MABLE JONES MOORE
AULANDER -- Mable Jones Moore, 87, of Route 1, died March 4, 1999, in Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie. Mrs. Moore was born in Bertie County and was a member of Ahoskie United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and the widow of Oscar Clifton Moore.
Survivors include a daughter, Eileen M. Burden of Ahoskie; a son, Richard M. Moore of Fenton, MO; three grandchildren, William D. Burden III of Ahoskie, Kim Levenhaege of St. Louis, MO, Susie Powers of Baltimore, MD; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Jerry Cribb. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to Aulander Rescue Squad, Aulander, NC, 27805, or to Ahoskie Rescue Squad, Ahoskie, NC 27910.
Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie is handling arrangements.

J. GRAHAM POLLOCK JR
GATESVILLE -- Joseph Graham Pollock, Jr., 56, of New York, NY and Gatesville, NC, died Thursday, March 4, 1999 in Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, NC.
The son of the late Joseph Graham, Sr. and Mrs. Lucy Gatling Pollock, he was a graduate of St. Christopher's School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his M.F.A. from the Yale School of Drama. An actor who entertained and delighted audiences at the Lost Colony, the Playmakers Theatre, and the East Carolina Summer Theatre, his successful career included numerous commercials as well as leading roles at The Allenberry Playhouse in Pennsylvania and the national touring companies of "1776" and "Big River". In the Broadway production of "Big River" he played the role of "Pap Finn". He was a member of Actors Equity and the Screen Actors Guild.
Surviving are his sister, Clarine Gatling Pollock Powell, and her husband, Robert J. Powell, III, of Greenville, NC; nephews, Robert Jackson Powell, IV, Graham Pollock Powell, and John Gatlilng Powell; and a niece, Catherine Gant Powell.
A graveside service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Gatesville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 3-4:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and on Sunday at the residence until time for services.

DOLLIE MASSEY PUCKETT
ZEBULON -- Dollie Massey Puckett, 80, 4568 Massey Road, Zebulon, NC died Friday, March 5, 1999. Funeral 3 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 1999 at Union Hope Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Massey Family Cemetery on Massey Road, Zebulon, NC.
Surviving: sons, Stewart Mark Puckett and Johnny Max Puckett both of Zebulon; sisters, Ava Pearce, Lennie Driver and Claudia Brantley all of Zebulon; a grandchild, Cody Leigh Puckett of Spring Hope, NC.
Visitation, Saturday night 7 till 9 p.m. at Family Funeral Care, 1201 North Arendell Ave., Zebulon, NC 269-9377.

A. DEREK ROUSE
TOPSAIL ISLAND -- A. Derek Rouse, 34, formerly of Raleigh, died suddenly at his home February 20, 1999.
Derek is survived by his parents, David and Glenda Rouse of Topsail Island; brother, Jimmy Rouse; one niece, Lindsey Rouse; grandfather, William Massengill, all of Raleigh.

BETTY J. PEGG SHANLEY
RALEIGH -- Betty June Pegg Shanley, 75, of 11209 Trescott Court, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999 in Rex Hospital. She attended White Memorial Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chauncey Addison Pegg and Beatrice Palmer Pegg Garner and husband, Milton Maxwell Shanley Sr.
Surviving: son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. M. Maxwell Shanley, Jr. of Wheeling, WV; daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. William (Stephanie) Lestini of Raleigh; brothers, Larry Garner of Zanesville, OH, Thomas Garner of Glen Dale, WV; grandchildren, Bronson Maxwell and Ann Palmer Shanley, both of Wheeling, WV, Elizabeth Shanley Lestini and Lysandra Palmer Lestini, both of Raleigh; several nieces and nephews.
Christian service and burial were held in Wheeling, West Virginia.
A memorial service will be held 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 1999 at White Memorial Presbyterian Church with Dr. Arthur Ross, III officiating.

LYDIA GERMANN WHITE
APEX -- Lydia Germann White, 88, of 201 West High St., Cary, and formerly of Morrisville, died early, March 5, 1999 at Western Wake Hospital due to an extended illness.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morrisville and was preceded in death by her husband, William A. White Jr., in 1990.
Funeral service will be held Sunday March 7, 1999 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Morrisville, by Rev. Myron Yandle and Rev. O.T. Hooks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors are: two sons, Paul J. White and wife, Marian of Apex, W.A. White III and wife, Doris of Cary; two daughters, Carolyn Kirby and husband, Robert of Shelby, Alma Jean Hasting of Orlando, Florida; five grandsons; eight granddaughters, and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to missions through the First Baptist Church of Morrisville, P.O. Box 89, Morrisville, N.C. 27560.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 1999 at Apex Funeral Home, 511 West Williams St. (Hwy. 55), Apex, N.C.; and other times at the home of Paul and Marian White, 1612 U.S. Hwy. 64, Apex, N.C.

T. MARSHALL WOOTEN
FALKLAND -- T. Marshall Wooten, 81, died Thursday, March 4, 1999 at his home near Falkland.
The funeral service will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Falkland Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jean Ganzel. Burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park, Greenville.
Mr. Wooten, a native of the Falkland community of Pitt County, was a graduate of Fountain High School and North Carolina State University in Raleigh. He lived in Baltimore, Maryland for over 30 years where he was employed as a chemist at the U.S. Army Chemical Center. After his retirement in 1975, he returned to Falkland. He was a member of the Falkland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, church treasurer, and sang in the choir.
Mr. Wooten was preceded in death by his brothers, Dan K. Wooten and Woodrow W. Wooten.
He is survived by: sisters, Louise W. Marston of Greenville and Sarah W. Register of Raleigh; brothers, Atlas W. Wooten and Willard M. Wooten, both of Falkland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Atlas W. Wooten, 4565 NC Hwy. 43 North, Falkland.
Memorial contributions may be made to Falkland Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 28, Falkland, NC 27827.

FAYE ABELL McCARTHY
CHAPEL HILL -- Faye Abell McCarthy, 64, died Sunday, March 21, 1999 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill, following a lengthy, courageous battle against cancer and concomitant treatments. Mrs. McCarthy was born in Smithfield, NC, on August 7, 1934, to Dixie Johnson and Edward Abell, both deceased. Her paternal grandfather was Edward S. Abell, a prominent Johnston County attorney.
She attended Smithfield schools and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill cum laude, with majors in Journalism and French. Mrs. McCarthy subsequently spent many years as a television production assistant, most notably with the "Jackie Gleason Show" in New York and Miami, and with "The Garry Moore Show" along with staff positions at the NBC Network. After leaving television, she worked as a Real Estate Broker in Kure Beach, NC.
She is survived by cousins, Jean Brewer Downing of Naples, FL, Jean and William Israel of Wilson, NC and Mrs. George Doak of Chapel Hill, NC; and her lifelong companion, Robert Dowling of Raleigh.
Graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Smithfield, NC on Thursday, March 25. Arrangements by Underwood Funeral Service.

STEPHANIE RENEE ROBERSON
RALEIGH -- Funeral service for Stephanie Renee Roberson, 33, of Raleigh, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Capital Pentecostal Holiness Church, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

JUANITA REARDON BOLTON
BUIES CREEK -- Juanita Reardon Bolton, 89, of Buies Creek, died Sunday. She was from Harnett County and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Alexander Bolton and also a son Edward Bolton.
Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 1999 at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel with Rev. Michael Simmons officiating. Burial, Buies Creek Cemetery.
Visitation, 6:30-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 22, 1999 at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Howard Memorial Fund, c/o Barry Howard, Box 456, Buies Creek, NC 27506.
Surviving: two grandchildren, Rebecca Smith and Juanita Hart; special family, Tommy, Connie, and Jessica Wood.

MARY WEBB GRIGGS DAVIS
RALEIGH -- Funeral services for Mary Webb Griggs Davis, of Raleigh, who died Thursday, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from Edenton Street United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.

CLEAMON PERRY FAULKNER
KNIGHTDALE -- Cleamon Perry Faulkner, 68, of 229 Whitfield Street, died Saturday, March 20, 1999. Clem was a graduate of DeFry Institute of Electronics in Chicago, Illinois. Clem served four years in the US Navy from 1948 to 1952. Clem retired from the US Air Force in 1970 after which he moved back to Raleigh. Clem was born and raised in Franklin County and attended Gold Sand High School and graduated in 1953.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 1999 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Peter Burgess officiating. Entombment in Oakwood Cemetery Mausoleum.
Surviving: wife, Bettye Brooks Weldon Faulkner; daughter, Sharon Faulkner Matthews and her husband Ronald of Knightdale; mother, Bertha Smith Murray of IHS Nursing Home of Raleigh; grandchildren, Kathleen "Katie" Paige Harkins, Ethan Perry Matthews, and Jessica Ann Matthews all of Knightdale; brothers, Ralph Faulkner and his wife Betty Jean Goodson Faulkner of Raleigh, Morris Murray, Jr. and his wife Sylvia Hunt Murray of Raleigh; sisters, Florene Murray Jones and her husband Colon Jones, Sr. of Raleigh, Nellie Murray Ayscue of Louisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Faulkner was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Doris Faulkner, July 15, 1986.
The Faulkner family will receive relatives and friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, March 22, 1999 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 and other times at the home.

C. DIXON HAMILTON
JULY 20, 1919 - MARCH 21, 1999
FOUR OAKS -- Funeral service for C. Dixon Hamilton will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Smithfield Primitive Baptist Church conducted by Elder Worth Stephenson and Elder Tony Parker.
Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Dixon was the maintenance supervisor for the Johnston county school system for 35 years.
Surviving: wife, Christine P. Hamilton; son Fred W. Hamilton of Smithfield, stepsons, Vernon Thompson and Terry Thompson, both of Four Oaks, Marty Thompson of Ayden; stepdaughter, Sharon Kennedy of Four Oaks; brothers, Bobby Hamilton of Smithfield, Hunter Hamilton of Chesterfield, Virginia and Chester Hamilton of Clayton; sisters, Pearl Hines and Bessie Blan of Smithfield; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Underwood Funeral Home in Smithfield, Monday from 7-9 p.m.

PRESTON HIGH
RALEIGH -- Preston Earl "French Fry" High of 713 Van Buren Rd., died Friday, March 19, 1999.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday at Haywood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Roann M. High; daughters, Priscilla R. High and Vickie R. High, both of Raleigh, and Sarah H. Morgan of Raleigh; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
Family visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
