Howard Archambault

CALLAWAY -- Howard "Archie" Archambault, 72, of Callaway, formerly of Oconto, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at the Callaway District Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Callaway. Father Jim Novakowski will officiate. Burial will be at Oconto Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. A memorials has been established to the Callaway Hospice.

Mr. Archambault was born icon Feb. 13, 1928, at Midland, Mich., to Emile and Mary Ann (LeFevre) Archambault. He moved with his family to Saginaw, Mich., where he graduated from high school in 1945. He entered the Air Force, served during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska.

In 1971, Archambault married Aneta Preston at Thorton, Colo. The couple moved to Oconto in October 1971. In 1979, the couple bough and operate the Oconto Bar. They retired in 1990. In October 1999, they moved to Callaway.

He was a member of the Eagles Club, the Lions Club, and Oconto Fire and EMT departments. Archambault enjoyed tinkering and working with his hands.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert of Oconto, Jerry of Sacramento, Calif., and Bruce Cook of Longmont, Colo.; two daughters, Penni Sievers of Loveland, Colo., and Mari Zenus of Broomfield, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Carl of Saginaw, Mich.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.

Charlotte Eckstrom

Charlotte M. Eckstrom, 78, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at the St. Francis Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dean Welch will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Brainerd Indian School at Brainerd, S.D.

Mrs. Eckstrom was born icon April 15, 1922, to George and Clara (Parker) Hawthorne at Genoa. She grew up and was educated in Fullerton.

She married Richard Eckstrom on Sept. 15, 1946, at Fullerton, after which the couple lived in Palmer. In 1964 they moved to Grand Island.

She was a member of the Wesleyan Church at Palmer.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Belva Jean Berck of Grand Island; one son, Randy Smith of Doniphan; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lillian Rodwell of Wahoo.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry (Sautter) Giersdorph; seven brothers; and one sister.

'Rosie' Dugan

GREELEY -- Rose Mary "Rosie" Dugan, 75, of Greeley died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at the Greeley Care Home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Greeley. The Revs. Gerald J. Carlson, John Cook and James Warner will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Greeley.

Visitation will continue before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Curran Funeral Chapel in Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include six sons, Joe, Larry and Gerald, all of Greeley, Bob of Grand Island, Mark of Elba and Denny of Greeley, Colo.; five daughters, Jeannie (Mrs. Robert) Peterson of Elkhorn, Rose Marie "Ree" (Mrs. Doug) Cargill of Ord, Diane Dugan of Keenesburg, Colo., Donna (Mrs. Jim) Allen of Grand Island and Pamela (Mrs. Dan) Dutcher of Wakefield; 51 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lawrence Smith and Jack Smith, both of Greeley, and Jerry Smith of Wolbach; and two sisters, Elizabeth L. (Mrs. Thomas) Costello of Grand Island and Dorothy Zeleski of Central City.

Her husband, James, died on Sept. 14, 1972. She also was preceded in death by two sons, an infant son, Mark, and Marty; four grandchildren; one brother, William "Billy Joe" Smith; and an infant sister, Catherine Smith.

Vicki Farritor

RAVENNA -- Vicki Farritor, 71, of Ravenna, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at her home in Ravenna.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Rod Pruss will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna.

There will be a wake service at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.

Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Farritor was born icon Feb. 28, 1929, in Custer County to Walter and Sally (Kosmicki) Graczyk. She attended school in Callaway and graduated from Callaway High School. She worked at the production Credit Association Office in Broken Bow.

She married Ed Farritor on June 5, 1950, at Broken Bow. The couple lived in Broken Bow for 14 years. They moved to Ravenna in 1964 where they owned and operated the Coast to Coast Store for 27 years. They retired in 1992.

Mrs. Farritor was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Altar Society, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Quilters Club, Ravenna Bowling Association and a card club. She enjoyed quilting, walking and playing with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Mike and Pat, both of Sioux Falls, S.D., Shawn of Hastings and Shane of Lincoln; three daughters, Michele Abel of Lake Jackson, Texas and Mary Clark and Sharon Farritor, both of Ravenna; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed Graczyk of Sumner; and one sister, Angela O'Brien of Broken Bow.

Edward Saunders

OMAHA -- Edward F. Saunders Jr., 75, of Omaha died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in Omaha.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian U.C.C. Church in Aurora. The Rev. Kevin Killion will officiate. Burial will be at the Aurora Cemetery with Military Honor Guard. Higby Mortuary of Aurora is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Saunders taught at Grand Island Senior High School.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Grosvenor Saunders; a daughter, Trudy (Mrs. Bryan) Saunders Bredthauer of Omaha; and two grandchildren.

Fae Shelden

MESA, Ariz. -- Fae Voth Shelden, 95, of Mesa, Ariz., died Aug. 5, 2000, in Mesa.

Memorial services were Friday at Melcher's Chapel of the Roses in Mesa. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna. The Rev. Brian Fugleberg will officiate.

Rasmussen Mortuary of Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sheldon was born icon May 13, 1905, in Lincoln to James A. and Ora Belle Weaver. Her family moved to Thedford, where she graduated from high school and became a teacher.

She married Orville F. Voth on March 14, 1925. The couple lived in Ravenna. Mr. Voth died on Jan. 31, 1970.

She moved to Mesa in 1970 where she worked for an optical company for several years. She married Albert "Shelly" Shelden on Feb. 2, 1972 in Arizona. Mr. Shelden died in 1992.

Survivors include one son, Lyle Voth; one daughter, Elaine Snider; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beryl Alden.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.

Robert Ball

Robert "Bob" Ball, 42, of 1312 N. Huston died suddenly Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Kearney. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Kleine Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family.

Wesley A. 'Cub' Baehr

AURORA -- Wesley A. "Cub" Baehr, 86, of Aurora died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Presbyterian United Church of Christ Church in Aurora. The Rev. Cathy Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. Mr. Baehr was born icon July 31, 1913, to A.J. and Amanda (Goettsch) Baehr at North Bend. He grew up in North Bend, living there until his family moved to Fullerton when he was 11 years old. He graduated from Fullerton High School, serving as valedictorian of his class. He attended University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He, his parents and brother, Melbern, started Baehr's Red and White Grocery Store in Fullerton. They opened a second store in Aurora in the 1930s. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941 and served his country for four years, including action at Iwo Jima, where he witnessed the raising of the U.S. flag. He married Elda Rawson on July 4, 1943. He was active in the grocery store until he retired in 1971. He then served as a real estate broker in Aurora in his later years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Aurora Redcoats. He served on the board of United A.G., a wholesale grocery warehouse in Omaha. He was past president and 50-year member of Rotary Club in Aurora and past president and member of Aurora Chamber of Commerce. He received the chamber's Gold Award in 1993. He was a lifetime Nebraska football fan. Survivors include his wife and one son, Ted of Santa Barbara, Calif. He was preceded in death by one brother, Melbern.
Mark Rutten

CEDAR RAPIDS -- Mark Joseph Rutten, 67, of Cedar Rapids died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Ralph Steffensmeier will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Dan Cox American Legion Post No. 44 in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, with rosaries recited at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday. Visitation will resume from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Annabelle Skelton KEARNEY -- Annabelle Skelton, 74, of Kearney, formerly of Fairbury, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury. The Rev. Sharee Kelly will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery in Fairbury. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Skelton was born icon Feb. 24, 1925, to Frank and Leona (Singleton) Davis at Hanover, Kan. She was of German descent and attended 12 years of school. She married Jack D. Skelton and was a homemaker. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Goldfish of Kearney, Karen (Mrs. Lloyd) Dawes of Springfield, Mo., and Nancy (Mrs. Howard) Oliver of Lincoln; two sons, Jack Skelton of Pueblo, Colo., and Rich Skelton of Kearney; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandsons and one brother, Don Singleton of Fairbury. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Larry.

Emily Wright

AURORA -- Emily Wright, 93, of Aurora died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. The Rev. Joe Scahill will officiate. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Wright was born icon May 11, 1906, to Harry and Sarah (McKern) Toof at Aurora. She grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1924. She attended University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She taught school in rural Aurora and Chappell. She married Glenn Wright on Feb. 19, 1927, at Seward. They moved to a farm south of Aurora, living there until 1940. They bought a farm in Stratford, Iowa, in 1941. They moved to Boone, Iowa, in 1957 and continued to farm in Stratford. He died on March 11, 1984. She moved to Hamilton Manor in November 1997. She was a member of United Methodist Church, where she was involved in Church Circle, and Questers. She enjoyed antiques. Survivors include one brother, Robert Toof of Colorado Springs, Colo. and one sister, Ruth Vetter of Aurora. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Toof and one sister, Alyda Zehr.

Frank Hauser

DUNNING -- Frank Hauser, 75, of Dunning, formerly of Rockville, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Anselm's Catholic Church in Anselmo, with a rosary recited at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. Mark Maresh will officiate. Burial will be in Hawley Flats Cemetery in Blaine County. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Memorials are suggested to the church or Hawley Flats Cemetery Fund. Mr. Hauser was born icon Aug. 22, 1924, to John J. and Anna (Rhode) Hauser at Rockville. He attended grade school near Ravenna. At age 10, his family moved to Purdum in Blaine County. He played baseball for Hawley Flats and Purdum teams. After his education, he continued to ranch with his family. He married Frances Davis on Oct. 4, 1947, at Anselmo. They lived near Hawley Flats, where he ranched for the rest of his life. He was a member of St. Anselm's Catholic Church. He enjoyed horses, hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Frank and Barry, both of Arnold, and Steve of North Platte; five daughters, Marilyn (Mrs. Ken) Hauser of Marquette, Cheryl (Mrs. Brian) Husted of Valparaiso, Karen (Mrs. John) Weekley of Shelton, Judy (Mrs. Kelly) Schweitzer of Broken Bow and Connie Poffenbarger of Lincoln; 24 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one brother, Joe of Denver. He was preceded in death by seven brothers..

Clifford James

ELWOOD -- Clifford James, 84, of Elwood, formerly of Aurora, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, in Lexington. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Higby Mortuary Chapel in Aurora. The Rev. Joe Scahill will officiate. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. James was born icon Jan. 17, 1915, to John and Beatrice (Russell) James at Marquette. He grew up near Marquette and attended a rural school. He served in the military during World War II. He married Fern Marie Smith on Feb. 9, 1957, at Kearney. They farmed north of Aurora. He enjoyed his family and friends, and especially loved his dachshund. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, LaVonne (Mrs. Dan) Tiede of Elwood; one stepson, Harry Lazar Jr. of Yakima, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Joyce Reil of Lexington; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by two step-grandchildren, Troy and Tracy Reil; one brother, Cecil James and two sisters, Cora Nelsen and Eva James.

Lucile Mincks

YORK -- Lucile M. Mincks, 85, of York died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at the Hearthstone Care Center in York. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lewis Funeral Chapel in York. The Rev. Jo Harper will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at York. Visitation began after 5 p.m. Saturday at the Lewis Funeral Chapel in York. Memorials are suggested to the Epworth Village at York. Lewis Funeral Chapel in York is in charge of arrangements. Miss Mincks was born icon Oct. 7, 1914, to Ellis B. and Mable (Prewitt) Mincks on the family farm between York and Benedict. She attended school at District 85 country school and Benedict High School where she graduated. She worked as a bookkeeper for Levitt Lumber Company in York for a period of time. Upon the declining health of her parents, she stayed home to care for them and help with the farming along with her only sibling, her brother Ralph. After the death of her father in 1971 and mother in 1978, she and her brother enjoyed going to horse races together and attended the Kentucky Derby. Survivors include cousins Irvin Herrold, Kenneth Herrold and Barbara Shafer, all of Grand Island; Alice Wilkinson of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Beatrice Klawuan of Omaha and Bob Prewitt of Phelan, Calif. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Ellis Mincks on May 9, 1993.

Robert 'Bob' Ball

Robert "Bob" Ball, 42, of 1312 N. Huston, died Friday, Nov. 11, 1999, in Kearney.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kleine Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mr. Ball was born icon Aug. 21, 1957, in Grand Island to Calvin and Velmah "Ilene" (Gibb) Ball. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1975. He started working as a machinist for Sta-rite Industries in Grand Island and was working there at the time of his death. He had been with the company for over 23 years.

He married Carri Schrunk on March 19, 1977, in Clear Water. They lived in Grand Island. He took night classes at Central Community College and was working toward his associate's degree in business.

He was a member of the Christian faith, enjoyed remodeling his house and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with family and their vacations and time spent with his dog Ginger.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Jason of Lincoln; one daughter, Jamie of Grand Island; one sister, Judy (Mrs. Larry) Ellison of Callaway; and his parents of Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Marjorey Buettner

CENTRAL CITY -- Marjorey Buettner, 77, of Central City, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Solt Funeral Home Chapel in Central City.
