James A. Teal Jr.
NAPERVILLE, Ill. —James Anthony Teal Jr., 67, of Naperville, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Edward Hospital.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at SS Peter and Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Interment will be private.
Memorials in his name may be directed to Pulmonary Fibrosis Research, Mayo Foundation Development, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905; or Animals Deserving of Proper Treatment, P.O. Box 4131, Naperville, IL 60567-4131.
He was born June 10, 1932, to James A. and Margaret Teal at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Buddy Poppy Camp in Oakland County, Mich.
He attended Hudson Court Grace School and Waterford Township High School in Michigan. He married Lorraine Wiscombe, who preceded him in death in 1985. He earned an associate’s degree in police science from Pasadena City College and a bachelor of arts degree from Aurora University.
He was employed as a police officer by the city of Pontiac, Mich., from 1955 to 1960; a police detective in Palm Springs, Calif., from 1960 to 1964; a watch commander in Sierra Madre, Calif., from 1964 to 1969; and chief of police in Scottsbluff, Neb., from 1969 to 1973.
In 1973, he was appointed chief of police in Naperville, where he initiated several crime prevention programs. He retired in September 1989. He received more than 35 commendations during his 34 years as a police officer.
After his first wife’s death, he married Gretchen Andrae of Naperville in 1987. He was a member of Lions International and affiliated with Boy Scouts of America, Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police and DuPage County Chiefs of Police Association, for which he served as president. He was a co-founder of Midwest Homicide Investigators Association and a lifetime member of International Association of Chiefs of Police.
After his retirement, he became the owner of Teal and Associates and was a campus supervisor at Naperville Central High School for nine years. He was an active fund raiser for the Naperville YMCA, North Central College, March of Dimes, Lions Club and Inter-Community Blind Center. He served as treasurer for the Naperville CrimeStoppers board of directors and as a volunteer for Animals Deserving of Proper Treatment.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Cheryl (husband Tom) Warner of Carlsbad, Calif., and Angela (husband Lee) Shackleton of Aurora; three sons, Donald (wife Diane) Teal of Naperville, James Teal III of Aurora and Christopher (wife Vivian) Teal of Riverside, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, Sadie Goldman, Heather Davis, Dawn Warner, Sherri Loomer, Stephanie Nero, Jason Brown, Don Teal Jr., Robert Teal, Shaun Wennen, Dillon and Dalton Teal and Christopher Shackleton; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Peggy DuVall of Algonac, Mich., and one brother, John Teal of Sarasota, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents and stepmother, Ida Clara Teal.
Louis McPherson
GERING—Louis F. McPherson, 87, of Gering, died Friday, June 2, 2000 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at First Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff with Rev. Scott Peterson officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park with private family interment in Fairview Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Dec. 26, 1912 in Schuyler, Nebr. to Jonathan and Louise (Fiala) McPherson. He attended school at Lake Alice. He began his farming career in the Lake Alice Community and continued to farm north of Scottsbluff until his retirement in 1974. He was awarded the Great Western Sugar "Top Ten Beet Grower" for several years. He was a member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church where he was also active in Dolphins, and Scottsbluff Elks Lodge #1367.
He married Iris Swires on Dec. 1, 1937 in Scottsbluff and she preceded him in death April 10, 1970. He later married Ruth Johnson Mattson Nov. 24, 1973 in Scottsbluff.
Survivors include his wife Ruth; daughter Karen L. McPherson of Seattle Wash.; stepson Bradford Mattson of Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Iris; five brothers William, Donald, Jonathan Jr., Malcolm and Allen and three sisters Jessie Tatham, Loretta Monroe and Margaret Lewis.
Thomas Earl Tagler
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—Thomas Earl Tagler, 48 of Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Feb. 2, 2000.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at Gering Memorial Chapel with Michael Guggenmos officiating. A family graveside inurnment was held prior to the service. Gering Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Thomas was born Oct. 3, 1951 in Deshler, Nebr. to Henry C. Jr. and Donna L. (Schroeder) Tagler. He moved with his parents to Scottsbluff in 1955 and attended schools here and graduated from the Scottsbluff High School Class of 1969.
He attended Nebraska Western College for two years, then attended and graduated from Chadron State College. Later, he attended classes at Graduate College, University of Nebraska in Lincoln. From 1981 to 1982, he served his country in the United States Army in Alaska.
Survivors include father and stepmother Hank and Darlene Tagler of Gering, mother Donna Childs of Crawford; two brothers Michael Dean of Crawford and Daniel Bruce of Myrtle Beach, five nieces Jennifer, Genevieve, Jessica, Morgan and Shauna; great nephew Joshua Michael and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and an infant brother.

CRAWFORD — Donald Buckley, 95, of Crawford, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at Ponderosa Villa in Crawford. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Chamberlain Chapel in Crawford with Pastor Lee Eades officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Casper, Wyo.

He was born Jan. 24, 1905, in Sacramento, Calif.

He is survived by son Everett Buckley of Fromberg, Mont.; daughter Donna Lenski of Milbank, S.D.; sister Gertie Vyzourek of Crawford; and two step-grandchildren.

Ray Burden
GERING — Ray Burden, 88, of Castle Rock, Colo., formerly of Gering, died Saturday, June 17, 2000 in Castle Rock, Colo. A memorial graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2000, at West Lawn Cemetery with Rev. David Rowe officiating. Cremation was held in Colo. Gering Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on January 30, 1912, in Chestline, Ill., to Herbert and Abbie (Lewis) Burden. He graduated from Morrill High School. He attended the University of Nebraska and received his certificate in pharmacy. He was united in marriage to Dorothy F. Adams on June 11, 1937, in North Platte. They moved to Torrington, Wyo., and he was a registered pharmacist at Kellam Drug. He moved to Bayard and was the pharmacist at Ray’s Drug form 1947 to 1961. In 1961, he moved his family to Gering, where he was the pharmacist for McCosh Drug, until the 1980’s. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the First United Methodist Church in Gering, the Boy Scouts, School Board in Bayard and Town Council in Gering. He was an avid sportsman and a "Husker" fan. He loved being around people. He loved his family and will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his sons, Don Burden of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Randy Burden of Sante Fe, N.M.; daughters, Sandra Shaneyfelt of Castle Rock, Colo., and Kay Christensen of Henderson, Nev.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob Burden of Hill City, S.D., and Herb Burden of Riverton, Wyo.; and sister, Erma Banister of Holly, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Florence Adams Burden, and brother, Pete Burden.

SIDNEY — Donald Dean Floro, 62, of Sidney, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, in his home after a long struggle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS). He was born at home on December 31, 1937, in Curtis, Neb. He spent his childhood in Curtis where he attended high school at University of Nebraska School of Agriculture, graduating in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Adkinson on May 28, 1955, in Benkelman. He and his wife just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. He served in the U.S. Airforce from 1955 to 1959. he received his Bachelor Degree from Kearney State College and his Masters Degree from Chadron State College. He taught school, and coached football and basketball for eight years. He was a gifted teacher and coach, and enjoyed working with the youth. He made a positive impact on many young people. He took early retirement from Rocky Flats in Golden, Colo., as an Electical Engineer, and moved to Sidney with his wife in 1995. After retirement, he continued teaching, subtituting in area schools. He chose Sidney as his permanent residence because of his passion for hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing golf, and was the ultimate Nebraska Football Fan. He loved his children and was especially proud of his grandchildren, and enjoyed the time spent with them.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma of Sidney; son, Donald Dean Jr., and wife Edith of Eatontown, N.J.; four daughters, Beth Falla and husband, Mark of Imperial, Cindy Rilling and husband, David of Littleton, Colo., Kim Kenny and husband, Brad of Grand Island and Susan Fillinger of Aurora, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, Heather, Howard, Megan Ashmore and her husband, Tom, Matthew and William Falla, Shawn Kenny, Courtney and Carlie Fillinger, Shaelie, Savannah and Schuyler Rilling, Alyssa and Annabella Floro; great-granddaughter, Dara Brester; three sisters, Dorothy Gudgel of Grand Island, Betty Soto of Arroyo Grande, Calif. and Vera Shirley of Phillips; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Floro of Longmont, Colo. and Myrna Floro of Lebanon, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank B. and Laura E. (Morgan) Floro; five brothers, Harold, Lyle, Vernon, Samuel and Lawrence; and sister, Phyllis Morgan.
Stanley Frank Krul, Sr.
ALLIANCE — Stanley Frank Krul, Sr., 84, of Alliance, died Monday, June 29, 2000, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2000, at the Bates-Gould Chapel in Alliance with Rev. Jonathon Seng officiating. Burial will be in the Angora Cemetery with military rites. A memorial has been established for the Angora Cemetery. Donations may be sent in care of the family to HC 87 Box 27, Angora, Neb. 69331. He was born October 19, 1915, in Sargent, Neb., Custer County, to Frank and Anna (Matousek) Krul. The family moved to Hemingford, in 1918, where they purchased open prairie land and constructed a two-room sod house that is still standing today. He was educated in the Hemingford Public Schools, and then engaged in farming with his father until 1941. In February 1942, he joined the Army serving in the U.S. Army 8th Air Force with B17 Heavy Bombers over Europe. Following Germany’s surrender, he was sent to North African Ferry Division where he served until the end of the war. He served faithfully, and well earning many medals and commendations. Following his discharge in September of 1945, he moved to Angora, where he has made his home on the ranch. In April 1947, he married Minnie Trojan of Omaha, in Alliance, and to this union, three children were born.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie; children and their spouses, Stanley E. Krul of Angora, Richard E. and Patti Krul of Hemingford, and Connie and Michael Camacho of Scottsbluff; brothers, Alfred Krul of Bridgeport, Albert Krul of Salem, Mo., and Frank Krul of Pasco, Wash.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.
Lois L. Miller
RUSHVILLE — Lois L. Miller, 81, of Rushville, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at Gordon Hospital. She was born December 18, 1916, in Falls City, Neb., to Herbert A. and Emma M. (McCann) Burk. She was married to George R. Atchison on January 21, 1936, in Hot Springs, S. D.
She is survived by her sons, Paul R. Atchison of Norfolk, Va., and Darrel L. Atchison of Atwood, Kan.; daughter, Loretta Wilkison of Lusk, Wyo.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Brandon Lee Brenner
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Brandon Lee Brenner, 8, of Cheyenne, Wyo., died Saturday, August 12, 2000, from injuries he received in a four-wheeler accident on the family’s ranch south of Alliance. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2000, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance, with Father Jim Golka and Father Bryan Ernest officiating. The family prefers memorials to the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born June 25, 1992, in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Danny and Rhonda (Ives) Brenner. He had completed the first grade in Cheyenne. He spent his summers on the family’s ranch. He also enjoyed motorcycles, animals, karate, Nebraska Cornhuskers, teasing people and Lake McConaughy.
He is survived by his parents Cheyenne, Wyo.; grandparents, Roger and Betty Ives of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Richard and Mary Brenner of Alliance; great-grandparents, Glen and Lucille Kooper of Alliance, and Bill and Evelyn Frank of Cheyenne, Wyo.; uncles and aunts, Lorilee and Martin Ramos of Cheyenne, Wyo., Charles and Darla Ives of Casper, Wyo., Jolene Tilley of Greeley, Colo., and Corrie and Angie Stephens of Alliance; and numerous great-aunts, uncles and cousins.

Raymond ‘Bun’ Cameron
TORRINGTON, Wyo. — Raymond "Bun" Cameron, 90, of Torrington, Wyo., died Sunday, August 13, 2000, at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington, Wyo. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2000, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Torrington, Wyo., with Pastor Marvin Temme officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call at the Colyer Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday. The casket will be open at the service. Memorials may be directed to either the Goshen Care Center or to Our Savior Lutheran Church. The Colyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born June 18, 1910, in Torrington, Wyo., to Paul and Winifred (Southworth) Cameron. He grew up and attended school in Torrington; later working on the family farm. The Cameron family was one of the early Pioneer families in Goshen County. He married Reva Folkerts on November 25, 1937, in Wyerts, Neb., and the couple lived and worked on the family farm. They retired in 1870, and moved to Torrington. After his retirement, he continued to work part-time for Town of Torrington and for the Goshen Irrigation District. He also drove school bus for the school district for 10 years.
He was an avid reader of western books; and he enjoyed playing cards, dancing and fishing. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Gleaners Union.
He is survived by his wife, Reva; four sons, Ronald Cameron and wife, Lois, of Sun City, Ariz., Jack Cameron and wife, Judy, of Lander, Wyo., Keith Cameron and wife, Helen, of Alliance, and Rod Cameron and friend, Becky VanDerveen, of Torrington, Wyo.; a brother and wife, Walter and Lucille Cameron of Boise, Idaho; four nieces, Bonnie Glass of Longmont, Colo., Peggy Heiser of Saratoga, Wyo., Loretta Smith and Janet Cameron, both of Boise, Idaho; a nephew, Lee Everling of Cheyenne, Wyo.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eunice Everling.
Clayton ‘Mike’ H. Gerard
BRIDGEPORT — Clayton "Mike" H. Gerard, 73, of Bridgeport, died Sunday, August 13, 2000, at the Heritage of Bridgeport. A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2000, at the Roy Johnson American Legion Post #29 Hall, located at 7th & L Sts. in Bridgeport, with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Cremation has been held. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Prairie Haven Hospice in Scottsbluff, the American Cancer Society or the Donor’s Choice.
He was born June 18, 1927, in Gypsum, Colo., to Loyd A. and Ora E. (Carr) Gerard. He spent the majority of his life ranching on the family ranch. He also worked a couple of summers for the US Forest Service spraying trees with heavy beetle infestation. He served with the US Army from 1945 to 1947 as a member of the 63rd Infantry Regiment. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal. In 1976, he moved to Bridgeport, where he was employed by Bridgeport Equipment Co. until his retirement. During his retirement years, he enjoyed caring for his lawn, tomatoes and attending auctions.
He is survived by his brothers, Keith, Roland "Andy" and wife, Elizabeth, and Claude and wife, Mary Jo, all of Gypsum, Colo.; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
