Bobby LaVerne Trotter

Bobby LaVerne Trotter 68, of Grand Island died Monday February 12, 2007 at Beverly Health Care at Park Place..

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Bishop John Henderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Trotter was born icon July 17, 1938 in Broken Bow to Gary and Mary (Fricke) Trotter.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Wilma, sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Rodney Trotter both of Grand Island, Leslie and Sherry Trotter of St. Paul and daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Timothy Plummer of Grand Island, a sister Hazel Furrow of Gothenburg and eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He attended Broken Bow Public Schools and received his GED later in Grand Island. Bobby married Wilma Linden on June 1, 1958 at the Assembly of God Church in Broken Bow. Mr. Trotter was baptized at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Island on March 6, 2004.

Bobby was employed by Broken Bow Ready Mix, and then moved to Tumwater, Washington for a short time. They moved to Grand Island where he was employed by Rainbow Bakery until he started driving a milk truck for Fred Meier for several years. For nine years Mr. Trotter was employed by the City of Grand Island, drove truck for Elkhorn Valley Co-op, and then spent ten years employed by the State of Nebraska Department of Roads.

His parents, three brothers Gerald, Herman and Floyd and five sisters, Evelyn, Effie, Irene, Pauline and Jeanette preceded him in death.

Agatha "Sandy" M. Turk
Agatha “Sandy” M. Turk, 80, of St. Paul, NE died Tuesday July 17, 2007 at the Howard County Hospital.

Christian Wake Service with a Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Island. The Reverend Raymond M. Kosmicki will officiate. Mrs. Turk’s wishes were to have her body donated to the Nebraska Anatomical Board. Burial of her ashes will be at a later date at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.

There will be a time of gathering of family and friends from 6-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Sandy was born icon June 23, 1927 at Naponee, NE the daughter of Joseph and Ann (McCracken) Schneider. She was raised and received her education in Grand Island where she graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School. On June 15, 1948 she was united in marriage to Norbert Turk at Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island, farmed near St. Libory until 1982 before moving to Nevada and Wyoming. They moved to St. Paul, NE in 2002.

She was retired from Northwestern Bell Telephone after 25 years. She is a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul.

Survivors are her husband Norbert, sisters Patricia Schneider of New Jersey, Esther Morgan of New Jersey and Kathryn Kalkowski of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Other survivors are a sister-in-law and her husband, Zita and Jim Noonen of Omaha.

Her parents and a brother LeRoy preceded her in death.

Memorials are suggested to either St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or donor’s choice.

Janet L. Twomey

Janet L. Twomey, 73, of Grand Island died Wednesday March 28, 2007 at Beverly Health Care at Park Place.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Island. Bishop John Henderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour before service time. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Janet was born icon May 18, 1933 at Grand Island the daughter of Norris “Shorty” and Margaret (Humrich) Potter.

She was raised at Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High. She was employed at the Grand Generation Center retiring in 1998.

She had strong devotion to her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She is survived by daughter Suellen Twomey of Denver, CO.

Other survivors are granddaughter Megan Twomey and great grandchildren Patrick, Christopher and Mariah.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Gary L. Werner
Garry L. Werner, 68, of Grand Island, died Wednesday July 4, 2007, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday July 9, at the Grand Island City Cemetery. The Reverend Scott Jones will officiate.

Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Werner was born icon February 14, 1939, at Wymore, Nebraska, to Gerald and Bertha (Smith) Werner. Garry was raised and attended school at Wymore He was united in marriage to Joyce Hayes on December 24, 1966 in Grand Island. He was employed by Swift, Dreisbach’s and Monfort. Garry enjoyed painting cars and fishing.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce; a son Dan Werner of Grand Island, daughter Tonya Dean of Lincoln, brother Max Werner of Beatrice, NE., four grandchildren, Jacob, Paden, Ian and Camden. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Arlo Werner and Jim Werner.

Enrique 'Hank' Ayala
Enrique 'Hank' Ayala, 81, of Grand Island died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Lakeside Allegiant Hospital in Omaha.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church. His ashes will be placed in the church's columbarium.

There will be no visitation. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ayala was born icon Sept. 30, 1926, in Caracas, Venezuela, to Arturo Ayala and Clorinda Castillo de Ayala.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife of 59 years, Virginia; six sons and daughters-in-law, Carlos Enrique and Chong Ayala of Hopewell, Va., Francisco and Margit Ayala of Padeldorf, Germany, Jaime and Cindy Ayala of Humphrey, Diego and Tammy Ayala of Neligh, Pedro Jos, and Ramona Ayala of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Juan Pablo and Amy Ayala of Palm Bay, Fla.; four daughters and a son-in-law, Margarita and Bradley Rueb of Omaha, Maria Elena Ayala of Grand Island, Mercedes Ayala and Susana Ayala, both of Winter Park, Fla.; three sisters, Carmen Ayala de Perez, Kondira Ayala de Sous and Mercedes Ayala de Delconte, all of Caracas, Venezuela; and a brother-in-law, Douglas Pierce.

Other survivors are grandchildren and their spouses, Teresa and Ernest Wise, Sherry and Lucho Quintero, Elisa and Glenn Credeur, Carlos and Yolanda Ayala, Jessica and Eddie McDevitt, Rachel and Todd Johnson, Kristen and Dan Sharp and Diego, Gabriela, Carmen, Travis, Kathleen, Luis, Maria, Virginia, Danica, Savanah, Andr,s, Emilia, Logan, Alejandro and Marianna; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Matthew, Michelle, Elizabeth, Alysha, Tyler, Maximo, Ava, Louis, Adriana, Evangeline and Ella; nieces and nephews, Perez Ayala, Sous Ayala, Delconte Ayala and Ayala Nunez.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Hank graduated with his bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and completed his master's in animal husbandry at Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. His occupations included farmer and rancher, State Senator, Professor at the Universidad Central de Venezuela and Marketing Director of the Petrochemical Industry of Venezuela. After moving to Nebraska, he worked in Hospice Care, Home Health, and later as a Hispanic Minister with the United Methodist Church. It gave him great pleasure to create gifts for his many family members by painting, modeling in clay, wood working, and writing children's stories with moral endings. He derived great enjoyment playing with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had the joy of dancing with one of his granddaughters at her wedding before going to live with the Lord. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.

His Christian faith inspired and guided him in all the aspects of his life. God rest his soul.

Memorials are suggested to the church or the Salvation Army.

Elizabeth "Betty" Bartunek
Elizabeth "Betty" Bartunek, 87, of Grand Island died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Golden Living Center at Lakeview in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Jack Rademacher will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a parish rosary at 7. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bartunek was born icon Feb. 29, 1920, at David City, to Fred and Irene (Schramek) Ficke.

Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Ray; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Kathy Bartunek of Grand Island; a daughter, Nancy Bartunek of Glendale, Ariz.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Kathy Ficke of Plattsburg, Mo.

Other survivors include grandchildren, Stacy and Brian Sybrandts of Grand Island and Tyler Bartunek of Waverly; and a great-granddaughter, Kyla Sybrandts.

Betty graduated from David City High School in 1937.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Bartunek on May 20, 1941 in David City. Following their marriage, they farmed near Bee for 25 years. After moving to Grand Island in 1967, the couple owned and operated Dad's Liquor Store. Later, Elizabeth was manager of Maurices Apparel Shop, worked in customer service for Conestoga Mall and was an employee of Home Federal for 10 years.

Betty was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church. She helped her husband organize the K of C Bingo for many years and was active in her parish in Bee, 4-H Club and archery. She enjoyed gardening, but most of all her family gatherings.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Memorials are suggested to masses at St. Leo's Catholic Church or donor's choice.

Michael A. Carreon
Michael A. Carreon, 34, of Conyers, Ga., formerly of Grand Island, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in Conyers as a result of medical complications due to a leg amputation in December 2006.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home, with a parish rosary at 7.

Mr. Carreon was born icon Aug. 22, 1973, at Grand Island to Manuel and Susan (Grudzinski) Carreon.

Survivors of the immediate family include his parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lisa and Deryne Eastman of Aurora and Maria and Genovevo Morales of Grand Island; and his wife, Robin of Conyers, Ga.

Other survivors include his four nieces, Merissa, Molley and Miranda Eastman and Angelica Morales; aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends, including special friends, Michael "Merve" Retterling, "Chuckles" and "Rawoo."

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard and Agnes Grudzinski Sr.; uncle, Don Grudzinski; grandmother, Teodora Carreon; aunt, Delores Fierro; and special friend, Jay, who died in Iraq.

Michael received his education through Grand Island Public Schools, where he was active in Show Choir. He received his GED from Southeast Community College in 1992 and attended Hastings Community College, majoring in broadcasting.

He was united in marriage to Robin (Harris) on April 29, 2006, in Conyers.

He received his sacraments at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. During his youth, he served as an acolyte for several years.

Michael's hobbies included all sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, Scooby Doo, U2 and Christian music. He was an aspiring chef, loved reading, writing poetry and had a deep love for his nieces.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Cristobal "Jose" Cruz

Cristobal "Jose" Cruz, 74, of Grand Island died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a rosary at 7, at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev. Vince Parsons will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in El Salvador.

Survivors include his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters.
