Mary Ann Overturf, 74, of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2003, 9:30 A.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Ritter officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 8:30 - 9:30 A.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home.

Mary Ann Overturf was born icon December 20, 1928 in Fairfield, Iowa to Roy & Jessie (Thomson) Lee. Mary Ann graduated from Selma High School, Selma, Iowa in 1946 and then graduated from the Iowa Success School in Ottumwa, Iowa. On June 20, 1948 Mary Ann married Gerald L. Overturf in Ottumwa. They moved to Columbus in the spring of 1949. Mary Ann worked at the south-side Jack & Jill grocery store and she also worked as keypunch operator at Dales. She loved to visit with her friends over a cup of coffee and chocolate and watching the daily news. She also enjoyed working a crossword puzzle or doing a word find. Mary Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Julia K. Nauenburg

Julia K. Nauenburg, 100 of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, December 23, 2004 at Morys Haven in Columbus.

The funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 10:30AM at the Federated Church in Columbus with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Interment is in the Columbus Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Tuesday from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 AM also at the church. Memorials are suggested to Donors Choice.

Julia was born icon June 9, 1904 in rural Clarkson, Nebraska to Thomas and Katherine (Pesek) Nadrchal. She attended Clarkson School. On July 4, 1937 she married Raymond Nauenburg in Columbus, Nebraska. Julia was a homemaker. She enjoyed making quilts, going fishing, playing Bingo, and her flowers.. She did volunteer work at the Opportunity Schoppe, was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, and a former member of the Rebecca Lodge. She was a member of the Federated Church.

William "Bill" Campbell

William "Bill" Campbell, 80, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral service will on Wednesday, December 8, 10:30 A.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Ritter officiating. Interment will be in the All Saints Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. all at the funeral home.

William Campbell was born icon August 30, 1924 in Columbus, Nebraska to Edwin and Minnie (Burch) Campbell. He grew up and attended school in Clarks, Nebraska. On December 29, 1941, Bill joined the U.S. Navy. He volunteered for submarine service and served in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged on November 8, 1945 and attained the rank of TM3C. He moved to Columbus in 1949 and started working as a plumber. On January 22, 1951, Bill married Ester Smith Otterpohl in Yankton, South Dakota. In 1956, he became a Master Plumber and started Campbell Plumbing & Heating. In 1986, after 30 years of service, Bill retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards, and drinking coffee with his friends. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

Herbert Luchsinger, Sr.

Herbert Luchsinger, Sr., 90 of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, February 12, 2004 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Timothy White officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Tuesday at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials are to be directed to donors choice.

Herbert J. Luchsinger Sr., was born icon June 3, 1913 at the Luchsinger home place northeast of Columbus to Henry and Lina (Grossnicklaus) Luchsinger. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Shell Creek and confirmed at the Evangelical Protestant Church (now St. Luke's United Church of Christ) in Columbus. Herb received his education at District #10 school, rural Platte County. He married Mable Keller on June 3, 1936 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. They farmed on the home place until 1960 when they moved to Columbus where they lived until moving to a farm he purchased north of Columbus in November of 1987.

Herbert was a member of District #10 school board for several years and helped organize the Platte County Rural Fire District in 1951. He was a honorary member of the Rural Fire Board, a volunteer fireman for many years, and helped number and organize the rural Fire Districts. For a number of years, Herbert and Mable led the Platte County Rural Youth Group. Herbert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he belonged to the Builders Club and the Brotherhood of Church Club.

Ella Louise Inselman

Ella Louise Inselman, 92, of Aurora, Colorado, (formerly of Columbus, Nebraska) died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at the Life Care Center of Aurora.

The funeral service will be Saturday, July 3, 2004, 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 AM also at the church.

Ella was born icon October 15, 1911 in rural Polk County, Nebraska, to Emil and Mary (Meedel) Bienz. Ella attended Kramer High School in Columbus. She spent the first fifty years of her life on the farm, surviving the depression. She worked hard in the fields and had a large vegetable garden she tended over the years. Ella raised and tended to over a 1000 chickens a year, gathered and selling eggs. She took care of the families finances. She married Albert Inselman on Saturday, May 31, 1941 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus.

Ella was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother. She cared for her husband and mother at her home through their illnesses and deaths. After Albert died in 1965, Ella went to work for 10 years at Becton-Dickinson. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she did volunteer work in the church office. She delivered Meals-on-Wheels, visited shut-ins, and played piano for the pastor's hour at the nursing homes. She enjoyed traveling in her later years, visiting friends and relatives with her good friend Lelon Alexander, as well as experiencing new adventures in Europe and South America. She was a devout Christian. Her life bore witness to her faith in the Lord Jesus even to her final days in the nursing home.

Gisela Y. Roldan

Gisela Y. Roldan, 2 month old daughter of Carlos and Flor (Padilla) Roldan of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at the Children's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born icon March 23, 2004 in Omaha.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 1:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Pedro Colima officiating. Interment is in the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Sara R. Claborn

Sara R. Claborn, 16 of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 as a result of an auto accident in Columbus.

The funeral service will be Saturday, May 29, at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with Rev. Bill Ritter officiating. Interment is in the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials are suggested to the CHS - Sara Claborn Cheerleading Scholarship.

Sara was born icon March 4, 1988 in Ames, Iowa to Jeff and Jennifer (Hodge) Claborn. They moved to Columbus in October, 1988. Sara attended Columbus Public Schools and just completed her sophomore year at Columbus High School. Sara was an honor roll student at Columbus High, participated in Belle Voce Choir, handbell choir, soccer, and track. She was a Football and Girls Basketball cheerleader. During her freshman year at CHS, Sara lettered in track and was part of the speech team. She played AYSO soccer as a youth. Sara worked at Doozy's and helped her dad at Twin Rivers Veterinarian Clinic. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Myrtle M. Koeppen

Myrtle M. Koeppen, 93, of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, November 11, 2004 at the Schuyler Nursing Center in Schuyler, Nebraska

A private family graveside service will be held at the Roselawn Cemetery in Columbus with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating.

Myrtle M. Koeppen was born icon April 3, 1911 in Cedar Rapids , Nebraska to Clyde W. & Mary (Langan) Bourn. Myrtle attended District 48 grade school and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1930. She then attended Wayne State and Kearney State Universities . Myrtle married John L. Koeppen on July 28, 1936 in Albion , Nebraska . Myrtle was a teacher and taught in several one room schools in Boone and Nance Counties for 30 years. She was very proud of her students and the accomplishments that they made. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus . Myrtle enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and making quilts.
