Services will be Wednesday, February 19, 2003; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Carl H. Rehwaldt officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Jean H. McMurray was born
November 3, 1923 in Chester, Nebraska to Conrad & Anna Seitz. She graduated from Sydney High School, Sydney, Nebraska. She married Glenn McMurray on March 21, 1943. They moved to Leavenworth, Kansas in 1959 from Hastings and back to Hastings in 1973. She worked for Ahlman Janitorial in Hastings, Nebraska.
Jean H. McMurray was preceded in death by her parents and son Danny McMurray.

Former Hastings resident, Florence L. Haase, 92, of Central City Care Center, died Sunday, February 16, 2003 at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital, Central City, Nebraska.
Services will be Thursday, February 20, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Dan Heuer officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Florence L. Haase was born
February 24, 1910 in Jewell County, Kansas to Edward & Lucy (Cottongem) White. She graduated from Superior High School, Superior, Nebraska in 1927 and attended PeruTeacher’s Training, Peru, Nebraska. She taught elementary school from 1928 to 1930. On May 26, 1931, she married Edward O. Haase and he preceded her in death December 4, 1984. She was a psychiatric Aide at the Hastings Regional Center and a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was a life long area resident.
Florence L. Haase was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward O, a son, Edward L. Haase on May 1, 2000, 6 brothers; Letch, Tom, John, Jim, Hugh & George White and 4 sisters; Pearl White, Lena Terrell, Mae Andersen and Ethel Adrian.

Dorothy L. Moorhead Cave, 89, of Perkins Pavilion, died Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Memorial graveside service and interment will be Saturday, February 15, 2003; 11:00 A.M. at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Sacia Vik & Rev. Neil Vik officiating. No viewing or visitation.
Dorothy Cave was born
November 25, 1913 in Deweese, Nebraska to Jay & Dora (Roth) Moore. On May 12, 1933, she married Ray Moorhead and they later divorced. On May 14, 1950, she married Andrew Cave and he preceded her in death in December of 1952. They made their home in Hastings for many years. She was a homemaker and played piano for dance bands around the Hastings area for many years. She worked for the Salvation Army and was a cook for the Adams County Nursing Home. She was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Dorothy Cave was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, 1 brother, Willard Moore and a great granddaughter, Andrea Potts.

Michael Lee Young, 49, of 214 E. 6th Street, died Monday, February 10, 2003 at his home.

Michael Lee Young was born
November 26, 1953 in Hastings, Nebraska to Dean F. & Dorthy (Armstrong) Young. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1973. He worked for Turner Brothers as a painter, Hatteras Yachts in North Carolina as a fabricator and as a welder at Hastings Industries for 3 ½ years. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Michael Lee Young was preceded in death by his father.

Willard C. Stein
Hastings resident, Willard C. Stein, 79, of 5505 S. Wabash, died Sunday, February 9, 2003 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Thursday, February 13, 2003; 2:30 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. James Cooke officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Willard C. Stein was born
April 25, 1923 in Hastings, Nebraska to John C. & Louise (Brown) Stein. He was baptized and confirmed at First United Methodist Church in Hastings. He graduated from Hastings High School and at the age of 20, he was inducted into the United States Army. He served during WWII in the European Theatre with Battery “D” of the 555th Anti-aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. Before being sent to Europe, he married his high school sweetheart, Della Harrenstein of Hastings, on June 18, 1944 in Palacios, Texas. He was honorably discharged, February 2, 1946. After returning from the service, he was an auto mechanic for A.H. Jones & Company of Hastings and later started Stein Auto Repair. In 1952, he and Della returned to the family farm where they raised their two children, Barbara and Kenneth. Willard farmed for 37 years before retiring in 1989. He was an Adams county 4-H leader for eight years, a member of the Hanover District #75 school board and secretary of the Adams County Wheat Growers Association. He and Della were members of the Antique Plymouth Car Club and traveled over the country showing their cars. He was the last member left of the original board that formed the Hastings Rural Fire Protection District in 1955. He retired from the Rural Fire Department in September of 2000 after 45 years of service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as Christian Education Coordinator for 20 years. He also served on the Session and the Board of Trustees.

Hastings resident, Louis M. Conover, Sr. 68, of 808 So. St. Joseph, died Sunday, February 9, 2003 at his home.
Services will be Friday, February 14, 2003; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Louis M. Conover, Sr. was born
September 15, 1934 in Loveland, Colorado, to Howard & Adeline (Walters) Conover. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from May 2, 1952 to May 6, 1955. He also served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve. On December 16, 1955, he married T. Colleen Karash in Hastings, Nebraska. He was a truck driver for United States Postal Service.
Louis M. Conover, Sr., was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister & a grandson, Roger Allen Conover.

T. Colleen Conover was born
November 19, 1936 in Cambridge, Nebraska to Anthony R. & E. Cleaon (Kinder) Karash. She moved at an early age to Hastings, Nebraska with her family. She attended St. Cecilia’s School. On December 16, 1955, she married Louis M. Conover in Hastings, Nebraska. She was a homemaker, a nurses aide at Good Samaritan Village and a housekeeper at various motels in Hastings. She enjoyed her crafts, playing bingo, gardening and she loved her family.
T. Colleen Conover was preceded in death by her parents and 1 grandson, Roger Allen Conover.

Hastings resident, Robert B. Cordle, 82, died Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Monday, February 10, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Griger officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Robert B. Cordle was born
September 26, 1920 in Franklin, Nebraska to Earl & Ann(Hayes) Cordle. He attended Franklin school and graduated in 1938. He later lived in California and worked at Lockheed Aircraft. He served in the United States Army during WWII as an X-ray Technician. He worked in a hospital in St. Louis, Missouri before returning to Nebraska. He began work in Hastings in 1951 at Cook’s Paint Store, then moved to W. G. Pauley’s Lumber company, where he worked approximately thirty years, retiring in 1982. He married Margaret E. (Ramsay) McKnight on June 4, 1952 in the First United Methodist Church. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on June 8, 2002 in Hastings. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion, Elks#159 and Elk’s Country Club, all in Hastings, Nebraska.
Robert B. Cordle was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lester Cordle.
