Linda A. Eilts
Linda A. Eilts, 62, of Grand Island died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center of complications of kidney disease and diabetes.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following the service.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eilts was born icon March 1, 1945, at Grand Island, the daughter of John and Ruby (Schutt) Ellis.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brooke and Donna Eilts and Brendan and Angie Eilts, all of Grand Island; two daughters and sons-in-law, Justine and Doug Guzinski and Ansara and J.J. McDaniel, all of Grand Island; a brother, John Ellis; and four sisters and one brother-in-law, Marilyn Lif, Beverly and LaMoyne Darnall, LaVonne Hansen and Karen Alcorn.

Those also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren, Bethany, Brittney, Heaven and Hazzard.

Linda was raised and received her education in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High, class of 1963. She attended Kearney State and Grand Island Business College.

She was united in marriage to James Eilts on Feb. 14, 1965. They lived in Grand Island, where they owned and operated S&E Precision Motors. She then worked at the Grand Island Independent and later owned and operated Starlite Chassis.

She loved cross stitch, reading, trivia, bingo, ceramics, game shows, stock car races, crocheting and enjoyed attending the Grand Generation Center and Adult Daycare. She had a great love for her animals and spending time with her family.

Her parents and a brother, Wayne, preceded her in death.

A memorial fund will be established to help with animal care.

Thaine Emahizer
Thaine Emahizer, 91, of Aurora died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Aurora Memorial Hospital.

At Mr. Emahizer's request there will be no services. All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Emahizer was born icon Feb. 20, 1917, at Dresden, Kan., to Berte and Susie Emahizer.

Survivors of the immediate family include four sons and daughters-in-law, John and Pam Emahizer of Aurora, Jerry and Shelly Emahizer of Scott City, Kan., James and Sharrie Emahizer of Colby, Kan., and Robert and Rhonda Emahizer of Bakersfield, Calif.; and a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Tom Robben of Castle Rock, Colo.

Other survivors are 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Hazel Runge.

He was raised on a family farm near Dresden, Kan., and attended rural schools. He entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 5, 1941 serving during WWII. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 3, 1945.

He married Dorothy Gilbert on June 20, 1956. He lived in Ludell, Kan., before moving to Oberlin, Kan., in 2000 and Aurora in 2007. He worked construction and for elevator companies.

He is a member of the American Legion.

Louise Fiene
E. Louise Fiene, 70, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at Riverside Lodge.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fiene was born icon on July 6, 1937, at Ansley to Kenneth and Maxine (Scott) Slingsby.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Fiene.

Survivors of the immediate family include three sons and a daughter-in-law, C.L. Stevenson and his friend, Chris Seberger, of Grand Island, Dan Stevenson of Hastings, Doug and Jana Stevenson of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Tim Hansen of Seward; four stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Deon and Sindy Fiene of Elwood, Kevin and Mary Fiene of Elwood, Kelsey and Sherry Fiene of Gothenburg and Tyler and Tracy Fiene of Plattsmouth; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Larry and Karen Slingsby of Ansley, Richard and Caroldean Slingsby of Broken Bow, Don and Connie Slingsby of Broken Bow and Ron Slingsby of Arcadia; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Lenore and Max Bristol of Kearney, Ellen Smith of Grand Island and Barb Guy of Kearney.

Also surviving are a special friend and caregiver, Dorothy Rief of Grand Island, 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Louise was raised on the family farm east of Westerville that was homesteaded by her great-grandparents, who originally came over from England in 1878. She graduated from Westerville Rural High School in 1954. After attending Kearney College, she taught in several rural country schools.

After her marriage to Lewis Stevenson in 1957, they resided in Westerville, Sargent and Lexington. Besides a career in teaching, Louise was a homemaker while her children were young. She was employed by USWEST for 18 years, in Lexington, North Platte and Grand Island, retiring in Grand Island in 1990 as supervisor of a dispatch and test center for outstate Nebraska.

In 1980, she was united in marriage to Donald W. Fiene in Lexington. Mr. Fiene died in 1994 at Grand Island.

Mrs. Fiene was active in her church, the Evangelical Free, teaching children's Sunday school classes for more than 20 years. She was a volunteer for the Republican Party and many candidates over the years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Louise enjoyed the outdoors and working in her yard, and refinishing old furniture, making something old into a useful piece of beauty again. Her love of children filled her days with a fulfilling joy of God's precious gift of creation. Her most rewarding role was that of a Grandmother. Her many grandchildren were her pride and joy.

In addition to her husband, Don, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Bo Michael Stevenson; a stepgranddaughter, Jackie Fiene; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Stevenson.

Memorials are suggested to the Children's Ministries of the Evangelical Free Church or the American Cancer Society.

"Mae" Mavis L. Frandsen
“Mae” Mavis L. Frandsen, 83, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Reverend George Wheat will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mae was born icon on April 13, 1924 in Randolph, Vermont, the daughter of Frank and Annabell (Bresett) Pike. She resided in Randolph for several years before moving with her family to Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She grew up in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School. She had worked in a woolen mill and was employed by General Electric Company building destroyer escort motors. After graduation, Mavis left Pittsfield and moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the Bureau of Reviews and Discharges.

Mae met Dale R. Frandsen for the first time at a dance. She and Dale were united in marriage on August 24, 1946, in Washington. They moved to Grand Island in 1946.

She was employed by Sears and J.C. Penney stores in Grand Island. After her children were born icon she was a full-time wife, mother and homemaker. Mavis enjoyed gardening, genealogy, cooking and watching television.

Her husband, Dale Frandsen, preceded her in death on April 10, 2004.

Those left to cherish her memory are; daughter, Karen Frandsen of Grand Island; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Julie Frandsen of Grand Island; one sister, Frances Marcinkowski, sister-in-law, Shirley Pike, two grandsons, Eric and Joel Frandsen and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband who died April 10th of 2004, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Epilepsy Foundation, Alzheimer’s Foundation, American Cancer Society or donor’s choice.

Kevin Gammon

Kevin Gammon, 38, of Grand Island died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Rob Inge will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy.

Kevin was born icon October 28, 1969 at Gallatin, Tennessee the son of James and Claudine (Flippen) Gammon. He grew up and graduated from Gallatin High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on June 15, 1988 serving in Dessert Storm and honorably discharged on June 14, 1992. Kevin moved to Grand Island in 1994 and was employed by MFS/York/Stormor for 15 years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother and stepfather, Claudine and Billy Wair of Lebanon, TN, son Alec Gammon of Grand Island, daughter and son-in-law Jarilyn, Joshua Hawthorne and grandson Joseph Hawthorne of Grand Island, brother Christopher Gammon of LaVergne, TN, step mother Linda Gammon of Castilian Springs, TN, step sister Misty Brigham of Castilian Springs, TN and Step brother Chuck Lembach of Kentucky.

His father preceded him in death.

Kevin was a member of the Harvest Time Baptist Church. He was a talented painter, played the guitar and was great with computers.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Donald E Gannon
Donald E. "Don" Gannon, 60, of Grand Island died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church. There will be a family prayer at 9:45 a.m. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Gannon was born icon May 14, 1947, at Grand Island to Elmer and Lillian Gannon.

He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Gannon.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Barbara; his mother Lillian Gannon, a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Barbara Gannon of York, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Daisy Abarr of Burlington, Kan., and Donna and Jay Lankford of Wilbur.

Those also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Cody and Crystal Gannon, mother-in-law, Nora Straube of York, brothers-in-law and their spouses, Kenneth and Janet Morner, Donald and Charlotte Morner, Dennis and Jacque Morner and sister-in-law Donna Morner, many nieces and nephews and his Dachshunds, Bubba, Dolly and Harley.

His father and an infant brother also preceded him in death.

Don was raised and received his education in Grand Island and York, graduating from York High School, class of 1965. He entered the United States Navy. On Aug. 21, 1967, he was united in marriage to Barbara Morner. They lived in York before moving to Grand Island in 1968. He was employed by the Ordinance Plant until its closing when he went to work for the Platte Generating Plant where he worked for over 35 years.

He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, IBEW Local 1597 serving as president 1977-1990 receiving the Nolan Award in 1994, vice president of the Utility Workers Union, charter member of the Central Nebraska Wild Turkey Federation, Platt Duetsche, and the Saddle Club. He was active in Little League for many years and loved hunting.

Memorials are suggested to the church or family's choice.

Pearl Gidmond
Pearl Gidmond, 89, of Grand Island died Monday, April 7, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gidmond was born icon July 10, 1918, at Arapahoe to LeRoy and Sarah (Hand) Trunnell.

Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Francis; and two sisters, Mildred Jones of Broken Bow and Eva Perrin of Lincoln.

Other survivors are one brother-in-law, Harold Gidmond of Indianola; nieces; nephews; and close friends, Jayne Waite and Jack and Pam Tagel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Florence Jones, Ethel Archer and Edith Trunnell; and one brother, Charlie Trunnell.

Pearl received her education north of Keystone to the eighth grade.

She was united in marriage to Francis Gidmond on Jan. 22, 1952, in Denver. They lived in Denver for a year, moving to Ogallala, then moving around with construction work that eventually brought them to Grand Island.

She worked as a waitress and did motel cleaning. After moving to Grand Island, she worked at the ordnance plant until its closing. In 1988, she started working as a volunteer for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program.

Pearl was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved gardening, loved her roses and loved her cat, Midnight. She will be remembered as always being happy.
