Services will be Saturday, September 21, 2002; 11:30 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Fairbury, Nebraska with Pastor Charles Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Fairbury Cemetery, Fairbury, Nebraska.
Alice C. Jungck was born
January 6, 1908 in Republic County Kansas to Edward & Cora (Fraley) Wessel. She married Arthur Jungck on February 22, 1927 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Chester, Nebraska and he preceded her in death in 1978. She was a homemaker and worked at Montgomery Wards in Fairbury, Nebraska. She moved to Hastings, Nebraska from Fairbury in 1991. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska.
Alice C. Jungck was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son, 1 grandson,1 brother and 4 sisters.

Duane W. Halte, 71, 423 Circle D, Hastings, Nebraska, died Monday, September 16, 2002 at St. Francis Skilled Care Unit, Grand Island, Nebraska.
Services will be Friday, September 20, 2002; 11:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska.
Duane W. Halte was born
October 2, 1930 in Prosser, Nebraska to George III, & Ina May (Browning) Halte. He graduated from Juniata High School, Juniata, Nebraska in 1948. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from August 2, 1951 to May 14, 1953. He married Doris Kroetsching on February 14, 1964 in Hastings, Nebraska. He worked for Hastings Industries for 27 years before retiring. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Life Member of V.F.W., Hastings, Nebraska. He was also a member of American Legion, Doniphan, Nebraska. He was a life long area resident.

Graveside service and burial will be Wednesday, September 18, 2002; 2:00 P.M. at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska with Dr. Carl W. Utley officiating.
Blanche M. Sueverkruebbe was born
February 10, 1917 in Red Oak, Iowa to Ralph W. & Ethel E. (West) McPherson. She graduated from high school and married Lloyd E. Sueverkruebbe on August 22, 1937 in Osceola, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1983. She was a homemaker and worked of Albright’s Dress Shop as a sales clerk and later as a City Hostess for several years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Elizabeth M. Kuhn was born
June 20, 1907 in Bladen, Nebraska to Charles & Mary (Sidlo) Dusek. She married Howard Kuhn in Smith Center, Kansas on October 1, 1922 and he preceded her in death in 1981. She moved from Blue Hill, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in 1958. She was a nurses aide at the Hastings Regional Center for 19 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church and its Altar Society.

December 17, 1913 in Hildreth, Nebraska to Glenn & Olive (Smalley) Rule. She graduated from high school in Compton, California. On June 28, 1936, she married Vern Anderson and he preceded her in death in 1992. She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O., Lochland, Y.W.C.A. and a past member of Mary Lanning Hospital Auxiliary. She was a life long area resident.

December 21, 1902 in Phillips County, Kansas to Sam A. & Emma (Hall) Matteson. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Phillipsburg, Kansas and attended Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas for 2 years. She married Joy J. Whitten on October 16, 1926 and he preceded her in death in 1985. She was a homemaker and taught school in the earlier years. She moved from Guide Rock, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in 1967.

Clarence E. Rutt
Clarence E. Rutt, 87, of 1790 So. Wabash, died Saturday, September 7, 2002 at his home.
Services will be Friday, September 13, 2002; 2:00 P.M. at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Sacia Vik and Rev. Paul Konig officiating. Burial will be in Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr, Nebraska.
Clarence Rutt was born
September 25, 1914 in Franklin County on a farm near Campbell, Nebraska to George & Alice (Schreiner) Rutt. This farm is on the National Historical Registry. He graduated from Campbell High School in 1933 and on August 20, 1936, he married Charlotte Bartels at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wilcox, Nebraska. He was a pig, beef, dairy and crop farmer. He also worked at the Navy Ammunition Depot during WWII. He was an original board member of the Hastings Rural Fire Department in 1955. He was a member of First St. Pauls’ Lutheran Church near Glenvil and in Hastings where he served on several boards and councils for 10 years. He was also a Sunday School teacher. He was a 4-H Leader for 12 years. He was elected to the Little Blue Natural Resource District (NRD) for 12 years. In 1987, he was appointed to the Nebraska Natural Resources Commission in Lincoln, Nebraska and served for 4 years. Then he was elected to the Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District Board of Directors for 6 years in Holdrege. He received an award from the State of Nebraska as a Soil and Water Conservation Steward. In his later years, he was an orderly at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital for 10 years. He volunteered and gave blood at the Red Cross Blood Bank. He was on the Red Cross Board & on the Adams County Extension Board. Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital presented an award to him in 1991 for volunteerism. He was honored by Cargill Seed Company as the number one corn grower among South Central Nebraska farmers. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club. For the past 20 years, he has actively researched the genealogy of the Rutt/Schreiner families.
Clarence Rutt was preceded in death by his parents, 12 brothers and sisters and a grandson.

Joseph T. Walsh, 92, of 1123 W. 7th St., died Friday, September 6, 2002 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 9, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, all in Hastings, Nebraska.
Joseph T. Walsh was born
July 1, 1910 in Harvard, Nebraska to Thomas & Elizabeth (Buckley) Walsh. He was in the United States Army during WWII from January 4, 1943 to November 26, 1945, serving overseas in the Battle of the Bulge and the Invasion of Normandy. He married Julietta Mousel in Juniata, Nebraska on June 18, 1949. He was a heavy equipment operator for 27 years for the City of Hastings. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and its Men’s Club, V.F.W., and a past member of the Eagles. He was a life long area resident.

Eldon Charles May was born
June 21, 1942 in Wheeler County, Nebraska to Arthur Morgan & Millie (Young) May. On January 12, 1964, he married Connie L. Wilson in Aurora, Nebraska. He lived in Bartlett, Nebraska and Grand Island, Nebraska before moving to Hastings, Nebraska 27 years ago. He started Emson Tree Service in 1968. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 32nd Degree Mason, Masonic Lodge #50, Scottish Rite, Tehama Temple, Safari Club International and a life member of NRA, Trap Shooters Association and North American Hunters Club. He enjoyed hunting and hunted all over the world.

June 25, 1932 in Kenesaw, Nebraska to Floyd & Wauneta (Branson) Ernst. He graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1950 and on October 19, 1952, he married Ardyce Goldenstein in Glenvil, Nebraska. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from November 14, 1952 to August 25, 1954. He worked for Hastings Battery & Electric, Metz Bakery Company and the United States Post Office, retiring in 1992. He was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and a greeter, V.F.W.and American Legion. He was a past Eagle member.
