HAZEN -- Laura M. Sailer, 104, Apple Valley, Minn., formerly of Hazen, died April 28, 1997, in Apple Valley. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. MDT Friday at Hazen Cemetery. Further arrangements are pending at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.

Harvey Monson
ALEXANDER -- Harvey Owen Monson, 87, Alexander, died April 27, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Alexander. Further arrangements are pending at Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

John Schneider
Memorial services for John G. Schneider, 43, Reno, Nev., will be held at St. Mary's Church in Bismarck in mid July. He died May 3,1997, of heart failure.

John was born June 18, 1953, to Henry and Margaret Schneider in Bismarck. He graduated from St. Mary's High School and received his masters degree from the University of Mary. As a young man he belonged to a 4-H Club and began playing the organ at St. Mary's Church at age 12.

He was a member of and soloist for Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus. He sang for many weddings and funerals in the Bismarck area.

John taught at St. Ann's School and was a teacher, principal and parish liturgical director at St. Mary's in Bismarck. He was then a teacher, principal and parish liturgical director in Boise and Twin Falls, Idaho, and Longview, Wash.

He is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Colleen and Robert Mills, North Hollywood, Calif., and Ellen and John Nelson, Warden, Wash.; one niece; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ralph Heidt
Ralph J. Heidt, 89, Sacramento, Calif., formerly of North Dakota, died April 27, 1997, in Sacramento. Services were held May 3 at First Southern Baptist Church, West Sacramento.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; one daughter, Darlene Silbernagel; one son, Kenneth; and five sisters, Mary Fowler, Tillie Koch, Ottilia Cinder, Beatta Schwartz and Frances Keene.

Alberta Wheeler
Services for Alberta Worst Wheeler, Wisconsin, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Eau Clair, Wis. She died May 8, 1997.

She attended River View Country School and worked at Will Seed Store in Bismarck. She moved to Racine, Wis., in 1937. She married Fred Wheeler in 1941.

She is survived by three sisters.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

B.Q. Barnes
MINOT -- B.Q. "Barney" Barnes, 72, Minot, died May 8, 1997, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, with burial in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

He is survived by two sons, Dennis, Bismarck, and Ordell, Ham Lake, Minn.; two daughters, Julie Kakac, Chaska, Minn., and LaRae Miller, California; one brother, Stanley, Silver Bay, Minn. (Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot)

Emerson Chase
MANDAREE -- Services for Emerson Chase, 69, Mandaree, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Mandaree High School, with burial at Chase Ranch.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; one son, Manuel, Mandaree; three daughters, Josie Chase, Mandaree, Gayle Chase, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Trudy Chase, Mandaree; one brother, Joe, Loveland, Colo.; and two sisters, JoAnne Hutchinson, Walla Walla, Wash., and Carmen Carroll, Portland, Ore. Bernice Barland
COLEHARBOR -- Bernice Amelia Barland, 75, Coleharbor, died May 7, 1997, in her home after a long illness. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Edwin's Catholic Church, Washburn, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.

She is survived by her husband, Leroy; one son, Joseph, Hazen; two daughters, Janice Barland, Coleharbor, and Margaret Stadick, Beulah; one sister, Vivian Hibbing, Denver; and two brothers, Leroy Bennett, Poway, Calif., and William Bennett, Beulah. (Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn)

Jack Teply
Jack A. Teply, 41, 4510 W. Roundup Road, died May 9, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Eva Ehresmann
DICKINSON -- Eva C. Ehresmann, 77, Dickinson, died May 8, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in the church cemetery.

Eva is survived by her husband, John; one son, John, Dickinson; two daughters, Barbara Ehresmann, Remalp, Ala., and Kathleen Ward, Fairfax, Va.; two sisters, Margaret Sadler, Fargo, and Pauline Cherney, Lefor; and two brothers, Joseph, White Haven, Pa., and Vernon, New Lebanon, Ohio. Lorenzo Martin
CROOKSTON, Minn. -- Lorenzo L. Martin, 85, Crookston, formerly of Douglas, N.D., died May 8, 1997, at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Crookston.

He is survived by his wife, Marian; and three daughters, Sharon Schlosser, Bismarck, Constance Gulseth, Rolette, and Kathryn Larson, Folsom, Calif. (Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston)

Lois Heimer
Lois Heimer, 87, formerly of Flasher, died May 8, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MDT Monday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Flasher, with the Rev. Paul Heiderich officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. CDT Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Lois Wiebers was born Oct. 18, 1909, in Flasher, the daughter of William and Maude (Coffield) Wiebers. She was raised and educated in Flasher. She married John Heimer Oct. 31, 1933, in Flasher. They lived on a farm near Flasher before moving into town. John had carpentry interests in town, and Lois stayed at home to raise their family. Lois enjoyed crafts and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Beth, Long Beach, Calif., and Robert and Gloria, Seattle; six daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Ervin Urbaniak, Seattle, Bertha and Gerald Nolty, Belton, Texas, Pearl and Dave Haskins, Wichita, Kan., Marilyn and Dale Deering, Seattle, Dorothy and James Bower, Hazelton, and Shirley and Wayne Pipins, Woodward, Okla.; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Adella Berger, and Wilda and Leo Zuger, all of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and one brother, Albert, Van Nuys, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons; one daughter; one grandson; four brothers; and two sisters.

Harlow Haverkamp
Harlow "Hank" Haverkamp, 67, Mandan, died May 8, 1997, in the New Salem nursing home where he had been a resident for one year. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Richard Hagestuen officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Harlow was born Jan. 31, 1930, at Ogema, Minn., the son of Herman and Mary (Cluckey) Haverkamp. He was raised and educated in Ogema. Harlow moved to North Dakota in 1950. On Nov. 18, 1951, he married Lillian Brunmeier in Zap. Harlow was employed as a control room operator for Heskett Power Station in Mandan from 1957 to 1988. Harlow served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1957 and later joined the U.S. Army Reserves, serving until 1960. He had been a resident of Mandan since 1953.

He was a former member of American Legion, Moose, Eagles and VFW.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Harriet and Michael Booke, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Donna and Jim Mellmer, Mandan; four grandchildren, Chris and Sarah Booke, and Erin and Jason Mellmer; three brothers, Willie, Minneapolis, Arthur, Hibbing, Minn., and Ervin, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; and six sisters, Ora Peterson, Fargo, Marie Heinen and Mildred Brandt, both of Detroit Lakes, Evie DeVoe, Polson, Mont., Rita Brekke, Elbow Lake, Minn., and Joy Ann Jerdee, Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian, who died March 31, 1989; two brothers, Ivan and Larry; and one sister, Melverna.

Joseph Buechler
Joseph Buechler, 68, Hague, died May 8, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hague, with the Rev. Leonard Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A rosary will be said at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Joseph was born Dec. 20, 1928, at Hague, the son of John and Barbara (Ell) Buechler. He attended Hague Public School. On Oct. 12, 1953, he married Charlotte Hulm at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hague. They lived on the John Buechler homestead, where they farmed for many years. Joe worked for the past 18 years at Central Dakota Hospital Laundry in Bismarck. He loved fishing, gardening and carpentry. Joe had a great love for his family, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Knights of Columbus for 37 years.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Terry and Lanel, Dickinson, Kevin, Keith and Debbie, and Mark and his friend, Leigh, all of Bismarck; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Karen and Glenn Brown, Grants Pass, Ore., Sharon Van Beek, Huntington Beach, Calif., Cindy and Bob Schumacher, and Arlene and Victor Meier, all of Zeeland, and Cheryl and John Salwei, Bismarck; 19 grandchildren; twin great-granddaughters; one brother, Adam, Hague; two sisters, Ann Havemann, Hague, and Frances Eberle, Bloomer, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and five sisters.

Jack Teply
Jack A. Teply, 41, 4510 W. Roundup Road, died May 9, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Huron, S.D. on Tuesday.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Jack was born May 9, 1956, at Huron, to Charles W. and Helen (Rahder) Teply. He was raised and graduated from Wolsey High School in 1974. He worked in Huron and Wolsey. He married Debra Kohnen in 1974. Jack moved to Dickinson in 1980 and was co-owner of Eastend Auto Parts there. He was also employed as an insurance adjuster in the Jamestown and Dickinson areas. He moved to Bismarck in 1991. Jack married Shirley Fetzer Fettig, Nov. 28, 1992, in Bismarck. He worked for Pella Window in Bismarck as a sales and service representative until being stricken with cancer in October 1995.

A "Jack" of all trades, he had a passion for GTOs. A loving husband and father, Jack loved life and lived it to the fullest.

He was a member of the GTO Car Club and Calgary Methodist Church, and enjoyed playing softball.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; one daughter, Josephine Teply, Conway, Ark.; three sons, Matthew, Memphis, Tenn., and Nathan and Jacob, both of Conway; his parents, Charles and Helen Teply, Wolsey; one sister and brother-in-law, Charleen and Larry Anderson, Omaha, Neb.; one brother, William, Bismarck; one niece, Angela Teply, Huron; one nephew, Kyle Anderson, Omaha; and one stepson, Ryan Fettig, Bismarck.

Frank Brazda
Frank C. Brazda, 93, Mandan, died May 9, 1997, in his home. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Richard Hagestuen officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue one hour before services at the church.

Frank was born April 22, 1904, on the family homestead near Fort Clark, the son of Vincent and Maria (Cermack) Brazda. He attended grade school there and then attended Mandan High School. He married Gladys Johnson, Sept. 6, 1928, in Center. He was a grain buyer and managed the Fort Clark Elevator for many years until 1956. He and Gladys had purchased the Brazda family homestead which they farmed until their retirement. They moved to Mandan in 1987.

Frank was a member of First Lutheran Church in Mandan, a lifetime member of Mandan Elks and a member of the Isaac Walton League. He also served on the Fort Clark School Board. An avid hunter and fisherman, Frank was among the first to raise wild turkeys, as well as pheasants, in Oliver County.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Markel, Josephine Cogan, Eva Cooper and Emma DeCamp; and two brothers, Anton and John.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Oliver County Historical Society.

L. David Schmitt
DICKINSON -- L. David Schmitt, 48, Manning, died May 9, 1997, at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Monday at River of Life Assembly Church, Dickinson, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; three sons, Corey, Dickinson, and Todd and Jeremy, both at home; two daughters, Amanda and Jessica, both at home; his mother, Christine, Dickinson; one brother, Peter, Manning; and three sisters, Kathy Kadrmas, Dickinson, Mary Springer, Green River, Wyo., and Martha Knopik, Belfield. Jesse Cota
Jesse Mitchell Cota, the infant son of Dean and Denise Cota, was born and died May 9, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Boelter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

He is survived by his parents; one sister, Kaytlyn; his grandparents, Bill and Kathy Jacobs, Bismarck, Lynette and Larry Rafferty, Richardton, and Gary and Darla Cota, Dickinson; and his great-grandmothers, Alice Jacobs, Noonan, Lela Cota, Dickinson, and Violet Gleason, Granville; several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Clinton Carlson
Clinton C. Carlson, 69, 2001 Assumption Drive, died May 10, 1997, in his home. Arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.

Reuben Buchholz
Reuben Buchholz, 71, Bismarck, died May 9, 1997, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lehr United Methodist Church, with burial in Lehr Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Della Mae; one son, Gary, Buffalo, Mont.; one daughter, Bonnie Charlesworth, Brighton, Colo.; and two brothers, Art, Jamestown, and Delbert, Gwinner. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek)

Agnes Burchill
GRAND FORKS -- Agnes G. Burchill, 82, Grand Forks, died April 20, 1997, in Mesa, Ariz. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, with burial in Sunnywood Gardens, Grand Forks.

She is survived by her husband, Victor; two sons, Carl, Clovis, Calif., and Alan, Hudson, Wis.; and two sisters, Mariann Weydahl and Norine Boen, both of Minot. (Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks)
