Elmer "Hoke" Wilson
SCOTTSBLUFF — Elmer "Hoke" Wilson, 87, of Scottsbluff, died Oct. 9, 1999, at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at First Assembly of God in Scottsbluff with pastor Robert Conner officiating. Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Friends my call 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until noon on Wednesday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. A memorial has been established to the First Assembly God Church in Scottsbluff.

He was born Dec. 30, 1911, in Holbrook to Alfred and Nina (Williams) Wilson, he was the sixth of ten children. He married Wilma Jamison in Harrisburg on May 31, 1937. He farmed in the valley and also worked at Great Western during the campaign season. In February of 1953 he moved to Scottsbluff and was employed by Curry Chemical which later become Simplot Soilbuilders, retiring after 25 years of service. Then he volunteered his time at the Scottsbluff Nursing Home calling bingo. While a member of the Panhandle Saddle Club, he participated in the reenactment of the Pony Express centennial with his son, Galen in 1960.

He enjoyed his family, traveling, wood working and socializing with his friends at Baily’s Cafe.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma of Scottsbluff; daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Milt West of Scottsbluff; Sherryl Green of Gering; Tami and Mike Leis of Scottsbluff; brothers Ben and Jesse Wilson of Scottsbluff; grandchildren Cullen West of Laughlin, Nv.; Jenny Schuller of Lincoln, Neb.; Brandi Sayre of Scottsbluff; Nikki Green of Gering; Brittany Leis of Scottsbluff; Jordan Leis of Scottsbluff; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Green of Scottsbluff; Megan Schuller of Lincoln; Justin Cervantes of Gering.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Mavis Wilson; son Galen Wilson; five sisters, Alice Batchelor; Violet Casson; Alberta Cooper; Marcella Pollet; Jane Schilling; and two brothers, W. A. Wilson and Gene Wilson.

James L. Easton
James L. Easton, 65, of Lincoln, formerly of Lyman, died Monday, October 11, 1999 at a Lincoln hospital. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 14, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the Jones Mortuary Chapel in Mitchell with the Rev. Jerry L. Mercer officiating. Burial will be at the Mitchell Cemetery. Visitation will be today from noon to 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family.

He was born March 7, 1934 in Morrill to Steven and Amelia (Kosofkaski) Easton. He was a retired salesman.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Keith of Lincoln, Rod and Gail of Palmyra, Grant and Paula of Baxter Springs, Kan.; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Jeff Halvorsen of Eagle; sisters, Helen Rukavina of Lyman, Nettie Filbert of Lincoln, Rose Hort of Lyman, Pauline Leonhardt of Riverton, Wyo., Annie Loveland of Torrington, Wyo., Eileen Hardin of Gering, Phyllis and Jess Nelson of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Christine Easton of Lyman; eight grandchildren; and 24 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Stanley and Alex.

Scott L. Hebbert
CHADRON — Scott L. Hebbert, 43, died Monday, Oct. 11, at his home in Chadron. Funeral services will
be at 10 a.m. Wednesday Oct. 13 at Berean Fundamental Church with the Rev. Daniel Willliams officiating.

Burial will be at Whitney Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Berean Fundamental Church or the hospice. Donations may be sent to Community First Bank of Chadron. Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.

He was born March 14, 1956, in Chadron to Myron and Doris Hebbert. He was affiliated with the Dawes County 4-H Club, Farm Bureau Citrus Coordinator for 25 years and Berean Fundamental Church and Men’s Fellowship.

His survivors include his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and George Sands of Belton, Mo.; aunts, Florence Stamler of San Lorenzo, N.M., Ruth Little of Rapid City, S.D., and Lois Lapp of New Underwood, S.D., one nephew, Benjamin; one niece, Mary; and a host of friends and relatives.

Dorothy ‘Dottie’ L. Heinrich
GERING — Dorothy "Dottie" L. Heinrich, 73, of Gering, died Oct. 12, 1999 at the Beverly Health Care Center.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Gering Memorial Chapel.

Josephine Hinman
BRIDGEPORT — Josephine Hinman, 84, of Bridgeport, died Oct. 4, 1999, at Heritage of Bridgeport.

A memorial graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 1999 at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. James Kidd officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be given to the Presbyterian Church. Christensen-Bridgeport Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may sign the register book Thursday and Friday, Oct. 14 and 15 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Bridgeport Memorial Chapel.

She was born Oct. 6, 1914 in Sioux County to Loring C. and Cliffie (Covalt) Robinson. She received her education at Loon Lake, Wash., schools and graduated from Hot Springs, S.D., in 1933. She married William Hinman Oct. 22, 1947 at Dalton. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and she served as a card chairperson for the Presbyterian Women’s Association for many years. She was secretary for the Sunday school at Berea and helped with Bible school at Berea and Lisco. She loved reading her Bible and read many books weekly until her sight failed her. She had a great interest in genealogy and wrote many poems, one of which was published. She was "Grandma Jo" to the first grade in 1990 and had a large stamp collection. She enjoyed all activities at Heritage. She did a lot of crocheting and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her sister, Francis Collins of Manderson, Wyo.; several nieces and nephews, including Harvey Collins of Cody, Wyo., and Lucille Powell of Bridgeport; sisters-in-law, Mable McIrvin of Bridgeport and Edna Davis of Grand Junction, Colo.; brother-in-law, Harvey Hinman of Moses Lake, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, and her parents.

Orlena L. Rafferty
BAYARD — A funeral for Orlena Lydia Rafferty, 88, of Bayard, who died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at Colorado Springs, Colo., is pending at the Jolliffe Funeral Home at Bridgeport.

Judy Margaret Reed
SCOTTSBLUFF — Judy Margaret Reed, 68, of Scottsbluff, died Oct. 11, 1999, at her home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Valley Bible Church in Scottsbluff with the Rev. Kurt England officiating. Internment will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Park in Sterling, Colo., with the Rev. LeRoy Pickering officiating. A memorial has been established to the family.

Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel between 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday.

She was born Dec. 27, 1930, in Boulder, Colo., to James Cecil and Martha Elizabeth (Hull) Cline. She attended school in Boulder and married Earl J. Reed June 11, 1947, in Boulder. They lived in several places in Colorado before she moved to Scottsbluff in 1987.

She was a member of the Valley Bible Church in Scottsbluff.

Survivors include her children, Peggy Lintner of Sterling, Colo., Sharon Reed of Riverton, Wyo., Earl James Reed, Jr., of Sterling, Colo.; Melody Marrufo of Riverton, Wyo., Carroll Reed of Pueblo, Colo., Shirley Mitchell of Sterling, Colo., Starla Reed of Mitchell and Lisa Murphy of Scottsbluff; brother, Phillip Cline of Texas; sister, Frances Ilanson of Rocklin, Calif.; grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one great grandson.

David C. Weller, Jr.
SCOTTSBLUFF — David C. Weller, 57, of Scottsbluff, died Oct. 11, 1999 at his home. He was cremated and memorial services will be Thursday, October 14, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff, with the Rev. Wayne Alloway officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Jolliffe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born October 7, 1942, in North Lawrence, Ohio, to David Sr., and Minnie (Glazer) Weller. He grew up and received his education and graduated from high school there. He served with the United States Army from 1960 until 1965 in Germany, Ft. Lewis, Wash., and Ft. Knox, Kentucky. After his discharge, he lived in Ohio for a year. On October 6, 1967, he married Isabell E. Barnum at Ogallala. He made his home in North Platte where he worked for T.F. Allen, Inc. as a masonry contractor. He moved to Scottsbluff in 1979, and continued working for T.F. Allen as an asbestos removal project designer. He had worked for the same company for over 25 years. He most recently worked as a US Mail contracted truck driver.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in North Platte and was a member of the AARP.

He is survived by wife, Isabell E. Weller of Scottsbluff; sons, Anthony L.J. Weller and Shane L.R. Weller, both of Scottsbluff and Kenneth M. Weller of Gering; mother, Minnie Weller of North Lawrence, Ohio; brothers, William Weller, Donald Weller, Frank Weller and Larry Weller, all of Canton, Ohio, and Tom Weller of Brewster, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Dave Schnell

ALLIANCE — Dave Schnell, 84, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Alliance.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alliance. The Revs. Martin T. Schnare and Richard C. Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 715, Alliance, Neb., 69301 or to Good Samaritan Health Care Center, P.O. Box 970, Alliance, Neb., 69301.

Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Feb. 22, 1915, at Minatare to E. George and Eva E. (Reich) Schnell. He married Edna W. Bauer on Nov. 26, 1933, at Harrisburg.

They moved to Alliance in 1946 and he farmed north of Alliance until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Edna; children, Shirley Varilek of Fremont, Marilyn Schoeneman of Alliance, Jerry Schnell of Alliance and Joyce Galyen of Alliance; brothers, Conrad and Pete Schnell of Alliance and Henry Schnell of Gainseville, Fla.; sisters, Eva Merrigan of Scottsbluff and Mary Heinz of Scottsbluff; half-brothers, John Schnell, Edward Schnell and Robert Schnell, all of Florida; and half-sisters, Judy Jacobs of Canada and Ruth Todd and Alvina Schnell of Florida.

He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one great-grandson, Michael Conroy. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Keith L. Seip

SCOTTSBLUFF — Keith L. Seip, 75, of Scottsbluff, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at a Scottsbluff care facility. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Plymouth Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Rev. Jay Warren officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park at Scottsbluff with military honors provided by Admiral Dewey Post #1681.

A memorial to the church has been established.

Friends may call the Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, and 9a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday.

He was born Nov. 12, 1923, to Fay and Cora (Mefford) Seip and he received his education in the Scottsbluff school system and graduated from high school in 1941. In October of 1942, he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific area. On Dec. 7, 1944, he was aboard the USS Ward when it was sunk by a Japanese Kamakzee plane. The USS Ward was the destroyer that fired the first shot of WWII in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in November of 1945. While serving on the USS Ward, the ship received the Presidential Unit Citation.On April 28, 1945, he married Betty Krull in Long Beach, Calif.He was involved in farming with his father and in 1941, was the Nebraska Potato Judging Champion, and for that, He was given a trip to Texas and Mexico. In 1969, he stated working for the Scotts Bluff County Weed Control under Warren Scoggan. When Warren retired, Keith became the Superintendent. He worked for the county for 17 years. He retired in 1986 to care for his parents and oversee the farm.

Keith was a member of the church where he served on the Board of Trustees and served several terms, and was also a deacon for two terms. He also served on the Plymouth Foundation Board for three years. He was an active handyman at the church as long as his health permitted, doing anything that needed to be done. He was a member of the VFW since 1946, and was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. He also served as a director on the Roosevelt Public Power Board for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty; son and daughter-in-law Galen and Julia Seip of Scottsbluff; daughter Diona Copsey of Guernsey, Wyo.; grandchildren and spouses Daren and Elaine Seip of Alliance, Lori (Copsey) and John Warner, Amy (Copsey) and Cody Solomon all of Guernsey, Andee (Seip) and Troy Hardesty, and Christine (Bay) and Phil Darely all of Scottsbluff. 12 great-grandchildren and a lifetime of good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was loved by everyone who knew him.

Robert Hilton Boykin

SCOTTSBLUFF — Robert Hilton Boykin, 87, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home in Scottsbluff. A Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home Chapel in Scottsbluff with Rev. Wayne Alloway officiating. A funeral service will also be held at the O’Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at 2 p.m. Central Standard Time with Rev. Dr. Ron Roemmich officiating. Interment will be at Prairie Center Cemetery at Havens Chapel. Friends who wish may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home today from noon to 9 p.m., and at the funeral services. A memorial has been established to the Western Nebraska Veterans Home.

Conrad ‘Con’ Green

BRIDGEPORT — Conrad "Con" Green, 79, of Bridgeport, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at his home. A funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeport with the Reverend Barry Warpness officiating. Interment will be in Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport. Memorials have been established to the church or the Bridgeport Rescue Unit. Friends may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 1 to 9 p.m. and at the Funeral.

He was born Dec. 6, 1919, at Scottsbluff, the son of Conrad and Kathrine (Hohnstein) Green. He attended school at Victory Hill north of Scottsbluff. He was united in marriage to Florine Hilzer, Feb. 24, 1941 at Scottsbluff. They farmed in the Minatare area for 21 years and seven years in the Bayard area before moving to their farm near Bridgeport in 1969.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and had served on various church boards. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and bowling. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his granddaughters participate in Bridgeport school activities.

Survivors include his wife Florine; son and daughter-in-law Terry and Terri Green of Bridgeport; granddaughters Stacey, Holly and Marci Green all of Bridgeport; sister Helen Andrews of Scottsbluff; brothers and sisters-in-law Henry and Sheila Green and George and Leona Green all of Minatare.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Donald and Larry Green; sisters Mary Reichert, Anna Aschenbrenner and Katherine Reib.

Harold M. Jessop

KIMBALL — Harold M. Jessop, 91, formerly of Pine Bluffs, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at the Kimball County Manor. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at the Pine Bluffs Baptist Church in Pine Bluffs, Wyo. Pastor Ron Rimby will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Bluffs Cemetery. Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. Memorial gifts may be made to the Pine Bluffs Baptist Church.

He was born on Sept. 5, 1908, in Anamosa, Iowa to Phillip Lettic and Ottie Elma (Evertson) Jessop. His family came to Nebraska from Iowa in 1915 and farmed northwest of Kimball. He attended school in Kimball County and graduated from Kimball High School. In 1928 he moved to the Lindberg, Wyo., area where he farmed. He and Olga Sophia Onigkeit were married in Kimball on Aug. 26, 1933. She died on Jan. 13, 1988.

He farmed in the Lindberg area until his retirement in 1972 and moved into Pine Bluffs. He moved to the Kimball Manor in 1996.

He was a member of the Lindberg Church and then later a member of the Pine Bluffs Baptist Church. He had served his churches in a number of capacities. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Pine Bluffs and even before moving to the Kimball Manor, he had done various volunteer activities at the Manor. He was active in the Pine Bluffs community and had served on various boards and committees. One of his hobbies was building miniature windmills to scale.

He is survived by his son Howard Wayne Jessop and his wife Elaine of Pine Bluffs, Wyo.; four grandchildren Randy Jessop and his wife Nancy, Carmen Roth and her husband Mark, Beth Klinginsmith and her husband David and Joyce Boothe and her husband Ricky; nine great- grandchildren Trystin Green, Brittin Jessop, Shawna Roth, Chelsey Roth, April Klinginsmith, Cheri Klinginsmith, Daniel Klinginsmith, Ryan Klinginsmith and Cally Boothe; and one great-great-grandson Anthony Green.

He was preceded in death by his wife Olga, his parents, son Richard in 1956, five brothers and one sister.
