Rosary will be Tuesday, September 16, 2003; 7:30 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roseland, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 17, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roseland, Nebraska with Father Thomas Au officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Church Cemetery, Roseland, Nebraska.

Theresa Ann Mousel was born icon August 7, 1908 in Adams County, near Juniata, Nebraska to John & Mary (Phillips) David. She attended Assumption Catholic School. On February 7, 1928, she married Arthur Mousel at Assumption Catholic Church, Roseland, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on November 28, 1996. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She was a homemaker and a lifelong Juniata and Roseland area resident.

Theresa Ann Mousel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur, one daughter, Phyllis Ring, one grandson, Dick Parr, two brothers and four sisters.

Nick Anthony McIntyre, 36, of 1325 West 4th, Hastings, Nebraska, died Wednesday, September 10, 2003, at his home.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Nick Anthony McIntyre was born icon January 10, 1967, in Hastings, Nebraska. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1985. He then attended Community College in Milford, Nebraska. He later worked for Carmichael Construction.

Harvey Michael Johnson, 55, of 1118 Jefferson, died Saturday, September 6, 2003 at St. Anthony Central Hospital, Denver, Colorado

Services will be Thursday, September 11, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Carl H. Rehwaldt and Rev. Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, Nebraska

Harvey Michael Johnson was born icon February 17, 1948 in Hastings, Nebraska to John Henry & Zinna (Lee) Johnson. He graduated from Hastings High School and from Kearney State College with a Bachelors Degree in Business. On January 31, 1970, he married Beverly K. Bachman in Blue Hill, Nebraska. He was in the Army Reserves. He was a Sales Representative for Texaco Inc in Omaha, Nebraska, Champlain Petroleum and Great Plains Container in Hastings. Most recently he was National Sales Manager for Dutton-Lainson Company, working for them since1985. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and Lochland Country Club.

Harvey Michael Johnson was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Lloyd Johnson.

Robert 'Bob' Eugene Dyer

Robert Eugene Dyer, 73, of 1215 W. Pony Express Rd., Ayr, Nebraska, died Friday, September 5, 2003 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services are Friday,12, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor John Lee Ross officiating. Interment will be in Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr, Nebraska at a later date. His body was donated to science.

Robert Eugene Dyer was born icon April 25, 1930 in LeRoy, Nebraska to Paul M. & Amanda (Dewey) Dyer. He attended Hastings High School and married Alice Tjarks on August 28, 1949. He was in the Army National Guard 134th infantry for 12 years and worked at Hastings Industries for 32 years. He was a charter member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Sunday school superintendent, 40+ year member of Fraternal Order of Eagles (Golden Age Eagle), charter member & treasurer of Mid Rivers Dowsing Club, member/past president-Just For Fun Car Club, Platte Valley Antique Machinery Association-board of Trustees, 29 year member of American Legion, Speaker of Preserving History, Nebraskaland Treasurer Hunters, past president of the State AFL-CIO, past president and secretary of Local #1394, served as Adams County Supervisor for the 3rd District , serving on the Roads Department and Health & Human services committees and was Secretary/Treasurer of the Blue Valley Cemetery Association.

Dorothy D. Swanson Chingren

Dorothy D. Chingren, 39 ( X 2), of 839 N. St. Joseph passed away Monday, September 1, 2003 at Bergan Mercy Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska.

Dorothy was born icon February 8, 1925 in Funk, Nebraska to Herman & Martha (Paulsen) Swanson. She was a graduate of Immanuel School of Nursing and a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps. married to Dale L. Chingren August 30, 1947, she was a proud housewife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, infant daughter Gena M. Chingren, and brother, Arden Swanson

Dorothy is survived by brother Lauren Swanson of Holdrege, NE; brother and sister-in-law Lowell ‘Swanny’ and Mildred Swanson of Dalton, NE; sister-in-law Delores Swanson of Kearney, NE; son and daughter-in-law Dr. Gary and Evelyn Chingren, daughter and son-in-law Gail and Roger Smidt, son Greg Chingren, son Glen Chingren all of Hastings, NE; six grandchildren-Gwendolyn M. Chingren Wellsandt (and spouse David), Giuliana M. Oppliger (and spouse Brian) Zachary D. Chingren, Corey T. Stutte, Tyler A. Chingren, Cody J. Chingren; and countless friends and loved ones.

Family kindly requests memorial donations be made to Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd, Hastings, NE, or Mary Lanning Cancer Center in lieu of flowers.

Service to be Friday, September 5, 2003; 2:00 P.M. at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Hastings, NE, with Pastor John Lee Ross officiating. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE.

Mary Grace Roth

Mary Grace Roth, 72, of 901 Ronan Dr., died Monday, September 1, 2003 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Rosary will be Thursday, September 4, 2003; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 5, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church with Father Larry Gyhra and Father Joseph Nguyen officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.

Mary Grace Roth was born icon September 13, 1930 in Hastings, Nebraska to Francis, Sr. & Flora (Cantwell) Roth. She graduated from St. Cecilia’s High School and attended Mount St. Scholastica College, Atchison, Kansas and Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska. She moved to San Francisco, California in 1965 where she was Director of Education for the Door & Hardware Institute. The institute moved to Washington D.C. in 1975, and she lived in Annandale, Virginia until retirement in 1996, when she returned to Hastings, Nebraska. She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, Legion of Mary, and was a community volunteer.

Mary Grace Roth was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Francis Roth ,Jr., John L. ‘Jack’ Roth, Thomas Roth and Richard Roth.

Theresa M. Brannagan was born icon February 4, 1907 in Adams County near Assumption, Nebraska to Henry & Pauline A. (Bohr) Phillips. She attended school in Assumption, Nebraska. She worked at the R.C. Nelson home and Photography Studio in Hastings. On April 28, 1931, she married Arvene G. Brannagan and he preceded her in death in 1980. She was a housewife, living on farms in the Hastings, Trumbull and Doniphan areas. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and Altar Society in Doniphan, Nebraska. She served on the Election Board of her voting precinct for many years and worked at the Lochland Country Club, Hastings, Nebraska.

Theresa M. Brannagan was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, two grandchildren and four brothers.

Services will be Saturday, November 1, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Tom Murray & Rev. Gayle Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, Nebraska at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, November 1, 2003.

Gladys Irene Brooks was born icon November 26, 1906 in Edgar, Nebraska to Stephen & Sadie (Peterson) Beck. She graduated from Edgar High School, Edgar, Nebraska. She married Harry Brooks in Mankato, Kansas on May 1, 1924. He preceded her in death in 1981. They moved from Edgar, Nebraska to Juniata, Nebraska in 1938. She worked at Hesteds from 1960 to 1972. She was a homemaker and a member of Juniata Community Church, Women’s Fellowship & Missionary at the church and Sunshine Homemaker’s Club, all of Juniata, Nebraska.

Gladys Irene Brooks was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harry, Infant twin sons, one sister and three brothers.

Calvin C. Klein, 78, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Monday, October 27, 2003 at Grand Island Veterans Home after a long illness.

Services will be Thursday, October 30, 2003 ; 2:00 p.m. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Pastor Bill Forbes officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.

Calvin C. Klein was born icon April 21, 1925 near Roseland, Nebraska to Peter and Lena (Reis) Klein. He graduated from Roseland High School, Roseland, Nebraska in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in the Pacific Theatre from 1943 to 1946. He attended Florida University, Miami, Florida and graduated from Hastings College in 1950. He was a school teacher and taught in Imperial, Nebraska and many years in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He retired due to poor health and has resided at the Grand Island Veterans Home since 1977. He belonged to the Teacher’s Association, the V.F.W. and was a Boy Scout Leader for many years.

Calvin Klein was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Helen Rothfuss and Goldae Whiting and two brothers Glenn and Orville Klein.
