie L. Bryant (dated Monday, Nov. 17, 1997)
DUNN -- Willie London Bryant, 82, of 4751 Spring Branch Road died Sunday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital.
Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home.
Mrs. Elisabeth K. Masters (dated Monday, Nov. 17, 1997)
LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Elisabeth K. Masters, 73, of Lillington died Sunday in her home.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in Lillington United Methodist Church. A private graveside service will be held in Tennessee. Arrangements are being handled by O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.
Mrs. Masters is survived by four daughters, Renee M. Graves of Lillington, Iris Thurman and Diana Higgenbotham, both of Tennessee, and Karen Nichols of Washington; two sons, Michael Melendy of Washington and Marc Masters of Texas; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Martha E. Mangum (dated Monday, Nov. 17, 1997)
RAEFORD -- Mrs. Mrs. Martha Elois Mangum, 71, of Raeford died Friday in Coquina Center in Ormond Beach, Fla.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Crumpler Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Larry Melton. Burial will be in Raeford Cemetery.
Mrs. Mangum is survived by two daughters, Patricia M. Walker of Rome, Ga., and Carol M. Tindall of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.
Willie Ray (dated Monday, Nov. 17, 1997)
RAEFORD -- Willie Ray, 72, of 416 Magnolia St. died recently.

Kenneth J. Frost (dated Monday, Nov. 17, 1997)
LAURINBURG -- Kenneth Judson Frost, 87, of Scotia Village died Saturday in his home.
Mr. Frost was a retired professor at Richmond Community College. He was a member of the Golden K. Kiwanis Club and a Boy Scouts scoutmaster.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Wil I. Jackson. Arrangements are being handled by McDougald Funeral Home.
Mr. Frost is survived by two daughters, Deborah F. Gill of Raleigh and Lorna Frost of Tigard, Ore.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lela M. Lewis (dated Monday, Nov. 17, 1997)
CAMERON -- Mrs. Lela Mae Lewis, 60, of Route 2 died Saturday in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel in Spring Lake by the Rev. Greg Carroll. Burial will be in the Main Post Cemetery on Fort Bragg.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband, Robert L. Lewis of Cameron; a daughter, Linda G. Wyman of Lacey, Wash.; two sons, Robert L. Lewis of Spring Lake and Michael D. Lewis of Cameron; her mother, Louise G. Fodrie of Arizona; a sister, Margaret James of Arizona; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Edgar W. Britt (dated Monday, Nov. 17, 1997)
TURKEY -- Edgar Washington Britt, 97, of Turkey died Sunday in Countryside Villa in Warsaw.
He was a member of Turkey Missionary Baptist Church and a retired farmer.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Turkey Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Mack Musselwhite. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Britt is survived by a daughter, Doris B. Smith of Turkey; two sisters, Lela Wallace and Callie McLauren, both of Clinton; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton and at other times at the home of Doris B. Smith, 48 Herring St., Turkey.

Clifford Overby Sr., 79, of 4404 Blanton Road, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Autumn Care of Raeford.

Mrs. Vashti B. Allen (dated Monday, Nov. 17, 1997)
LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Vashti Baker Allen, 86, of 241 Southfield Road died Saturday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in East Lumberton Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Holden. Burial will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen is survived by three sons, Lonnie Allen Jr., Billy R. Allen and Billy Allen Jr., all of Lumberton; two daughters, Zelma Hunt and Faye R. Rivera, both of Concord; 29 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

George W. Calloway (dated Monday, Nov. 17, 1997)
MAXTON -- George Washington Calloway, 83, of Maxton died Thursday in Century Care Nursing Home in Laurinburg.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in McLeod Cemetery by the Rev. Napolean Worley. Arrangements are being handled by Worley Mortuary Service of Fairmont.
Mr. Calloway is survived by his wife, Carrie C. Calloway of the home; a brother, Samuel Calloway of Manassas, Va.; and two sisters, Martha Dews and Dorothy Payne, both of Gladys, Va.
The public will be received today from 3 to 7 p.m. at Carrie-Hester Funeral Service and at other times at 461 Croom Road, Maxton.

Mrs. Ruby Finch, 74, of 2811 Kingdom Way, Apt. 107, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Dorothy M. Maultsby, 69, of 1525 Cameron Road died Sunday.

H. Leslie Gordon (dated Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997)
WEST END -- H. Leslie Gordon, 84, of West End died Monday in his home.
Mr. Gordon was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Sandhills Lions Club and retired owner of the Red & White Grocery Store.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in West End Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dudley Crawford. Burial will be in West End Cemetery.
Mr. Gordon is survived by his wife, Nympie E. Gordon; a daughter, Janice Thompson of Sanford; a son, Robert Gordon of Carthage; a sister, Geneva Gordon of Pinehurst; and four grandchildren.

LAURINBURG -- Ernest David Morton, 68, of 105 Rosemary Lane died Sunday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.
He was a retired water plant operator.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Salem Emmanuel Holiness Church by the Rev. Luther Powell. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.
Mr. Morton is survived by his wife, Annie D. Morton; three sons, Ronald Morton of McColl, S.C., Danny Morton of Wagram and Gregory Morton of Laurinburg; three daughters, Janice Britt and Judy McCormick, both of Laurinburg, and Phyllis Szwaja of Laurel Hill; two brothers, Burnice Morton of Monroe and Steve Morton of Laurinburg; two sisters, Retha Williams and Esther Wallace, both of Laurinburg; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

ANGIER -- Mrs. Catherleen Cofield Jones, 68, of 300 Church St. died Monday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.

HENDERSON -- Floyd Filindol Fletcher Jr., 69, of Henderson died Friday.

Among Mr. Fletcher’s survivors is a son, Steven F. Fletcher of Laurinburg.

GRAY’S CREEK -- Ms. Cinthy Anne Whitaker, 40, of Route 30, Box 164-H, Butler Nursery Road, died Sunday.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home chapel in Hope Mills by the Rev. Gary Strickland. Burial will be in Adcox Cemetery.
Ms. Whitaker is survived by a daughter, Heather Hall of Gray’s Creek; three sons, Kenny Hall Jr., Fred Dewinells and Sean Hall, all of Gray’s Creek; her mother, Shirley Willis of Gray’s Creek; her step-father, Daniel Willis of Gray’s Creek; and a sister, Debra Reed of Raeford.
