MARY A MILLS

Mary A. Mills, 79, of Sutherland, passed away January 15, 2011 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. She was born July 2, 1931 to William and Elsie (Jaenicke) Kuhl at Grainton, NE. She was raised in Perkins County. On April 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Duane Mills at Rushville, NE. They lived in Fremont for 20 years, moving to North Platte in 1973. She was a lifetime member of the Legion and VFW auxiliary’s. She also volunteered at the nursing homes as the “popcorn lady”. Mary is survived by a son, Robert D. Mills of North Platte; two daughters, Carol D. Hovendick of Tekamah, NE and Mary B. (David) Wymer of Portville, NY; three brothers, Harvey (Lee) Kuhl of Santa Maria, CA, William (Sarrah) Kuhl of Hershey, NE and Bernard (Marilyn) Kuhl of Lee, FL; a sister, Helena Kettle of Casper, WY; six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and several other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Doris Frank and a brother, Albert Kuhl. Cremation was chosen. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tues. through Thur. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2011 at Ft. McPherson National cemetery near Maxwell.

MARJORIE HELEN RUDLOFF

Marjorie H. Rudloff, 88, of North Platte, passed away January 7, 2011 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center . She was born Dec. 25, 1922, one of ten children, to Charles and Francis (Marking) Wasserburger at Arella, NE. Marjorie grew up on a farm outside of Arella and attended country school. She was united in marriage on June 2, 1943 to Francis L. Rudloff at Manhattan Beach, CA . She was employed as a clerk for 15 years at Page Drug Store in Page, AZ. Marjorie was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and was very active with the church. She was an avid card player, joining as many card clubs as she felt she could handle, pitch, pinochle and her favorite, bridge. She was a member of the Newcomers Club, one she always searched out when moving to a new town. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Arizona; she remained a member and was invited to join Laurete Epsilon Sorority in North Platte . She has enjoyed all her sisters in North Platte very much. She is survived by husband, Francis of North Platte; a daughter, Mary (Jim) Backenstose of North Platte; two sons, David (Lynda) Rudloff of Tucson, AZ and Dennis (Mary) Rudloff of Rockville, MD; grandchildren, Brian, Karen and David Andrew Rudloff, Lorelle Leonard and Daniel Kennel, Cory Backenstose, Krystina Hinman and Jennifer Schultz; great grandchildren, Loryn and Leah Leonard, Jace Kennel, and Gabryel and Kaitlyn Rudloff. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Kennel; her siblings, Charles, Elmer, Harold, Jess and Ralph Wasserburger, Leona Ostermeyer, Nellie Pipher, Caroline Moody and Rose Cole. Memorials are suggested to the Holy Spirit Building Fund. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with the Reverend James Novakowski as celebrant. Rosary will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at North Platte cemetery . Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday and Monday with family receiving friends from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.

ARBUTUS "BOOTS" LITTLE

Arbutus B. “Boots” Little, 70, lifelong resident of North Platte, passed away January 1, 2011, of natural causes at Cloquet Memorial Hospital in Cloquet, MN. She was born in Lexington, NE, June 18, 1940, to Merle and Alberta “Toots” Mitchell. Arbutus traveled throughout the world as a military wife. In her earlier years, Arbutus worked as a waitress for several years. She then worked as a railroad hauler for the Armadillo Company until the age of 65. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. Arbutus was preceded in death by her husband, John O. “Bud” Little and her parents. She is survived by her four children; sons, Bruce Little and Clinton Little of North Platte, daughters, Julie (John) Haverkamp of Cloquet, MN and Tina Little of North Platte; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly Nau and Diane Selph-Davis of Dallas, TX; step father, Kennard Moss of Raytown, MO; nieces, Tracy, Venus and Viany of Texas; nephew, Trent, also of Texas; in-laws, including a very close sister-in-law, Thelma “Sis” Little. Cremation was chosen. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Ft. McPherson National cemetery near Maxwell. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

DELBERT DALE MENTZER

Delbert Dale Mentzer, 80, of North Platte, passed away October 13, 2011 in Ogallala.
He was born July 28, 1931 to Clyde & Irene (Hunt) Mentzer in Arcadia, Nebraska. Delbert served in the United States Marine Corp. from 1952 to 1954 at the Barstow California Supply Depot.
Delbert married Patricia Cain on May 31, 1955 at Grand Island, Nebraska and they were blessed with three children; Steve, Cheryl and David.
Delbert worked as a self-employed truck driver most of his life. His hobbies included antique toys, tractors and attending Blue Grass Music Festivals.
Survivors include his wife, Patty, of North Platte; two sons, Steve (Kathy) Mentzer of North Platte; David (Christina) Mentzer of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and daughter, Cheryl Meyer of North Platte; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Two sisters, Lorene Reutzel and Donna Clark; one brother, Don (Donna) Mentzer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob (Lucille) Koenig, Virginia Bailey and Donna (Dean) Kittle.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norm Mentzer; grandchildren, Jessica & Nathan Domingus and great granddaughter Erica Lamphear.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2011 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bob Allen officiating. Burial will be at the Plainview cemetery near Maxwell with military honors graveside.

RAYMOND MARVIN HERMANSON

Raymond M. Hermanson, 78, brother of Twila Miller of North Platte, passed away October 11, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte is in charge of arrangements.

PAULINE JEAN WILDE

Pauline Jean Wilde, 74, of North Platte, died October 11, 2011, in Sutherland.
Pauline was born March 12, 1937 in Laurel, Nebraska, to Frederick Paul and Campsa Dell (Joslin) Pokett. She grew up in Wayne, Nebraska and graduated from Wayne High School.
She was united in marriage to Lyle Kingston and later to Wayne Wilde, she lived in Lincoln and North Platte and worked as a clerk in the hotel/motel industry. She enjoyed dining out and her scratch tickets.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Kingston and Garry (Janice) Kingston of North Platte; two daughters, Linda (Todd) Miller of Pagosa Springs, CO and Christy Perez (Adam Kackmeister) of North Platte; ten grandchildren, Courtney Marie & Kyle Matthew Kingston, Max & Maverick Miller; Tyler James, Zachary Edward, Cory Matthen, Katelyn Renae & Jacob Michael Perez, and Adalee Kackmeister; and two great grandchildren, Alexis Rose & Taten Ryan Perez; two sisters, Merle Garvey and Helen Ahlman. She is also survived by her special friends, Wayne & Carla Wilde of Lincoln, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marcela, and two brothers, Duane and Jim Pokett.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2011, at North Platte cemetery with Pastor John Patterson officiating.
Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.

NORMAN F. UGAI

Norman Fumio Ugai, 95, of North Platte, died peacefully on October 8, 2011.
He was born in North Platte to the late Richi and Shinayo (Mihara) Ugai on July 3, 1916. Norman graduated from North Platte High School in 1934 and attended Kearney State College. He married Alice Nakada in 1955 and they lived in North Platte to raise their three children.
Norman served his country in World War II as a member of the Cannon Company of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team that was deployed in and from 1942 to 1945. He was awarded a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. After his military service, he managed his family’s Palace Hotel and later became a mail carrier. Norman was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and a life member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed visiting with people on his mail routes, hunting and fishing, coaching little league baseball teams and supporting all North Platte sports teams. After retiring from the mail service, he enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Hawaii to attend his Cannon Company reunions, visiting national parks and the Canadian Rockies, and morning activities with his friends at the North Platte Recreation Center . Norman was a kind and generous husband, father, uncle and friend.
Norman is survived by his wife, Alice; sister, Virginia of North Platte; daughter, Susan Ugai of Lincoln; son, Alan Ugai of Henderson, Nevada; son and daughter-in-law, Brian Ugai and Victoria Smolen of Seattle; nephews, Norman, Richard, and Mark Ugai; Richi, Fred, and David Ogawa; and niece, Joyce Nakada. He was predeceased by his brother Fred Ugai and sister Marguerite Ogawa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011, at Episcopal Church of Our Savior, 203 W. 4th, North Platte. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. at Ft. McPherson National cemetery near Maxwell with military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.

DEWEY D. WALTEMATH

Dewey D. Waltemath, 85, passed away on October 6, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He was born September 8, 1926 at Wellfleet to Roger and Ruth (Gerken) Waltemath. He attended Echo School South of North Platte.
He married Jean Jasnoch on June 19, 1948 in Stapleton, Nebraska. He was employed as a Construction Foreman for NorthWestern Public Service Company and retired in 1991. He loved to putter in his garage, helping his neighbors and enjoyed watching baseball. He was a member of the Eagles Club.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean of North Platte; his children, Doug (Sue) Waltemath of Kansas City, MO., Glen (Lyn) Waltemath of North Platte, Connie (Everett) Palmer of North Platte, Rog (Beth) Waltemath of Liberty, MO, Joe (Raelene) Waltemath of North Platte, and Pat (Debbie) Waltemath of Kearney; his brother Herb Waltemath of Brighton, CO and 11 grandchildren, Sam, Cory, Kevin, Sarah, Jaime, Christopher, Brett, Tyler, Eric, Mariah, and Derek; and 1 great grandson, Owen.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Edna Hall, two brothers, Don Waltemath and Willard Waltemath, and infant son, Randy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, October 9, and Monday, October 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel which is in charge of arrangements.

BERTHA L. MALINE

Bertha L. Maline, 99, of North Platte, passed away September 26, 2011 at Centennial Park. She was born June 24, 1912 to Ole L. and Alma (Wicklund) Jergensen at Denmark, Nebraska. She attended school in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School. Bertha was united in marriage on October 27, 1940 to Ivan Maline at North Platte. She was employed as a telephone operator at Northwestern Bell. Bertha was the longest standing member of the First Baptist Church who was baptized in 1924. She was also a member of the Sunshine Club, Pinochle Club, ABWM and Church Circles. Bertha enjoyed knitting, swimming and helping others. She is survived by three children, John (Karen) Maline of Omaha, Sylvia (Paul) Norton of Vancouver BC, Canada and Richard (Ann) Maline of North Platte; one brother, Dale Jergensen of North Platte; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Florence Jergensen of Oklahoma and Lila Maline of North Platte. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan; three sisters, Frances Rose, Viola Hinman and Lorena Huffman and one brother, Glen Jergensen. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Mamula officiating. Burial will be at the North Platte cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.

DALE W. HUSEMOLLER

Dale W. Husemoller, 85, of North Platte, passed away September 24, 2011 at his home. He was born April 20, 1926 to William C.H. and Rena A. (Gillham) Husemoller at 515 West 24th Street in Kearney, NE. He attended schools in Kearney, Hastings and Barstow, CA; graduating with the class of Kearney High School in 1943. After graduation he worked various jobs such as; Union Pacific Railroad in Kearney, Ship Building Corporation in CA, Consolidated Vulter Air Craft in San Diego and then returned to Kearney to join the United States Marine Corp. Dale served during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1946. He hired out with the Union Pacific Railroad as brakeman and later promoted to conductor retiring on Dec. 31, 1988. Dale was recalled to the Marine Corp and served in Korea until he was wounded and discharged in 1951. He married Lola L. Stubbs and to this union were three sons, Gayle, William and Tom Husemoller. Lola later preceded Dale in death. Oct. 21, 1956, he was united in marriage to Maxine B. Berry in Goodland, KS and to this union were two children, Ronald and Rene Husemoller. After Dale retired he moved to Florida and was married to Sharon Dew moving back to North Platte in 1991. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and wildlife. He was a member of V.F.W and Marine Division Assn. He is survived by four children, William and Tom Husemoller of Great Falls, Montana, Ronald Husemoller of North Platte and Rene O’Rourke of Ogallala; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; special friends, Phyllis Christensen and Don McBride; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wives, Lola and Maxine; and a son, Gayle. Memorials are suggested to the V.F.W. or the North Platte Animal Shelter. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Greg Mamula officiating. Inurnment will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Kearney cemetery in Kearney, NE with military honors graveside. Cremation was chosen. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.

KENNETH H. KELLOGG

Kenneth H. Kellogg age 80, of North Platte, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. He was born February 9, 1931 at North Platte to George H. and Wilma (Lundt) Kellogg. In 1949, Ken graduated from North Platte High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict with the 5th Regimental Combat Team. He was united in marriage to Jean M. Bennett on June 11, 1960. Ken was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, an Eagle Scout and Assistant Scout Master of Troop #81. He was also active in Prime Timers, and enjoyed attending cardiac rehab and exercise classes at the Senior Center, sailing, and spending time with family and friends. Ken was a lifelong salesman, selling securities, insurance, real estate, and hardware at Ace Hardware. Ken is survived by three daughters, Karen (Doug) Armitage and Linda (Tod) Brockley both of Omaha, and Shannon (Jeff) Peterson of Lincoln, formerly of North Platte, a brother, Dean (Charlotte) Kellogg of San Antonio, TX, six grandchildren, Laura and Luke Armitage, Abbey and Brandon Peterson, and Elizabeth and Georgia Brockley, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, his brother and sister-in-law George E. and Rodola Kellogg, and his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Callahan Cancer Center, Fist Evangelical Lutheran Church, or the Boy Scouts Troop #81. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National cemetery with military honors graveside. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Sunday and 8:30 am to 8:00 pm Monday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home.

DORIS M. KEMPER

Doris M. Kemper, 79, of North Platte, passed away September 20, 2011 at her home. She was born December 3, 1931 to Stewart and Elsie (Petersen) Gamble southeast of North Platte at her family home. Doris attended district #3 and #31 grade schools and graduated from North Platte High School in 1949. She was united in marriage Feb. 4, 1951 to Stanley Kemper at North Platte. They farmed southeast of North Platte their entire life and had just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. She attended the First Assembly of God Church. Doris enjoyed square dancing, crocheting and knitting. She is survived by her husband, Stan of North Platte; son, Rod (Connie) Kemper of North Platte; daughter, Marilyn (Jerry) Jackman of York, NE; a sister, Delores Gengenbach of Brady; a brother, Leonard (Marge) Gamble of Pearland, TX; five grandchildren, Becky Kemper, Candi (T.J.) Powell, Justin Kemper, Chad (Tanya) Jackman and Geri (Mark) Bartholomew; and two special great grandchildren, Trey and Cort Powell. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial has been established in her memory. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at the First Assembly of God Church. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES "GENE" BARUTH

Charles E. “Gene” Baruth, 75, of North Platte, passed away June 17, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Omaha. He was born Oct. 6, 1935 to Charles and Myrtle (Watts) Baruth at Aurora, Oregon. He resided in Lexington for many years and was employed by Cornland Beef for 30 years. In 2007, Charles moved to North Platte. He is survived by his children, Monty Baruth of Colorado Springs, CO, Sandra Mason of Gibbon, NE, Sherri Dodds of Republican City, NE, Cindy Griess of Sutton, NE, Eric Baruth and Tom Baruth both of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister, Sharon Baruth and a brother, William Baruth both of North Platte. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frank and two sisters, Barb and Carol. Cremation was chosen. Memorial graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Ft. McPherson National cemetery near Maxwell, NE. Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte is in charge of arrangements.
